Incoming Thread - Wave 1: 108 THIS OCCURS AFTER THE WING MEET-AND-GREETS This Threadfall is for Benden-Riders Only The Rules The Rules You may only post for ONE character per post. NO DELETING POSTS - You will receive an automatic greylisting for deleting posts. There is plenty of room for danger AND safety in this system, abuse will not be tolerated. Burn Posts are the action posts where one determines how much thread is burned and chance of being scored. Damage Posts are posts made separately from the Burn Posts, should a dragon suffer Threadscore. These must be separate from Burn Posts. Both Burn Posts and Damage Posts count towards the waiting period when a dragon's HP drops to 0. If you are withdrawing your character, please note this in bold in your post at the top. Please keep a tally of your EXP somewhere, be it a journal or otherwise. A separate thread for buying stats will be available. How to build your dragon's stats is described below, along with how to roll for damage and thread burning. Please note Silvers have a slightly different method. Time Riders ONLY: If a dragon participated in (aka posted during the Time Riders Event in Arc 1) the Time Riders' activities, their experience with Threadfall gives them a stat bonus of +5 to HP and +2 to Agility when initially calculating stats.

F'law and Blue Zurith
HP: 45 Agility: +1
F'law felt his gut tighten as he struggled with his fears. Not only would he have to deal with the wide open sky, but that sky would be full of falling Thread. To top that all off, this would be his first true encounter with their deadly foe. He had his jaw clenched so tight he wondered if he'd ever get it open again. Zurith had no troubles opening his mouth demanding firestone.
Automatically he fed the pieces to be chewed. The dragon sending calming thoughts. F'law nodded when he was informed that he was full. They waited for the rest of the wing to launch, then Zurith's wings flared around him. In no time at all they were airborne and headed right for the Thread. He clung fiercely to the straps and held his breath until he saw stars.
Zurith crooned worriedly. Do not do that Mine. We will be fine. I know how to flame and will not drop you. Suiting words to action the dark blue picked his first clump of Thread and toasted it.

Dezima and Green Microth
Agility: +2 HP: 37
----------
She felt a shiver go down her spine that had nothing to do with a jump between. Thread. Thread was falling. And this was to be their first time fighting it. True it was not the first fall of Thread, but they had not been part of the group that ended with so much disaster.
Stay strong, Dezimine. You have me with you. I will not let that silver menace hurt you. They usually soft and sweet tones held a rougher edge to them. The green dragon was ready to fight. Knew her duty. I need firestone, Mine. Microth gently reminded her rider.
With a start, Dezima realized her bonded was right. Shaking herself, she offered her dragon partner the pieces of stone for her to chew, repeating this until Microth informed her that was enough. Dezima clutched her riding straps in a death grip, eyes narrowing slightly. 'I'm ready, Microth!'
With a powerful stroke of her wings, the green dragon launched them forward and dove towards a silver clump. A flame burst forth from deep within her chest as she burned their first clump of Thread. Dezima shared in the exhilaration that her partner felt, lowering herself closer to Microth's back as the green twisted to pump her wings and gain some height. Unfortunately neither dragon or rider saw the silver sheen just above them.
'Microth watch out!'

Dezima and Green Microth
Agility: +2 Damage taken: 4 - 2 = 2 HP: 37 - 2 = 35
----------
Microth banked hard to the side, folding her wings and diving. Searing pain erupted in her hind leg, pulling a screech of mild pain and mostly surprise from the green. Without even thinking twice about it, Microth took them between, appearing some distance lower then where they had originally been.
"Microth!?" Dezima felt her heart lurch with panic. She'd been hit. Her dragon had been hit!
I am alright, Mine. The pain is not so bad now. It merely surprised me. The green dipped a wing, sending them in a slow arch to locate their next target. There was hints of pain coloring the red eyes, but the green felt a renewed determination to defeat their foe!
Do not worry so, Dezimine. Now let us fight more!. With a mental nod from her rider, as well as the tightening of her hold on the riding straps, the two whirled back around ready for another strike.

Falling into position with their wing F'itz passed firestone to his lifemate and shivered. Thread. It had no right to gleam so beautifully.
Eyes orange-red with the light of battle Brumath loosed his first breath of flame at the silver menace.

N'mol and Bronze Tyeth HP: 81 Dmg Mod/Agility: -3 Thread Burned: 8+5=13 (Wingleader bonus) Scored: No Current Thread: 87/108
N'mol felt a moment of anxiety as the alert came that Thread was falling and the wings had to be assembled. He gave the instructions to Tyeth to have everyone gear up and assemble as he did the same. The anxiety simmered in him, but stayed clear of his face as he quickly moved into Tyeth's weyr, strapped on his riding gear, and mounted up.
His wing assembled in the Bowl, as did the other wings, and Tyeth landed before them, both the Bronze and N'mol checking to see who had arrived and who was still on their way. Within a short period of time, their full wing assembled and N'mol nodded to himself and looked to Wi'vren. He nodded at the older rider and gave a signal as Tyeth gave the instructions to take to the air.
I wish we'd had more time for practice, N'mol thought, his only allowance for distraction before between came and went and his single-minded focus went to directing his wing's movements and making sure Tyeth, full of firestone and the desire to flame, stayed on task.
I am focused, N'mol. Come. We must lead our wing. Already Hiath is out of formation. As N'mol tightened his legs to stay seated firmly while Tyeth made a quick little mauever, he heard his Bronze command the Green back into line. Then it was just a blur of Thread, directions, and making sure they didn't mess up their movements either.
N'mol ignored his fears, his nerves. There would be time to consider them later. He swallowed hard as Thread char floated over them. Have we lost anyone?
Tyeth was silent for a moment as he evaded a clump of Thread and directed his flame back at it. Already he knew the names of all 37 dragons of the wing, even as N'mol knew their riders. Korith was badly scored and has returned to Benden. Four dragons, including Microth, were mildly scored, but are still fighting. Lorasth has just been scored. There was a pause. He has returned and is moving back to his place.
It was chaos. Even though he knew most of his wing was doing well, it was clear that staying in formation during Fall was one of the most difficult challenges. N'mol risked looking away from the Thread long enough to peek at the right side of his wing. They're out of formation. Gatarath and T'nic, I think. Get them back. The Green next to them, too. We can't afford any holes.
Tyeth, still flaming and keeping a watchful eye for any rogue bunches of Thread, relayed the message. N'mol glanced back in time to see them moving back and the swift adherence to his orders steadied an uncertainty he hadn't known he was carrying around with him. He checked the left side, thankfully devoid of holes, and then tightened his grip on his riding straps as Tyeth suddenly swerved and let out a bellow of flame at a clump of Thread that had been shifted into their path. The ashes scattered in N'mol's face as he closed his eyes and turned his head away. Better ashes than living Thread.

B'nas and Brown Milnth HP: 60 Dmg Mod/Agility: +2 Thread Burned: 2
B'nas and Milnth were prompt in their arrival in formation. B'nas felt the vibrations coming from Milnth's chewing of the firestone. The pair were prepared for this, he'd seen what happened when the riders returned from the meeting (or .. didn't in a lot of cases) He took a deep breath and waited for the order from his Wingleader. Once that was given he and Milnth soared in their places, he chased down a tangle of Thread but had to cut short his flame as B'nas had spied a clump headed right for them and they'd managed to burn only a little as they moved to try and avoid the clump of Thread.

They were unable to dodge well enough and the Thread scored right across Milnth's neck, Milnth informed Tyeth, winked Between to rid himself of the stuff and winked back almost instantly. His bellow of pain lost amid the other dragons flames and bellows.

N'mol and Bronze Tyeth HP: 81 Dmg Mod/Agility: -3 Thread Burned: 4+5=9 Scored: Yes Current Thread: 76/108
Things went smoothly at first, N'mol and Tyeth dishing out orders as needed to keep their wings in the best formation possible. Another Green was forced back to Benden to be healed, but N'mol shifted several of his riders to cover the hole. It was a looser weave there than he would have liked, but it was better than leaving an opening.
However, even a Wingleader can't avoid fate forever. As N'mol directed Tyeth's attention to a particularly nasty double-clump of tangled, writhing Thread, a sudden shift in the wind brought some of the descending menace in their direction.
Tyeth caught sight of the Thread out of the corner of his eye, not necessarily in time to evade it completely or make it between, but enough that he twisted so it would, hopefully, not do much damage.

N'mol and Bronze Tyeth HP: 71 Dmg Mod/Agility: -3 Thread Burned: N/A Scored: 7+3=10 Current Thread: 76/108
The admirable twist of his form succeeded in diverting the worst of the blow. The first group of Thread merely glanced across Tyeth's left shoulder, but a second clump seared a sharp path down his back left leg. He bellowed as he popped between, treating his rider to the uncomfortable cold and a fair helping of concern. As they reappeared in the warm air over Benden lands, N'mol first scanned the skies for immediate threats and then leaned over to check on Tyeth's wound. Ahead of him, he heard his Bronze emitted more flames, unwilling to let them be scored a second time.
N'mol took a quick look at the wound, then turned ahead again, giving Tyeth a second set of eyes to watch for Thread. He clenched his jaw and tightened his hold on the riding straps. At least his dragon's maneuver had saved N'mol himself from getting scored and the wound didn't seem severe enough to ground them prematurely. He would see to Tyeth's wounds himself when they returned to Benden.
Shake it off, Tyeth.
It will not slow me down. I am no lazy Blue. Tyeth let out an angry burst of flame, toasting the Thread before them. It was rare for Tyeth to openly comment on color prejudice, especially when he was so adamant about N'mol being personable to riders of all ranks, but in the heat of the moment and with his recent pain preying on him, N'mol thought it could be excused. N'mol, confident in Tyeth's attention to the Thread, put his own focus on his wing for a moment, making sure their brief disappearance hadn't caused any lapses in focus from the other Fliers.
Tyeth, check to see who needs firestone.

Dezima and Green Microth
Agility: +2 Damage taken: ~ HP: 35 Current Thread: 74/108
----------
Dezima felt too many different things to determine what her most dominant emotion was. There was still fear that Microth was hiding how badly she had been hit. But the green dragon assured her it was nothing more then a small scratch. Still, Dezima couldn't shake the fact that her lifemate had been hit to begin with. It was like an ice cold bucket of water being dumped over her.
It's alright, love. This is our first time flying against Thread. The last word was hissed out. It's understandable to feel nervous. But remember, I am right here with you.
A smile cracked along her face, one hand moving to pat the green hide beneath her. 'Thanks, Microth.' Taking a breath, she devoted her whole attention to fighting with her dragon. And just in time too. She felt Microth but more power into her strokes as they veered towards a clump of thread. A belch of flame seared it as another clump fell close behind it. The green hissed and angled upward sharply to try and avoid the second clump.

Brumath saw the twist of thread blowing towards him; he might be old but he was not blind. He was however too busy searing a great swathe from the sky to dodge it.
F'tiz closed his eyes and gripped the straps as he felt it start to burn into his dragon's flank. Between!>

Dezima and Green Microth
Agility: +2 Damage taken: 9 - 2 = 7 HP: 35 - 7 = 28
----------
Microth's upward surge got them safely away from the clump falling almost on top of the one they had burned. Dezima cursed under her breath, holding tightly to her dragon partner. She allowed her gaze to dart from one side to the other. 'Microth, hurry and get back in formation- LOOK OUT!'
The green's eyes whirled with panic as she saw too late the Thread that was drifting lazily behind them. But she wasn't quick enough. Even as she roared, twisting as much as her body would allow to avoid it, they were hit. Both of them. She felt the dual pain that registered in her rider's mind as well as the burning along her flank. In a flash, they went between, reappearing higher in the sky.
Dezimine! Are you alright?
'Y-Yes. I'm alright. What about you?' Her shoulder had burned so terribly, but the cold of between soothed it. Now there was a dull ache, but she shoved it out of her mind, worry for her dragon taking the forefront of her mind. 'Let's get in formation again. And update Tyeth that we're alright.'
Tyeth. We have moved back to formation. Mine has suffered a mild threadscore as well as myself. But we can still fight. The green was determined to continue fighting.

It was a painful score, but not too bad, and he had burned away much more than he had taken. Hopping between on his rider's command Brumath wondered again how long they could keep doing this. Soon, however, the warm air of the real world and the tumbling tangling Thread demanded his attention again. How long now, for today and for their lives? Too long, and not long enough.
