He’d seen her around though they didn’t talk much. In passing on missions, briefly, before the end of the world. Still a moon trainee was a moon trainee and Marcus wanted to meet them. Or at least memorize and know their names so he didn’t feel like an idiot for one reason or another. After the last ‘mission’ of ‘save the world and go nuts because of it’, Marcus was stuck with a few outlets, and one happened to be killing things. Marcus could do killing things.

Dis was pretty much asking him if the infirmary had a spot open for the poor trainee once he was done with them. Marcus wasn’t that much amused. Still when he found her Marcus wore a smile. “Ami, short notice but, was to go on a kill quest topside?”

When she turned him down, Marcus pursed his lips. "Uh-huh. Because me coming over and looking for you directly shows my unwillingness to have you as a partner." His expression softened to a smile as he motioned for her to join him. "Besides, death hunters have their own bonding time. Honestly, we've only spoken a few times on missions and not much else. So, I figure we go out, kill a few things, and bond? I'm not sure if that's the word I want to use, but- sort of like getting to know others in the division."

He grinned. "Look at it this way, you get an excuse to get out of this place for a while."

"Dorms, and don't." Shaking his head, Marcus moved to the portal getting ready to go through to the now overrun dorms. "Don't apologize for what's going on. We're all a bit.. out of it." Speaking of which, Dis was doing pretty well with the voices. Granted, Marcus would rather not hear them at all.

Dis summoned, he stepped through the portal, not waiting up.

(MARCUS Y U NEVER RUN INTO THINGS?)

Nodding, the click of boots on the floor echoed down the hall, along with the sound of Dis humming, keeping the voices at bay now. He needed to be focused, and the voices were a heavy distraction. "This shouldn't take long. We'll probably get back-" Her cry of his name, Dis was held up, ready for another attack.
"How much practice have you gotten defending Ami?"

-3 hp for each hit/miss

As the creature swirled around them, Marcus kept his gaze on it rather than Ami. "Try. The best experience is on the field right?" He motioned to his legs, "Keep your feet apart, but make sure you have a good solid balance. It should feel natural, as you should be able to move your weapon where it needs to go at a moment's notice." He motioned at the monster. "Try to block it when I attack. Remember, it shouldn't feel forced. Keep your balance."

He laughed as she was knocked back. "Good job." It wasn't mocking, "Get up, and be quick! They knock you down you have to get right back up. And don't think you'll get it the first time." Slashing at it, he sighed at the blade his air.

"As you can see I still ******** up, no one is perfect."

"We all start somewhere. It's why we're trainees. It's nothing to really be ashamed about." The irony of the fact he was giving a pep talk when he felt much the same, was lost on Marcus. The creature got Ami again, and he winced. He winced again when Cass came up.

Awkward.

"Yes. But-" He sighed. "Probably not for very long. She too good for me. She's good you know. A bit headstrong, but sweet and kind. She cares a lot about people and-" He swung, smiling at his blade connected even if he got hit himself. "She's better than me."

In love, yet not confident of his own worth. The creature still had some kick to it as it lunged for Marcus. A quick dodge and- "Wilson's a good guy. Great even, yeah." Another dodge from the creature's attack. "As for selling myself short-"

He stabbed at the creature, feeling claw connect before he could pull back. "Highly doubtful."
