Rena had a lot to take in with her mothers request. Being asked to help repopulate for the sake of the pride was a heavy load to carry on her chest. Bura had not been the kindest when she introduced the idea to her daughter. Now Rena was left with her head full of all kinds of thoughts. Namely, how and why and when.
The yellow jackal needed some time to be alone and so she'd wandered away from the traveling troupe of jackal for just a short time. She was hopeful to maybe come upon a rabbit or something to bring back so that her walk wouldn't be a complete waste of time. Or rather, Bura wouldn't see it as a complete waste of time.
The group had recently dined on the remains of an old fallen lion that had baked in the sun for a few days before they'd found it. Eating this rancid meat was just a reminder of where the pack stood in the food chain. They might not have been at the tippy top but they had powerful jaws to catch those who fell all the way from up there. Still, this meant that the pack was good on food for a day or two more. That didn't mean that Bura would want to eat nothing for those days.
So the yellow jackal set off in search of possible food. Seemed like something to do to clear her head at the very least.

Opka had watched his younger sister slip off from the group and had followed after her. It was true, Opka was the oldest of the two and the two did not share the same litter, but , Opka was still a great deal smaller then his sister in size. He was the runt and he seemed to not be aware of this or of his uselessness in most areas of life.
As best he could, the jackal stalked the grass as if he was more feline then canine. Only... with out any of the graces a feline tended to possess. Still he managed to go unheard and unnoticed for this long. The small male jackal decided to press his luck just a little and scoot up just a little closer. A yellow jackal tail was just in sight! Closer and closer still, Opka scooted. Something cracked under his paw though which made Rena's head whip around so fast the dark male didn't know what to do. So hi hid behind the grass as best he could... which wasn't very good. Opka was in plain sight.

"Opka!?" Rena was confused why her older brother was following her around. Had Bura sent him out as her eyes and ears? She wouldn't put it past her mother. The way that Opka was attempting to hide in plain sight just made Rena roll her eyes a bit.
"You really think I can't see you or something?" The female nudged him with one of her paws. "Your a bit of an insult to spies everywhere Opka. What are you doing out here?" Her tone was dry. Rena was just a hair annoyed. That was really putting her feelings lightly.

The dark jackal froze up unsure if he should run or stay put. Either way he was probably going to get it from either Bura or Rena. The Rena option seemed just a tad better so the male stayed put. Slowlly he untangled his body from the petrified mess it had been just moments ago. Timidly he took a small step forward. The puppy eyes were already in effect and he was ready to plead.
"Rena I saw you leaving and.. and ... I figured I could help if you were on the hunt?" There were small whimpering noises coming from the pup. He truly was sorry. That much was clear. And he was truly afraid from the posture of his stance and the tail tucked between his legs and his ears flattened right up against his head. He was very scared. It was surprising that Opka had yet to piss him self. If he was pushed any further, he might.

Rena sat there and stared. Her cold eyes were trained on her older brother while thoughts of what to do with him danced about her mind. She couldn't very well kill him for this. Bura would probably take her life for that after she'd birthed a litter of pups. No need for her after her usefulness was out lived. Inwardly, Rena shuttered at the thought.
"Fine. Go find us a hare then. Scare it out of a hole if you like just make your self useful some how and I'll let you help," Pretty much that was helping. Rena continued to give Opka her cold and harsh stare she'd inherited from her mother.

Opkas tail wagged. So after all he'd end up helping any ways! He let out a few puppy like yips of excitement and a bit of a circle run before he ran to the field. A slew of creatures were disturbed from their resting places and out in to the field. Which might have sounded like a good thing, but really it wasn't. When the prey were aware they were being hunted so obviously it complicated things.

Rena could only watch in a half horror as her older brother went ahead and ruined the hunt. Mind you she didn't originally come out her to hunt for things, but it was still a huge pain in her rear to have to witness such stupidity. Bura would probably be really pissed if she were to witness this. Maybe thats why Rena did not lift a paw to stop her older brother.
Instead, the jackal joined in the 'herding' of the prey. Yips and barks echoed through the savanna. Surely, Bura had heard. But the dark female had yet to show her self so Rena and Opka continued their more of a play like hunt then actual hunt. Rena wasn't thinking of the possible unwanted attention they might end up drawing to them selves.
It wasn't til she saw three shadowy lion like figures in the far off distance did she actually stop. Opka continued, but Rena stayed still. Two more figures joined the three.
"Opka... we best be going..." She looked to her brother who now had his head lodged down a hole. He pulled his head up with a neat like pop and looked at his younger sister a bit confused.
"Opka... Lions..." Rena looked back over to where she had seen the five figures only to find there were none. Rena knew better then to think it was safe though. The tall grasses here favored the hunt.
"Opka lets go!" She grabbed the males ear with her teeth and began dragging him back towards their make shift pack. They needed to get to the den as fast as possible.
"Oww! You can let go! I believed you!" The male whimpered and Rena let go. Only... now they could see one lions shadowy figure near by. Its golden gaze were fixated on the two of them. "Uh... RUN!" Opka yipped and started for the den. Rena was close after but so were two of the lionesses. The two scrambled through the thick of the grass til they reached a make shift den they were small enough to fit in. No time was wasted. Rena pushed Opka inside first then allowed her self to slide down to seemingly safety.
A frustrated roar could be heard and one of the females even tried to swipe at them while they were down in the hole. But, the two were safe. They'd have to probably stay down there for some time before it was safe to leave. Rena could only hope the lions did not catch scent of the rest of their group.
