Lewenharto
There were many things that he expected to be that morning. A lion, yes, awake, of course, but a captive? Not at all. It was odd how events could shift in just a few moments, how even one small alteration in the course of events could avoid another entirely. Perhaps if he had gone for a drink of water before going out to collect more of the aloe growing in the dry dirt along the rocks he would be happily in his den right now finishing a new dye. He had several berries from a variety of places just sitting in a concave scrap of bark he'd managed to pull off of a dying tree. A very useful thing, that. He crushed the berries with a stone and removed their skins with careful claws. There were star charts left unfinished, those woudld take months to re-make... and that would mean he'd lose the information fromt he previous sesions.

Still, all things considered he was pleasant in his capture and walked along without much of a fuss. His eyes wandered and his mouth never stopped running. There were always questions. For example...

"So this pride of yours, it's along the sea you said? I heard there was some activity in the waves along the sea, sometime after that small earthquake. Do you think the two are connected?"

Magpie:
Magpie had endured a good couple of hours so far with the artistic male. She had learned and listened to what he had to say; it was intriguing but she was a tired merchant. She looked up at the sky and blew off some of his questions; not that they weren't intriguing. She thought of all the stars now that he blew his mind with those. A map? She just let her paws take her places. She was clever, but he seemed to be even more then she. This both pleased her, and made her envy his knowledge. Maybe even liked him beyond that of her affections for her king; his mouth was pretty. She liked how he spoke.

"I did say this, yes." She blinked a little. She had yet to actually learn his name or even say her own. Or tell him her rank. She just said she was kidnapping him to her pride. Maybe his tongue would be a good sale. It would be useful for when she needed things auctioned off.
"Well. Some say even in the deepest center there is ground. So I.. gather? But how do you think they are?" She looked back at him and tilted her head. She had tied a piece of string connecting the two at the neck. So if he tried to flee she'd use her center of gravity; she was small little lion. But big things fell harder.

Lewenharto:
"Well the two happened around the same time." The male mused, his eyes drifting up towards the sky. He didn't seem all that bothered by the rope around his neck or the female's insistance that he would be relocated perminantly. There must have been a reason for it. Perhaps there was something to be seen along the water's edge, perhaps there were individuals with talents he could observe, or perhaps he just wasn't having a good day. All likely answers.

"Say you have a bowl on the ground and you drop something heavy beside it, the water is disturbed. I think the same could be said of the earth. It shakes, the water reacts. Sometimes violently. Though there's another question- is there earth under the water? Has anyone gone into the sea to find that out? I've not been to the sea myself, I've been meaning to go."

Magpie:
Oh no, she had found a crazy. A crazy-smart-but still crazy lion. Well, she was pretty off her rocker too. Was she beginning to warm up to the male? It had only been hours since she met him. Her dark eyes glanced over her shoulder. "O..Of course there's ground under the sea. And of course we go into the sea. Not often as the water makes you sick. It's saltier then a zebra's meat. It's like asking if the Oasis has earth in it." She shrugged a little. "I was always taught that the elements are all connected. Without one you can not make the other. An endless cycle, if you will."

Lewenharto:
"I thought as much." He laughed out loud, throwing his head back as he did so. "It makes sense. I've only heard tell of the ocean. Some call it the 'big water', others call it the end of the world. I myself have not seen it so it's unfair for me to make such observations."

He shrugged his shoulders. "Yes and no. Just as a spirit and a body share the same space, they are often very seperate. It's an uncommon creature that can keep the two in perfect balance. Most lions I've met listen only to the body. The spiritual sorts have been interesting as well, so much that they seem blind to the world. Of course then there's the mind that unites the two of them- I've met few that use that specific part of themselves."

Magpie:
"Maybe you are a good find after all." She stopped almost dead on her paws and tilted her head. "What do they call you?" She said in an amused fashion. She had a bit of an ego to her, however it was more of one that makes a sly little bird fascinating. Not one that makes her sound like a brute that wants 50 children. I mean. Not that she wouldn't WANT 50 children; because to her that sounds like a good full house! She wanted a lot of kiddies running around.
Dark eyes filled with wonder. "I enjoy using my mind. I have to daily. It is what i need to trust. The pride you will see is very.. Different if you will.. But the King will be delighted on my find." She grinned. "You are someone he has been looking for, for quite awhile I assure."

Lewenharto:
"Ah well I thank you." He chuckled a little. A good find? Well it was a complement. He hoped. There were rumors of a pride that often brought in sacrifices to appease whatever gods they were currently indebted to. He believed in the gods, of course, but he wasn't exactly hoping to give his life for one.

"It depends on what you mean by 'they'." He waved a paw in the air, "I have many titles, few are flattering, but if you want my name it's Lewenharto. Perhaps I might know what you call yourself?"

He smiled a bit more. "How refreshing. You're qutie a find yourself. If a seeker can be found that is. As for your pride, I must admit I'm a little nervious. Most guests aren't brought in on the end of a rope. Might I ask just why I am such a... valuable haul?"

Magpie:
"Well I gather others. Unless you do not speak to many others. Lewenharto.. That's a mouthful. My pride calls me Magpie.. However I do not speak my real name often it is Fiedel.." She blinked a little and then tilted her head gently. "I would much rather Magpie, I don't answer to my cubbing name anymore."

She almost wanted to blush just a bit. But the merchant was used to being called pretty. She was a merchant. Buying and selling sometimes meant being complimented on her perty body. "It's how I treat most of the shiny things I find. However I usually don't tend to tie myself to them. They're usually tied onto me. And.. Not larger then I am." She looked up at him. "Or breathing for that matter." She hummed a little. "Unless I am hungry because you know.. But I guess they aren't breathing then either. Or living.. Anymore. I don't tie them to my body either. But anyhow. You're shiny. And pretty.. I must have you around.. Dark lonely caves do not deserve your pretty pelt." She cleared her throat. "Well. Your body does that's for sure. I am not one to skin things. So you can keep the pelt on your hide until you pass.. Whenever you do that is. Don't be dying on me now though. You'll be useful... I figure I feel that you'll be a good lion in our pride."

Lewenharto:
"Magpie. Plucking up whatever catches your eye, how very appropreate." He tugged on the rope a little. "I do hope that this is not ah.. a perminant arrangement. I'm more useful as a tool than I am a charm."

He started forward once more, leaving some slack in the rope inbetween them. He didn't know where they were going but he figured if he was verring in the wrong direction she'd correct him soon enough.

The complements earned a smile but it didn't seem to settle over him any more than that. He didn't chuckle as a flattered male might or return the complement. A dip of the head in thanks for the kind words was a detatched but sincere answer to the flattery. "Useful breathing I would hope. My cooling body would be little more than a day's meal for a pride and a cub's blanket."

Magpie:
"That is why I am the Head Merchant." She expressed and then noticed how bad that would seem. "I'm not a slave trader though." She chuckled. "Merchant.. As in selling items.. So no.. You are not my charm. The rope is so that I don't lose you. Or you try to escape." SHe looked at his paws. "Because I can make you tumble faster then you can say 'escape'." A sly smile creeped her mouth.
She wasn't crazy; I swear.

When he started to came up to follow him and then join his side. She didn't correct him. So he had been doing the right thing. "Oh dear me. No.. No need to skin you and eat you. We're gypsies dear. Gypsies. Not Cannibals." She chuckled happily. "You're a very peculiar thing.. Would I be able to call you Leo dear?"

Lewenharto:
He laughed again. "Madam, I must be honest. I am very afraid of what you would do to me if I did try to escape. Fear is a stronger rope than anything you could find on this grassland- but it does tend to keep one alive."

He snorted. "You can call me "Leo" only if you stop calling me "dear". My mother called me that before I had a fluff of hair to call a mane."

Magpie:
She chuckled along with him and nodded. "It is good you're afraid of me. Those who aren't learn how wrong they are fast." She was honest.. Right?
She moved and took the rope off of his neck and then put it into a tree. "I will still drop you if I have to though." She gave him a warning glance.

She grinned at his comment. "Some say I'd be a good mother. Teach my children the ways of a Magpie.." Her tail flicked. "And hopefully not of some of the ways my King has taught his people. Not that he is at all a bad man." Her head dipped to the left a little. "If I call you dear it is just a way to show my affections. It means your a good man. But Leo it is." She glanced at him again and then kept walking.

Lewenharto:
He bowed his head so the rope was removed a little easier. He didn't wear earrings or trinkets, just a simple crimson pelt and a satchel for holding his found trinkets in. He paused for a moment and tilted his head, considering. After a moment he stretched up to retrieve the rope and sling it over his back. "Waste not want not. You never know when you'll need a good length of rope."

He didn't doubt that. His own mother would tan his backside if he disobeyed. He wouldn't doubt this lioness would leave a few sore backsides if she had cubs that crossed her the wrong way. "Well I hope you can have little ones of your own some day. It sounds to me that this king of yours is a little...unsteady on his feet right now. But I may be picking up the wrong signals."

He smiled a little. "Well thank you for the complement."

Magpie:
She chuckled softly, "I'll expect something in payment for that." She meant the rope, and she was joking. As they moved she saw the treeline break and the sea rush it's salty smell towards them. She huffed and inhaled happily. "Home~." She said halfly. It was her home now but by the extra tuffs on her, it was obvious she actually was from the north. And that Gypsy wasn't her first try in life.

"You're welcome." She thought of cubs and she grinned happily. "I would love cubs of my own. It's a dream I guess. I don't talk much about my dreams.. Really. It's nice to have someone from outside to talk to sometimes.." Blinked up at him. "Thieves sometimes don't make good conversation."

Lewenharto:
He took a deep breath as well. Salt? Interesting. She hadn't been fibbing on grounds at least. It was...refreshing somehow. New, different, and refreshing.

"Perhaps I'll find a way to pay you back for the rope. Though, to be fair, you were discarding it originally."

He smirked over to her. "All actions start first with a dream. Well. Shall we?"
