The Stadium:

There is a small stadium for young War Horsemen set up away from the larger training fields, several circles set out for pairs to spar against each other in. A rather rugged looking female stands, dark skinned, light haired, covered in scars and warpaint, her hair unevenly cut in the back to a short length and ridiculously long and braided in the front, wrapped around itself, several feathers tucked into both it and the dark stained fabric, bones from several different types of creatures weaved into jewelry she wears, her wings colored like a golden eagle. On one arm, she has several slashes of paint – what looks like hundreds, trailing down it. After staring too long she finally speaks up:

“There is one for each battle I have won.” She said simply, shifting the pole she held to her other hand before turning to show her other arm, which is spotted with paint of a different color – and much more numerous. “I have one for each battle I have lost as well. To become a true warrior, you must climb your way to the top from the very bottom, and the best place to start is practicing against those who may just be better than you.” She explained, before motioning to one of the circles and an individual that was practicing on their own.

“Go join them.” She says, “If you think you’re ready. If you win, you will be paired up with the winner of another spar. So on, and so forth. After five victories, a break will be allowed for the day.” She says, the only explanation she gives as she hands off a small staff.

Mechanics

There are 5 rounds

Roll 2d8 each post
First dice is how hard you hit
Second dice is how hard the opponent hit
You want to roll higher than your NPC opponent.
If you roll a tie roll a tiebreaker between them (same as the above)

If you lose a match any matches you roll -for fun- afterwards cannot be counted towards points, but you can keep rolling spars!

Please fill in each of your posts with a small summary of how your spar went! It could be more than one hit, despite having only rolled one! Have fun with it!

Sparring?

Without her Fear?

Well, this was going to be terribly unfun. Still, Serafina was up for it in the name of the Isles of War, or whatever she was supposed to be fighting in the name of. She wound her arms round and round, bent her head from side to side as if cracking her neck, and once she considered herself loosened up, she headed inside, ready to prove that she was perfectly capable of managing without arms of scissors to back her up.

The first horsewoman she faced looked like she had already seen some battle, or perhaps Serafina thought they had all seen some battle already. Well. It was time to brace herself. Forward, she lunged, hoping for the best strike.

Of course, she soon discovered, supposedly "battle-hardened" did not mean anything about ability level. Serafina's victory was almost astoundingly easy, but perhaps, the other ghoul had been making it too easy. When she lunged forward, she saw a weakness in her legs and immediately went for them, bringing the horsewoman down to her knees, where it was fairly easy to take care of her from there.

Ha! Time for the next round, then!

Confidence bolstered by what was a much less embarrassing round than her classes were, Serafina was eager to move forward and begin her next spar, leaning forward and rubbing her hands together as she faced the winner of another match. This one didn't look as obviously tough, but something told her she should know better than to judge a book by its cover.

But perhaps she didn't. She spent half her time covering up her own book's cover.

Still, she was ready for war--wasn't she funny?--and got ready to win this match in a similar manner to her last.

Similar manner was perhaps asking too much, and this particular spar lasted much longer, Serafina actually finding herself having to dodge and roll with a few punches. However, it was certainly not impossible. Serafina found an opening which she nearly abused, sinking right for it to throw the horsewoman off guard--and it had worked, successfully, granting the ghoul's growing confidence another boost as she got ready to move on to round three.

Confidence was sometimes a bad thing to have, but it seemed to be working for this newcomer to the sparring ring, pleased to find herself already in the third round. That meant she had made it halfway through, right? These horsewomen had nothing on her. She was making mockeries of them! Embarrassments! Things to gossip about around ... whatever they used as a gathering place in these trees. Roosts?

Whatever.

She watched the movements of the next competitor carefully, waiting for her perfect opportunity and bring her down, just like she had to the other two that had so easily fallen to her feet. (And how easily she had forgotten her last spar had not been that easy!)

How easily she forgot indeed.

In the third around, her confidence must have gotten the best of her, the extra strut in her movements causing a rather dramatic whump against the ground, nearly knocking the wind out of the ghoul, as the horsewoman knocked her right over. Ow...

...Ow...

Okay, confidence?

... Bad.

...Ow...

Serafina all but limped out of the stadium.

BONUS NON-MANDATORY TASK

When you return to the class area, Radha frowns at you thoughtfully. "You do not look as if you are comfortable with your mount. Have you ridden before?" She listens to your answer, considering before slowly nodding. "Even if you are familiar, practice would not be amiss. And if you are not... then now is a good time to learn."

Radha demonstrates the basics, borrowing your mount and showing you how to make it walk forward, stop, turn, and run. They are the basic commands, but that is really all you need.

And then it becomes your turn.

BONUS TASK

This is an optional bonus task that will not earn you any horseman points.

You need to demonstrate the basics of using a mount. Please do these in a separate thread.

Hey! Listen!
- Roll 1d4. Even, your mount listens to you. Odd, it does not.

Forward:
- Roll 1d4. Even, it moves forward. Odd, it does nothing.

STOP:
- Roll 1d4. Even, it keeps moving. Odd, it stops.

Turning:
- In order to demonstrate your ability to turn, your mount will need to turn one full circle. Pick even or odd. Try to roll what you called twice in a row.
- Upon accomplishing that, call even or odd again. Then roll what you called twice in a row again.

Upon completing this bonus RP, you may now RP your mount anywhere within the War clan. Except in RPs that takes place in trees, because that is rather silly and the mounts are too big to fit in the elevators. This isn't Thunder Bluff.

So she needed to train her dragon.

This dragon seemed to be a rather submissive type, so when Radha had offered her this task, Serafina took it almost too enthusiastically. Perhaps she could surprise the woman by completely dominating over this dragon she managed to come into possession of.

Carefully, she cupped her hands around her mouth.

"Hey!" She spoke louder. "Listen!"

That was easy enough. Serafina grinned as the dragon's head flicked towards her, and she nodded. Now it was time for her next task... Get it to move forward, eh? That would be easy enough.

Carefully, Serafina cleared her throat.

"Forward!" ordered the ghoul, gesturing for the dragon to come closer.

...What?

Was she not speaking English?

Annoying dragon. It had submitted so easily before! Very well, she would just ... give it another go, she supposed...

Very well, she would just do it again.

"Forward!" ordered Serafina again, this time, creating, or trying to summon, that so called shield of Fear Armor that had made the dragon submit so easily earlier in the day.

That appeared to be a success. Serafina's lips twitched under her surgical mask as the dragon began to move towards her,her eyes dancing.

And now it was time to get the dragon to stop moving.

Easily channeling that Shield of Fear Armor once again (the SFA? That might be a better thing to start calling it) Serafina barked a, "Stop!"

And it didn't.

Stupid dragon, she didn't want a hug or something...

The dragon was going to bowl her over!

"I said stop!" Why was this not working this time?!

Finally!

Maybe the Jackdamned dragon was just deaf, but it hadn't stopped until it was nearly on top of her. Well. At least it had stopped. Victorious, she put her hands on her hips, before backing up a bit. Now for the last step... and then she was free to go with a trained dragon. Wait until she told her classmates back at home about this...

((Calling odd!))

Alright, now to get the thing to turn, right? She lifted her finger, swirling it in the air clockwise. Simply, she said, "Turn."

Instead, it stared at her.

Jackdamnit.

Her voice was a bit darker this time, slipping through the surgical mask in a way that just spoke of how she was trying to intimidate.

"Turn."

Lazyass dragon.

"Turn."

She snorted as the dragon finally seemed to listen to her, turning itself around clockwise as she had directed. Finally. Stupid dragon. Well. It wasn't stupid. Calling it stupid would not get the dragon to listen to her properly. Maybe if she stared at it more, though, she could get it to just turn the other way right away next time so she could go home.

Well.

Not really home.

The barracks. Ew.

((Calling odd!))

She turned her finger again, this time counter-clockwise.

"Turn."
