"No! We are not taking a pit stop so that you can go to that bathroom. Now pipe down and keep walking!"
Nema's voice filled the air around her, and echoed off of the mountains nearby. She had been traveling for days, not really sure what she was doing or where she was going. She was simply listening. Listening to the demands the stars had laid down for her. They had told her to walk, and find the sign. The sign of what? She had no clue, but her family seemed to think she'd know it when she saw it.
With a sigh, she growled with irritation, and rolled her eyes. Her head snapping back behind her to a blank empty space. "I SAID NO PIT STOPS!" Nema's ears reared back against her head as the sound hit her ears. "Let's just find this sign so we can go home OK?" Changing her expression from one of anger and irritation to it's original sweet and innocent manner, the lioness began to hum a small tune. The entire time skipping to the beat of her own oddly rythmetic drum.

The sound of another lion quickly put Maswali on alert. She wasn't very fond of meeting other lions. Especially in the middle of the day right smack dab in the middle of nowhere. With her ears flicked back against her head, she curled her tail protectively around her body. She wasn't about to be caught off guard.
With her slouch low to the ground, she slowly crawled her way along the ground. All the while staying hidden behind the female and the high grass behind her.
As she snuck closer, she realized the lioness seemed to be talking to someone. But, with a quick glance anyone's eye would have told them she was quite alone in the clearing. With a quizzical look on her face, the lioness allowed herself to eavesdrop on the conversation. She was obviously talking with someone.... but who?
She cringed as the other lioness yelled, her tail actually shaking in fear for a moment. But she recovered, oddly perplexed by this female's strange antics. Couple that with her strange ability to go from enraged to happy and skipping again and she was all the mystery Maswali needed.
Losing all common sense, Maswali endged ever closer to the lioness. All the while keeping herself well hidden and downwind of her. But with one foul snap - she ruined everything.

CRRRRRAAACK
The branch hadn't been a large one, but it had been big enough for it's snap to attract Nema's attention. She jumped nearly a foot in the air, and with a yelp regained her composure and went on the alert. But it was pretty useless as a technique, because she was a terrible fighter. She was definitely much more of a lover.
"WHOZAT!?"
She squeaked loudly, cursing under her breath at the high pitched squeak her voice held. Her eyes scanned the area for immediate prey, but she could see nothing. Nothing out of the ordinary anyway, just a large pack of oddly colored lions all cowering around her for support. Not wanting to be the wuss of the group, Nema puffed out her chest and stood tall and ready. Her legs wobbling even as she tried to be brave.
"W-We know you're out there. You might as well come out now. D- Don't make this any harder than it has to be! Her words were shaky, and held little to no strength behind them and she knew as much. But perhaps the intruder didn't know such a thing. Raising her nose to the wind, she caught no immediate scents. Whoever it was, must be hiding their scent somehow! With a scowl - Nema lowered herself into a more aggressive stance, "Alright - the hard way it is!" She growled, though her growl was about as menacing as a cub's purr.

We? Who was this we?
Maswali silently looked on in confusion, unsure whether she was safe enough in her hiding spot to remain hidden. It would seem she was, but that could only be temporary. The female could determine her location at any moment. No - she probably shouldn't stay put. But was it safe to reveal herself? The female had claimed there were of them than what there appeared to be. But if that was the case, where on Earth were they? This was beginning to get interesting.
Maswali nearly snorted herself out of hiding, as the white female posed herself into a very weak protective stance. That wasn't how it was done! She was making a mockery of everything defense stood for! She couldn't stand by and let this poor creature think she was actually effectively keeping someone at bay.
"That won't be necessary...." She purred, lifting herself slowly from the grass and revealing herself to the lioness. Her ears low to her head, and her body standing lack to present herself as peaceful. "I'm not here, to cause trouble ... And from the looks of it, you aren't going to much of a fight.." With a slight giggle, Maswali stepped a few steps closer. "I was merely doing my own thing when your yelling caught my attention. It startled me, and so I ended up in those bushes..."
Obviously it was a complete lie - but telling this strange and unpredictable female that you were spying on her. Might not be the best idea.

Again the female jumped with a start at the new sound. Further proving just how weak she actually was. She immediately adjusted her posture though, trying to cover up the start as though it had never happened.
As she took a better look at her company, she was startled by her coat. It was so shiny, and quite delicate. Any other time, she would quickly compliment such a pelt. But not today, today she was dealing with a stranger a stranger who could be a threat to her at any moment.
"Well, you don't have to be a jerk about it!" She growled, the fur on the back of her neck standing on end. "I'm only trying to defend myself.."
The female's next sentence took poor Nema for a turn and her demeanor showed it. "O-Oh, i'm sorry ... I didn't mean to bother anyone, I was just trying to keep them in order. Nema flicked her head to the side at what was merely an empty space. "You really should have told me you were there, that could have gotten dangerous!"

Maswali merely stared blankly back at the other female, unable to blink, unable to even form a logical comment. This female was definitely a weird one .. "I wasn't being a jerk .. I was merely saying your stance is all wrong. But, I guess I could have worded it better. With a cheesy smile, Maswali pawed at the ground nervously. "I--I'm Maswali by the way!" Extending her paw slightly, she quickly took it back fearful that the female might take it as a sign of aggression.
As she continued to listen, her expression just became more and more confused. Especially when the female flicked her head towards an obviously empty area .. There was no one there, yet this female seemed to think there was ... "But no -" Maswali shook her head and waved a paw in the air. "Nevermind." She hardly had time to get it back before a quick chuckle escaped her lips. It was a strange sound sort of muffled and strangled all at the same time.. "Heh! I don't we would have had to worry much about that!" With a wide grin on her maw Maswali eyed the female.. she wasn't trying to be rude but not everyone always got her sense of humor.

Well, she supposed Maswali had a point there. She was known for getting easily offended these days. Especially since that run in what the nasty male - A shudder ran down Nema's spine and she tried to change the subject quickly. She didn't like thinking about him at all, and since she wasn't dreaming she had a choice. "Nema...." She managed to squeeze out, before she fell back into her thoughts. "I'm Nema.."
Why had she even had to think of him? She had been so good about blocking him out lately! With a groan, she shook herself free which likely made for quite the sight from Maswali's point of view. Lucky for Nema, she hadn't heard the first bit of a comment. But unlucky for Maswali - she had heard the other end.
"WHAT IS WITH YOU AND BEING SO MEAN?! NOT EVERY LION CAN BE GOOD AT EVERYTHING! AT LEAST I'M TRYING!" Nema's voice echoed across the empty space and zoomed right back into her ears causing her to flinch. "IT'S LIONS LIKE YOU THAT GIVE THE ROGUE LANDS A BAD NAME! I HOPE YOU KNOW THAT!" Now fuming with anger and hatred, Nema's eyes welled up with tears. She knew she was being slightly irrational, but she was tired of judgemental lions telling her that she was too different, or not strong enough. She'd had enough, and this lioness, had simply been the straw that broke the camel's back.
"Forget it, you aren't even worth my time. I can't believe I thought you might actually be a decent lion. Guess I learned that lesson ... AGAIN!" Kicking up dust, Nema turned on her heels and headed in the opposite direction, pausing only to yell a few final words that would likely make no sense to the other lioness.
"Come on! You guys had your pit stop, time to move again!" And with those words, she disappeared nearly as quickly as Maswali had appeared.

Maswali merely stood by in silence, her draw dropping more and more with each angered word Nema spat at her. The hell was wrong with this lioness? Had she really never heard a joke before? Or was she really that severely damaged?
Thinking back to the strange outbursts from the beginning of their conversation, she found it quite likely there was something wrong with the lioness. Though she felt depressed at the thought that she'd never know exactly what had been her problem. She had wanted to interject - to apologize to her for her odd sense of humor. But Nema hadn't given her the chance, she'd merely chewed into her hide and hauled tail out of there. Leaving Maswali in the dust to pick up the broken pieces of what exactly had just happened.
As she looked around her, for signs of life she found herself utterly alone. Just as she had been before the loud, brash, and absurd conversation had taken place. And for the millionth time since leaving the Roguelands for the first time, she felt entirely alone.
