Ofelia wanted to see him and say she was sorry, there was nothing more to it than that.

Did she want to say sorry for hugging him, for making him shove her away and assume that she was mocking him? There had been no malice in her words, no ulterior motive or unchecked actions. Everything she felt for Rep was pure affection, even if he treated her poorly and always ended up hurting her, but Ofelia was like a stupid puppy who constantly got kicked - she still loved and cared about those she deemed her friends. Was he upset because she hugged him in front of all those people? He'd been so nice to her in the hospital - was that all in her head, an action her performed out of guilt and guilt alone? Part of her wanted to know and wanted to know badly, but how would she bring that up? That thought stung and she pushed it aside.

But what if it wasn't that, what if the hug and Rep's poor treatment of her wasn't the reason? The dream she'd had, did she want to say sorry for what she did to him in that? Would he believe her when she got on her hands and knees and said sorry, or would he kick her in the face and tell her she was stupid for dreaming such a thing? Even now as she looked for him she could hear the sound of his screaming voice inside her head, she could smell the blood that gushed from his neck on her nose and hands. If she dared lick her lips she felt like she might even taste it and that thought sent her rubbing her face with the back of her hand.

Just text him, like you have been everyone else. Rue had been unsettled since Ofelia's dream, since the girl had woken up screaming and run to the showers, hiding herself in them until others came in and she could no longer be alone. Nightmares never sat well with Ofelia, Rue could tell, and it was only in the girl's dream state that the weapon dared not interfere. A hunter mentally damaged was no fun after all. You can do it. I doubt he'll even respond to you and then you can get over this foolish idiot idea of yours, hick

Ofelia looked at her phone, at all the numbers and the nicknames. Rep's came up easy enough and she typed in a message, short and sweet.

Baneful
can we talk please

Hopefully. . . he would respond? It wasn't like she was mad, she just wanted to say sorry and maybe. . . maybe. No, she wasn't expecting anything from it. With her luck and hope maybe she'd walk away without a bruise or a throbbing arm.

As the message came up on his phone, Rep sighed.

He didn't understand why Ofie kept coming back to him all the time, why she kept wanting to speak to him, to hug him, to be around him. It made no sense in the sun hunter's head. He couldn't comprehend why despite the shittiest treatment he could muster, horrible insults and downright maiming, she kept coming back. It should have frustrated him, made him angry. But instead it made him, somewhere in a long ago memory, very sad.

He hated women, that was a given, but one of the things he'd learned to hate most was that blind spot some of them seemed to have. That blind spot his mother had. She'd constantly go back to the things that hurt her, the drugs for one thing, the abusive men for another. She'd be beaten black and blue and next thing he knew she'd be the one apologising to the b*****d for starting the argument. It was intolerable, it was maddening.

Ofie made him feel like he'd become one of those men.

It made him uncomfortable to the extreme, guilt and anger at himself mingling in a complex tangle of emotions. And he couldn't even hate her, she was just a silly girl, a silly girl who really needed someone to look out for her, take care of her, be like a big brother to her. Someone who wasn't him, as he knew he'd never be able to shake that fury, that anger, blaming her for his mother's shortcomings.

He picked up his phone and texted

Cafeteria

When not on missions he'd taken up a sort of half-residence in the cafeteria and that where he sat, surrounded by several empty mugs he couldn't be arsed returning. Unsurprisingly, a lot of the chairs around him were empty.

Ofelia looked at her phone as she paced back and forth, wondering if it had gone to Rep at all and if he would even answer. She was thinking all kinds of things, mostly remembering the dream and how real everything felt, but mostly she was thinking about how she would say sorry to him and maybe get him to smile at her. It was confusing, almost everyone else seemed to tolerate her, so why did Rep dislike her so much? It obviously had to be something she'd done, there had to be no other reason for it, but for the life of her she couldn't figure it out and it was pissing her off.

And then the text came, a buzzing in her pocket, and Ofelia nearly flipped out as she flipped the phone open. He'd responded, he'd told her where he was, and Ofelia flipped the phone closed as she started towards his location. after a few steps though she stopped and took the phone back out, sending a message.

Text to Rep: On my way okay okay 87878787878787878787

She just mashed some keys before she hit send, probably a bad idea, but she turned on her heels and started down the hallway towards where he said he was. Her shoes made a 'twack-twack' sound as she moved along, announcing her presence before she made it anywhere, and just as Ofelia turned into the cafeteria she kicked the back of her foot with the other foot and sent herself crashing down about four feet away from where Rep likely was waiting.

" . . . . . ouch." Ofelia pushed herself to her knees with her hands, pausing to rub the red bruise that was her nose. It wasn't broken thankfully, nor bleeding, but it sure hurt. A few tender touches more she gave it before looking up and over at Rep, a wide grin spreading over her lips. "Hiya Rep. May Ah sit witcha?"

[ . . . in case you're curious about the dream, it's this ]

As she arrived, he narrowed his cold blue eyes at her, almost immediately seized by that cold intolerance and irritation. He resented everything she stood for, the guilt she wrung out of him already. And when she fell, rather than sympathy, he turned up his nose in a disdainful sneer. She couldn't even walk without ******** falling over. How was she still alive?

He propped an elbow on the table and lazily propped up his chin with a hand.

"Not my table, not like I could stop you."

Despite his rather drab demeanour he was still dressed in an utterly eye searing tye dye t-shirt and bright trousers. Clearly not from his own wardrobe.

"Naturally, but Ah thought Ah'd ask anyway. Never hurts ta be polite even when yer doin' yer own thing, right?" Ofelia got to her feet, dusted her knees off, and walked properly over to the table. Rather than sitting next to Rep she sat across from him, the grin still on her face. Rep...looked tired, or at least he did to her, and the grin slowly faded as she took in more of him.

Weird clothes, more agitation than usual. Had he had a bad dream as well? It wasn't like everyone could ignore it, she'd heard the cries at night and could do nothing about it, so what if Rep had it too? Did he kill her as she did him? A strange thought but a fair thought. Death for death, blood for blood. That whole sort of thing, right? Nope, nope, not gonna talk about it. She could talk about him instead, right?

Ofelia opened her mouth, ready to ask him how he was, when something else spilled out instead. "Ah'm sorry."

He raised a brow at her, giving her that same tired and decidedly nonplussed look. "You are sorry. What the ******** are you sorry for exactly?"

Always apologising when no apologies were needed. Apologising when she should be angry. Too familiar, horribly familiar. He crossed his arms.

"Well, 'cause ya hate me, right? Ah guess we started off on the wrong foot ta begin wit' an' after the hospital I thought stuff was okay, but ya really do hate me. What did Ah do wrong so Ah can fix it?" Ofelia wasn't going to back down from this, she wanted to know why. Simply saying she was hated for no reason wasn't enough, even if Rep actually hadn't said anything, so she wanted to hear a decent explanation.

She'd only killed her friends in her dream and he had been one of them. She counted him among her friends, he obvious did not for her among his. That was okay though, Ofelia could accept that. "Ah mean, s'not like ya have ta love me or anythin', Ah'm clearly not yer type'a girl, but. . . Ah would like fer ya ta at least like me a little bit. Ah wanna - " She cut herself off, preventing a rant or stupid speech from coming out. Rep to her didn't seem the type to listen - Rep would get up and walk away if annoyed and she wasn't sure she had it in her to just...tackle him down.

The cold almost feralness of his gaze didn't ease as he watched her. "I don't ******** hate specifically you. I hate what you are. A weak and pathetic little girl. Its how you are and no amount of effort will ever change it. Why the ******** do you keep coming back to talk to me? Why do you ******** keep it up when its so obvious all I'm ever going to do is harm you?"

He clasped his hands on the table in front of him, his posture, stiff, cold, dangerous. Different from his usual laid back and casual nastiness. She reached some volatile, unpredictable place in him and it took a great deal of effort just to hold it back.

"And just for the record." he stated clipped. "No girl is my type of girl. Get it?"

He couldn't admit it to Candace, could hardly admit it to himself, but for whatever reason, snarling it at Ofie was fine because he could only hope it had some vague capacity to hurt. "Though if I hear that's got out from you then we'll go a little beyond hate and into me making your life more of a ******** dismal nightmare than it already is, you get it?"

He pointed at her. "You can't do anything to fix this. The more you come back, the more I'll end up hurting you. So unless you are a masochist, I recommend you find better friends."

Ofelia sat back in her chair as she listened to it all, her eye as wide as it would go and the other one (behind the eyepatch) probably open just the same. She listened to Rep's explination of why he hated her, not to mention his little added spice and then threat to her life, and when it was all finally over the teen sat there in silence.

For like three seconds.

"Are ya ********' retarded? A'course Ah'm a girl an' dun have a way ta change that but seriously, really? That's the only reason, bein' a general woman hater? Oh, an' ya bein' gay, that's it?" Ofelia had to surpress a cackle as best she could, not wanting to get punched in the face for laughing in Rep's face. She pretty much already knew he hated women, the fact of everything he said went through that, but the revolution that he liked men based on his not-so-subtle wording was a bit new. It explained a few things here and there as well, like the time with Jordan and Harrison (and maybe now his clothes) but none the less it was just....funny. To be hated as a whole, not a person, sounded ridiculous.

Rue let out a small noise of warning in Ofelia's head, to tell her to back off. To the boo hag's surprise Ofelia somewhat accepted it with a verbal okay, her outward tone changing from the condescending style to general speaking. "Ah dun care if ya hurt me on account'a wounds heal, time heals, blah blah blah Dr. Phil s**t. Basically Ah can' leave ya alone Rep, yer part'a mah team an' part'a mah life whether ya like it or not. So no matter what ya say or do Ah'll keep comin' back ta ya, talkin' ta ya, annoyin' ya, gettin' beatin' by ya. Ah won' leave ya alone like this, even if yer sayin' yer not."

Ofelia interlaced her fingers with one another, still leaning back in the chair. If Rep decided to try and swing at her she had enough distance to either duck or grab for his hand - she wasn't stupid enough to let him get close without a plan. Still her face didn't show any signs of nerves, neither did her voice, but her heart was pounding.

"Also, on a side note, tellin' someone ya hate that yer gay an' then threatenin' 'em ta keep it a secret is bad style man. Ya only tell secrets ya people ya trust, or people ya know trust or like ya enough ta keep things bottled. Which option is it fer ya, hmmm?" Well it was obvious that he hated Ofelia and didn't trust her but for some reason or another she really did like him. Maybe it was her stubborn nature that refused to have her let go, maybe it was her desire to be liked by everyone or maybe it was because she really was a masochist deep down. Verbal abuse stopped hurting after a while. Broken bones stop hurting after a while. Ofelia could be numb to it all if she really wanted.

He was still tense, lately the frustrations had been getting to him worse than ever and he was like a tightly coiled spring, taut to breaking point, looking for an excuse to go off at her, almost fishing for a reaction.

He couldn't hide the disappointment as she stated that she wouldn't back off, that she couldn't leave him alone as he was part of her team, that she wouldn't give up on him regardless.

"Then the beatings and nastiness and everything, all of it, will ******** continue I guess. Until you get some ******** common sense or until you die, either at someone else's hands or my own." And she'd come close already to that, much to his self disgust. He couldn't help it, her insistence made him angry, made him unpredictable. He couldn't justify it but he couldn't really stop either.

A cruel smirk twisted his features at her comment. "I guess I tell you because I don't think you are important enough in the grand ******** scheme of things to matter. I don't think anyone would really believe you if you told them, or believe that I told you either." He scratched his beard lazily. "Maybe I hoped it would put you off if it this was some..ill founded ******** romantic thing."

It was so easy to fall into that cycle of abusiveness all over again and he realized that if this wasn't a crowded cafeteria that he would be sorely tempted to attack her all over again just to remind her what she had to look forward to.

"Um.....nooo, there's no romance between us or anythin' a that sort, an' if there was love it'd only be. . . uh, what's the word? Comrade-love. Jus sayin' though, Ah dun really have a type but if Ah did, it wouldn' be someone like ya so dun worry there. Ya stick ta yer dudes an' All stick ta mine." Thank god he hadn't hit her. Ofelia somewhat relaxed, inwardly pleased that Rep was relaxed enough to...scratch his beard or whatever. Not being punched was awesome. "An'...yeah, yer probably right that no one would believe me. Ah actually dun talk ta many people, jus' ya an' Jordan an' maybe a few others?"

Ofelia had friends, sure, but no one she'd really shed blood with or had her a** handed to her by. Well, there was Marcus but he didn't count much because he was a nice guy and they hadn't talked since he carried her to get her leg fixed. It was funny that she was thinking of other people right now because it was her easiest way to deal with Rep's verbal barrage. Ofelia wasn't the violent type, not intentionally anyway, and she didn't like to use her words or fists against people without having a reason. Rep was only speaking the truth to her, she didn't have a reason to yell back.

Plus she had asked for it so there was that. Rue took great pleasure in reminding her of that, repeating her words with emphasis on each syllable.
"Anyway maybe Ah jus' enjoy pissin' ya off. Yer so easy to anger, so easy to predict, it's almost kinda like a sport. Mah body can take yer blows, mah mind's stupid enough ta take yer words, so. . . yeah. Ah wonder between the two of us driving one 'nother off, who has a better chance'a winnin'?"

Ofie got a very curious look, as if sizing her up. He wasn't sure when the conversation had veered from the usual over friendly passiveness into somewhere a little more unfamiliar. There was definite testing and fight in her words, not her type. Hah. He actually took it as a vague insult, what was there not to ******** like about him? Sure, he wasn't interested, but as far as he was concerned in his current mood the whole ******** world should be into him. "Good then. Even if I was on that side of s**t, I don't like gingers anyway. Especially not scrawny ones without actual ******** shoes."

He had to admit he wasn't too keen on the fact she spoke to Jordan, but then again, he hedged his bets on the fact even Jordan wouldn't believe her about quite the level of abuse she took from him on a day to day basis.

His patience was however pushed to breaking point as he picked up the clear challenge in her tone, slamming his hands on the table and getting up, glaring coldly at her. "Is that a ******** challenge? Because I'd like to ******** challenge that little claim you can take anything I dish out. Hell if we weren't on strict orders right now, I'd hospitalize you all over again you arrogant little b***h."

Ofelia stood up as Rep did, her stance a little slower. Her arms crossed themselves over her chest, not in a manner of protection but as defiance, and she grinned. "Feelin' better? That's right, jus' let it all out. Ah hear ventin' is good fer the soul an' yer really kinda needin' it." There was still a table width and depth between them and just as soon as she uncrossed her arms Ofelia slipped one of her hands down and into her back pocket. Her phone was there should something happen and she wasn't afraid to dial and call. Rep said they were all on orders, the orders were keeping her safe, but she doubted he was the type to listen past a certain point anyway.

It wasn't like her to barb words like this, it wasn't like her to taunt. There was just something so amusing about the way Rep was acting, about the way she'd killed him in her dream. Was this still a dream, was this the real Rep in front of her? Honestly with everything going on she couldn't tell.

"Ah'll have ya know flip flops are shoes, thank ya kindly. They cover the bottom'a mah feet an' get me from point a ta point b. Therefore, shoes. Also yer a ginger. Ya tellin' me yer selfhatin' on top'a bein' a chauvinist an' gay?" How the hell did Ofelia know a word like chauvinist? She wasn't well read so maybe it was a fluke. "How do ya - oh wait, ya dun manage. Yer a ragin' a*****e wit' issues the size'a that monster we fought b'for."

Are you trying to get him to hit you or are you just playing stupid? Either way you won't take a hit very well, it'll hurt, and there's no one here to save you. Rue paused. Never mind, carry on.

As the other sun got to her feet, Rep's anger freewheeled unchecked, there was only so much he could handle lately and with one thing on top of another coupled with the many many stresses of the horseman mission he was a barely held together emotional wreck. Aggression was normally therapeutic, but right now aggression was an enormous drain on already depleted emotional reserves. And now he was faced with no option but to fight back or be walked all over by a woman.

"They are ******** absurd" he snarled "Just like you. ******** typical dumb b***h. ******** dumb b***h with a DEATH WISH."

He had orders but he also had pride, and no one got away with calling him that sort of s**t. He'd eat the consequences. Tracey was summoned in an instant and in a swing that hit the floor, he cleaved the table in two. sending mugs scattering all over

"How ******** dare you come here and ******** insult me. Get the ******** out of my way before I mince you you irritating little c**t."

A large hand fell on Rep's shoulder, and Killzone leaned into his face, "Mother ********. I think you got a lot of ******** issues to be dealing with, but the most immediate would be learning to respect communal property." The large man's voice was unusually quiet, but the intensity was still there. "Bathrooms were bad enough, and now you gotta break s**t down here too."

He glanced down at the table and back to Rep, "Now we're short a goddamned table. You think we have lots of tables down here? You think the goddamned table fairy is gonna visit us at night? You some kind of carpenter? Because you don't look like any kind of carpenter to me. Take a good long moment to think over your answer, ******** glanced at Ofie, "b***h, there is a time and a place for talking this s**t over. You know why my room has ******** beanbags? s**t like this."
