 Every Pokemon had a favorite food. Opal's favorite was the Lum Berry! They weren't all that easy to obtain, so Ivory had to frequently special order them. The Pokemart would call her to let her know that her shipment had arrived, and then the girl would have to go to the Mart just to pick up her parcel. The bundled up girl seemed to be in a good mood, humming out a tune for a bit before adding some silly words to it. "Opal got berries from the Lum tree!"  "Ditto?" (Who me)"Yes you!" "Ditto dit!" (Couldn't be)"Then who?" The jiggling mass of white jelly couldn't help but giggle out "DITTO DIT DITTO TO DITTO DIT!!!"The girl laughed, holding her parasol over herself and her ditto as they began to approach the door to the mart. "It's always good to see you in such a good mood Opa..." And then she bumped into somebody with long dark hair. She let out a little yelp as her Pokemon fell with a splat sound on the ground. "Opal?!" she squeaked out afterwards before looking up to who she bumped into. "I-i'm sorry about that..."

One young man had been roving the streets of Camphoreon, minding his own business, with his faithful Growlithe following at his side. With his arms folded behind his head, Yuri meandered upon the sidewalks, his mouth twisted to the side as he gazed off to his left in what could only be interpreted as boredom. He wasn't really watching what was going on in front of him. Thus, he was also surprised as he felt something bump into his chest.
Immediately he stopped, and blinked down at what appeared to be a girl who was overly dressed for the pleasant weather.
"Uh... no harm done. Are you okay?"
Repede huffed in annoyance at his Master's carelessness, and padded over to where a white blob had gone splat on the concrete. He sniffed at it, peering at Opal with his one eye. "Ruff!"

Behind her dark lenses, the girl couldn't help but squint a bit. Before this person had spoken up, it was hard to tell if this was a man or a woman. However, the moment he spoke up, she knew the proper gender. "I... I guess I am... oh gosh, I didn't poke you in the eye with my umbrella, did I?" She pulled the parasol away and closed it up for a moment, as if she had already decided that she was going to accidentally blind someone at this rate with her "deadly" weapon.
There was a nose so close to the white jelly on the ground. "Dit......" she seemed to whine a bit before rather suddenly reaching out her stubby jelly arms to try to latch onto that sniffing nose.

Lowering his hands from behind his head, one of which had an even deadlier weapon dangling from it, Yuri laughed softly. "No, I'm fine. Don't worry about it." His other hand coming to rest on his hip. He gazed with a hint of curiosity at her umbrella and style of dress.
"Is it supposed to rain today?" His dark eyes glancing to the sky for a moment, which actually didn't have a cloud in it. He could understand the glasses though, it was a bit bright.
Repede's ears stood straight up and his eye widened as the blob moved and latched onto his nose. He made several whuffing sounds as he tried to shake it off, causing Yuri to glance downward.
"Heh, looks like Repede is making friends with your... blob... thing." He wasn't exactly well versed on Pokemon.

The subtlety of his glances could not be observed on her own end, but his question was a pretty common one when dealing with her. "Oh... um... no... it's just... me and sunshine... we... kinda don't get along too well..." Though she was willing to share that aspect of her life, it didn't make it any less embarrassing. Soon enough the bridge of her nose was quite flush.
The ditto was whipped up slightly from the ground as the fire type began to panic slightly. She whined out "Ditto diiiit!!!" before slapping back to the ground, once more seemingly flattened.
The mention of her ditto caused her to look towards the pair of Pokemon. "Well, Opal does like to make friends... though I think she's not doing as good as she usually does... it's a good thing she really doesn't seem to have bones like this..." She chuckled awkwardly before adding "...and 'blob-thing'... is a Ditto..."

Her embarrassment was evident, and it caused Yuri to feel a little bad for asking. "Oh, sorry about that." He really didn't know what else to say. It wasn't like he came across people with sun issues often. He just knew that it really had to suck.
Once the Ditto was dislodged from his face and promptly a puddle again, the puppy Pokemon looked appropriately befuddled. He'd never had his face attacked by a gelatinous creature before. It was a bit... unnerving.
"Ditto, huh? It... is a Pokemon, right?" Yuri was used to seeing things like Rattata, Pidgey, and the occasional pet like a Pikachu or something. Sometimes he saw some fancier ones in the more well-to-do sections of Devoirue. But never something like this.
Repede walked away for a moment and then promptly returned with a stick in his mouth. Which he used to prod at Opal and attempt to scrape her off the sidewalk.

It wasn't too hard to believe that this man hadn't seen a ditto before. They weren't all that common to begin with, but they were more common than a certain other Pokemon.
"Uh... yes... Ditto is the transform Pokemon... usually... they aren't the color that Opal is... typically they are pink..." Ivory had heard rumors of shiny dittos and how they were blue, but she had never seen one in person herself.
The stick easily slid under the jelly mess' body, and eventually she seemed to regain a bit more volume. It would seem that the transform Pokemon didn't really have legs so much as a base she moved in a nearly slug-like manner.
"Ditto dit dit!" she thanked the puppy Pokemon before seeming to make her way to his paw and giving it a firm pat with one of her two stubby arms.
Backing up a couple steps so she could ensure nobody's eyes would be getting poked out, she opened up her parasol once more. "I was here to pick up an order of Lum Berries... but if you'd like a quick demonstration... I'm certain Opal would be more than willing to oblige..."

"So then it transforms, huh? Into something else?" That was pretty amazing. He'd never heard of a Pokemon that could do something like that. He was willing to bet that could come in pretty handy, especially in the right situations.
Yuri would probably be interested in getting one himself, if he was into that kind of thing. He really wasn't all that interested in training or Pokemon in general. Repede was enough for him, and he was a partner and friend more than anything. He didn't really like animals fighting for him. He was more of a hands on kind of guy.
Repede sat himself down and tilted his head, the stick still in his mouth, as the Ditto thanked him and patted his paw. "Gruff!" He barked back at the Ditto, seemingly pleased to be of assistance.
The offer of a demonstration caused Yuri to lift a brow and fold his arms across his chest. "Yeah, sure. I guess I could watch." He didn't really know what to expect, but watching a Pokemon turn into something else couldn't be all bad.

It had been a slow process, but at some point, the girl's cheeks had cooled off enough to return to their usual color. She giggled slightly from where she stood as she twirled the parasol slightly over her. This man really did seem pretty unaware of what a Ditto did. It was funny, yet somewhat endearing. "Opal... could you please use Transform?"  The ditto lifted up her arm and saluted in the direction of her friend before seeming to slinky back slightly so she wasn't in the way of the Puppy Pokemon. Once in place, her body seemed to glow slightly before her form seemed to shift. Her jelly seemed to vanish as she gained fur, a tail, and a wildly sniffing pink nose. The glow seemed to dim, and all of a sudden, the ditto was no longer a ditto. Instead, she was now what seemed like a truly legit Growlithe of the wrong color.With an awkward smile, the bundled up trainer nodded her head in the Pokemon's direction. "Good girl, Opal!" Glancing to the man, she mentioned "...she retains her albinism no matter what form she takes... if she was the usual color, she'd take on the normal colorations of whatever Pokemon she became." "Growl growl!" she yipped before rushing over to the true Growlithe, her nose sniffing at him as she began to circle him, investigating him in a whole new manner.

Yuri watched with fascination as the little pile of white goo started to change its shape, and eventually formed itself into an exact likeness of Repede. Or... well... his species at least. The man bent down into a squat to get a better look at this Pokemon while the girl explained.
"Wow, that's really something."
Repede stared as he too watched, first the transformation, then the Ditto turned Growlithe as she came over to him. He sniffed back at her, the scent having not changed... but the other Pokemon definitely looked like a Growlithe now. He wasn't exactly an excitable dog, but he allowed her to check him out in the typical doggy fashion.
"So it can change into any Pokemon?" Yuri was now asking as he stood up once again.

Opal saw the movement of the dark haired human, ducking down more to her level for a brief moment. With a fast wagging of her momentarily fluffy tail, she soon enough had abandoned her post in investigating the dark colored Growlithe and soon enough had made her way to this man. She partially jumped up, trying to place her paws on his legs, nose sniffing like crazy in his general direction. Her eyes squinted a bit, as if she was trying to see a bit better, but the false Growlithe knew such efforts were in vain.
"Opal! You don't need to knock over... um..." There was a pause before she laughed in an embarrassed manner. "Oh... I didn't even ask what your name is... Mine is Ivory Woods." She carefully leaned down so she didn't poke anybody with her parasol and touched the false canine on the ear.
"...and that's what Dittos do... the only attack they know is to transform. However, they can only transform into a Pokemon that is in front of them. Once they change though, they basically become the other Pokemon... genetically that is. So things like scars don't transfer over. Dittos even have the moves that the other Pokemon knows." She laughed slightly before adding in some commentary. "I have been told that being able to transform is like a defense mechanism for the dittos... but... if anything... Opal is a bit at the disadvantage, since she stands out so much, even when transformed."

Feeling a tug on his pants, Yuri looked down to see the white Growlithe pawing at his legs. Chuckling, he reached down a hand to ruffle the Ditto dog's scruffy mane. She was certainly a friendly Pokemon. Repede though just pulled his ears back and yawned, the stick still hanging from his mouth.
Looking back up as names were mentioned, the man gave a smile. "Yuri Lowell," he said, surrendering his own name.
Listening to Ivory's explanation, he gained a better understanding of the Pokemon before him. It was all rather... educational. "Huh. Well I guess being all white would do that." She did kind of stick out like a sore thumb and all.

Yey! This person was a friend, that was super easy peasy! Opal contorted slightly so she could try to give a couple of puppy kisses on the man's hand. However, one of her ears perked up for a moment, and soon enough a pair of red eyes were upon Repede.
He yawned? Did that mean he was bored? Did that mean he wanted to play? Eagerly, she seemed to hop back towards the legitimate Growlithe, crouching her upper body down and sticking her rump in the air, wagging her fluffy tail back and forth almost like a banner. She barked out a couple times, asking the other Pokemon if he wanted to play.
With just as much caution as before, she edged back before straightening herself upright once Opal had found herself another way to keep entertained. Behind her glasses, she closed her eyes, and repeated in her mind his name three times. Yuri Lowell, Yuri Lowell, Yuri Lowell! Hopefully that would be enough for her to remember this man's name in the future. She opened up her eyes again, then stated "It's nice to meet you, Yuri Lowell!" She smiled and briefly offered her gloved hand for a handshake. "Do you prefer going by Yuri, or something else?"
The mention of her pokemon's color did stir up a mention of another legitimate concern. "...well... her eyes also give her a lot of trouble too in all honesty... I don't think she'd be able to handle being a wild Pokemon all that long... too many impairments..."

Repede huffed a little as Opal started to get overly friendly with his master, but remained where he sat. Yuri's fingers twitching a little as a wet tongue lapped at them. But then the Dittolithe's attention turned to him and the real Growlithe watched her and the clear indications of a desire to play. He barked back once, before standing and shaking out his coat. He supposed he could indulge her a little. Repede then crouched down as well, waiting for Opal to make the first move.
Yuri tilted his head and lifted his brows in amusement as Ivory seemed to be concentrating on something, then announced her pleasure in meeting him. However, he looked down at her hand and blinked once in confusion as it was offered to him. "Huh? It's just Yuri," he said before looking at his own hand and extending it towards her as well.
"You mean like yours?" Yuri asked when the conversation went back to Opal and her inability to see well. "That's why you wear those shades, right?"

OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH!! IT WAS PLAY TIME! PLAAAAAAAAAY TIME!!!
Still keeping her upper body close to the ground, she hopped to the side a bit, then back towards where she was originally, her eyes now as focused as they could be on the darkish blur in front of her. She yipped excitedly before she suddenly bounded forward in an attempt to tackle the other in a friendly manner.
She was called out mid-handshake, which left the girl's hand in the man's for a moment where she seemed to lose the will to grip his. Had he managed to figure out her secret so quickly? Or was he just saying that her eyes were similar to Opal's by just being weak.
He couldn't know... she tried to reassure herself as she once more seemed to regain the ability to squeeze and shake hands with Yuri.
"...w-well... my eyes aren't nearly as strong as I'd like them to be... I'll confess that much... it's just easier on me this way... I suppose..." Her hand eventually withdrew from his before she turned towards the mart door.
She definitely was in need of a change of subject. "...well... for an apology for bumping into you... would you maybe want some of the Lum Berries I have waiting in there? They can be very useful..." Certainly they could be useful, but Opal just liked to nibble on them for flavor.
