Since Seth had come to Camphoreon to retake and oversee his stepfather's former company, he had fallen into a daily ritual of waking up, coffee, work, eating on occasion, and then sleeping. He left himself little time for anything else, burying himself in various projects and administrative duties in order to keep his mind off things. It had always been his best option when trying to keep him from thinking about certain things. Drinking certainly hadn't help, as much as he'd tried, and sulking at the HQ had certainly been counterproductive. Thus he simply just returned to his routine on autopilot, wanting to be away from HQ and the source of his misery.

One would think that getting over a break up would be an easy thing, but not for Seth. No, this had gone far too deep for a quick recovery, and the results had effectively shattered his sense of self worth and was causing his world to crumble around him, like a domino effect. A situation he wasn't sure how to recover from, and since he'd alienated himself from most people, he didn't have anyone to turn to.

They knew him well at the coffee shop by now, and even the baristas had noticed a change in one of their most regular customers. Naturally they didn't say anything about it, and as Seto Kaiba walked into the coffee shop and ordered his usual, they gave it to him and accepted his payment without a word.

He had since gotten over his aversion to caffeinated products, although he still had no desire for Russian tea. Taking his coffee, and grabbing a newspaper, he turned around to move away from the counter while his gaze was fixed on the headlines.

This was not his usual coffee shop, but after an early workout he had felt more in need of caffeine and cake right now than loyalty to his usual haunt. He could have got a coffee at the gym of course, but that desperate he was not; the stuff at the gym tasted like it had been roasted in farts. So it was that with his bag of clothes over his shoulder and his thick gold curls still damp from the shower, Dith entered the unknown.

Pushing open the door and stepping inside the large man glanced around for the menu, noting as he did so that it was rather busy. Ordering himself a Large coffee and a Large piece of chocolate cake Dith scanned the shop again and grabbed a newspaper, heading over to the one empty table he had spotted and -

- bumping into somebody. "Ack! Sorry!" Note to self; when walking, look where you're going, not at the paper. Why had he not learned this lesson by now?

Running on autopilot did have its drawbacks. He knew this coffee shop well enough now that he could find his way to his usual spot blindfolded. However, he hadn't anticipated running into someone today. Plus he should probably also take the same not about looking where he was going and not at a newspaper.

Seth's path was interrupted as he collided with someone else. Someone who was rather.. unyielding and made him stagger just a little bit. And for a split second he thought he might have run into a wall or a pillar, until it apologized.

Irritation flashed across his blue eyes as he lifted them to glare over the paper. Use to looking down, there was now confusion as he saw not a face... but a torso. He then looked up... and stared. What was before him was a man that was actually taller than him. There were no words.

Hello stranger, the Dith circus is pleased to welcome you! Fifty cents an ogle, step right up. Said stranger was rather tall himself, though, which could well explain some of his surprise; not used to anyone being bigger than he was. "Sorry," Dith repeated with an apologetic grin, "are you alright? I was not really looking where I was going."

The man seemed to be some kind of professional, high end by the quality of his suit. In jeans and a slightly faded blue t-shirt, Dith wondered if he was about to get shouted at and called a scruffy oik or something.

Seth frowned as the man continued talking, and while he didn't berate the man like he would have at one point in his life, he did find the stranger's accent a bit... offensive.

"I'm fine," he said and with another pause and looking the man over again, he added, "You're Russian." There was a hint of distaste in his voice, not directed at Dith himself particularly. Just... hearing that accent brought to mind things he was trying not to think about.

Gawping and distaste for his origins; yippie! Dith raised his eyebrows. "Is it the nose? It's the nose, isn't it, I've always been told I have a very Russian nose. I'm afraid I can't place you so easily. Name's Dimitry by the way; are you going to sit at that table, and if so to you object to me sitting there too? Aren't any more free tables, and seen as I've already run into you and introduced myself seems sensible for me to ask to sit here rather than to bother somebody enjoy a peaceful morning without massive Russians bashing into them so far." Why the slight distaste, he wondered? Perhaps he'd find out if he talked to the man, he was willing to admit to himself that he was curious... okay, that he was nosey, but given distaste had been aimed at him he felt he had a tenuous right to try to find out the cause.

Seth had to suppress the urge to roll his eyes at the nose comment. Did this man think he was funny or something? He wasn't laughing. In fact he hadn't genuinely laughed since before... dammit.

"Seto," he said, giving his name back as the other introduced himself. It still felt a bit strange calling himself by his given name. He'd gone by the guise of Seth for far too long. "I'm half Japanese," he continued before motioning his arm towards the table. "Do what you like." He knew he didn't look all that Japanese. His eyes were the most telling in that part of his heritage, but the fact that they were blue tended to throw people off. He would figure it obvious that his other half was Caucasian. Not of any particular one origin. Normally he wouldn't volunteer such information about himself, but lately Seth found himself not caring about such things anymore. Especially considering his circumstances.

With that, the brunette sat himself down in one of the chairs. He was silently glad that his coffee had a lid on it, preventing it from spilling all over him when the two collided. It was then that he finally took a sip of the hot beverage.

Dith grinned and sat down in the second chair, which creaked slightly in protest. "Nice to meet you then Seto," he said, taking an experimental sip of his coffee. It was pretty good actually, a hundred times better than the stuff at the gym.... Something was niggling at him, something about Seto. He didn't know what it was but... humm, probably wasn't important; maybe he'd just seen him around the place. "You a regular here?" he asked, by way of conversation starter and starting to work out if he might have seen him about the city. "It's pretty good coffee." The cake looked good too, but right now the caffeine was the priority; for some reason last night he hadn't been able to get to sleep until it was almost light and despite a reasonable breakfast and a good workout he was still feeling dopier than he usually did at this time in the morning.

Seth just grunted at the pleasantries, his eyes half lidding a bit as he looked back to the newspaper, particularly interested in the business section. He was never very good at conversation, even if he wanted to converse. Talking business was one thing, actually socializing was another. It was especially difficult in his particular state of mind, despite the fact that he was willing to talk more.

"Yeah, it's decent enough," he replied distantly. Dith's accent was still gnawing at him and he was now finding it difficult to concentrate on the newspaper. Thus he just set it aside and took another sip of his coffee. "I take it you aren't."

"Mmh," said Dith, mid way through another sip of coffee. "No, I generally go to one closer to my apartment, but this one is the closest one to the gym and I wanted cake and caffeine sooner rather than later. I might have to start coming here of a morning though, and head to the other place in the afternoon; depends on the cake!" A slightly taciturn man this one, or maybe just not a morning person. Either way, this conversation was going to be hard work. Ah well, what was life without challenges?

"You work locally?" Dith asked after another coffee sip. He assumed that Seto had to, either that or he wasn't planning on being in work early, though by the quality of that suit maybe it was his leisure when he arrived, or maybe he worked odd hours.

Mopey was a bit more like it. Seth hadn't been himself for some time now, and if you knew him, it definitely showed. He did look tired, but not because he wasn't a morning person. No, he was use to getting up early.

At mention of the cake, Seth glanced at the confection that Dith had and stared again. "Is that chocolate?" he asked, seeming to perk up just a little bit. He hadn't noticed that they were carrying chocolate cake today. Well damn.

"I work across the street," he then said, motioning towards the window with a view of the giant building across the way. Large reflective letters reading "Kaiba Corporation" were located above the set of glass doors that led into the skyscraper.

"Extremely chocolate," Dith affirmed with a grin at how the man seemed to perk up at the sight of it. "You want some? I can get another fork, apologise for bashing into you like that, da?" Ahh, Kaiba Corp. Dith looked out at the towering building and sipped his coffee. "Decent place to work, is it?" Most places were a decent place to work if you were high enough up the totem pole, but there were of course exceptions everywhere in life.

There was no response to Dith's offer, for Seth had already left his seat and was now procuring his own chocolate cake. He couldn't help it. A certain Rocket had gotten him hooked and now he had this chocolate fetish. Where had it been all of his life?! Not that Seth had never had chocolate beforehand but... it was just... different now.

Eventually Seth returned to his seat and was now taking a bite of his own cake. Trying not to look like he was enjoying it too much. When in fact he was.

"Depends on your point of view, I suppose," Seth said in regards to working at Kaiba Corp. "It keeps me busy enough."

As Seto got up to get his own delicious treat Dith grinned and tried some of his own. Oh yes, very chocolate. Cake followed by more coffee was even better, and Dith made a soft noise of contentment as he set his cup back down on the saucer. "Well that's a start," he replied with a grin, "better than hating it anyway. A job for life, or just good enough for now until the dream job comes up?" He was prying a bit he supposed but if Seto didn't want to answer he could just refuse to or turn the conversation onto something else; he wasn't just going to sit here in silence for fear of making a stranger feel a bit uncomfortable.

That question caused Seth to pause in the consuming of his cake, and he frowned a bit. He sat there in silence for a few moments before finally answering. "A job for life," sounding as if he'd surrendered to the idea. It was supposed to be his dream job, but somewhere along the way... his priorities had changed. And the source of that had left his life, leaving a gaping hole of discontent.

Hoping to change the topic a bit, he followed with his own question. "What do you do?" Surely the man across from him had his own occupation. Seth took another sip of coffee to wash down that last bite of rich chocolate cake.
