Scrolls began to appear in libraries all over Faetasia, carefully placed by Morticia. It was time to test them, and not only in knowledge.

Information on the Cappadocian Clan.
PostPosted: Wed Apr 18, 2012 7:52 pm

The crypts and cemeteries of the Cappadocians have been empty as of late. Morticia is opening the doors to allow a few scholars in, to collaborate and work together on their studies of life and death. The research from before must be dusted off and continued once more. Her tests are not for the weak of heart, stomach, or mind.

What exactly do I do here and what is going to happen?

Its simple enough, you post the information required for recruitment, it gets looked over and your mortal Fae or Clanless Vampire will move onto the face to face portion (second stage) of recruitment, if there are a lot that make it through the second stage there will be a third stage. To which they may or may not be picked to join the clan.

I am looking for ACTIVE roleplayers only. If you are only looking to get your mortal Fae embraced so that they can have vampire babies up the wazoo then this is NOT for you. I want the Cappadocian Clan to flourish and the only way it will flourish is if it's members are active. If you join and become inactive I do have the power to kick your Vampire out of the clan pending explanation of lack of activity.

Mortal Fae: Mortal Fae who pass the final stage can get appearance upgrades. If the mortal Fae that you enter already HAS a bunch of edits you'll mostly likely only get fangs added.

Clanless Vampires: Vamps that enter that are barely edited at all (like minor accessories) could be given an upgrade/addition of edits.

Only 3-5 applicants will be chosen. Though you may enter more than one Faekat, only ONE of your Faekats can be chosen.

There will also be a raffle for this girl after the recruitment is over.

Stage Two: The Interview
A door opens behind one of the many bookcases, a soft cloud of dust floats out as Morticia walks in. She smiled slightly as she looked at all the applications, only one stood out that didn't fit with the rest. She looked up and smiled at the applicants that fit her bill. Dominica was the only one she did not motion to when pointing each applicant to their respective rooms for interviewing. After the others had left she turned to Dominica again. "I'm sincerely sorry for not being able to add you as a member of this program. I encourage you to come back at a later date when there are more openings." Behind the sweet facade she had, there was an odd twitch of hatred because of the horns on the fae's head. She showed her out quickly before turning towards the interview rooms.

Applicant's Name: Blasta
Race: Regular
Personality: Cheerful, Smart with a strong will to learn more no matter how bad it is. (I have heard many complain of me having my nose in a book and writing for research papers or documentation.)
Interests: Books and scrolls. Loves to learn new things in general.

How well would you say you have been educated? I have been very well educated. When I was a kid I had many tutors who taught me the values, joy and love of learning new things. That all knowledge is valuable. I had been a professor for a few years teaching the younger minds on the importance of vast subjects such as History, Math and Languages. That was fun work yet I felt a lacking in my life. I often found myself reading in my spare time wishing to know more, learn more. It became apparent to me that I was better suited to become a scholar to research the mysteries of the past. There is much that is not explained or that is simply hidden.

Do you work well in groups? I can work well in groups or alone. I believe that even the smallest role can affect the whole. Say for an example a book that was not taken good care of and became rotted. A Lot of the information is now lost to people. It could have been really important like a doctors journal or a family line traced through the ages and was only record. If someone had been there to take care of this book it would still have its continence.

Do you ponder the mysteries of life and death? Sometimes I have wondered. There is a lot of different views on what happens after death. I personally just like to learn the different views. As for my own personal thoughts of life and death. We are here for a reason. We all have our roles to play in life and even in death.

Do you wish to expand on what you have learned in your life and continue learning? Yes I do. There is always more to find, more to learn and embrace. I could have several lifetimes and still not have learned everything nor would I get board of learning. There is so much out there I would wish to learn if only have the opportunity. I realized that I alone cannot research some things because I do not have access. I thought maybe you might.

Can you handle the smell of old books which may have decayed over the years? Yes I can. I have in recent times found myself restoring an old tomb that had fallen to age. If you give it a little love and care it will be good as new. Tenderness and love is all it takes.

Are you Claustrophobic? No I am not claustrophobic.

Optional: Do you consider yourself religious? I tend to keep a very open mind on religion. There are a lot of different views that are interesting to learn and explore.

Note: Be forewarned that education is of utmost importance to the Cappadocian restoration program. There is little or no tolerance for ignorance and refusal to handle things with care. The books and scrolls we deal with have no room for error when it comes to handling and restoring them. Due to the state which most books are in, this is not for the weak of stomach.

"What's this?" Mitchell pulled the poster from the door to his library and read it carefully. Slowly, his eyes lit up and he grinned. "Well well, these people sound like my kind of people. If Lasombra doesn't want my talents, perhaps these-" He looks for the name and frowns. "Huh, no name. No matter, hopefully they'll have use for someone of my talents."

Applicant's Name: Mitchell Channis
Race: Regular
Personality: Outside the library, quiet and retiring, prefers to stay out of sight. In the library, won't hesitate to take charge, and get done what needs to be done. Can become very 'irritable' if interrupted during delicate work.
Interests: Knowledge, scrolls, knowledge, records, books, esoteric knowledge, history... did he mention knowledge?

How well would you say you have been educated? I'm mostly self-taught, to be honest. I grew up a librarian's assistant, and took over once he passed. When not maintaining the library or the town record halls, I prefer to spend my time reading and furthering my own education. History and the sciences are my specialties, along with philosophy.

Do you work well in groups? As long as everyone is willing to pitch in and do their part, yes. I admit to having a low tolerance for slackers and those who simply coast on other people's work.

Do you ponder the mysteries of life and death? Often. My biggest wonder is this, is there anything after death? I would have to say that's probably also my biggest fear, that after death there is nothing. If that were the case, when what's the point of life? Well... besides enjoying life, that is.

Do you wish to expand on what you have learned in your life and continue learning? Of course! That is my enjoyment in life, learning as much as possible about the world around us, especially the world around us we don't even know about.

Can you handle the smell of old books which may have decayed over the years? Not my favorite smell, admittedly, but it doesn't bother me. The librarian before me did a lot of restoration, so I'm used to it.

Are you Claustrophobic? No, else I'd be in trouble considering my library.

Optional: Do you consider yourself religious? I would say more spiritual than religious, to be honest. However, I'm always open to learning more and incorporating it into my beliefs.

Note: Be forewarned that education is of utmost importance to the Cappadocian restoration program. There is little or no tolerance for ignorance and refusal to handle things with care. Applicant's Name: Dominica
Race: Baddie
Personality: A bit crude and annoying. She enjoys hording and "Collecting" as she prefers to call it. She only hords items of worth or value. She also doesnt mind getting her paws dirty.
Interests: Searching for treasures, Reading, Collecting books and scrolls, and expanding her knowledge of ancient items.

How well would you say you have been educated?
" My mother has done her best to teach me of the basics of life. Most of what I have learned about ancient times is from the old books I have scavanged from random sources. I am very good at naming dates and orgination of items. "

Do you work well in groups?
" I tend to be mostly along, but see no problem in working with groups as long as it is all done right. I do not approve of slackers or people who only want to look good with out putting in any real effort. As long as everyone has a job and does that job I should be okay"

Do you ponder the mysteries of life and death?
" Most of what I read evolves aroung those already dead or dieing. Death has always intrigued me due to the fact that you never know what that person left with. Hidden treasures, trinkets, or secrets hidden where others could never find. Life is alway fasinating because even books can not capture what that persons life was truly about. Like I said earlier secerts can be hidden while alive just as well as when there dead."

Do you wish to expand on what you have learned in your life and continue learning?
" Yes to expand my knowledge would be very much rewarding. To me knowledge is a valued item that can not be given a price."

Can you handle the smell of old books which may have decayed over the years?
" Hahaha... Sorry the smell of old items have never bothered me. I have a few myself and the old smell just insures the age."
Are you Claustrophobic?
" Nope not at all.:

Optional: Do you consider yourself religious?
" My mother taught me the ways of the gods that live among the stars but I have never been overly religous. I find most religions to be fasinatings but have never chosen one I guess would be the way to put it. I have belifs but they are more of a bunch of religions put together. Most of mine are based on facts."

Applicant's Name: Louhi Deathstalker
Race: Asarlai
Personality: I am prone to being quiet and unobtrusive, watching and learning, be it from observation or from books old or new. Knowledge is power, and I intend to have as much as possible. Those who do not interfere with me will generally be left alone, unless there is something I need of them. Those who cross me, however, should beware.
Interests: I am fascinated by death, especially because faes under normal circumstances so rarely die. I also have some interest in the occult, and collect objects said to have occult powers or significance.

How well would you say you have been educated? I have extensive training in black magic, and the skills that accompany it, such as ability to write and read (including knowledge of several archaic languages), as well as to handle delicate or hazardous materials with care, and I have a reasonable knowledge of history. I have less background in scientific pursuits, but can learn quickly if such knowledge is necessary.

Do you work well in groups? I prefer to work on my own, but have no objection to that work becoming part of a larger whole. Knowing that my skills and research work towards some greater goal is... an intriguing concept. While not one that I am experienced with currently, I do find the idea enticing, especially that with the help of others my own understanding can be broadened that much more.

Do you ponder the mysteries of life and death? I am fascinated by the concept of death, and the rare opportunities to experiment with it or watch it occur simply lend it all the more intrigue. What could come after Faetasia? Why would a fae choose to leave our world, or what could force one to do so against her will?

Do you wish to expand on what you have learned in your life and continue learning? Knowledge is power, all knowledge can be used to further goals. In particular, though, my own research has thus far lacked focus, and I would be excited to work with a group that has that sort of drive and a specific goal in mind.

Can you handle the smell of old books which may have decayed over the years? I already periodically find myself digging through musty tomes for recipes or spells that have been lost to time, and have never had a problem with it in the past. I doubt any books that I am asked to look through will cause me such discomfort.

Are you Claustrophobic? No, I've never had any such problem.

Optional: Do you consider yourself religious? I am a loyal follower of the God of Death, and do spend time and energy occasionally in showing him proper deference. I am not so fool as to try to attract his attention, however. Otherwise, I do little directly relating to the gods of Faetasia.

Note: Be forewarned that education is of utmost importance to the Cappadocian restoration program. There is little or no tolerance for ignorance and refusal to handle things with care. Applicant's Name: Layla
Race: Valkyrie
Personality: Silent, secretive, and perhaps a bit deceitful. The odds are ever in my favor, no matter what they were before.
Interests: Stealth research, general knowledge, and the unknown in all its forms.

How well would you say you have been educated? As well as any of my kind. We learn in the temples, and there is no dearth of education, but a warrir such as myself often finds herself encountering far too many annoyances if she attempts to study.

Do you work well in groups? Yes. A Valkyrie warrior is nothing if she cannot work with her squad.

Do you ponder the mysteries of life and death? Yes. Death is such a foreboding mystery, and as a warrior, I face the possibility more often than I would like to...naturally, I find myself contemplating it at times.

Do you wish to expand on what you have learned in your life and continue learning? Always and forever. I am no scholar, but the pursuit of knowledge has always been a favored hobby of mine.

Can you handle the smell of old books which may have decayed over the years? Absolutely. Can't possibly be worse than a decaying body...or a man's BO. Eugh.

Are you Claustrophobic? No, not at all.

Optional: Do you consider yourself religious? I pay my respects to Sinthya, but I'm not as fervent as some of my sisters.

Morticia sat quietly in front of each fae, there really was no plan for an interview other than to observe their reactions. "I would like to welcome you to the interview. I would like you to tell me your ambitions and what you can offer, skill-wise, for the program? I would also like to know about your feelings towards family or friends. Due to the delicate nature of the books and scrolls, there is a very small window for members of the program to actually leave their posts. Also anything else you would like me to know." She smiled once more and prepared to listen and dissect everything that would be said and done tonight.

Mitchell tapped his fingers against his thigh as he waited to hear the results of his application. He'd tried deciphering a scroll earlier, but the anticipation of possibly meeting with the head of this group kept him too preoccupied. The kat jumped slightly when he heard his name called, and he jumped to his feet. Taking a deep breath, he walked into the office.

His eyes immediately fell upon the woman sitting behind the desk in front of him. What was her name again? Ah, right, Morticia. Mitchell thought about that as he walked forward. Fascinating name, he thought, definitely associated with death, perhaps a bastardization of the word mortician? Regardless, she radiated a calm, almost unearthly power that had the records keeper wanting to bow in humble submission.

He took a deep breath as she spoke. "Thank, ma'am. I appreciate this opportunity to apply for membership with your group." He cleared his throat as he sat down in the chair she motioned to. "My ambitions? I'll be honest, my ambitions are simple. I'm tired of working in a small town library and records hall, I want to expand my knowledge as much as possible. There are gods' know how many scrolls and books out there in the world, and I want to read as many of them as possible before this life is over. And many of those records are kept in horrid conditions, which is a travesty." He leaned forward, his voice becoming more animated as he spoke. "I've had the chance to restore a few books in my life, unfortunately, most books brought to me are so badly damaged there's simply no saving them without years, possibly decades, of work, which is heart-breaking. What history, what science and knowledge, has been lost because people don't care enough to take care of a book or scroll?

Mitchell leaned back, taking a deep breath. Before he could continue, she asked her next question, which had him blinking in surprise at the change in subject. "Family? Uh, I have no family, to be honest, and only a few friends in town." He shrugged. "They already know I'm trying to move on, and they've wished me luck, since they're trying to get out also."

He smiled. "Yes, ma'am. I'm aware of their delicate nature, and to be honest, I enjoy it. I wish I had more time to work on restoration, unfortunately, my town duties limit how much time I can spend on such, thus only having restored three books in the last several years. I would welcome the chance to be able to ply my skills and patience on restoring the books here."

Mitchell stood up, and was surprised at the tension he felt between his shoulders. "I appreciate your willingness to give me a chance, ma'am. I'm aware there's others candidates besides me, but I feel confident that my skills put me at least on par with them. In fact, I look forward to working with you, and them, in the future." Without thinking, he gave a slight bow before turning around and walking out the door.

When she received a gesture pointing her towards one of the rooms, Louhi rose and sauntered over, as if there had never been any doubt. She was sitting legs crossed, one claw tapping out a quiet rhythm, when Morticia entered the room. She stopped, swapping for a self-confident smile as she nodded to her interviewer.

She listened patiently as she was given the list of questions to answer, waiting to be sure the other fae was done before replying. "Knowledge grants power, and as Death is one of the strongest deities, knowledge of his domain must entail the great power. Understanding the mysteries of this life and the next... could even a fae who lives forever truly comprehend them? But I would like to try. Research, learning, and then once the scholars of the past have been exhausted, ones own experiences, are the way.

"And as far as skills, I have found it necessary to learn several archaic languages for my own past research, and would be capable of translating into the modern fae tongue. I can also read even cramped or messy handwriting, and have experience handling fragile books, so old they must be touched with care. I also have knowledge of potions and alchemy, and magic, although I do not know if any of those will come in useful in our studies."

She tossed her long hair behind her shoulder with a half-shrug. "As far as family and friends, I don't suppose I really have any to worry about. My mother did not particularly like it when I started to show her up both in beauty and magic," a quick flash of a feral grin, "and I never even knew my father. And as I mentioned on the application, as much as I am intrigued by the idea of being part of a greater project, I do tend to prefer to spend most of my time on my own, without distractions." In truth, she had only had a few other faes she ever particularly associated with, and most of them, if they had not stabbed her in the back, it was only because she used them up and dumped them before they could.

She paused, considering if there was any more to add. "When I devote myself to a new project, it has my complete attention, and I will focus on it to its conclusion." Again there was a grin, but this one stayed on her face as she concluded, "And this project that your flyers spoke of, it intrigues me greatly. I am excited to learn more of it, if you would be willing to share?"

Layla considered each question individually, weighing her answers carefully before speaking. This was critical. This was her ticket off the mountain, where she had never been more than a failure.

"Once upon a time, my ambition was to please my goddess and to be the best at smacking things with a sword. Not particularly high-level. And then I found the library in the temple. I was amazed. I...I want to learn, to understand, to be better, smarter, more learned than my oh-so-provincial Valkyrie sisters." She shrugged. "I want my life to revolve around more than the temple and the next battle and oh goodness which little weakling slave boy is putting out the strongest girls this season?"

"As for what I can offer, I am thoroughly good at deciphering older texts. Mostly self-taught; the priestesses don't always welcome questions from a warrior trainee about their studies. But I learned. I am also good at handling delicate books." She had gotten that way by trying to hide her studies from the priestesses. Never a page out of place, never even the slightest hint she'd been there other than disturbed dust.

"I am fairly close to my parents, and have a healthy rivalry with my full sister. I have a few half-sisters, and I get along with them well enough. When I have to. Ixchel and Itzpapalotl are mad and as useless as their fool mother, though the others are alright." She shrugged. "I will be missed at home, I suppose, but I would rather have this opportunity than not."

She considered the rest. "I...do not know that there is anything else to say. I've taken no males on the mountain, and left behind no get, which I suppose makes me a bit of a failure in the eyes of most of my Valkyrie sisters. Never managed to make much of a name for myself. I was considered honorless and sneakish. Not particularly popular."

What else was there to say? nothing came to her, so Layla simply waited in silence.

Blasta was sitting down calmly waiting for the results of the application. While she waited she thought of all the various scrolls and books she has yet to finish reading. There was one precious book that even needed new binding because it had been used so much. She smiles at her thoughts before a brief announcement was made telling of who was to be interviewed.

Her name was called with three others. This was a great opportunity and she was glad she had been chosen for this chance. She waited for her turn to be called. She had been thinking of why she was here. Surely they would like to know about her and what she could do for them.

Once Blasta entered she bowed with respect and politeness before taking her place. "Thank you for taking this time to interview me. Its an honor." She thinks before continuing. "My ambitions are to fix the written word as well as learning the mysteries and truth in this world. Many things are lost to us because scrolls and books have been damaged, neglected or just tossed as unimportant. Then there are the others that has been translated wrong so gives the wrong story."

Blasta makes sure when talking that her eyes are focused on the lady at all times though she was slightly surprised at there only being one person to interview her and the three others. "The skills I have that would be useful to this job are, Able to translate different languages, bind and mend damaged books. Able to handle sitting for long periods of time even in small places. I am also good with working alone as well as with others. I am respectful and have an open mind."

"Hmmm family and friends. Well my family where always away. I have very few memories. My friends are pretty much books. If I where to have friends or family I would treasure them just as well as I put into the love and care of scrolls and books. They are after all important."
