This is a breeding opportunity that will be run as a contest raffle; 24 hours from the time of this post I'll narrow down to my top entries, and then raffle among them to decide which three breedings I'll end up doing. Each breeding will be growing, with exactly two offspring. These will 99.9% be unedited.

The concept is that you submit one kimeti for a breeding, and I invent the other parent. They're called "Magic Mushroom" because of the first time this event happened, but your entry does not have to, nor should it, contain magic mushrooms.

This time, what happens is up to you to write. The only restriction is that the other kin involved must not be an actual kin from the shop, nor can you describe their physical appearance in any way.

Did your Kimeti get visited by the kin of their dreams? Did your Acha meet up with a childhood sweetheart just in from the plains? Did your Kiokote get visited as they stood sheltered beneath the branches of a dead willow? Explain for a shot to win!

Your Story: Apparently Moorglow had been hanging around Berrybramble for way, waaay too long. The more darkly-colored doe had acquired, though not nearly to the same extent, Berrybramble's affinity for eating berries. ALL the berries!

Well, maybe Moorglow should be a little more picky next time. >C

"I didn't know eating berries would make me pregnant!" Moorglow exclaimed after the sudden realization that she was, without any doubt or uncertainly, indeed with child. Err... with foal.

Maybe these berries affected more than just the Kimeti's womb. >.>;

Your Story:
Home sat on the floor of his den, staring at the array of intoxicating plants he had found. He had meticulously divided them into several piles, each of them an individual dose that he intended to take on a daily basis. He had enough for about a week, maybe a week and a half if he could stand to skip a day. Carefully, he pushed each pile to the corner of the den, lining them up along one wall where they would be out of the sun. He then returned to one pile that he had kept in the middle, and sat down in front of it.

He started at the pile of leaves and mushrooms for a while. Did he really need to eat it? Did he really need to escape from his boring, lonely life? These plants were horrible for him, he knew that, but instead of contemplating it further, he quickly ate the plants, swallowing any hesitation and regrets along with it.

The brown buck had just stayed in his den for the first hour or so, laying on the floor, writhing and twitching, drooling a little, but not doing much of anything else. His eyes wandered the walls and roof of his den, seeing colorful songbirds and foxbuns flitting about the small room. These were just a hallucination, of course, and perhaps deep down, he knew that. But he still felt compelled to roll on his back, batting at them playfully with a hoof, all the while grinning and laughing like an idiot.

Eventually, something wandered to the entrance of his den. He couldn't tell exactly what it was. To him, it seemed like a beautiful vision, perhaps an incarnation of the Motherfather. Whatever it was, it was singing a siren-song and calling to him, luring him out of the den. He stumbled up, and with a small laugh, started to follow it, bumbling along, laughing and speaking in gibberish to this vision.

He was utterly seduced and simply enchanted with this vision. If he had more sense about him, perhaps he could tell that what he was following was in fact an incredibly desperate and manipulative doe. She was no incarnation of the Motherfather, no shining spirit, but Home was absolutely in love.

Perhaps he had eaten too much... For when the doe led her oblivious companion into her den, Home went in without any hesitation.

The next day, the buck awoke in his sleeping spot in his den. The doe had tucked him in and thanked him, before she left, never to be seen again. He had no memories of the previous night, and had no idea of the 'gift' he had given to the doe. He simply went on with the rest of the day, the way he usually would, and when the sun sank below the horizon, he returned to the piles of leaves and mushrooms in his den, starting it all again.

Your Story: Speak Softly liked him, a lot, and she was very vocal about her feelings. She especially enjoyed watching him sleep and being there to stare lovingly into his eyes when he awoke. No matter that he didn’t seen overly thrilled about it. She overrode his complaints with her own boisterous chatter and followed doggedly no matter what dangerous path he chose. In the end it simply came down to her wearing him down. There is only so much you can take before you decide you will do anything to get someone to leave you alone.

Your Story: The tempting sapphire blue mushrooms, speckled with white spots were her gateway, the start of her "interest" in mycology. Decadence was now a bit of a expert on mushrooms and what effects they had on a kin, even beyond the reason she started them in the first place. Now, several seasons later, she had finally found those pretty blue mushrooms that began it all.

She consumed them eagerly and the effect was swift. Within minuets, she was drunk on her hooves, stumbling a little. The grass under her feet swayed in a melodic fashion and the wind in the trees sang a song as it whistled through leaves. Decadence smiled and swayed her head to the tune.

Suddenly movement in the corner of her eye. Decadence's heart skipped a beat. The bushes ruffled and a form loomed up from them. Her heart was a drum in her chest.

And just like that, there he was.

The buck smiled at Decadence as if he knew exactly who she was. She blushed, her ears laying back a little shyly.

"There you are.." he said in a voice that echoed as if underwater. "I've been waiting for you.."

"I've been looking for you!" she replied, and then stomped her hoof and puffed out her cheeks. "You left me all alone last time and ran off with some other doe!" she scolded him.

He apologized, she forgave him.

They talked the afternoon away, and filled the evening with laughter. The night was filled with passion, a long desire finally full filled after so much searching and so much time alone. When both were spent, Decadence settled next to him, closed her eyes, and was deep asleep almost instantly.

When sunlight assaulted her eyes and bird songs invaded her sleepy brain, Decadence moaned and shifted closer to the buck. But instead of a large, warm body, she rolled over onto her side. Her eyes opened and she sat up.

He was gone.

"No matter.." thought she, slowly getting up. "I finally got to spend the night with him." Her head swam and she stumbled as she pulled herself up onto her hooves. Ugh, a hangover from the mushrooms.

Mushrooms..

It suddenly occurred to her that perhaps the whole thing had been all in her head, a result of eating those blue mushrooms and the memories that came with them. A wave of sadness hit her followed in quick succession by a wave of anger. It'd all been a dream! She'd most likely ate the mushrooms, wandered around during her delusions and simply fell asleep the first place that she fell down at.

And yet she felt..different. There was no real way to describe it, just...different.

"A dream or not a dream.." she mused, taking slow, deliberate steps back to her home. "I suppose only time will tell..."

Your Story: Somebody told her about these mushrooms! Mistletoe was very excited – she was always up for some fun. She had fond memories with many of her playmates when she was young: experimenting and playing like the “old ones” with nuzzles, kisses, and heavy petting.

While Mistletoe had fun with her fellow Acha, she thought she’d try to seduce one of the other kin… but who? She slipped a mushroom in her mouth and went on the hunt. Soon, she found him. His eyes shined with youthful vigor; his coat shimmered in the motley sun through the thick leaves of the Swamp; and his muscles gleamed with every step. Oh she had to have him!

And that was the last thing she remembered. When she woke up, her entire cache of the mushrooms were gone. She must have succeeded because surely she couldn't have eaten them all. Her head pounded with a dull headache, but her heart raced with the excitement of success. What had happened? What is the fun in the game if you didn’t remember it?

Next time, she won't eat the mushrooms as well.

Your Story: Always a fan of a good prank, Lower Down is not as familiar with being on the receiving end as on the giving end. However, when an old colt-hood friend appears out of the blue one day -- a chance crossing of paths, no doubt -- he has no idea that the now fully grown and, he might add, gorgeous, doe in front of him even really remembers him or his pranks. After all most young kimeti played tricks on each other growing up, did they not?

And yet, here she is, smiling and laughing with him about the days past, and Lower Down cannot help but to accept her invitation to dinner.

"I live just around the river bend, actually.... there's a delicious berry-bush that's in bloom this time of year. They're quite potent," her smile is warm, if a little teasing, and Lower Down finds himself grinning a bit like a silly fool as he follows her to her home.

He remembers the smiling, and the laughing... and he remembers her saying something about the fact that she'd be moving soon and hoped they'd stay in touch, but beyond that... the night is a blur. But they don't stay in touch. The doe vanishes just as she'd appeared -- suddenly and with no warning.

At least, until one day she finds him again (unpredictably wily he may be, but still a creature of habit is Lower Down) at his usual den.... with no less than two young foals in her wake....

"Um.... Lower Down, meet your kids."

"....Oh, Swamp.." it's the last thing he remembers before, yet again, his world goes black. Except this time when he wakes up, there are three pairs of eyes staring down at him.

He is, apparently, not the only one to use a few tricks to get their way -- not that he would have been unwilling.

Your Story: The buck stumbled forward panting for breath after having raced away in a panic. Bleed to Know had caught the scent of fresh blood and raced away to avoid the possibilty of becoming lost in one of his visions. The problem was the sudden exertion was making him woozy. Each step became a challenge and he tripped cutting up his front legs.

"Oh no," he thought even as he stood and looked at his injuries... Everything around him became blurred in a red haze.

He felt drawn forward and heard a sweet feminine voice calling to him. "Those injuries need tending, let me help you."

It was the clearest vision he'd ever had and one of the few to ever involve another kin. She tended to him soothing his hurts. There were smiles and coaxing words and ... Bleed's vision faded to blacknesss.

When he woke he was surprised to find his injuries had in fact been tended and the scent of a female lingered around him. He struggled to remember and separate vision and reality. From what he could remember he hoped the helpful lady had left happy. He chose to follow the path where her scent lead, perhaps he'd find her again, perhaps not. Bleed was content to follow the path provided; all would be as the Swamp wished.

Your Story: Ramcats were notoriously elusive-- as sneaky as owlcats only twice as cunning. Even on the best of days catching one was no easy feat, so it went without saying that Edge was more than a little proud of the ramcat carcass currently draped over her shoulders.

Yet just as she was preparing to settle down and eat the thing, she heard a vicious yowling coming from the next bush over. Curious, she slipped through the underbrush, carcass in tow, to find a buck with his jaws fastened around the throat of a lynx of all things, silencing its yowls forevermore.

She dropped her kill to the ground, and they exchanged appraising looks.

“Overcompensating much?” she jeered.

The looks turned meaningful.

“See for yourself."

And she did. The next morning, when she woke up alone with the shreds of a lynx pelt and one ramcat horn, she had to admit he was definitely not overcompensating.

Wanted to remind y'all: don't go all non-consensual with this. I don't think I need to say that, but don't get into creepy/date-rape territory because 1) it violates' gaia's TOS, 2) it goes against the world of Matope, and 3) It creeps me out so if you're really creepy I won't put your entry in my top list. Your Story:
It has become known the swamp over that Longstride is a risk-taker. A veteran one at that. Those who have been (un)fortunate enough to hear the stories from the stag's own mouth likely roll their eyes at the newcomers who listen to him, starry-eyed and smiling, believing every whit of the fantastic tales of his exploits.

However, neither set of kin would ever hear the one about the overripe fruit.

He had eaten it and gone staggering through the underbrush, chuckling to himself at the novelty of the experience: moths left multicolored trails through the air, the plants were all apparently made of velvet, their leaves brushing his flanks like caresses, and even his voice sounded odd, all warbling and singsong. It was not normal. He stepped on a mushroom that let out a puff of violet-colored mist and stopped to giggle. Even as a legendary (and legendaries were supposedly granted visions by the swamp) he had never encountered anything like this.

It meant that when he saw the doe standing in the clearing, as if she had been put there by the Swamp Herself, her golden coat all aglow and sparkling like she was made out of fireflies ... it may indeed have been the best thing to ever happen to anyone.

If asked about the doe, he wouldn't be able to remember her, other than that she had been -- apparently -- made out of fireflies. And she had smelled nice, and had a dulcet voice, and had welcoming eyes...

And that, when he woke up all asprawl with a taste in his mouth not unlike the bottom of a dung pile, she was completely absent.

Of course.

From then on out, the stories about Longstride have always included one about how he has no taste for fruit, and has stopped eating it altogether after one bite of an overripe one.

Your Story:
It was one of those days; the days where every butterfly, every flower, every breeze, reminded Alder of happier days. These days made his bones feel heavy and his breaths labored. He felt like finding a nice flower field and sleeping the day away. These were the days that flashed him back to the dark period, when he didn’t move for days, barely eating, barely drinking. Alder had more control now, was past those feelings of depression. And then these days happened, and even years afterwards, he felt like he was back on square one.

The buck ambled along pensively, exhaustion warring with his indignation. Preoccupied as he was, Alder didn’t notice the plants along the edge of the pond, ones that anyone sane avoided, and younger kin usually flocked to; plants that had made a nice tea in the stagnant pond. What he did notice was that drinking the water helped; perhaps thirst had been messing with his mind, he certainly felt much better. The day was certainly looking up, his steps felt light and easy and he was hearing all the sights of the forest around him - the greens were such a lovely tune. And then she was there, his sunshine. Oh, how he’d missed her, his marvelous sunshine. Something niggled in the back of his mind, but Alder pushed it away – his sunshine was here, anything else could wait until later. Much later.

Much later, waking curled alone in the roots of a tree, Alder realized the problem that had troubled him, his breath whooshing out of his body suddenly, heart plummeting as he realized with bone-deep certainty that he had not been alone last night. He couldn’t hear, couldn’t see, couldn’t breathe over the guilt flooding him.

Your Story: Night Terror had always thought he was one pretty bad buck. All the ladies flocked to him and he always had a different girl every night. He wasn't the type to care if he played with emotions or broke hearts. As long as he got what he wanted. That is until he met her. She was different, and the way she looked at him, he wanted her all to himself. But the world is a cold cruel place. Not only did she use him, abused him, then wiped him off her hoof to lose him, she gave Night Terror a taste of his own medicine. He's not acting the big hot shot buck that he thought he was anymore.

Your Story:
Leaf moved around a lot. Sometimes he was here, other times he was there. It was normal for him to know of others but he never really knew them well. There was this one doe he saw time to time. He was always glad when he was in the area she frequented. Although he never said a word to her.

Until that day. It had been raining hard. Normally he'd just push through. Leaf stopped in the rain and saw her. Standing under a tree for shelter, the doe. She'd been afraid of the storm, much more so than he. Leaf spoke with her, distracted her from the storm. They had such a great conversation that both never realized that the rain had stopped.

Come morning the wanderlust struck him. He didn't want to leave but something pulled him away. At least he had been able to confort the doe for sometime. Perhaps he'd see her another time.

Your Story: The evening was darker than normal, making Air Power stop for the night. She normally would keep going, but she had been traveling for days this time. Laying next to the first tree she found, Air Power started to drift to sleep. As sleep started to encase her, she felt a body lay next to her. Turning to see, she was surprised to see a buck. It was welcoming to have company and she leaned into him.

In the morning, though, he was gone. She looked around for him, but only found some food to eat. Sighing, she moved on, wondering if she would ever see him again.
