Level 0 - Red Zone RPs

This is SDRP's Level 0 subforum where the Red Zone RPs go to die. Red Zone RPs are ones that simply do not meet minimum standards so they're not something you want to be a part of.

What is this subforum for?

RPs that do not meet minimum standards: Basically if you didn't put much effort into your RP then it's going to end up here. Specific standards are listed below.

Dead RPs: Sometimes decent RPs die and we don't want to trash them completely but they're not advanced enough for the Archive so we put them here until they pick back up. If your RP got put here for inactivity just PM a Crew member to get it moved.

Who can post here?

DO NOT start threads here. You do not want your RP in this place so don't start it here. The Crew will determine what level your RP (which should be started in the main forum) belongs in and move it there. We will notify you when this is done. If your RP does end up here you can continue posting replies to it but we would rather you do what you were asked when the thread was moved to try and improve it so your RP could be moved up to Level 1. Sometimes that's just a matter of reviving it, sometimes you'll need to do a little work on polishing your setup.

For information on how to start RP threads please read the How do I start an RP? section of the SDRP Guide.

Who's in charge of this place?

Each of our dedicated Crew is in charge of at least one of the guild's subforums and this one is run by all of us. Any questions, comments, or concerns pertaining to this Sub-Forum may be directed to any member of the SDRP Crew.

What if I want to move up?

Sometimes an RP will grow out of the level it started in. These RPs can be moved up to a higher level with Crew approval. To do this just PM the Crew in charge of the next level. Include the following in your graduation request:

- Title the PM 'RP Graduation Request'
- Link to the RP you would like to be moved up
- Explain why your RP belongs in a higher level
- Give specific examples with links to posts where these examples exist

Only the thread creator should submit requests for RP graduation unless the creator has abandoned that thread for longer than 3 months and the players have managed to keep it running.

What are these standards things?

Standards are minimum requirements for a given classification - in this case a measure of RP quality. The lower the level, the lower the standards, the lower the quality. Red Zone RPs are the lowest quality and something we would like to avoid.

The following are the characteristics of a Red Zone RP.

Technical Writing
Technical errors include mistakes in grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Red Zone RPs tend to be rife with technical errors often making them hard to understand. Common technical errors include but are not limited to:
- Misspelling or using the wrong words
- Using ellipsis ( ... ), dashes, and other punctuation to construct run-on sentences.
- Not spacing paragraphs
- Improper capitalization. The beginning of every sentence should be capitalized as should proper nouns (names).
- Using :: or ~ or * in place of quotation marks or to show action.

Preparation
Preparation helps players join the RP. Preparation includes the length and detail of the setup and any explanation of rules. Red Zone RPs have very little preparation. Red Zone RPs often have only a sentence or two to explain the RP to the players, often with no rules or explanation of how to join. Any RP that looks like it took 5 minutes to think up and write up is probably a Red Zone RP.

Style
Skillful writing and wordplay should be used to give an RP some style to engage and entertain the reader. Red Zone RPs do not have the skill to pull this off. Keep in mind that it's hard to fit style into a two sentence introduction!

GM Character(s)
A GM's character should reflect the level of effort that the GM expects from the other players without taking center stage. Red Zone RPs often either do not have a character profile for the GM, the profile shows a lack of realism, or the RP is clearly centered around the GM's character as the "main" or most important character with little room for any other characters to make a splash.

Screening
A screening process should be stated clearly within an RP's setup. Red Zone RPs often do not screen new players at all. In Red Zone RPs GMs may allow characters who obviously do not fit into the RP, such as characters who are made for a different genre or that greatly over-(or under)power other player characters.

Aesthetics
GMs should put effort into their RP to make it organized, readable, and eye catching. Red Zone RPs often have the entire set up in the first post with little or no organization. Sometimes RPs at this level are hard to read and look unprofessional.
