I can never narrow it down to just one for 1st gen... Raichu, Vaporeon, Arcanine, Charizard...
As for 2nd gen, I'd have to say either Meganium or Tyranitar. :3

Eevee, Charizard and Feraligatr.
I once made an entire team of nothing but Eevee and it's evolutions. Charizard and Feraligatr have never let me down in a battle.

2nd Gen: Bellossom and Ariados
When I was a little kid I loved Butterfree, Sandshrew/Sandslash, Tentacruel, and Alakazam. I thought Tentacruel were misunderstood, so the episode with Misty and the Tentacruel became one of my favourites.
