It had been weeks, so many he'd lost count. Together they had been on the quest back to his herd lands, where the misfits would set up their home. The stallion was a little surprised he hadn't seen any of his family out to find him, but he was also glad that Darius didn't come...he wasn't sure he was able to handle the large bundle of trouble just yet. It wasn't that he hated his adopted brother...it was just he was so worried, almost to the point it made him sick how deadly the stallion with his lack of mental capacity could actually be if he lost it.
While he didn't worry of his Angeni brethren; his mother would be at such a risk for her size and how she always was around the brute.
However, that was a far thought and memory, looking back as he slowed to a stop to glance at Uhra; once again being lost in his thoughts so much he had walked ahead at a worried pace.
"Uhra...are you keeping up alright? Do you need me to slow down?" Winter was waning, but as they got closer and closer to the northern mountains the slopes of white grew deep once again. He knew it would be a hard climb home, if it wasn't for him knowing the secret pass it would have been impossible for any soul without wings to get to their herd lands. He was eager to bring her home and show her his family after the time they'd spent together...while he hadn't been able to admit just how much he cared for her; his actions hopefully spoke a little more loudly than his mute like attitude on the subject.
Figures, the brooder who always seemed to have an opinion was suddenly silent when it came to love.
Yet they had been together, in both intimate sense and in the way he'd not left her side since that fateful meet; but it wasn't time yet. He plotted slowly in his mind the detailed process he would see out when the time came of that delicate question; but for now he was content to be the subtle affectionate companion...he was sure his family would love her.
"Its only going to get worse from here, I'm afraid..."

She was honestly tired of walking. Uhra was used to traveling around, but this was to the extreme. She was tired, and she had never felt this tired before. Her ears flicked some, before she looked up toward the sky as she walked. She loved being with Adom. It made her happy. The stallion took care of her, and cared for her. Almost as much as she did for him. And as much as she wanted to stay with him, and she would, she needed a rest. By the time she lowered her eyes back toward the moving stallion, he was farther ahead of her, and she had to give a little speed to her step to try and keep up with the male. She wasn't going to let him know that she was tired.
Honestly, she was scared. And though he offered to slow down, the mare smiled and shook her head, her little hooves continuing to follow in his own prints in the snow. She knew what was going on. She could feel the extra weight, the heaviness, and need to eat more. And this cold was almost to the bone. She worried about the little life that lived within her. But she was too scared to tell Adom that she was pregnant. They weren't even... a real coupe? They were, and then weren't. It confused her. She felt like they were, but she was unsure if he did. So, with a small sigh, she made her way up beside him, and lightly nosed his neck, before pulling her head back to look up at him with those gold eyes.
"I'm fine, dear... Don't worry. We will get there. I know it. I trust you, Adom." Uhra said, her voice soft. She smiled at him, the trust easily seen in her eyes, before she continued forward, letting her tail flick slightly behind her, and her ears perked. It wasn't until she was sure that Adom couldn't see her face did she let the look cross her eyes again. That fearful, uncertain look. She didn't mind if he knew, honestly. Her fear was that she would tell him,a dn that would be the reason that Adom wanted to be with her for the rest of their days. Not because he loved her, or because he wanted to. But because he felt he had to, that it was his responsibility. That was what worried the small mare.

Although he could be a real fool in some aspects, Adom was educated and wise for his years; he could see in the way she moved that he was going too fast. While he was a little used to being energetic for long periods of time trying to play catch up with all the large members of his herd; the exuberance of a long haul wasn't everyone's forte. While he didn't know why she was having a hard time he could see it, and felt a little worse for not paying better attention in his excitement to go home. "Uhra...." Adom breathed, his brow knitting from behind his gold and back toned hair. "I do worry..." That was an understatement, as the boy didn't really know how not to worry about every little thing. It was a surprise his hair wasn't grey already.
Trust....he wished he could be as trusting as she was. While he had no thought in his mind about the stance her soul had in the aspect of good versus evil, it took him a while to warm up to anyone and was often too scrutinizing of anyone outside his herd. It was easy to trust in the domain of Cuauhcoatl; his father being able to sense any evil dwelling in the heart of his members. Yet even though he'd brought in Darius at a young age and continued to educate and teach the mutant....Adom worried instinct was what would be dangerous and not the mental capacity as he was sure the slow stallion had not an evil thought in his head. Literally. At the nose gently pressing against his neck he found his expression softening, as she moved on before him to get a head start.
"If it gets too much we'll stop and make camp somewhere on the hillside. There are many outcroppings and caves which can make suitable shelter. Another day to the journey will matter not." Although he so eagerly wanted to see the happiness on his mother's face that she would have another usdia female in the herd...other than he even the foals of the herd were often her size if not a little bigger. Adom would feel a little more at ease being home, where he could spend time with his dear Uhra...while he did feel more than just friendship for the ivory mare, she really was becoming his best friend as well. In short, he was hesitant to go home without her, and was more than elated that she agreed to come in the first place. As he caught up to her once more he waked directly beside her, and when he was unable to feel the radiating warmth that usually had come off her and he alike he took the careful steps to press his side against hers to help share the heat....realizing it must have been nice to have wings to help with such a task. "You feel pretty cold, Uhra. Should we stop to find something?" Although it was still thawing, he was sure there could be some moss around they would fashion into a blanket of sorts to throw over her back and keep her body heat in.

Uhra blinked, her eyes flickering around. Though the snow was starting to slowly dim down, and melt; to slowly allow the dead grass and bark of the trees to be seen against it's white surface, she still thought it beautiful. There had been times were people had told her that she would get lost in the snow, if she ventured too far, but she usually ignored that though. She had her hair, for one thing, and her natural marking, for another, allowing her to be distinguishable. At the sound of her name, Uhra's ears perked up, and then toward her love, eyes flickering and staring toward him. "Hm..? Honestly, Adom... You worry far too much. You're still young, don't make yourself look old now." She said, voice soft, and with a slight teasting tone to the edge of it.
She didn't understand him at times. But Uhra did love him. She knew it in her bones. She would never say it, not right now anyways. She wasn't sure if he felt the same. And honestly, it scared Uhra. She wasn't going to bring it up right now. They needed to get to his home soon, hopefully before nightfall, considering how cold it would be. "Adom, another day will matter. You want to get home, and honestly, I want to as well.. I want to be someplace safe and warm. So I can walk. I can, honestly." She said, giving him another gentle nudge with her nose, and nibbled at his hair, tugging at it gently, before moving forward once more.
A small tremble ran through Uhra's body. She tried to think of something to say, something to tell him. Some way to tell him. But her mind kept going to the fear of being rejected. Right now would be the perfect time. She could still turn around and walk back toward the meadows where she grew up if he rejected her from here. But if she made it all the way to the herdlands.... Shaking the thought from her head, her eyes flicked up and locked on Adom, blinking curiously. Uhra stopped, her tail flicking lightly. She needed to talk to him. It was eating her up inside. "Adom... Can we talk about something, please?" She asked, her voice soft, almost holding a scared hint to her voice.

"At least I will look the age I feel..." He mused, knowing full well it was a tease but Adom often felt the early onset of knowledge and his hunger for it set him apart from other foals. Size helped too, but through wisdom came the feeling one was too old to do anything foal like...and soon enough he was the adult he knew he would become and only age would come from here on in.
As much as he was trying not so sugar coat the situation, they would be safer and warmer in the company of his loved ones. "You're right..." He breathed, looking around for any kind of elusive warmth in the form of a blanket or shelter. Even if it would only be temporary and fleeting with the night slow in its descent. However his eyes did turn and focus on her as they walked, that serious nature shining through as there was no doubt or fooling in his strong vocals. "However if it came to it, I would find a warm place; and on my life keep you safe. You'd have my word as both a stallion and a friend."
Yet why did his heart clench at the mention of friend?
It wasn't like she wasn't, Uhra was his best friend as far as he was concerned and there was no falsity or doubt. However, it was more then that and he knew it; so he moved his head to lip at her neck affectionately to realize she wasn't walking beside him and stopped. Turning around she luckily was only two steps behind, and he raised his brow a little in worry, wondering what on earth she'd need to talk about.
"Of...course. What is it Uhra?" Concern was more than laced in his vocals...had he done something wrong? Why did she sound so scared?

The small mare fiddled a bit, her tail giving a small swish behind her as she tried to think of what she could say to Adom. But she had to tell him something, right? She couldn't just ignore everything and let it go. That was idiotic. Sighing, she stared at the ground, her gold orange eyes locked on blades of grass, staring at them as they peeked over the snow. At least some where showing up. She knew that they would go away though, if the snow decided to come back. Lifting her head slightly, the Usdia locked eyes with Adom, and gave him a gentle, somewhat reassuring smile, wanting to ensure she wasn't going to do anything that would horribly harm him.
If it was just about the love, she could have waited. Uhra didn't mind. But being she knew she was with foal, and she knew that if she didn't say something soon, they could end up in horrible trouble. Flicking an ear, Uhra moved forward slowly, her hooves tapping and scraping the ground as she moved. She shifted a bit, and let her nose lightly nudge under his jaw, before pulling her head back, and stared at him, her eyes curious, and yet highly hopeful, and even more worried. "Do... you love me, Adom?"
It was a simple, and yet complex question. Uhra could have mentioned how she felt about him, but thought that that could perhaps change his answer. So, she didn't, and instead just stared at him, her eyes somewhat wide, heart pounding hard in her chest. Another shiver ran through the small mare's body, be it from fear or the cold, she wasn't sure. She needed to know what was going on in his head, and his heart.

Her reassuring smile did ease his soul a little, despite his now increasing heart rate and he was sure if he could in this weather sweat he probably would have been. While he stared at the female who had slowly began to consume many different senarios began to play through his head, some feasible and some well...downright horrendous.
'I'm leaving, goodbye' Would probably be the scariest three words he could possibly hear in his lifetime.
Yet when she approached, tried to soften him up with that gentle touch and the waft of her calming scent and shifted a tad, he was blindsided by another, even more scarier three words.
Three words he knew he too would have to repeat....if he felt it.
As his eyes widened he felt his stance sway ever so lightly, only so to rebrace his back foot in the snow and lean away from her only for balance sake. It was clear by the frantic expression across his face he was struggling for words, resolution, truth. Not necessarily in that order either. As he looked to the mare in question and that gentle shake which wracked her body he felt his heart breaking, but not in the way one would imagine. Looking away he felt his tense shoulders drop as a sigh exhaled from his frame; his expression worried as always as the snow to his left became very entrancing to look at.
"I....I didn't want it to be this way." He confessed, his ears slipping back against his skull. "I'm not good at this emotional stuff, other than worrying and suspicion, I didn't know I was coming off with alternate intentions." He flicked his tail, before looking Uhra square in the eyes as the conflicted emotions ran havoc across his face. "I wanted to ask you, formally, to be mine. I didn't have a right time in mind, but mother always said I'd know it when it came in my heart. You're my friend, Uhra....my best friend. However, I wouldn't have done the things..." Adom felt his cheeks flush, a red to match his heart mark "...the things we did if I didn't love you, I'm not that kind of stallion!" His voice elevated, cracking slightly as he let the emotions get the best of him.
"So...please, don't doubt I don't....I only wanted to go about this the proper way; its what females like right?"

Urha felt like she was waiting on the edge of the world. Like whatever he said, could bring her to new heights, or destroy her. Sighing gently, she lowered her eyes, and waited quietly. She felt a tremble run through her muscles, and lowered her eyes to the point that she was unsure what to honestly do. Gulping lightly, she slowly shifted, from on foot, to another, before letting her eyes lower once more to the ground, not sure what it was she was going to do, or say.
On one hand, Adom could say he did love her. That everything he had ever done, everything he ever would do, would be with him for the rest of their lives. On the other, he could say that it was just a move of passion, nothing more. And if that was the case... her pregnancy... How would she react? She couldn't let them be raised poorly, but she still couldn't allow Adom to feel like he had an obligation to love her, if he did in fact say no.
At his first statement, her ears pinned. Uhra had to turn her eyes away, had to try and recover. He didn't want this to happen... Shaking her head some, she tried to push back the stinging in her eyes, though it was getting harder to do so. She wanted to shift away, to start to back up, but instead, she stood still, and let one of her ears flick up to face toward Adom, wanting to ensure she heard everything. When he said he wanted to ask her to be his, Uhra's heart leaped into her throat. She stared over toward him, watching him with big eyes. She kind of flinched back, when he seemed irritated, before staring back toward him.
Moving forward slowly, Uhra stared up at him. She shifted a bit, before letting her nose lightly press against the under part of his jaw and neck, eyes fluttering, before closing. She breathed in his smell, and tried to calm her heart, before closing her eyes tighter. She could feel her body shuddering, her mind going in every which way. "I love you too, Adom... And you could tell me however you like."

If it wasn't for the fact he was focusing so hard to keep his body still and strong against the weight of these feeling, he probably would have had a mild stroke and faint the way his heart was absolutely pounding. While his family often told him there were some things you could not organize and plan in life, he thought he could and prove them wrong. Yet as he could see before him as his mother so wisely fortold...you could not plan love. You could not plan others, and he was starting to feel the fool that he did not come out and just tell her when he began to realize it himself instead of ever risking this doubt in her mind.
Yet impulse wasn't his strong suit, and he felt horribly exposed without some kind of plan. It wouldn't have sounded like him if he'd just came out and confessed.
With her head resting under his he moved his own to wrap his neck around hers to draw her close into him, breathing a sigh against her mane. "I do love you, Uhra, and i'll tell you any way you like. I'll show you, every single day....so you'd never doubt..and never forget that I do, and always will." His voice was quiet, to not draw attention towards his cherry red cheeks. Rubbing his cheek against her hair, he attempted to try and warm her up. "I'm sorry I didn't make that clear sooner.."
In honesty, he couldn't wait till they would be settled back in the herd lands, and that he could take the time not to worry about basic things like safety and where they would stay out here in the wild and begin to show her just how he felt.
He was sure, it would be clear sailing from here on in.

Uhra smiled, her heart pounding gently at her chest. She was happy. He said it back, and she knew that they would be together forever. There was nothing against it, nothing to fight her for him. She was his, and he was hers. Letting out a soft, gentle sigh of contentment, she lifted her head, and let her nose nuzzle at him as best as he could. The mare let out a soft nicker of pleasure, before pulling her head back, and took a small step back, staring up at him with those soft eyes.
Moving away from him, Uhra smiled. She kissed his cheek, and then his jaw, before lightly pulling at his hair with her lips. She was happy. The mini moved forward slowly, starting up the path again. Usually when couples said such things, they would go and spend time together, but they were too far away, too much in the cold. They needed to get into the herd lands.
But she was curious. Should she tell Adom about her pregnancy?
There was no harm in it now. Stopping, she looked back toward Adom. It would make him worry. She knew it would, but she had to do it. Taking a deep breath, Uhra's tail flicked. She smiled toward him, eyes softening, before shifting somewhat to turn a bit more toward him. "Adom... There is... one more thing.." She said, her voice soft, before she shifted some and turned the rest of the way toward him, her smile shifting, a little wider, before calming down to a somewhat more gentle look. "I... believe I'm pregnant.." She whispered.

At the affection shown to him Adom felt both elated and horrified, the ease in his heart made the trip thus far feel as if he was walking on clouds. His mind though was beside itself that things had not followed his well thought out plan. He'd not imagined himself falling for someone so hard and so quickly but it came as easy as breathing with Uhra. He hoped she would like living in the herd lands, although the family was large and silly at times and a far stretch from normal herds with the presence of odd couples and of course an Angeni...there were no group of souls more loving and eager for a community all their own. He couldn't imagine anyone not liking her, and only felt nervous if some liked her too much; Darius in particular.
Smiling so warmly as she began to walk again he shook his mane when she'd nipped at it, letting out a bemused snort as he began to walk beside her; still keeping mind of anything else which may linger in the rest of the woods.
Just as they began to move again, he looked up to see she had stopped and tilted his head curiously. What was it now? A small part of him wondered if they would ever get there at this rate but if she had something to say then he would listen.
However, in a split moment he wished he hadn't.
With eyes going wide and jaw slacking slightly, that single word kept repeating in his head as he felt logic and mental abilities began to shut down on him. He realized in a fleeting sense there was always risk of it when they were together...but he didn't process about what would happen when it did. So much for any of his plans.
"P....pr.....eg...." He stammered, it was clean on his face his mind was in a critical error mode, his eyes never leaving her as he noticed the slight weight, the inability to keep up, the sudden confirmation of their status. Realizing how he must have been acting he quickly tried to put a smile on, not that he regretted it or was afraid, but it felt as soon as one worry left....about one hundred more just crashed down on his shoulders all at once and it was more than a little overwhelming.
"W-well...I s-s-see....H-how long? Is....is it one?" He questioned, slowly, the awe of it was creeping on his face.

Uhra stared toward him, her eyes critical. She knew that on one hand, he could easily get scared, could run. And on the other, he could be over joyed like no stallion ever could be. And honestly, she was terrified. Terrified that he would run, that he would be scared of what was to come. After all, they had only just confessed their love for each other. No one could fully know what it was that would eventually creep its way into their lives. Thankfully it was this and not some skinwalker who was ready to do some killing. But, she still fretted.
Shifting her weight from one hoof to the other, she saw his face. Heard his stammer. Fear etched its way into her mind, and she took a half step back, her ears pinning. She stared, very quietly, down at the ground near her hooves. The snow was parted ever so slightly from her stepping within it. She felt the need to kick he snow, but refrained, and instead, perked an ear up when he questioned her on more things. Honestly, she couldn't answer them. She wasn't for certain on herself. But she could do guesses... right?
"I... I don't know... I think I have known for a few weeks... but I wasn't fully certain until a couple nights ago. As for how many... two... I think. Though there could be... I... I don't know." She shook her head, blue mane shifting in front of her face, and could feel her eyes stinging. Hormonal, right? She was feeling it etch it's way into her body even now.

It took several moments for the entire thing to sink in, and it had some way to go till his logic could tell him one bit of advice and one alone.
Let it go...
Adom knew there was nothing he could do now, there wasn't anything he wanted to do about the situation in all honesty. The reality of foals and a family were on his plate, and he wasn't going to leave Uhra. Such a thought disgusted him a hundred times more than anything else...it may have been associated with the betrayal of Kayla with his own parents foals. Not that he was supposed to lay blame out of something done from love, but it was a little too hard in his mind since it caused his parents and sisters pain.
He didn't want to inflict pain on anyone.
Stepping forth with determination in his eyes he approached her till they were but a breath away, before closing the gap and nuzzling his head against her neck. Breathing deep to calm his nerves he pushed down the worries he had deep down, since he realized he was doing nothing but worrying her in the process.
"Well, then I guess I have even bigger news to tell my parents when we arrive." Adom spoke softly, giving a gentle n** to her shoulder. "Please don't let my mother jump you in your condition...I can imagine she wont be able to contain her excitement..." Looking down at her he offered a very gentle and warm smile, trying to assure her everything would be okay.
Even if he felt he'd had a stroke at his young age...he'd live. Especially now that he had more than just them to worry about now!

He wasn't reacting, and it was scaring her; scaring her more than the knowledge that she had other lives inside her. Taking a deep breath, she scuffed her foot against the partially frozen earth, before flicking her ears back. Taking a deep, slow breath, the mare lifted her eyes to stare toward the stallion. She tried to keep her heart from racing, tried to keep her mind from going blank. Shifting a bit, she took a half step back, terrified that he was going to reject her.
But when instead, he moved toward her, and had a look about him, Uhra felt relieved. She let her eyes flicker, before locking on him. Her heart calmed, and her mind seemed to go into a semi blank state; a warm, comfy state that helped her to relax. She smiled gently, before pressing her nose lightly against his neck, and closed her eyes. It took all she could not to cry; and not from sadness. But from joy that he was accepting her, and their children. Joy that he wasn't going ot leave, and instead was being strong. That he was strong. For her.
For them.
Nodding her head lightly, the mare turned back toward the destination that they were heading, her eyes locked up at the path ahead. "Then... we should continue... right? We should go and get to safety... I know you said I should rest, Adom, but I would rather rest in safety than rest in the cold." She said, her voice soft. She shifted lightly, and let her nose brush against his in a small, soft movement, before turning her body carefully and started slowly forward once more, her blue tail giving a slight flick as she moved. She wanted to be safe and warm, and his herd was the best place for that.

Feeling her relax against him, he too felt a strange and horrifying satisfaction that he could bring out the peace in her like she had done so many times for him. Adom had never wanted to worry her like he had, but unfortunately he worried many people with his attitude and often worrying extreme of his own - it was just too hard to relax.
Yet with Uhra, he found he had the strength to let things go as he never had prior in his life. She was amazing.
Leaning back as she turned, he too looked up the incline to the secret passage where his herd lands were. It was still a while off, but he knew they should make it if they kept their pacing...with consideration of Uhra's condition. Frowning slightly as he could see both the reason of her eagerness and his worries, he let out a bit of a sigh and a nod to boot. "Fine...but if you get any pains we stop. I'll stand watch all night if I have to to make sure we...." He paused. "....we all get there." One glance to her stomach as she began to walk, and he too picked up his hooves to move through the snow.
Trailing at her side and keeping himself alert for anything, he found the silence for once a little...uncomfortable. Which usually wasn't the case but the new information had him well on his hooves about everything he could remember about childcare from his herd mates. "S....so...." Adom swallowed - hard. "Have...you thought of any names?"
It might have not been a good effort to show his support, but hell, he was trying to as one could say 'get into fatherhood' the best he could.
