Maswali released a relaxing sigh, as she stretched her lanky body along the length of a rock. She'd been looking for the perfect place to rest, and this rock ... well it had just called to her. In a very strange manner, it was as though the sun shining directly down upon it were a sign from above. A sign that she simply had to lie on that rock. And so she had, though not before carefully examining it for possible dangers. It had passed with flying colors, and now she was reaping the benefits. The sun shining down on her gorgeous coat, glinting streams of light off of it's glossy fur surface. She smiled as she lay there, completely oblivious to the rest of the world.
This was heaven! Lounging around without a care in the world! She was free to do what she pleased, and what she pleased was a nice ... blissful ... na -
- SNAP -
Maswali bolted to attention at the crack of the wood, there was an intruder nearby. Whether dangerous or harmless was unknown, and really didn't matter. It had to be perceived as one until she could be proven otherwise. Regretful to leave her comfortable spot, the female simply adjusting her position to a stiff sitting one. If anything was going to cross her path now - she would see it.

Stretching Rinji left his meditating position, it was the perfect day to center himself and relax. Rinji looked around with lowered lids as he brought himself back to the physical plane. Purring a little he thought about needed to be done or what he could do today. Tree climbing was always a fun way to pass sometime, it was also a great way to see all around from a birds eye view.
That idea in mind to stood and began to look for the nearest tree. "Ahh," He spotted the perfect one, it didn't look...too bad and without a second thought his claws sprang out. "One, two, three-" He growled and pounced. "Ha-ha~huh-" Eyes widening he took in the sound of a snap that seemed to echo. He looked down. "Aw man-" He got out right before he did a free fall and landed on the ground with an oof.

The large grounding thud didn't came for a bit, but it caught her attention all the same. She was completely alert, but in a different way. She no longer feared for herself, though she probably should. She was more curious over the sound. What could it have been? Why had it started with the snap of a branch? Was it close? So many questions, and she couldn't leave a single one of them unanswered.
Frazzled by her own jittery mind, Maswali pushed herself swiftly to her feet and allowed her ears to do the walking. She followed the echos of the branch for a few moments, before coming across a giant ball of dust settling on the ground. Confused, she stepped a tiny bit closer for a better inspection.
Oh, so it was a lion. No biggie. Maswali made it halfway through a shrug before jumping 2 feet in the air and skittering backwards. Her claws extended deep into the dirt, and her stance prepared to defend itself. "A-Announce yourself!" She squeaked, trying to sound somewhat demanding and strong. But obviously failing miserably.

Rinji looked around in a daze he did afterall have the wind knocked out of him. A lovely sound interrupted the fog in his mind. "He-" He peeped out a little before coughing to clear his throat. "Hello." He got up slowly to dust himself off with his tail before coming out of the brush. He stopped dead in his tracks. He saw a vision before him in the form of a female lion. The markings on her body were something like he had never seen before. "Sorry I didn't mean to um frighten you if I did. I was trying to-" He paused here. 'Wait I don't want to sound like a goof. I mean I did fall out of a tree afterall.' He blushed. "-climb this tree here when I stepped on a branch--my name is Rinji it's very nice to meet you."
He introduced himself right away hoping he wasn't scaring off the female before him. Rinji wanted to get to know her a little better. "Are you from around here?" He tried to make up some conversation.

As the male drug himself to his feet, and out of the cloud of dust surrounding him. Maswali became a little more comfortable with what she saw. He didn't seem threatening. Though she knew looks could be deceiving. But at the same time, he didn't really sound deceiving either... A perplexing situation.
One look down to the now clear ground, and Maswali's questions were all answered, before the male could explain them. He had been the cause of the fall, and by the looks of it, it had not been a good one. The though alone made her want to giggle, but she held it in. Knowing it would be quite rude to do such a thing in front of a stranger.
"It's OK! You didn't scare me, I was actually more curious about the noise than I was you!" Maswali blurted the words out, without much thought and immediately regretted them. "N-Not that I wasn't worried about you! That came out wrong, you probably shouldn't listen to me!" She could go on and on babbling about things that made no sense, but instead she stuffed her paws over her mouth and simply shrugged at the male. She listened as he introduced herself, and fearing she would be rude if she didn't return the favor she did, "MASWALI!" She quickly blurted out before covering her maw once more.
In answer to his final question she simply smile and shook her head. No, she wasn't from here at all. Simply stopping by to get some relaxation.

A slow sweet saucy smile grew on Rinji's face as he listened to the female talk. Boy is she adorable. He thought as she continued to babble. " Maswali," Rinji purred out tentatively trying not to butcher her name too badly. "Nice name I like it. I can`t say I`ve seen around here before." He began to calm down at bit in her presence, it was mostly females that got him all flustered at first meetings. There was something about this female, a hidden charm, something that said `forever` in a good way.
"Care to join me?" Rinji wandered closer gesturing with his paw towards the tree he was attempting to climb. "I say we choose a different tree. This one is obviously not ment for climbing. Or do you have other plans?" He hoped not now that he had her in his sights Rinji didn`t want her to get away for some other male to woo her with their charms.

At first, the male's strange change in tone spooked the female and she took a few steps back. Mostly for her own safety, she hadn't come out here today looking for trouble. But still there was something about him, that she couldn't place her paw on. He didn't seem dangerous in the slightest, though he was a bit strange. As he purred, she felt compelled to step closer, but she held back the urge. For the moment, allowing her instincts to take over. "Well that's probably because i've never been here. I was just ... stopping by. The allure of a sunny rock on a beautiful is almost to good to pass up." She smiled faintly, and tossed her head in the direction of the rock she had been lying on.
"Join you?" She was caught slightly off guard by his question, but as her brain caught up with her question, she realized how silly she'd been. "No, no other plans. But, please don't find me rude for this- but, I don't know you?" She ended the statement with a question, unsure of if she actually meant it as one. "It isn't that you look dangerous, but I come from a place that warns against the dangers of strangers.."

"Yeah, I see what you mean. This area does have some nice resting areas." Rinji looked to where she had gestured before continuing. "I think this area once belonged to rogue family before they moved on. Hmmm, yeah it did." He paused to listen to her continue. Huh, didn't think of that. Usually others he came across where those he knew or didn't seem too bothered with chatting with strangers. He cleared his throat sheepishly and pawed at the ground for a minute before looking up. "Oh, I do see your point there but we aren't strangers anymore as we know our names." He winked at his lame attempt at joking. " Besides if you live your life in fear who knows what you might miss out on?" He blinked. "Not that I'm insinuating anything I mean-um... Then again I suppose I never really learned that lesson of nothing talking to strangers well. I don't do well on my own, I enjoy others companies whether family or strangers alike."
Rinji gathered his weight, balance, and force as he made a leap for a tall branch. His muscles bunched as he cleared the branch and sat down on its thickeness. "I used to come to this area alot with my father to overlook the land. It really is a scene to behold." He looked down at Maswali with a shy smile the sunshine gave her this angelic glow. "What would you like to know about me?" He wanted to make her comfortable and this was the only way he knew how, by letting her get to know him.

Maswali giggled light heartedly at the male's flustered words. He was kind of cute when he was flustered, in a very innocent sort of way. She just couldn't help herself; despite having hid her smiling face behind her paw the noise was just a bit too noticeable. "You're sort of adorable when you get flustered." She smiled, lowering her paw, having given up on the idea of hiding herself.
Backing away slowly, she cleared the area for the male to attempt to clear the branch. She winced and pulled her face in the opposite direction fearing he would fall flat on his bottom again. She definitely wasn't one for pain, whether her own or someone else's. Holding her breath, she finally released it when she heard the branches give in under his weight. "I can only imagine it would look more stunning from a cub's eyes." She faintly mumbled, taking her attention more to the sights than to her current company.
She came back to her senses soon enough though, because she was highly intrigued by the male's offer. "Well, I don't know. How about you tell me the most interesting thing about you. Then if I find it fascinating, I might share something of my own." She slowly padded over to the trunk of the tree Rinji now sat in, and sat at it's trunk. Her tail swishing lightly, and a small purr slipping from her throat.

He laughed shyly at the compliment. "Thanks, usually I'm deemed a pain in the butt by my other siblings." His ears twitched as he took in her words and he supposed it would coming from a cubs perspective. "Soon the stars will come out and it will be even more amazing. I sometimes look at them and think of my mother. She's a goddess you know, it must be nice to be apart of something that grand." He didn't usually like to give away his mothers title as it made others antsy or act different towards him but he felt comfortable enough to mention it.
He was brought back down to earth when she hinted for him to talk about himself. "Well, that was one interesting fact." He flopped his head down to look at her upside down. "Here is two more: I have four other siblings and I believe in happily ever afters." He grinned goofily at the sound of her purring.

"Well, I would sum that up to nothing more than sibling rivalry!" She chuckled silently to herself, wondering exactly what it would be like to have had siblings. She'd never really known hers, having been split from them at birth. But it had always left a void in her heart to not know them.
Maswali thought about that, as she continued to listen to Rinji speak. At first she just listened, his words not really sinking in. But, by the time he mentioned that it was an interesting fact, it sank in. She really didn't know how to react to that type of information - she knew there were many different types of god's but she had never actually met one. From what she understood they were quite reclusive. "Don't you think it's cheating to dangle something that interesting over my head?" She smiled, lifting her head to look back at the male above her.
She shrugged it off however, feeling that perhaps it wasn't best to badger him on personal affairs. "Well, I guess those warrant some information from me. But I warn you, I won't be able to top you." Purring a bit more loudly, she racked her brain for information to share, but came up empty. "Hmmm let's see. Well, I enjoy puzzles and mysteries. A whole, whole bunch!" And I too believe in happy endings. She blushed slightly as she continued to look up. "Though, I also believe that you won't find your happy ending until the gods think you're ready."

A slow saucy grin spread across his face when she spoke his mother. "Well you said you wanted something interesting." He laughed whole heartedly before listening to her speak. He enjoyed a good riddle as well as an adventure. Sometimes a lion need a little action in their lives to make it worth while. "It looks like we have sort of the same likes when it comes down to it. As my mother says, 'There is a time and place for everything. Sometimes all it takes in a simple meeting to changes ones life.' And I tend to agree with her." He was content for the first time in a long time and it felt great to sit here with Maswali while the sun went down. The stars were starting to pop up and the chirping of bugs were singing their nightly tune.
Who knew what the future held for him but he sincerely hoped he would be seeing more of this female. He did believe afterall in fate.
END.
