Zafrina was on edge as she walked around the edges of the pride, picking her paws high in the air, with a visible look of distaste plastered all over her face. She hated all this mud, mostly because there was water mixed in with it, and less for it's filth quality. But this was her home, and as much as she disliked it, she had found a certain respect for it. For example - she had discovered that in SMALL doses, mud made a very calming facial mask. Perfect for a stressful time like right now. But, she wasn't in the mood for dirt - or well ... she was pretty stressed...
Taking a good long look in both directions, Zafrina picked a chunk of the mud up with her paw and pasted it softly across her face. The effect was instant, an oddly cool, yes bumpy and sticky concoction that seemed to melt her anger and irritations away. It was perfect, with one pretty important exception. She could no longer see!
Blinking her eyes, Zafrina realized a little too late that she should have a found a safe place before applying the now quick drying mask.
With an audible sigh, she zig zagged her way around, trying to feel her way back to the base of a tree. But all she could feel was the wet, cold, marsh beneath her feet.

Ammon had once more found himself lost in a sea of unfamiliar territory while on his quest to find his sister. It was of no surprise to him that this had happened since he had never really be 'on the right path'. About a month ago he had left his pride in search of his sister Nefertari, however, he had been unsuccessful in tracking her down. Despite his generally good luck he had never once caught onto her trail. The lion sighed as he came to a halt in the swampy lands he had further gotten himself lost on. It seemed like a horrible twist of fate.
Slowly he raised his head, an eyebrow going up at the same time as he heard what sounded like footsteps in the mud coming towards him. And then that was when he saw her. The lioness with a brownish pelt, green on her ankles and mud on her face. His eyes widened and he made a light gasp sound. For a moment he had thought she was some kind of swamp monster but then quickly realized she wasn't. Just a lioness with some mud on her face. He made an unaudiable chuckle before quietly bridging the gap between them. "Why are you walking around with mud on your face?" He asked, an eyebrow still raised. Then the lion sat himself right there in the mud and tilted his head at the odd female.
"Do you need help getting it off?" He asked, flicking his tail behind him.

Zafrina's body went stiff at the male's words. She hadn't even sensed him coming! She was getting rusty! An audible groan escaped from under the mud mask and she grumbled something odd to herself I"m not that old...." Her body still rigid from partial fear she tried to relax slightly, but soon found that all the tension the mask has helped to remove was now back. That didn't settle well with the lion and she broke down, tiny tears slipping from her cheeks and wetting the mud slightly as they fell. She had no idea who her strange visitor was, but with these waterworks she was confident he wouldn't be around much longer. "I can't do anything RIGHT!" She hissed, one of her claws swinging into the mud and flinging in the lion's general direction. A complete accident of course, but still, she'd find it quite funny when she realized it.
Still sniffling and tearing up, Zafrina could hear the lion's footsteps getting closer, and then she heard his comments. "Well I was trying to relieve my stress. But then some unexpected company brought it all back." She giggled lightly through sniffles, noting that her tears had finally cleared her eye sockets so that she could see.
"N-no i'm quite alright now. Thank you...." Tilting her head, she realized from the vision she had regained that this lion wasn't one of her pride members. For starter's his fur wasn't very equipped for the muddy atmosphere, and his coat while stunning was very unfamiliar as well. "S-Sorry I don't think i've ever seen you before." She said with one final sniff, using her tail to lightly wipe away one final lone tear.

She wasn't that old? Or at least she didn't appear to be old at all. Ammon looked a bit more confuzzled. And then he heard her hiss and watched as she began to cry. His ears pinned back and he literally shrunk where he sat. He let the mud she flung hit into him, though he had good time to close his eyes before it hit him. When he heard her stop crying he lifted inflated once more, but his ears were still pinned back against his head. "I'm sorry for making you cry." Even though he wasn't sure at all what he had done to cause such a thing to happen. Gently he moved one paw to his face and tried to rub the mud off but sadly was unsuccessful from removing it from his own eyes.
"Miss...." He put his paw back down and smiled awkwardly. "Could you help me? I can't get the mud out of my eyes." He wiggled a bit in his place, clearly he wasn't much better off then she had been. "I'm lost." Ammon fully admitted. He wasn't afraid to tell the truth. Maybe she could get him out of this bind and maybe she had seen his sister? It was worth a shot. "Where are we?" Ammon asked as he flicked his tail a few more times behind him.

"Oh, you're sweet." She commented, with a slight hint of a smile, "You don't have to worry, you didn't make me cry. I'm just a silly girl, I get like that sometimes!" A very faint hint of giggle escaped her lips as she looked up to study the male's next request.
"Oh dear, I didn't get it in your eyes did I?" Without a second thought, she closed the distance between the two and began to inspect the damage, "I guess i'm the one who should be apologizing!" She laughed again, this time a mix between nervousness and the idea of such a silly male. She had thrown mud at him, by accident of course, and he hadn't been offended by it. Instead he had been polite enough to request her help! "Here, let me dab it with a bit of water and it should come right off." Bending down, she scooped up a bit of water from a puddle near their feet and dabbed it lightly around his eyes. Sure enough - the mud began to fall right off.
"There! All done!" She proclaimed with a soft purr of accomplishment. She then stood there, listening to his final remarks, Oh, he was lost? A pang of sympathy washed over her and the emotion quickly became visible on her face. "Oh you poor thing, well let's see. You're in the swamps, if you'd gone a bit further you actually would have encountered my pride. We're just a mile or so in that direction." She nodded, her head to the south. "But obviously that isn't what you're looking for... so why don't you tell me where you're trying to go and I could help from there?"

Girl's cry for no reason? This thought baffled the lion. In all of his time with his sister before she had disappeared into the rogue lands he had never seen her cry without a reason. Maybe this lioness just had a lot to be sad about.
When she removed the mud from his eyes he opened them and blinked his orange eyes a few times. Now that she was up close, very close, he could see that her eyes were green. She certainly looked like she belonged in the swamp from her coloring. Had he not been a more intelligent lion he probably would have never seen her! Or, maybe if she hadn't been blinded by the mud herself.
Ammon tilted his head once more, this time he titled it to the right. His ear twitched. "You live here?" He asked before raising his head once more and puffing out his chest. "I am looking for my sister who has been lost in these non-pridal lands." He deflated a bit. "Her scent has been lost to me." The lion paused and then sighed heavily. "Not once in my month of searching have I encountered anyone who has seen or heard of her. Let alone found her scent." Ammon looked up at the lioness and then grinned widly before he further bridged the gap between them. His nose was now touching her's as she looked her straight in the eyes. "Are you a good tracker?" Ammon asked, blinking his orange eyes once again. More like batting.

"Yep! Well, I haven't always lived here, i'm a more recent recruit. But this is my home now!" She beamed proudly, allowing her chest to puff out a bit as she expressed her joy at her home. Her self-pride was soon shattered though, as his next words found her ears. So he was looking for someone? His sister. "Oh, I-I wish I could be the one to tell you I had seen her. But, I don't usually talk to other lions.." She faked a smile, and blushed furiously at his gorgeous golden orange eyes.
She didn't want to tell him no, he was so attractive and easy to talk to. If she told him she wasn't a good tracker, he'd likely just leave, and she didn't want that. She at least wanted to get a bit more time in with him. Even if it was just talk about his sister.
"Well, i'm not a bad tracker..." Zafrina allowed herself to trail off for a moment before she picked up again. "I've been hunting by myself since I was a cub, if I could track food at that age. I suppose that makes me at least decent. Wouldn't you think?" She inquired, throwing the male's trump card right back at him by batting her own lashes, and swishing her tail playfully.

Ammon grinned. "Home can be a new place. Or it can not be a place at all." He nodded his head, still grinning. He didn't notice her blush but he did catch onto her fake smile. His ears pinned back up against his head as he gently nuzzled her maw, hoping to ward away the bad mood he had caused, not at all realizing that what he was doing was probably very unwanted on her end. He stopped after a moment and looked into her green eyes with a smile reflected in his, once more hoping to chase off the bad mood.
Then he grinned once more, he was practically beaming from ear to ear. "I'm sure it does!" At that moment Ammon jumped a bit into the air as his whole body wiggled with pure joy. He probably looked very much like a cub who was getting his first chance to learn how to hunt from his parents. "Would you like to help me find her?!" Ammon asked as he shook his but from side to side before realizing that she was batting her very beautiful green eyes at him. He in turn blinked his orange eyes and gulped quietly. "You have beautiful eyes." He blurted out.

When the male began to nuzzle her maw lightly, Zafrina's eyes lit up with a strange mix of enjoyment and comfort. For a moment, she thought of returning the gesture, but she quickly dismissed it. He may not be entirely comfortable with a moody female all in his business. But then, why was he in her's? Not that she minded! He had a wonderful smell to him, and his coat felt very warm and inviting. When he pulled away though, a bit of sadness washed over her. She quickly hid the pain though, fearing that she was probably coming off as really weird.
As the male jumped back, she couldn't help but giggle at his reaction. He was truly excited about the whole idea of this wasn't he? How on Earth could she tell him no? She smiled with him, this time putting on a true smile, but quite taken aback by his request. Could she truly leave her pride behind and leave with this unknown male? Surely she would return, but what would her pride members think? After a moments thought, she realized she didn't quite care. This male wanted his sister back, and she could only imagine the pain he felt at not having her by his side.
"I...Yes, yes i'll help you find her!" The sheer excitement of the situation seemed contagious, and soon Zafrina was hoping around just as gleefully as he was. Which made his out of place comment, a little hard to concentrate on.
"Oh, t-thank you." A furious blush covered the lioness' fur and she could feel the warmth swallowing her whole. "Your eyes are really lovely as well. They remind me of the moon. So bright and golden, I bet you get lots of compliments on them..." She paused abruptly and realized she hadn't exchanged names with him yet. Which was odd considering she had just promised to travel with him. "I don't know your name..." She trailed off, completely lost in her own silly thoughts. How could she agree to follow him if she didn't even know his name?! Silly, silly idea, if she said so herself.

Ammon was behind joyful when she agreed to help him find his sister. He felt as if right in that moment he could have ate her whole out of pure joy. Even though that was probably a weird concept to think up but it felt right. He himself smiled and acted as though his smile could pass on his happiness to her in some form or another. Then her own comment caught him off guard. She thought his eyes were lovely? No one had ever said that to him before. He thought she must have just been returning the compliment but it made him feel a bit fuzzy in his chest nonetheless. Ammon was extremely awkward in most situations. And meeting females was nonetheless awkward, though, he seemed to encounter them a lot.
"You're the first." He told her truthfully with a look of twitterpation written on his maw. He couldn't believe that she had told him his eyes were lovely. While he was still convinced she had just been returning the compliment he couldn't help but give into the fuzzy feeling a bit. It was nice. "Oh!" Ammon's eyes widened. "My name is Ammon!" He said a bit louder then was necessary. "What is your name?" He gave her a sheepish smile. Obviously he had noticed how odd it was that they were going to be traveling partner's even though they didn't know each other's names. Let alone anything about each other.

"Really? Well, that is a surprise.." She whispered, still caught up in the mystical gold coloring of his eyes. She hardly snapped out of it as he introduced himself, it was a strange feeling. Sort of like, her gut was trying to tell her something. She was obviously too caught up in herself to listen to it.
"Ammon huh? I like it! Is it an exotic name? It sort of rolls off the tongue in a very strange way!" She smiled so wide her cheeks began to swell a bit, and her paws pranced lightly on the muddy surface beneath them. "I'm Zafrina - though at some point, my name is supposed to change. I just haven't discovered what it will be yet.." Her words faded slowly as she sidetracked her thought process into something entirely. Shaking her head, she returned to the here and now and fixated on the male before her once more. "It's a pleasure to meet you Ammon." Beneath her fur a warm blush began to rush over her body. She was just certain he could see the blush, but she really hoped he couldn't. "I-Is there anything else you would like to know about me? I guess that might be a good place to start if we'll be travelling together.." Returning her head to the ground she began to focus on her toes. Suddenly curious as to whether she had the right amount.
