After a night of partying and subsequently recovering from a hangover, Yuri now found himself roaming the streets of Camphoreon, getting a feel for the place. It was very different from Devoirue but he was able to pick things out and get at least somewhat familiar with the area. He didn't care much for the downtown areas with the bustling pace and glittering shops. Instead he favored the older and more run down sides of town that had a more laid back and casual feel. It felt more like home there.

It wasn't long though until he reached the outskirts of town, and paused on a dusty road that overlooked the windswept plains stretching out to the south. A breeze coming from the ocean behind him blew through his hair and the grasses that created a beautiful rippling effect. Now this was something he could get use to.

As Yuri stood there and marveled at the countryside, a strange looking blue and white Growlithe sat next to him. Its left eye closed with a jagged scar over it. His one blue eye also looking over the landscape. The puppy Pokemon also had a twig, that he'd picked up somewhere, hanging out the corner of his mouth. After a few moments of sitting there, the Growlithe looked around, ears twitching before opening his mouth with a wide and moaning yawn.

Seeming to take this as a cue, Yuri proceeded to move on with the Growlithe following. He decided to follow the path to see where it went, at least for a little ways. He didn't care to wander too far from town just yet.

While it could be said that Guy was much more at home in the modern structure of city-life, he was by no means apposed to a little time out in the country. The wide, open spaces and the endless skies of the plains helped to clear his head of all of the muck and muddle of Camphoreon - and of the drama in his own life. The whole ordeal with Luke and Asch had all but drained Guy of his energy, compounded by the incident a few day earlier when Guy got the message that the two were in the hospital. All that had led to was a whole mish-mash of tension and strains and uncomfortable situations, and Guy felt like the only way to keep his sanity intact at the moment was to just get away from it all, hence his excursion into the countryside of southern Kodo.

In the bright early-afternoon sun, Guy stood in the middle of the expansive green plains, facing toward his Zoroark a short ways away. They were still for a few moments, and then on some unspoken cue, both trainer and Pokemon lunged forward and began sparring hand-to-hand. They took turns landing blows, kicks, punches, and parries as they stepped back and forth around the empty landscape. It had been some time since Guy or Oki had been able to fight, so they both agreed that spending the day training would be the best thing for them both. Anonymes, on the other hand, was just content to watch the training while he explored happily around the plains, making little wreaths of wildflowers.

Guy was preparing to counter a kick from Oki before the Illusion Pokemon stopped mid-strike and stood watching the path nearby, his ears flicked backward and a low growl emanating from his throat. Guy blinked and dropped his hands. "What's wrong, Oki?" He turned around to see what Oki was growling at and he was surprised to find a person walking down the path nearby with a small Pokemon at their side. However, what surprised Guy even more and gave him pause was the outfit the man wore. It was undeniably the clothing style of the Grande Ile - there was no doubt about it. They were a bit more... shabby, true, but identifiable enough. There was Grande Ile people everywhere these day, it seemed. "...Hello," Guy called out as the man passed near, figuring he might as well make polite conversation.

Cresting a hill, it didn't take long for Yuri to pick up on the sounds of what seemed to be fighting.. or more appropriately.. sparring. Although the Pokemon and human pair caught the Growlithe's attention first and he paused, looking on with one narrowed eye. When the Zoroark started to growl, he did as well. But by then, Yuri had already noticed them and was now standing on the path, looking in Guy's direction. Right hand on his hip, and from his left dangled a sword. There was a casual smile on Yuri's face as they were noticed and greeted.

However, that smile faltered for a moment and was replaced with a stunned look. "Wha-... Flynn?!" What the hell was he doing here?! Yuri then started to walk in Guy's direction, and as he got closer, Yuri's pace slowed a bit and he frowned. Wait. Something wasn't right here. Flynn shouldn't be here, and last he knew, Flynn didn't have a Pokemon that looked like... that. He'd definitely remember it. Plus he was a little too tall and this man carried himself differently. Definitely not Flynn. Not to mention, Repede wouldn't have growled at Flynn. Said Growlithe was following Yuri but didn't look especially happy to see this man.

"Whoa, sorry man. I thought you were someone else."

Guy relaxed a bit when the man returned his greeting with a smile, bringing Guy to smile back. His own smile disappeared when the man suddenly looked confused and called him by a name he did not recognize - Flynn. Guy's eyebrows rose and he took a half-step backward as the man quickly walked towards him. The man suddenly admitted his mistake, and Guy sighed lightly, chuckling and feeling more than a bit awkward in the situation. "No, no, it's fine. Don't worry about it. Is, uh... Is this Flynn a friend of yours or something?" Well, whoever he was, it was obvious that this man did not expect to see him here where Guy was now.

Oki started growling louder and bared his teeth as the stranger stepped closer to Guy, but a stern look from his trainer hushed up the suspicious Zoroark, though that did not stop the Pokemon from growing tense. Unlike his teammate, Anonymes was more than happy to meet this new person. He looked like he was from the same place that Master and Sir Luke were from! How wonderful! That means that they would all get along, right? Surely they must!

As Guy studied this new person for a moment, the irrefutable shape of the sword dangling from his hand. Now, that was interesting. Seemed all Grande Ile men carried swords on their person. If that pattern continued to this man, then that sword would not be fake. Smiling quietly to himself, Guy folded his arms before speaking. "Impressive-looking sword, there. Are you very skilled with it?"

"Yeah," Yuri replied, not seeing any reason to get into details about his relationship with Flynn. Especially since he barely knew this guy. Although he had to admit, the resemblance was kinda creepy. Maybe Flynn had some long lost twin brother or something .. Naw. What were the odds of that? I mean, really.

Yuri chose to ignore the growling whatever-it-was, but Repede did not take it so lightly. The Growlithe bristling and snarling back at the Zoroark as if daring him to make a move. Despite his smaller size, the dog mon was not at all intimidated by the dark type. He would protect his master if the other Pokemon saw fit to attack. But when Oki seemed to calm down, Repede's growling also subsided, but he kept a careful eye on him.

Yuri also noticed the sword that the other man sported, and a smirk appeared on his face. "There's only one way to find out," Yuri replied to the question of his skills. He hadn't had a good match in some time, and Yuri certainly had a love for using his sword. That is if that guy was up to the challenge.

"Name's Yuri," he continued. There was no sense in getting into a fight when they didn't even know each other's names.

Guy was still curious about this Flynn person, whoever he was, but he did not want to question this man about it - he hardly knew the guy, after all. All thoughts of the person named Flynn left Guy when the man before him proposed his challenge, and Guy chuckled in reply, a confident smile on his face. "That's just what I wanted to hear," he said, pulling his sword from its sheath. It had been a while since Guy had had a proper fight with another swordsman, and now seemed like the opportune moment. He hoped that this man would give him a good fight.

in response to Yuri's introduction, Guy proffered his own. "I'm Guy. Pleasure to meet you, Yuri." Guy suddenly remembered Oki behind him, and he looked back at the Zoroark. "We're fine here, Oki. Go on and play with Anonymes." Oki rolled his eyes and stalked unhappily over to the Lampent, who joyfully gave the Zoroark a crown of flowers. With that out of the way, Guy turned back to Yuri, stepping back into a starting stance. "Shall we begin, then?"

Challenge accepted. Confidence radiated from Yuri as well as he flung the sheath of his sword to the side to reveal the glinting metal of the katana's blade. He then flipped the sword up and caught it by the hilt, taking his own stance.

Repede, knowing that a fight was about to begin, meandered off in the direction where Yuri's scabbard had gone and laid down in the grass to watch. Considering the hostile greeting from the Zoroark, the Growlithe didn't feel particularly inclined to be social with the other human's Pokemon.

When Guy was ready and asked if they should begin, Yuri grinned. "Oh yeah, bring it!" And with that, the raven haired man burst out in a charge towards the other, brandishing his blade.
PostPosted: Sun Apr 22, 2012 12:22 pm

This Yuri was showy, certainly, and he appeared to have enough confidence to warrant some definite skill with his blade. Guy did not know what exactly to expect, but he knew that he had to be wary. He had to watch Yuri's movements - try to determine just how to approach this fight.

Yuri's attack came quickly, and a smirk appeared on Guy's face as he stood, gripping his sword hilt tightly in his right hand and his sheath in his left. As Yuri charged, Guy swiftly sidestepped and slashed at the man, trying to strike at any openings in his defenses.

Even if Oki wasn't happy sitting out of the fight, Anonymes was quite content to watch his master fight. His master was such a good fighter, after all! Master could win, he knew! Though that other man looked to be really good with a sword, as well! They were both so adept with it! How exciting this was! Looking around, the Lampent caught sight of the Pokemon the other man had alongside him. He was sitting all alone on the outskirts of the battle. Anon should go over and say hello! It was only chivalrous, after all.

Floating happily over to the Growlithe, Anonymes waved in greeting and hovered next to the other Fire-type. ["Hello! What's your name? My name is Anonymes!"]

Guy's strikes were parried and Yuri quickly went back on the offensive with three slashes of his sword. He then did a back flip to avoid more of Guy's blows and quickly dashed to his left while spinning the sword through the air from his left to his right hand in order to attack at Guy's right. The sword again was flung behind him and over his shoulder to catch it once more in his left hand to then attack at the his opponent's left, going at Guy from all angles. He may be showy, but there was method to Yuri's madness.

Repede looked up as the Lampent floated over to him and started talking. "" he answered back with a slightly gruff tone but not an unfriendly one.
PostPosted: Sun Apr 22, 2012 12:51 pm

This Yuri was skilled, no doubt about it - Guy was having difficulty keeping up with his quick movements. He blocked the three strikes and stepped back to charge, but he was caught off guard by the sudden switch of hands Yuri pulled. Turning to the defensive, Guy blocked the attacks from all sides as best as he could, gritting his teeth. This fight wouldn't be easy, he could tell right now.

Strafing off to his opponent's right, Guy tried to get back the offense by parrying with several quick slashes and forward strikes, then he moved out of the way with a back-flip of his own, his feet landing lightly on the ground. Already, he was breathing heavily, and he gave a small smile as he fought to catch his breath. "Well... You're no amateur, that's for sure. How long have you practiced with the sword?"

Anonymes' eyes lit up in delight as the Growlithe gave his name. ["Repede? That's such a cool name!"] Situating himself right next to Repede, Anonymes watched the fight curiously. ["Your master is really good at swordfighting! Are you good at fighting, too, Repede?"]

Yuri was forced back into defense with Guy's strong and fast blows, blocking them with his sword. This man was a little bit stronger than he was, he could tell with the force of the impact. Definitely not an opponent to take lightly. He narrowly dodged another strike and ducked away as Guy did his back flip.

Also breathing heavily, Yuri grinned back at the fellow swordsman as they took a quick break. This was rather exhilarating, for he always enjoyed a good fight.

"You're pretty good yourself," he replied in compliment, already forming some respect for the blonde. "Since I was a kid, but I got most of my skills from when I was in the Guarde." While he was militarily trainer, Yuri also added his own flare to the moves he had learned back then. Making it his own unique sort of style.

The Lampent was really enthusiastic, and if Repede wasn't in a patient mood, he might be a bit annoyed by the ghost. But he tolerated him for the time being. "" Repede wasn't one to boast, but he was a fighter by nature, much like the human he lived with.
PostPosted: Sun Apr 22, 2012 1:24 pm

"You were in the Guarde, really?" That particular fact took Guy by surprise, though when he thought about it, he supposed that it made sense - his style of fighting did have parallels to the military. Guy gave a chuckle as he regained some of his strength. "I learned a lot of what I knew from... well, from when I was a kid," he began, choosing his words carefully. "I had an instructor for a long while, and he taught me well. Much of what I do is self-taught, however."

Taking a deep breath, Guy brandished his sword and dashed at Yuri, slashing and strike anywhere that he could. Yuri wasn't as strong as he was, but he was a good deal faster. Guy had to choose his attacks carefully if he wanted any chance of winning.

["You're good at fighting? That's good to hear! I don't really like fighting that much, but my master has been teaching me how to use swords, and I'm doing really well so far!"] Anonymes beamed at Repede. ["Oki's really good at fighting, too. He fought my master himself when they first met. It was super cool to watch!"]

"Yeah, but I quit after a few months." That was a long story right there, and not one to get into at the moment, if ever. "Same here, other than the Guarde, I'm mostly self taught." He didn't have the money to afford an instructor when he was a kid, after all.

When Guy made his charge, Yuri was ready for him. He too ran at his opponent, his blade in his left hand as he approached Guy at his right. He lashed out with his sword as he passed, and the clang of metal rang through the air as their weapons collided. Being quick on his feet, the man used that momentum to spin around and make an attack at Guy's rear.

Repede tilted his head at this when Anon informed him that he was learning to use a sword. He felt a spark of envy. He too would like to use a blade, but he didn't have two arms like the ghost had. But did that really mean he couldn't use a weapon? Hm. ""
PostPosted: Sun Apr 22, 2012 2:05 pm

The clash of metal on metal rang in Guy's ears and reverberated down his arm, shaking his concentration for a split second. That moment was long enough for Yuri to catch Guy off guard from behind, and he quickly spun around to block the attack. Narrowing his eyes, Guy forced Yuri's blade away and started forward, slashing and hacking at any opening he could find before swiftly stepping off to Yuri's left side, dropping down to aim a sweeping kick at Yuri's ankles to knock him off-balance.

["Well, it's just in case, y'know? In case my master is in trouble, and that way I can help protect him so he won't get hurt. I always want to protect my master."] Anonymes' golden eyes were hard-set in determination - a look that was uncharacteristic for such a free-spirited little Ghost. He may not be able to fight too well, but he could at least help his master. He would always protect Master.

Guy's superior strength pushed Yuri's blade away, causing him to stagger for a split second. Just long enough for him to lose his footing, forcing him to back step several paces as Guy came at him with a series of vicious blows. The strength behind them making it so Yuri had to use both hands to steady his sword against them, one on the hilt and his palm against the back of the blade.

The kick caught him by surprise as he'd had most of his attention focused on blocked the sword. His feet were knocked out from under him and Yuri fell backward. However, he quickly rolled on his back as he kicked his feet into the air into a one-handed hand stand and flipping back onto his feet again. All of that happening in mere seconds. He ducked away again as Guy made use of the opening, spinning around in a half crouched position. As he did so, his sword switched hands again and Yuri lashed out in an upper swing of his sword at his opponent's outstretched blade. In that next instant, Guy's sword went spiraling up through the air and landed point first into the ground several feet away. The weapon now embedded in the soil.

Repede nodded his head at Anon in clear understanding of his intentions. He could certainly understand and relate with the other Pokemon in that regard. However, the Growlithe's ears perked up as he noticed that Guy had been relieved of his sword. The battle was over.
