Cinaed floated downstream in boredom his red eyes narrowed as he thought of what he could do to pass the time. It was quiet times like these that brought back memories. Memories in which he did not want to think about especially ones that pertained to his father. A title which he did not even deserve as he had abandoned not only his mother but his three cubs too.
He shook his head without thinking and got water up his nose for the trouble. "Ack." He sprang up and snorted out a chuckle. "Wonderful job Cin so full of grace."

Further down stream where the water began to shallow out into reedy marsh lands a tall, dark figure waded quietly across the terrain. Strangely, this lion failed to make the usual sloshing steps clumsy land predators made when they hunted outside their comfort zone. Not that Strychnos was outside his comfort zone, he'd been hunting snakes since he was young. Ever since his mother had first given him a taste for their venom. Boy had that ever backfired on her.
Cht. Clucking his tongue at the memory the sound of something approaching from up river drew Stryc's attention. Head canting casually, expecting to see something ungainly and soaking wet. Perhaps some small animal that had fallen into the river, foolish things.

Cinaed could feel his fur getting soggy as he had been in the water for some time now. Moving towards the shore he slowly kicked his paws to move himself closer to the shore to lay and enjoy the sunshine. A strong breeze hit him in the face along with it the scent of male. His ears flattened for a moment as he scanned his surroundings. "s**t." He cursed hoping the male wasn't looking for a fight as he didn't feel like dealing with violence.
A loud boom startled him into looking over his shoulder. Funny how storms can sneak up on you when you were least expecting them. "Grrrreat." He took in the darkening clouds in the west and quickened his pace to leave the weather. Water and lightening do not mixture. Once on shore he shook himself to get rid of at least some of the water before wandering around to look for shelter.

Whatever it was that had been splashing around never did make it into the same vicinity as where Strychnos was hunting water serpents. He had half a mind to return back to his hunt for the black mamba he'd lost track of in the tall swamp grass when the shadow of some dark clouds overhead drew his pale gaze. Their near black hue was ominous at best, as was the bark of thunder that echoed from them. Stubbornly though, the brute returned to his search, lowering his muzzle as his head weaved through the greenery preventing him from getting a better view of the water where the weaving reptile was likely hiding.
Time would tell whether his brazen desire to defy nature would prove a worthy venture or a terrible tragedy.

The scent of the on coming storm totally wacked out his senses that he completely had forgotten the other male until his scent smacked him in the face. Looking forward he spotted the perfect place to hide a few miles ahead, but from what his nose was telling him Cin would have to head right for the other male. Do or don't.
CRACK. BOOM.
"Gah! Screw it I'm heading out this way." The sound behind him pushed him to go further towards the other possible threat. Nothing he hated worse was the sound of crackling thunder. Storms were not his thing at all. He started off at a fast walk but quickly turned into a run as the wind really started to pick up. "Almost home free." He panted "So close-" He was cutoff when suddenly his paws met air. "UGH." Luckily for him he had great reflexes and he landed on all four feet. Sighing in relief he moved forward or would have if it hadn't been for the other male infront of him. "..." He stared not knowing what to say.

Following the ripples created by a writhing tail as his prey skated over the surface of the water effortlessly, Strychnos followed the black mamba intently. Practically forgetting the storm as insane as that was with the rain and potential threat of lightning so close. Of course the neon flashed beast had never claimed to be the brightest feline on the continent. He was after all, hunting the most venomous snake in Africa with the intent to eat it.
Swatting at the creature to prevent it from escaping too quickly as it rolled off balance, the angry snake immediately reeled around. Hissing mad as it puffed and whipped backwards, black mouth for which it had been named and frightening fangs reared dangerously.
When Strychnos ran into the unfamiliar male, brightly colored like a distant brush fire in his undulating orange hues, the once potent snake was hanging limp from the lion's jaws. Looking as casual as if he didn't have a lethal reptile hanging from his mouth.

"Wha-Is...is that a snake!?" Cin said with widen eyes. Those things could be harmful if you didn't watch out. Thank the gods it appeared to be dead hanging like a limp noodle from the other males mouth. A crack of thunder interrupted him again so loud he felt his ears still ringing and caused him to look behind in horror. A tree sparked by lightening caught a flame and without the rain to stop it the flames were spreading fast. "Ah! I don't know about you but me I'm getting the hell outta here!"
Whirling around Cin tried to find the best area of escape staying in that cave he had found was mute now seeing as fire was all over the damn place. Phew. Over to the right was an area that appeared safe enough for escape from their boxed in area. " Follow if you want I'm heading towards the exit." He yelled inorder to be heard over the fierce wind.

Strychnos would have glanced at the snake in his mouth if he were able to, mildly perplexed by the question which he wasn't entirely sure pertained to him. Clearly he was carrying a snake. Despite himself the appropriately titled "Poison King" offered the stranger a silent nod. If the onslaught of deafening sound and the spark of fire that spread rapidly across the dry brush to nearly encircle them frightened the dark lion, he made no indication of it.
Rather, the other's jumpy nature made Stryc feel sorry for him. Ignoring the heat on his back as he followed behind the male that blended almost perfectly into the flames. As if he had sprung from it himself. Maybe that's why he was so nervous, he feared he might be pulled back into the inferno from which he'd been birthed. Not that he was a particularly superstitious sort.
And as much as he would have liked to avoid spending more time than was necessary with such an unpredictable beast it seemed like the only way out would be to follow. So follow Strychnos did, jogging at a leisurely pace behind the presumed rogue.

Man that lion behind him sure was taking his time considering the danger happening behin him and he peeked over his shoulder to see if the other was following or staying. The flames though fascinating as they were, were deadly and Cin did not particularly feel like dying at this point in time when he still had much to live for like putting down family roots or possibly joining a pride. Just as he was stepping forward a branch on fire fell infront of his path and he leaped over it with little affort.
They were almost to the exit when the rain finally decided to make its presence. " Phew." Red eyes closed in relief at the sounds of hissing surrounded him. The water was putting out the fire, so there wasn't too much damage. He turned to the other male who still had the snake in his mouth. "Well, later dude." There really wasn't much interaction to begin with and Cin felt somewhat silly saying bye but his mother raised him with manners so... he thought to atleast make her proud.

Leaping over the fallen branch with the effortlessness of a gazelle, Strychnos had to stop short when he nearly crashed into the one who had stopped short ahead of him. The heavy scent of rain filling the breeze that had thus far caused the fire to spread so rapidly, ending the ferocious attack upon the brittle lands in a single burst. A drenching sort of downpour that caused shadowy fur to become heavy with the sudden dampness. Apparently Mkodi was feeling merciful, enough so that their lives and the scorched land were spared today.
Glancing back at the charred mess left behind in the wake through the gossamer curtains of the current thunder showers Stryc didn't express much relief. Granted, he didn't express much of anything. Who had the time with so many events all occurring almost simultaneously?
Turning his gaze to the lion who addressed him, yet again. One he realized he didn't even know the name of, but didn't feel less fortunate for it, the snake eater decided to keep with the theme of the encounter. No need to go giving the stray any ideas that he wanted to talk now that he was so close to escaping the awkwardness. As silent as the first moment, despite the departing words, Stryc broke away to find shelter from the storm and an uninterrupted place to devour his mamba.
