Spring time in the desert didn't come with the same trappings that one might necessarily appreciate with Spring; there were no Flaaffy or Mareep here, tending to their newborn lambs, no Torchic chirping after militant fire-type mother birds... One was unlikely to see a new flower blooming from the sands, or feel the fuzzy, slightly stifling effect of grass types releasing pollen to the air in vast numbers... Of course, who knew what might be happening within the Team Rocket base, but out here, in nature, that was not happening in a desert. Not that it was devoid of life, of course. Wild pokemon- insects, ground types flying types- could be heard, or perhaps even glimpsed, at a distance; one learned not to get to close to the big red R, after all.
The Spring air felt -good-. So it was a desert... Tambrey didn't really care. She was outside, in the Spring. Training shoes, black work-out shorts and a light blue top gave the impression that she'd come out here for a run, or at least some form of exercise or training- bolstered by the water bottle on the ground and the soft sheen across her skin- but, now, she seemed to be either on a break or having finished. The grunt was wearing her glasses, looking out across the sands, apparently, though if one got close enough to see, as she took a deep breath in, they'd see that her eyes were, momentarily, closed. It was a good day to be outside... And away from various stresses within.

There was nothing better than the smell of fresh air. Even more so after one had been coped up for a week in the infirmary. No more disinfectant or other chemicals they used to keep it sterile down there.
Rory breathed in deep and released the air slowly. It felt good to have fresh oxygen again. The sun was already burning hot but it didn't seem to bother him. It actually felt good on his skin that was exposed due to his white tank top and black shorts.
He let his pokemon out of her ball to enjoy the freedom and sunlight for a while as he looked for a spot to lay down and get a bit of sun.

Opening her eyes, the grunt caught a flash of red nearby- a pokeball release, there was no misidentifying that particular flash these days. So, someone else was out here. It wasn't surprising at all on such a day and letting pokemon out to enjoy it was probably a good idea. Or, the fliers at least. She reached down, having taken the pokeballs from her belt and placing them with the water bottle earlier. One after the other, three flashes revealed three flying pokemon; a pink Golbat and two normal Pidgeotto, one dressed in a ridiculous scarf for such weather. Palu looked around, puffed up, frowned and immediately settled to roost in the sand. She wasn't going to take her scarf off for anyone, but she wasn't going back in the ball either- she'd have a nice nap here near the base and Tam's stuff. "Heh. Alright." The grunt smirked at her then smiled at Pygi and Lasi. "Y' two go have a bit of a fly 'round. Play." Granted permission, they didn't need to be told twice, and wheeled into the air, Pygi definitely faster, though the large bat seemed to have more precise control. They seemed elated to be in the air, though would soon be taking an interest in Pinkie.
Tambrey, then, looked around for whoever else was out here, walking casually toward where the she'd noted the pokeball flash.

The first thing Pinkie did after being set free was stretch out her legs and shake out her mane. The second thing she did was lightly headbutt her trainer's stomach and huff at him. She hadn't gotten the chance to scold him for what he had made her do in the Galactic ship and she was taking the opportunity to do so now.
Rory huffed at the slight blow and rubbed the Ponyta's head. "I know, I know," he muttered affectionately, "I'm sorry. Now go play."
At his instructions, the pink pokemon licked his hand and trotted off to see if she could find new friends.

"Discipline; Important part of trainin' y'r human." Tambrey greeted with a friendly smirk as she approached, watching Pinkie trot away. The grunt then turned to smile at Rory. "It's good t' see you out of the infirmary though, and out here. 'S nice day t' be 's well." She watched the skyline for a moment, where two flying types were descending, no doubt having spotted the pink fire type. "How are you feeling?"
The two had, indeed, spotted Pinkie and were eager to meet a new friend; especially a certain bat who was realising that Pinkie was, well, pink! The /best/ colour in his opinion, of course. He wheeled around and flew close with a grin, while Pygi landed a short distance away and chirped a friendly hello; her beak not really designed for 'polite smile', she somehow conveyed the expression as best she could anyway.

Rory laughed as Tambrey approached him. "She certainly seems to think so." He turned his attention from the pokemon to the fellow grunt.
"I feel alright, just a little sore here and there," Rory took another deep breath and let it out slowly, "I just couldn't stay inside anymore." After spending his childhood growing up on a small island and his teen years wandering the region, it was hard to be trapped inside sometimes.
Pinkie was trotting around and sniffing at the ground to see if she could find anything to nibble on besides sand when she noticed two shadows land next to her. She took in the two flying types and let out a small cry of hello to them both.

The bird and the bat were clearly 'young minded', though the 'older' of them (the bat) seemed a little more immature than the bird. They were both excited to be out of their pokeballs though and really seemed to want to play. Without introducing himself, the bat attempted to get a game of tag going by reaching out to trap and 'tap' Pinkie with his wing, before fluttering off. The bird, too, would take this as a sign of the game and flap herself in a different direction. They did, at least, seem to understand 'fairness' though, as they remained low enough for Pinkie to 'tag' them if she caught them.
Tambrey nodded. She certainly didn't like the few times she'd been stuck in a bed, though thankfully it had never been for weeks or months at a time. "Well you picked a good day t' be out here. 'S nice." She paused, then added "I hope the magazines helped, by the way. They'd have been more current but 've not had much chance t' leave the base since, y' know..."

The pink horse caught on quickly to what the two new pokemon were wanting to do. Not many of the pokemon she had met around here really wanted to play with her. She happily started chasing after the Golbat, attempting to n** lightly at its wing to 'tag' it.
Rory looked around. "Yeah," he pulled his sunglasses down over his eyes, "I love it when it's like this."
The magazines, he still needed to give those back to her. "Those were great, thank you. It was nice seeing what some of my old competition was up to."

The pokemon were delighted to have a playmate out here; even Palu was pleased to see them playing, though she kept a wary eye on them lest they got too close to her roosting spot. Lasi looked shocked that he'd been tagged, but was quickly grinning again as he flapped around to give chase. Pygi, meanwhile, swooped between the pair, taunting to distract the pursuer a bit.
"Y'r welcome. 'M goin' t' try and catch up when I next get into a town, so I'll let you borrow the next couple once I've read them too." She promised. "I know y'r not trapped in a bed anymore but, y'know, in case you were interested."

It was fun having new friends to run around with but all of the running left the poor pink horse exhausted. Pinkie watched the pair fly around and knelt down for just a moment to relax. She'd get back in the game in a minute.
Rory smiled, "Thanks. And I'll get the ones you loaned me back to you as soon as I can."

"No rush." Tambrey smiled back. "But thanks. So, uh... Was there anyone in them that you used t' know or met much?" She tried to sound more casual than she felt about it, but knowing someone who used to compete on the professional circuit was rather 'cool' in her book. Truthfully she wanted to know everything about everything he could tell about contests and the coordinators, but she contained herself well.
The two flying types chased each other for a moment or two, but were rather quick- or at least Pygi was- to notice that the Ponyta had stopped playing. Calling for a pause to the game, she and the bat flapped back to land near Pinkie, curious to make sure nothing was wrong.

Rory scratched lightly at the back of his neck. "There was a few of them that I knew. They were younger then, though. I went against a couple of them a time or two before."
He thought back to the people he had met during his contest days and the images he had seen of old friends and rivals in the magazines she had lent him. "It was kind of like here. You had your people that were nice, your people that didn't care one way or there other, and then you had some that were complete morons."
Pinkie watched as the two flying types landed next to where she had chosen to lay down. [Give me a minute and I can play again. I'm Pinkie, what's your names?]

Tambrey smirked. "Any 'morons' being particular stand-outs?" She could have been asking about the contest circuits or on base, though of course, more likely she meant the former.
The two flying types regarded the pony pokemon curiously and let little nods show they understood- though in Lasi's case his whole body tilted forward. <> The Pidgeotto spoke kindly, patiently and, though the bat nodded to agree, it was clear that he was slightly less patient about cutting the game short, though prepared to give the Ponyta as long as she needed to. << I'm Lasi!>> The bat announced, pleased to introduce himself to a new friend, and more pleased to have done it before the Pidgeotto, who didn't really seem to mind though. <> Pygi was 'bird-smiling' again.

Rory grinned widely at Tambrey's question. Figuring she could have meant both, he gave his answer, "Not too much here lately, but the guy on the cover of the, I think November issue. If I had a dollar for every fist fight that had to be broken up between us as teenagers...Well I wouldn't need to be here, that's for sure."
Pinkie attempted to smile as best she could. [It's great to meet you! Normally no one really wants to play with me.] She got back up onto her hooves and stretched. [Okay, who's it?]

"Really?" Tambrey remained smirking, eyebrows raising slightly. "He seems so... /pretty/. Wouldn't take him for a fighting type." <> The bat commented, then grinned when Pinkie asked who was 'it'. <> He declared and shot off along, flying close to the ground. <> The bird puffed her feathers and wriggled her wings. She was ready to chase.
