Sure, Guy had been around his friends before - that was kind of obvious - but the was the first time since coming to Kodo that someone had actually invited him over to their apartment, especially considering how short of a time the two have known each other. Granted, Guy did not think poorly of Yuri at all, and he even quite enjoyed the other man's company, but the sudden request for Guy to come over and visit the lone apartment was surprising at best. As far as Guy could remember, Yuri didn't have any particular reason for the invitation, and so Guy was somewhat hesitant because of that, but he tried to keep as open a mind as he could.

Guy had no Ghostly companion today, thinking it better if Anonymes stayed behind with the others. He did not want to risk his rather eccentric Lampent destroying something of Yuri's. The little Ghost would never have forgiven himself if something like that happened, and so Guy stood outside Yuri's apartment door alone, checking and double-checking the address to be sure he had the correct. Once he had made completely sure, Guy raised his hand and rapped his knuckles on the door.

Luke had attempted to make a point of not remaining horrified or frightened for very long, and by and large he was doing an okay job of it. Though quieter than usual, he had quickly regained the ability to converse normally, so long as the subject stayed far away from the incident in the warehouse. He was already starting to feel guilty about taking advantage of Yuri's charity, but if he returned to the hotel then he would have to face Emil and Guy, and he simply didn't feel as though he could do that. His guilt was somewhat eased, though, by the fact that he had been assigned the task of keeping up with the dishes. And damn did he hate washing those things, but he supposed it wasn't much of a price to pay given what he was receiving in return. Whatever.

Whatever indeed, until the task presented itself again. He stood absently at the sink, fulfilling his assignment with surprising diligence, the white noise of running water drowned out by earbuds pushing their music into his head. Soundlessly he mouthed the lyrics; recently, it was almost rare to see him without his mp3 in use, sometimes even humming quietly with the music when he became disconnected enough from his surroundings. The sound at the door went completely unnoticed.

Yuri was more than happy to have Luke wash the dishes. It meant he didn't have to do it, and he had to keep the kid busy somehow. The man was sitting in the large single window that his small apartment had, one leg dangling outside. From that vantage point, he was able to see Guy walking towards the complex. He was also passing the time by giving Luke's sword a thorough cleaning. The weapon had gone neglected since the incident and would be ruined if remained untouched. Plus it was just disgusting.

Repede lifted his head, hearing and smelling Guy's approach before he even knocked on the door. When he did though, Yuri climbed out of the window and set the sword on the bed to go pull the door open.

"Hey," he greeted, stepping aside to let Guy in before tilting his head in Luke's direction. "I have something that belongs to you."

The door opened and there was Yuri inviting him in. Guy raised a hand in greeting, replying with a friendly "Hey," but he stopped at Yuri's next statement. Guy's gaze followed where Yuri gestured and he was surprised to find Luke there, appearing to be washing dishes. Eyes widening, Guy stepped in hurriedly and made his way over to his younger friend. "Luke, there you are! I haven't seen you for days!" Before he reached the red-head, Guy paused and turned around, addressing Yuri with confusion written in his expression. "Wait, has he been with you this entire time?"

Luke remained more or less oblivious to the circumstances as they developed until Guy appeared at his side. His initial response was a brief, if not abject, panic, retreating a few steps with his hands slightly raised as if in defense. Faintly aware that he probably seemed ridiculous, he consciously calmed himself, managing as much as a sheepish smile. "Uh... hey." What the hell was Guy doing here anyway? He had been making a pretty damn good effort to stay out of contact and now here he was, like some kind of homing device. He didn't want to talk to Guy. He couldn't talk to Guy.

"Yep," Yuri replied to Guy's question nonchalantly as he took up Luke's sword again, tossing it in the air and letting it spin a few times before catching it by the hilt once more. This was a nice sword.

He then sat back in his window spot again and continued cleaning the blade, leaving the two of them alone unless spoken to.

Luke's response to his appearance was more than troubling for Guy, and his brow furrowed as he took another tentative step towards his friend. Something was up, that was for sure. Something happened that had upset Luke somehow, just like it was when he found out that Asch was his twin. Guy had no explanation for what would make Luke run away like that for a second time, but damned if he wasn't going to find out.

"'Hey?' That's all that you have to say? Luke, this is the second time you've pulled this disappearance act. I can tell something's up, and I want to know what it is." His eyes glanced over to the sink filled with various dishes, his arms folded in front of his chest. "Besides, last time I checked, doing the dishes isn't exactly part of your daily routine."

He came to realize that he was looking at the ground and promptly redirected his gaze to meet Guy's, as difficult as it was. His eyes would wander away once more before too long. "What, something's gotta be up for a guy to want a change of pace? It's nothing." He gave his best effort to keep a nonchalance to his tone, but the effect was certainly impacted by his continued inability to keep eye contact. "If you wanna know about that," he jerked a thumb in Yuri's direction at mention of the dishes thing, "talk to that guy. His idea." In fact, just talk to that guy in general. He was better conversation anyway, probably. Anything to get out of this confrontation.

Despite focusing his attention on the sword cleaning, Yuri was in fact listening.

"Hey, a man's gotta earn his keep," was his offered explanation for the dishes. Just because Luke was a noble didn't mean Yuri would let him off the hook. Just the opposite really.

Luke's argument was admittedly somewhat sound, but Guy still didn't buy it. If Luke was compliantly performing chores, even at the request of the master of the household, Guy knew that something was amiss. Luke hardly ever did chores, and even when he did, it was almost always met with grumbling or complaints. Guy took a deep breath, trying his best to remain patient with his friend.

"Luke, come on. We both know that I know you better than that. If something's bothering you, then I want to understand. I want to help you however I can." The hesitation in his eyes was replaced by a deep worry, and a sigh escaped his lips. "I thought I told you that I was on your side. All I want to do is help." When it came right down to it, help was all he could do. It was all that he ever did.

"I said it's nothing. Nothing's bothering me. Nothing." His nonchalance gave way to the vaguest hints of desperation. There was a part of him that understood that Guy indeed wanted to help and that Guy would probably help even if knew the truth of the matter, but that part was vastly overwhelmed by the knowledge that what had happened was unforgivable. Luke didn't want help, and he didn't want to talk about it. All he wanted was to pretend it had never happened. Why was that so damn hard?

The last thing that Guy wanted to do right now was to argue with this stubborn teen about whether or not something was amiss, which there clearly was. He was fed up with it, and that aggravation shone clearly in his tone and his words as he sat on the arm of the couch. "Oh, just stop it, Luke. Cut the crap. Something's wrong, and we need to talk about it," he said exasperatedly. He did not know why he had suddenly grown so impatient with his young friend, but the words kept flowing .

"As your servant, sir, it is my duty and obligation to take care of you and keep you safe," he said curtly, his emphasis resting on the word 'sir.' As he next spoke, however, his tone softened and his expression grew more worried than angered. "But as your friend, Luke, I want for you to be safe and happy. Is that something that you just can't understand?" Guy was sincerely beginning to wonder if raw, idiotic stubbornness ran in the Fabre family bloodline.

Guy's evident irritation was suffocating to Luke, choking out his airs of nonchalance bit by bit. He drew his shoulders up rigidly, hands clenched tightly, given little choice but to listen to his friend. His posture remained stiff and withdrawn even as Guy's tone and words softened.

"I know," he said firmly. "I know, I know, I know. Dammit, I know that by now!" Of course he understood. How couldn't he, especially after what had happened with Asch months prior? But knowing how good a friend Guy was to him couldn't force words that were impossible to vocalize. "You know I know that. I just can't..." Jaw set, head down, eyes trained on the floor, Luke fought for some way to convey any explanation. "I can't... I-I just can't. I'm-- I'm a coward," as well as he knew it, it still hurt to admit aloud, "and I can't. So please, just... stop asking already."

The stiffness and tone of Luke's words made Guy immediately regret his own. How could he say something so snappy and rude? ...Well, it got the job done, didn't it? At least Luke was actively talking now. Guy had to remain steadfast. If this was indeed painful for Luke, talking about it would be the only thing to help the pain subside. At least, that's what Guy believed.

His expression grew even more worried and shocked as Luke proclaimed himself a coward. As long as Guy had knew the red-head, he could never recall a time Luke had said something like that about himself. Slowly, Guy stood up from the couch and walked over to his younger friend, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Luke, how can you even say that? You're not a coward. You're one of the bravest people I know. You would do anything for your friends, no matter the cost, if you had to," he said, reiterating what he had told Yuri during their first conversation.

He flinched slightly at the hand on his shoulder, his eyes remaining adamantly on the floor. Guy's words, however, revived too-recent memories that he had been giving his all to avoid. To do anything for one's friends regardless of the cost - was that really such a positive trait? He might have thought so, until the anything became defined as running a man through, and until the cost became defined as a man's life and his friends' respect. If that was his own characteristic, then he hated himself.

Even a single thought released a torrent of many, and as little as a passing memory called up impossibly persistent visions of all-too-current events. The trembling that recently only plagued him in sleep returned to his hands as they raised to cover his ears, his eyes tightly shut as if to block out everything outside himself - and even that was too much. "Stop. Just stop. Please." If taking a stranger's life was brave, then it was all he could ask for to be a coward.
