Kinect Support Coming to Skyrim

Fully knowing that you can’t get enough of your favorite dragon shouts, we’re pleased to announce that Kinect for Xbox 360 support is coming to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Available for free as a title update slated for release this month, Skyrim Kinect for Xbox 360 Support will feature more than 200 Voice Commands… including the game’s dragon shouts.

In addition to Dragon Shouts, the Kinect for Xbox 360 integration offers voice commands throughout the game including Hotkey Equipping, Follower Commands, and all Menus (Items, Magic, Map, Barter, Container, Favorites, and Skills). With Voice Commands, quickly create and load saves during gameplay and access menus and inventories. Skyrim’s Kinect for Xbox 360 Support also adds new functionality including special map functions, additional hotkey options, and the ability to sort inventory items by name, weight, and value.

To get an early look at Kinect for Xbox 360 support, watch the video above featuring programmer Ricardo Gonzalez, who put together the preliminary concept for Kinect for Xbox 360 Support during the Skyrim Game Jam.

A full list of Voice Commands will be revealed in the coming weeks, and we’ve got more Skyrim news coming. Bethesda Game Studios has been hard at work on creating the first set of game add-ons that will be exclusive to the Xbox 360. This additional content will add new quests, locations, features, and much more to the world of Skyrim. Stay tuned for more details.

"I may actually get the Kinect out to give this a try.
My poor, poor neglected Kinect(I'm sorry, I prefer the Wii and it's remote.. and the Wii actually has decent games).
Though... I think it won't understand me majority of the time(mix of accent and the fact that I talk too fast).
But I'll give it a try anyway, even if just for the quick save.
And maybe for the quick(er) equipping, I still hated that I still had to pull up a menu for my favorites.
It'll be difficult to get into the habit of speaking instead though.

As another note, I'd probably fail at pronouncing the dragon shouts.

I don't have a Kinect, but this would very much encourage me to get one. I talk fast as well, not too much of an accent that would throw it off. Faster equipping sounds very nice, even with the favorites tab, that thing can get pretty full and sorta defeats the purpose of a quick favorites.

The only shout that I know by heart and can actually say without any trouble is FUS RO DAH! I'd have to practice a bit to remember and pronounce all the others. XD

"I was never really interested in the Kinect, but gifts are gifts.
And yeah, especially as a mage, all the different spells.
Maybe it's because I thought all my spells would be useful at some point...
But I mostly just used summons, healing and Candlelight.

I think that's the one most have perfected, but hearing some of the others..
I'm going to tongue tie myself.
Put it this way... the past few days I keep accidently say Fort Dwarfness.

Oh I didn't want to touch the Kinect with a 10 foot pole. I think the whole motion controller craze is nothing more than a fad, like 3D movies. People will wish up and see the light and pass on them.

I would have loved it if we could have used our headset's that come with console as a means to use verbal shouts and other things.

LOL that's funny. Fort Dwarness = FUS RO DAH?

"My mother uses the Kinect the most, for all her dance games so I suppose one person enjoys it atleast.
I only like the Wii because it doesn't make you feel like an idiot.
And don't get me started on 3D movies, urgh.

Yeah, though I have a problem with headsets... I have a tiny head, something I'm reminded of everytime I try to wear headphones or a headset.
Seriously.
My siblings didn't believe me, until we got Dead Island and were using headsets to communicate from different rooms in the house and for the life of me, I could not get the ear piece to sit on my ear.

Actually, supposed to be Dwarf Fortess.

Kill it. Kill it with fire. And burn at the stake any and all Bethesda employees who thought wasting time on this bullshit was more important than giving us a damn expansion pack. And damn them to hell if I have to download this festering pile of Chorus crap to play said future expansions.

Personally, this has me incredibly excited. I'm hoping that a headset will suffice due to an extreme lack of funds, but I'm pretty sure it's not going to do anything (since it's not a Kinect).

Still, once we can afford to get one, I'm looking forward to using several of the shouts- now that I have access to dragon souls, the most common one I've been using has been Wuld. Oh, how I love that quick and extreme burst of speed...
