A day or two had passed since the return of Star and the other Rockets from the mission to rescue the kidnapees at Galactic HQ. It would be another day or two before Star took his placement exam to find out where he'd be working. In the meanwhile the ex-Galactic found himself in a frustrating limbo without much to do.

He was used to having a job to occupy him. The free time made him feel useless. He'd spent the morning working on some flying practice but since then was completely bored.

That's why, when Tambrey returned from her daily duties, she'd be confronted by what Star had found to occupy his time. Fortunately he hadn't destroyed anything or angered any more superiors (at least as far as she'd know). Instead, he'd been redecorating. A lot.

Star had emptied the contents of his bag and used them to transform the room. The ugly drapes had been torn down and replaced with a deep red military banner that fit over the window nicely. It bore the emblem that Star wore on his jacket and shirt; large and black. The light filtering through the fabric cast the room in a muted red.

He'd finished making his bed, adding a matching red and black blanket over his sheets. The walls on his side of the room had been decorated with neatly arranged schematics and another image of the emblem that meant so much to him. At the end of his bed a row of tables had been lined up to form a work station. His mechanical creations sat on the tables, along with a spread of tools.

Star's half of the room, while dark and not terribly cheerful, looked crisp, organized and comfortable.

Of more interest, perhaps, was Tambrey's side of the room. The tables that now made up his makeshift workspace once housed his roomate's books and other belongings, which were now gathered in a pile on the floor. The small chest of drawers that once resided at the foot of her bed had also vanished. Its contents joined the pile of her belongings. Though Star already had a chest of drawers at the foot of his bed he had apparently decided he needed another, because Tambrey's was currently stacked on top of his, facing his workspace.

Sky had perched atop the stacked furniture to watch Star who, after his episode of room rearranging, had settled at his new workspace to make some modifications to his gauntlets. A strange-looking Magnemite sat on the floor beside his chair, powering the tool he was currently using via a cord plugged just to the right of its eye.

A loud booming noise (and noted was the curious absence of the new room mate) was not the most pleasant way to wake up, especially when one had spent the past month as a prisoner dreading noises that could mean death, though always seemed to mean torture for someone...
She'd taken to sleeping with either a pokeball to hand, Palu in the bed, or both and, upon being woken by a terrifying boom, she'd snapped her eyes open and commanded Palu to 'Wing Attack' before she'd even been really aware of what was going on.
There hadn't been any sleep after that- and Star might have found a note left on his pillow regarding the noise- so Tambrey had sat up to read, then get ready for the day.
It hadn't been the easiest day; sure, she knew what she was doing in the labs and the work wasn't exactly complicated but it -was- harder to do while she was 'jumpy' and being a little too careful, lest she get someone, or herself, taken and beaten. That was a hard feeling to shake.
Arriving back at the room, she was already feeling drained, wanting nothing more than than to grab her towel for a shower, dump her uniform for the day, and spend the evening reading and resting befor- What in the name of Artemis had happened to the room?!
She'd opened the door, taken a half step and blinked.
Different.
Cautiously she stepped back, closed the door and checked the number (yep, right number) then took a breath to prepare herself.
The grunt opened the door and walked back in, this time letting her eyes flick from place to place...
Well.. The light was different due to that new... curtain thing. Hm; an improvement at least.
Wait; where were the drawers and... What had he done?!
"Uh... Wha-why-what did... Why is..." None of these words were quite fitting for the situation, though they would all make for reasonable questions.
She was looking at the ex-Galactic between looking around to spot the changes; it was a little overwhelming for a moment to come back to this.
"What in the name of Rassilon did you do?!"

Star looked up. He was wearing a pair of dark tinted goggles and holding a spark welder. He stared at Tambrey a moment, one thick eyebrow arching over his goggles as he took in her tired posture and angry expression. He glanced at the room, then back at Tambrey, "Is that a hypothetical question? Because I'd say it's rather obvious. I redecorated." He turned his attention back to his project. "These tables are too short. I'll require a proper desk. They'll work in the meantime though." He touched the end of the welder to a seam on the gloves, resulting in a blast of bright sparks.

From the floor the Magnemite supplying power to the welder watched Tambrey. The strange little pokémon looked to have undergone some extensive upgrades at some point. Most of his spherical body was covered by a white layered metal shell. Its eye was covered by a glowing blue lense and had two movable plates serving as eyelids. It looked in bad repair. Its shell was dirty and dented and the lense over its eye was cracked.

It raised its lower eyelid in a sort of smile as it looked up at Tambrey. "Mite!"

Somewhere in the back of her mind, it had registered just what he was doing and what he was wearing, and she was making a note to find out just how much of a fire-risk this was...
"Redecorated is hardly the word! My stuff was in those drawers! Those tables did not come with this room and are not, as far as I know, fire retardant!"
She was glaring and a bit shouty (mixed with a weary disbelief), but at 5'3 trying to square up looked, perhaps, a little comical compared to Star's height.
"Did you... not think I might not want you to... do this? I -definitely- didn't want you to go through my things and... toss them all around the room! And..." She paused for breath, eyed the Magnemite warily (well, she -thought- it might be a Magnemite under there anyway) and then finished her rant. "You better not have broken anything... I want it back the way it was." She considered ranting about the condition of the electric type, too, but having started on this, she'd approach one subject at a time.
Her eyes did travel to the odd pokemon for a second glance though; wary of, but interested in the electric type.
Curiosity would have to wait its turn though, while 'upset' and 'angry' had their moments together.

Seeing that he wasn't going to get any more work done Star heaved a dramatic sigh and turned the welder off, "I know what I'm doing. I'm not going to set anything on fire. The tables might have a singe or two but let's face it, they're not exactly showroom quality pieces." He set the welder down and removed his goggles, "Trust me, my need of them is greater than yours. If you're so concerned about having them back then you can find me a desk. As to your belongings, I didn't break anything. So you can stop complaining and go do whatever it is you do." He made a shooing motion.

The magnemite continued to stare happily at Tambrey, ignored by Star.

Tambrey did not look convinced and her expression only hardened as he first put down on the tables and then continued to... well, to be himself, but she was a little too annoyed to think about that right now.
"The quality of them 's not the point! I didn't give you permission t' just take my furniture, nor would I /ever/ give you permission to start rooting around in my things or tipping them out where you like and I am -not- finding you a desk! You are not a superior here; 's just a grunt room, 'may contain' grunts- we're in here, both grunts. 'S an equal position... /Personal/ rules apply, not... hierarchical, if that's a real word and if it's not, it should be!" She accompanied this rant with gestures, ending with jabby little points at Star, apparently getting more angry and exasperated with it.
"And it's /science/ by the way." She added the last bit impulsively, fed up with his tone.

Poor Wheatley would have gotten a lot more attention by now had she not been angry and, as it was, the attention he did get was;
"And /that/ needs a bath and probably... repairs!" Or a vet? She wasn't sure...

Star glared at Tambrey through the rant. Her yelling and jabbing didn't seem to be frightening him at all. If anything, it looked like some of her anger was rubbing off on him.

When she concluded he glanced briefly at Wheatley, then looked back at Tambrey. Eyes narrowing, he climbed out of his chair to take full advantage of the fact he towered over her. "You're right." He answered tightly, "It is an equal position. Which is why I'd suggest you stop giving me orders." The end of his sentence dropped into a deep threatening pitch aided by his strange reverberating voice.

"I have pressing need of this furniture." He gestured at the tables, "So I'm going to use it. I've made more unreasonable compromises since my arrival here than I'd care to list. I'm quite certain you can do without your substandard tables for several days." He lifted his chin and straightened up, making himself as tall as possible as he looked down at Tambrey, "Regardless, I'm not sure what you expect to do about it."
PostPosted: Sun Apr 29, 2012 9:40 pm

... Frak, he was tall.
Star was 'spindly' in the chair and a little mantis-like to her, but she'd managed to forget that he was actually more or less a living tree in height. One of those twiggy, slim trees, but still a tree.
If there was a falter, she hid it well (though perhaps stiffened in posture) because she seemed perfectly happy to continue the argument.
"Those, apart from wanting my stuff back and at least an apology for taking it and for dumping my stuff on the floor, are not orders but advice!" She wasn't going to add 'and concern', though that was what had brought out the talk of baths and repairs; the poor creature -looked- smiley but not exactly healthy in that condition.
"I shouldn't have to do without them, or the drawers! They weren't yours to take, nor do I think you really -need- them, but if you'd -asked-, I might have at least let you borrow the tables! The drawers have stuff in 'em for a -reason- and 's not so people can go through, or tip other peoples' stuff out of them!"
The grunt might have been prepared to accept an apology (or several) until Star made his last comment; she frowned and drew a pokeball from her belt, but seemed to hesitate at using it, as if thinking on it now she had it in her hand.

Star squinted down his nose at Tambrey's protests, looking annoyed and unimpressed. When she answered his challenge by pulling out a poké ball he arched an eyebrow. Well well.. the little girl was more assertive than he expected.

He demonstrated what he thought of this by laughing. It was a loud raspy cackle. "Don't tell me you expect to fight me." He plucked Scream's ball off his belt and held it in the air like a threat. "Are you sure you want to do that? Over tables?"
PostPosted: Mon Apr 30, 2012 6:00 am

Well, no. She didn't really want to at all; she /wanted/ to come back to her room, with her stuff as she'd left it and relax until tomorrow. Fighting over furniture really wasn't something she'd ever planned on doing, but then;
"It's -not- about the tables! It's that you... don't seem t' have any intention of following common courtesy or decency!"
Her eyes went to Scream's pokeball warily, then tracked back up to his face, with that expression, laughing and threatening up there.
Well, fine then.
"Yes I want t' do this." Apparently she'd still been considering his favoured type while angrily ranting, for as she stepped back and clicked the release a black and red, ladybug-patterned, Aron emerged from the red light.

Star's eyes narrowed. "Very well." He clicked the button on Scream's ball. The large bird appeared in a flash of red light. Suddenly the room was very crowded. Scream occupied a lot of the small space. He glanced around, looking uncomfortably confined in the little room. His eyes passed over the little Aron, then to Star.

Star knew what Scream was thinking. He couldn't fly in here. It didn't matter, they'd make short work of this with or without flight. "Air slash."

"Pidgeoooot!" Scream shrieked and advanced on the small steel type, flapping a wing at it like a blade.

Wheatley watched from the floor, waggling his magnets excitedly. A battle! He got to watch a battle!

Sky shuffled on his perch atop the stacked drawers, watching Scream.

At least the bed was there, but still...
It was a little embarrassing when, as Scream appeared, Tambrey managed to stumble backwards, having slightly forgotten just how large that particular bird would be and how small the room was.
A battle was... a terrible idea, but it didn't look like there'd be a chance to get out of it now.
"Gah! Uh, Ella, use Iron Defense and follow up with Metal Claw!"
A fully evolved pokemon, even if a flying type... It was rather worrying, none of her pokemon were fully evolved and she didn't have the most impressive track record in training battles.

Ella didn't really know why she'd been called out to battle, nor why they were in the room; she'd liked to have talked to her opponent first and address the polite formalities of a fight, but this, apparently, was not a training, nor friendly, match.
She found herself facing a flying type- a huge one- after barely any time out of her ball and suddenly being attacked and given orders.
"Ron!" She nodded her little head in affirmation of receiving her instructions and glowed a faint blue as the Air Slash made contact...
It hurt, certainly, but it seemed, at least, that she could fight on... It hadn't hurt anywhere near as much as some other attacks she'd suffered through.
A little claw was then raised, almost like she intended to parry a further Air Slash, but glowing white with the attack. Ella then attempted to swipe at the flying type, having to reach up to do so.

Tambrey's surprised stumble fueled Star's confidant grin. The day had been long and boring.. he'd felt useless through most of it, but suddenly he was getting the ego boost he needed. Frightening his roomate probably wasn't the best way to get his kicks but he'd take it from wherever he could get it.

When Scream's air slash proved disappointingly ineffective he shot the little metal creature an angry glare and spread his wings menacingly, just in time to take the aron's retaliatory metal claw. Scream shrieked his displeasure and flapped his wings, knocking a few things off shelves and other surfaces in the process.

Star took a step back to give the bird more room, "Agility and another air slash."

"Pidge!" Scream shot forward in a dark blur and delivered another razor-like blast of air.

Excited to see the battle, Wheatley drifted in front of his trainer, magnets spinning happily.

Tambrey frowned as things were knocked around; it was bad enough all her stuff had been turfed out of place and furniture 'claimed', but now the room was just going to be a mess- perhaps things broken.
She tried to put it out of her mind though so that she could focus back on the battle.
Whoa.
Okay, speedy... Her little steel type certainly wouldn't be able to dodge, but unless she flinched, Tambrey wasn't too worried about the Air Slash.
"Iron Defense quick! Don't faint! Try and come back with Headbutt!" The grunt yelled, sat back on the bed because it was the most 'out of the way' point she could think of.
She risked a glance at Star, having caught his rather, well, chilling, really, look from before, but now had her attention drawn to the odd Magnemite thing, floating close to him.

Ella glowed blue once more while standing her ground as the Agility-fueled Air Slash made contact.
She was rather outmatched but 'Iron Defense', plus her type, helped her to remain standing, ready to deliver that Headbutt at the first chance she got.

Star tensed, looking impatient as Ella absorbed the second attack. This was ridiculous... by all rights Scream should have been able to end the fight in one hit. But hindered by the space of the room, he only had one attack available to him.

The impact of the headbutt sent Scream stumbling back. He was looking about as frustrated as his master.

Star looked from Scream to Ella to Tambrey, then to the window. "Hmpf.." Rather unexpectedly, he darted into the battlefield as he ran for the window, "Carry it outside!" He shouted at Scream as he reached to shove the glass panel open.

Scream puffed his feathers, shrieked and flapped his great wings. He rose off the ground, stirring up gusts that scattered loose objects. Once airborne he dove at Ella, intent on grabbing her in his claws.
