Phone was still busted. It'd make some sad sounding beeping noises, but overall it was keeping her from being effective in a group. Or rather, it meant that she couldn't call for backup and couldn't be called for backup. It was rather unfortunate, if she was to be honest about it. Still, going up and clearing things out was the way she liked it.
It made her feel productive. It made her stop thinking about all of the little worries that nibbled at her head. He doesn't really love you. was one of the most prominent ones that would fester if she spent too much time still. Even when the pair of them cuddled up in a bunk together it would nibble and bother her until she cuddled up into that place against Marcus's neck that she was so used to and sigh.
Thinking that way wasn't right, and so she made a point to start at least keeping herself busy. Sitting around all day wouldn't have helped her out at all, and it didn't help the base. They had to go and restore the order. Bring the base back to how it was meant to be. Besides, she was ready to be able to sleep in a real bed and get off this damned island. It was like a prison.
It was like the Walking Dead or something like that where they kept getting holed up in various places.
"I'm heading up to the Main Building to do some clean up. Anybody care to join me?" she asked as she headed towards the portals to go topside.

Candace was keeping herself busy with a search. A search for privacy. There wasn't even any in the shower! The barracks were just one huge room, there were no places one could hide. Damn, she wanted the dorms back. Now. It had been hell trying to get over what Jerry had raised her hopes for with no way to fix it quickly. Damnit. It pained her to see him so upset though, to see him weak and tired and so exhausted physically and emotionally. They needed to get the surface cleared out faster. They had to. They had to. If not for her then for Jerry. She had to do it for Jerry.
She was leaning against a wall pouting over being unable to find any privacy when she heard Cass. Ohh? "I'll join you." She called out, pushing off the wall to approach Cass. "You okay? I haven't seen you around lately."

"Sounds like a plan to me," Jordan said. He finished tying his bootlace and stood up, pulling his coat and scarf on. "Bowling for fog monsters."

"The main building? Sure. Sounds good to me. Count me in."
There were things in the main building that he would like to have access to. Like real coffee and food for one. Deryk made his way towards Cass and the others. It looked like they had a pretty good group here so far, so it shouldn't be too hard to clear... Right?

He was for from depressed not good enough to growly possessive of Cass. If a guy joked about her, he was there, angry and ready to 'defend' her honor, (even if no insult had been said). Heck, any time a guy mentioned her, Marcus would glare and begin mentally listing why they were not good enough for her. He wasn't good enough, but no other man and Deus ex was. The voiced egged those feelings on, yet Dis was trying, trying desperately to keep Marcus tethered to reality.
Still, he gave her space. Actually more like avoided, but, point was he left her alone for a good majority of what she wanted to do. The sound of her claiming to go up had him moving though, wanting to see her. Protect her. Not like the island. Quietly, the moon trainee slunk behind them. He might have been giving looks at Jordan and Deryk. They better not be moving in on Cass. She was above them.
Internally, Dis was banging his head against a wall.

It seemed they were going to get a bit of group heading up! That'd be a nice change of pace from her last attempt at a solo-run. However, she passed half a look at Marcus as he seemed to linger at the edge of their little group, a small sigh escaping her, before she scratched the back of her head and looked to Candace with a small smile. "Yeah, I... I had a small fit the other day and it ended badly - though I think my phone took the brunt of the damage. Smashed it right into the floor." she confessed sheepishly.
It was kind of embarrassing to admit she'd had such an emotional outburst after the fact.
"Looks like we're getting a good variety of divisions here. That should help a bunch!" she grinned, seeming just a bit more excited than she was before. Sun, Moon, Death, and two Mists. Which meant if at least one of them covered healing they'd have a pretty well rounded team. If they had another blocker that would have been pretty good too - at least, she had to assume that was what Marcus was going to do.
"If anybody else wants to tag along, you're free to catch up later!" she chimed into the room before she stretched, then moved to step through the portal.
--
The main building looked like a few people had already done a sweep through it, but there was still some obvious clean up needing to happen, Cass stepping inside cautiously as she summoned Nicodemus, squeezing the weapon in both hands as she stepped into the building, a few stray papers here and there and some scattered furniture - the signs of mess from other struggles and the dash to get out when the Phoenix had hit - littered about.
Still, it seemed she'd barely stepped in when one of the smaller creatures had come running out of hiding and launched at the group - it was kind of adorable in a way.

A fit? She must have..slept through it. She did sleep for two whole days. It felt amazing. But the whole phone smashing thing did explain why Cass hadn't answered her text. Oops. "Ohhh, okay. Hopefully when we get things cleared out they'll give you a replacement." It wouldn't do for her to not have a cell phone.
When Cass got excited about the variety of divisions Candace smiled. "I can take on Life, too. Fight while also healing when needed." She couldn't stand aside, but she couldn't not bring bandages. What if someone really needed them?
She walked alongside Cass, glancing between her and Marcus. This was strange..usually the two were almost literally connected at the hip. But now? They looked..uncomfortable being around each other. Candace draped an arm around the girl's shoulders and leaned in to give her a friendly kiss on the temple as they walked. "Everything okay, Chickadee? Usually you're a ball of sunshine and positivity." Candace asked quietly, her lips still close to Cass' ear. A private conversation was hard with so many around but she didn't want to make the girl feel like she needed to spill the beans for all to hear. There was no such thing as privacy right now, but Candace was going to fight damn hard to get it back.
Candace looked up when she saw something moving.
...Oh my god. "It's like...a minipet made of fog..." Until it bit her ankle, anyway. Candace hissed and shook it off, summoning Atropos punting the stupid creature into a wall. "Son of a b***h."

After Marcus came by, Deryk looked around at the others. They had a pretty solid group here so far for sure. Nodding, he grinned weakly and went on to follow Cass towards the main building. He still needed to keep his mind off of a few things and doing missions like these helped.. sort of.
It kept him busy at least.
It was probably a good thing he missed that look from Marcus earlier.
"Man. Place is trashed," he remarked before a small critter came running at them.
It didn't seem like it was going to be a problem. And indeed, it was like a minipet almost. Candace quickly punted it. Running, Deryk tried to see if he could catch it. Why? Well. Why not? Well. Unfortunately. Or perhaps fortunately... the fog critter ended up getting skewered onto his hidden blade as he caught it. It died.
"Oh. Well then."

Small fit- no, it was his fault for that but really, she didn't need him. Phone was gone though, which..he regret that. No more cute texts and pictures. His head filled with the 'garbage' Dis was trying to shove out. Not good enough, not worth anything, she was better. The weapon was closing to throwing a fit. Well. As best a fit a weapon could have. As he summoned the blade, he winced, a crack of energy seeming to emit from Dis as he went back to his negative thoughts. Stop that. The vampire hissed, drowning out the voices. The weapon had to sadly, deal with waves of anger as Candace kissed Cass. It didn't matter to him that it was a friendly kiss, it was a kiss and he was not happy about it. "Why don't we keep to the task at hand right?" He tried to keep his voice neutral, but it didn't meet his eyes. The clatter of something, Marcus didn't have much time to turn as a creature came right at him. "Son of a b***h." Quote: 34-65: A large, semi-solid creature barrels into you! "Alright, I'll try and cover when needed then." she said, giving Candace a small thumbs up. She was pretty OK at defending, so between herself and Marcus, they'd keep everything at an even keel. All the defending. All of it.
Cass just smiled again. "I...I think so. Just a few bumps, that's all." she explained with a small sigh, falling back as the first creature was bounced between Candace and Deryk while trying to hold in a small laugh at its ultimate fate a-la mobkabob.
Still, Marcus's snip drew her attention to him with a small frown, before she stepped in to swing at the creature approaching him. "Yeah, right. Whatever." she sighed back, even as the creature turned on her, sinking its teeth into her knee and causing her to make a small noise before she shot it off of her leg and kicked it away from her.
"God dammit that hurt!"

While Cass tried to hold it in Candace had no shame in laughing at the fate of the tiny fog-formed creature. It was funny, okay? She couldn't do that again if she tried! She grinned and gave Deryk a thumb's up. "Pfft. Good teamwork."
Suddenly Marcus spoke up and she raised a brow, looking his way. "..We are. But I think we're about due for a little bit of fun. It's been a long month...I sure as hell could use something fun and cheerful in my life right now." And she didn't have the benefit of having a significant other to just fall into the arms of like Marcus and Cass did. Though this was strange, seeing the two on a mission together after they had made it clear to her they should never be on the same team lest they get distracted by each other. But here they were keeping their distance from each other, acting tense. Even Cass' reply to Marcus' snippy comment had her frowning. Something was wrong.
The next creature got her attention and forced her to stop thinking about it, wincing as it got Cass' knee. "Careful!" She came to Cass' aid, giving the creature a hard kick with the bladed edge of Atropos' boot. It shrieked and burst into fog again.
"..Well, that was easy."

Deryk stared at Marcus for a few moments. Guy must have been in a bad mood or something. Or maybe he was just that clingy of Cass. The death trainee made a mental note of this. Stay away from Cass. Right.
Hearing Candace's warning, he quickly turned around to try and see what was there. The critter was disposed of rather easily. In general, he found these little monsters to be pretty easy to take care of. Though, before he could move anywhere else just yet, a gray form came flying right at him. The trainee ducked as it sailed right over his head, before it charged at one of the others. It was a fast little bugger for sure.
"Ah! Get it!"

Cass laughed a bit at Jordan's comment. "Pinball with tiny creatures. Guess we should start a point tally if that's what we're up to!" she smirked, shifting Nicodemus in her hand as she moved in to work on herding the creature into a position where it couldn't attack back. Yes, that meant she wouldn't be able to attack, but....
"Candace, will you get this for me dear?" she asked, passing her older comrade a sweet smile.

"There needs to be more sound effects. Then this is really pinball." She wasn't disagreeing, just adding in things to make it better. She watched Cass, nodding as the girl asked for help.
"Of course, honey." Candace grinned, ducking around Cass. It was good that the creature was cornered, and though it did as any cornered animal would do and lashed out at her Candace went untouched thanks to Cass. She jumped, lifting her leg and bringing it back down. The talon on her heel dug itself into the creature's neck, bringing it down to the floor. It shrieked, struggling against the woman standing on its neck.
"Someone finish it off!" She called out, holding her arms out to keep her balance. The angle of her foot would make it easy to throw her off. Stupid idea was stupid.
