Aloha biggrin ,
For those of you who think that white Americans are against him because he's black, you need to be a little more object. In fact, Obama enjoys a very high flikeablity among white voters. Here's the facts from the Washington Times/Quinnipiac University national poll :

-Eighty-one percent of voters think the president is likable, compared to 63 percent for Mr. Romney
-President Obama holds a 46 percent to 42 percent lead over former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney
-Voters disapprove of Mr. Obama's handling on the economy by 56 percent to 38 percent.

The facts are Obama is holding onto a league because people like him so much. Even though Obama has done a poor job on the economy (at least in the general public view), he enjoys a positive place among voters.

Here's the truth, Obama is a poor president. We all know it weither you can admit it or not. Because you have no substance to defend his record on, you make outragious claims of racism and sexism against him. The polling data shows clearly that race and gender has nothing to do with opposition against Obama. It's about failed performance. The truth is that blacks support Obama because his is black. If Obama were white, they'd feel empowered to speak out against his failed performance. However, because he is black, there is an unwillingness to speak against him. That is the worst sort of bigotry. He fails or does well, his race and gender really have nothing to do with it. He is very likeable. Again, his race and gender have nothing to do with it.

Cheers

I'm glad to see such an intelligent mind in the guild.

This is exactly what my thoughts are. Romney isn't as likable, but he's more experienced and better-suited. Obama needs to convince people that he simply knows what he's doing. Romney on the other hand, needs to show he can relate to people and be more likable.

I agree. Though I think he has done poorly with the economy. I'm not so sure he'll be re-elected, but what do I know?

Nah, he would never end up a dictator. We all know our country's political system wouldn't allow that.

Right now I think the election is too close to call. A lot can happen between now and November.

He may ACT like a dictator, but a dictator is someone who retains power through unconventional means (usually military) and he's certainly not in control of the military, and even if re-elected it would be his last term, no matter what.

Here's one fact that worries me though...

Using executive power at all is a shady thing indeed and should be used only in the most dire of circumstances. If it's not absolutely necessary, it should not be used. The point of a government like ours is that the president is kept in check by congress and the supreme court.

That being said, only 3 presidents ever used executive power: Richard Nixon, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama.

Richard Nixon used it 6 times (though Nixon was a very shady president to begin with)

George W. Bush also used it 6 times, and that's still shady, though it was over the span of all 8 years of his presidency.

The main worry is that Barack Obama has used it 14 times, and his first term isn't even up yet. He's used it more than Nixon and Bush combined, in only 3-and-a-half years.

That's what made my definite decision to vote for Romney. If re-elected, I'm afraid what Obama will do without heed to congress. No man should have that much power.
