The classroom itself would seem familiar to some students: the largest temple within the Isle of Death, the Temple of Guidance. Upon stepping into the marbled floor however, the temple seemed distinctly devoid of any other guests other than students. The large pyre still burned in the center, flickering with a steady blue flame.

The smell was calm, and peaceful, strong enough to create a lingering lasting effect on the students as the room seemed to quaver and spin just a little, as the floor seemed to give away slightly underneath them. It was too easy now for students to close their eyes.

Everything was fading to white now, slightly condensed and fog-ridden, the entire temple around them shifting and melding in form, into a simple blurred white. As the landscape changed to simple white, a figure appeared, standing in front of three ornate doorways behind them, dressed in robed purples.

She bowed, politely. "Welcome to our class, the class of Guidance, and of Trance, I am the head priestess of the Clan of Death, Medea. Before I speak any further of this class, I speak more for yourselves. As students you are still young and unguided, your Fear for the most part undecided. In the Clan of Death the young ones undergo a ritual, a ceremony to discover themselves, which I am here to share with you."

Her robes jingled, just slightly, tone amused. "Now, this may be a little too difficult to process for you quite yet. Questions are only second place to answers, which you shall experience, learn, and find."

Medea gestured behind her, towards three doors. Had they always been there or had she simply created them with that simple gesture of her hand? "Guidance can be found in steps, in stages, a story. Let us start at the very beginning then, if you will walk with me now towards the door."

Slowly, the most ornate of the three doors, the one on the very left, opened. And seconds later, the whites, the nothingness pulsated and immediately flickered to life, in brilliant blue sky and rolling green hills.

The students stood in a shallow valley, filled left and right with weapons, long spears and broken shields. The ground was cracked, parched, the only dissonance in the lush green landscape. It was warm, almost too warm, and as the students looked at themselves, they would see that they were only dressed in very simple robes, beiges, light greys and tans.

"- Despite the backup, we are still losing ground." The voice came from behind the trainees, a centaur in his full form pacing the ground, two figures next to him, one of them tall, stoic, dressed in gold plated armour and a white cape, the other a delicate figure with long braided hair wearing a simple white robe. The three of them were turned away from the students. More of the background begin to fill in, the shouts of other creatures, perhaps those of the Four Clans, or even those of Halloween, as they prepared armour, weapons, supplies, moving back and forth. There was something different about them however, more simple, plain. None of them wore anything resembling modern Halloween clothing, some of them ran around in their natural forms. A large temple loomed in the background, though several figures could be seen walking and flying towards and away from it. At best, the scene was chaotic.

"The next human base is only half a day away," Reasoned the armoured figure, polishing his bronze sword, "I will take a group with me to apprehend the base, stop the humans before they reach us. We will stop them before they reach us here, Chiron."

The centaur nodded, stomping one foot on the ground. "You have my blessings Theseus, may the grace of Athena be with you." He parted from the other two, disregarding the students entirely.

Theseus paused for a second as he finally noticed the group of students simply standing there. He raised an eyebrow, turning towards the other. "New recruits?"

In return, the other did not seem quite as surprised, a small smile playing on her expression, as if acknowledging a hidden joke. "It is possible. Though now is not the time to question, may I suggest that we give them a responsibility instead, master?"

"So be it then." The taller of the two pointed towards the wall of half-broken weapons. "Find yourself something suitable for battle, equip yourself as you can, we are heading out as soon as I find my troops. Our plan is to ambush the humans at the base close to their water supply before they reach us, their rebellion against us is simply too costly if we continue this any further."

A few minutes later, another figure approached, saluting Theseus. "Our warriors are ready to move."

"Good." Theseus grimaced. "Let's make these humans remember what it is like to fear us."

He signaled for all the students to follow, pacing ahead to catch up with the more experienced warriors near the front as they proceeded down the long dirt path. The other however, the robed figure simply walked slowly, carrying only a small dagger. She gazed time to time at the students with interest, though she spoke not a single word during the trek.

The walk was short, brief: they had stopped at the edge of a shallow cliff. Right below them was hundreds of their opponents. Humans. Humans armed and equipped with sharp weapons and thick armour, humans protecting a small fortress that held only their own kind. The torches surrounding their base flickered menacingly, the smoke overpowering.

It was unclear who initiated the attack, but the next moment, there was a series of shouts, clashes, and then-

- Chaos everywhere. Swords flying, steel glinting in the firelight, creatures shouting, shrieking viciously as the weapons from the humans tore into them, forcefully dissipating them and for those unlucky, injuring them beyond the point of escape. For humans, these soldiers were relentless, moving in organized waves as they attacked. The students were easily outnumbered.

THE BATTLE:

- With the weapon you have chosen, it is time for you to write a reaction and post to what happened above! Your student is now engaged in what seemed like a battle between Halloween/ Four Clans creatures and Humans out of all things! These humans however, are all garbed strangely, in simple copper armour and robes, an odd form of dress!

gaia_crown [ STEP 1:] post a reaction post to the above rp prompt. Feel free to interact with other students if given the chance, otherwise please move on to step 2.

gaia_crown [ STEP 2:] Roll a 100-sided dice and match your dice roll to the results below. YOU MUST RP OUT WHATEVER YOU ROLL UNTIL YOU ARE SLAIN/ KILLED. If you roll more than 5 times, you can automatically assume that you were killed (move to auto-kill).

1-20: You see several humans brandishing their weapons at you: they sting and hurt you badly, and you limp, trying to regain your composure
21-40: You manage to take out several humans, but anger an extremely fierce opponent. They rush at you, mounted on a steed. You manage finally to take them out, but not before their steed tramples you to the ground - YOU ARE DEAD (move to step 3)
41- 60: Whether by sheer fluke or luck, you manage to kill your first human, their Fear as they die, staring into your eyes empowers you, making you feel stronger.
61 - 80: You feel yourself tired, overwhelmed by the barrage of attacks, ready to dissipate at any second when you hear a voice, a soft singing. You feel recovered now, replenished, able to go on again as you immerse yourself into the battle.
81-100: Just as you think it is over, an ally shouts, distracting your opponent. You look up just in time to watch your opponent's head get clawed off violently.

gaia_crown [ STEP 3:] Rp out your final death/reaction post to death as you dissipate. Please now stop posting/rping until tomorrow's classroom post thank you!

Faustus found it strange when the room began to waver. Was this a trick of the eyes, or some sort of intoxicating hallucination?? ... Either way, it was clear the Clan of Death were a mysterious bunch.

It became all the more mysterious when one of the strange doors was opened, and the entire group found themselves suddenly, in what Faustus thought, to be a strange reenactment of the past. He stroked his chin for a moment, shockingly feeling the traces of stubble. But his thoughts quickly skimmed back, across the FEAR-filled cavern deep beneath the Conquest Clan. The symbols and drawings across the walls of the staircase down; weren't they similar to the scenery and clothing he now stood in?? ...

They were issued weapons a moment later. He sorted through some of the metal graveyard nearby, coming up with a pair of rather plain iron daggers. Thus armed, the demon hurried to Olivia's side and huddled with his fellow students to listen as the commander gave their orders.

It wasn't long however, they were set upon by what Faustus could only describe as humans. He had never been to the human world, barely knew about humans themselves, and he suddenly wondered if this world he now stood in was the Clan lands, or possibly even Earth itself?? ... His thoughts were interrupted however as the stout human soldiers drove through the Halloween army, coming ever closer to where he stood.

Summoning his courage Faustus dove forward, managing to slash and kill several humans. For some reason, this didn't seem to bother him, though he wasn't entirely sure why ...

Ahead, a figure turned, a high ranking soldier on a rather tall horse. His dark, glinting eyes stared down to the young demon before he gave his steed a good kick, charging right for Faustus.

Faustus gasped as he was struck to the ground. One blade scattered somewhere amid the battlefield. Iron hooves trampled against his chest, applying pressure, trailing long gashes that burst almost instantly into flame. The demon's breath caught, and he could feel himself beginning to dissipate, his form breaking into wisps that melted away. Desperately he drew what remained of his arm up, launching his remaining blade straight for the mounted soldier's heart, a single dizzying moment before everything faded to black around him ... his only thought:

... Why me?? ...

The smell from the incense hit Xiu the moment she stepped into the temple. It was not an unpleasant smell--not by any means--but there was something about it...something about it that made her feel so peaceful. What was going on? Her tail swished lazily behind her as she was vaguely aware of the sudden heaviness in her eyes. Maybe she would just...

--ah? Blinking rapidly, Xiu took in the sudden shift in setting, her gaze sweeping over the three doors before it settled on the figure. She focused her full attention on the priestess, her tapir-shaped ears pricking up slightly. The class of...Guidance and of Trance? This sounded quite interesting indeed! What would they be learning today?

She supposed that they were about to find out. After casting a glance towards the other students and doing a quick sweep for any familiar faces, she moved to follow Medea through the first door.

It was amazing, and far too fast for Xiu to full process what had just happened. One minute, they were walking in white emptiness, and the next, Xiu blinked and found herself standing in a valley. Her eyes were wide as she took in the vibrant blues and greens of the landscape that had seemingly formed from out of nowhere. When she lifted a hand to brush back a stray lock of hair behind her ear, she realized with a start that her attire had changed as well.

And of course, there were the weapons. They were impossible to miss, though Xiu couldn't help but wonder why there were so many scattered about here.

She didn't have time to dwell on this long when she heard a voice speak from behind. Turning around, she stared at the centaur with raised brows, head cocked to the side as she listened to him speak. Something about backup, and humans, and--was the background changing? There were people running back and forth whilst carrying various weapons and armour in their arms. It reminded her of an...an army camp, or something. Were these people going to battle?

She soon realized that the answer to that question was yes, but it didn't just stop there. It was not just these people who were going to fight...but they would be joining them. They, as in the students. The baku's expression was blank when they were ordered to equip themselves, her face suddenly growing pale at the mention of ambushing the humans. Wait a minute, w-what were they...? And what was this about...a rebellion?

As other students flooded forward to find and claim weapons, Xiu followed quietly, her expression unreadable as she stared at the metal weapons that sat in front of her. She was not particularly well-versed in using any weapons--bakus were not much of fighters--but at the same time, the shield looked a bit too hefty for her to carry efficiently. In the end--after hoping that she would somehow manage to figure out how to use them--the baku picked up the chains.

When Theseus' order came, Xiu obediently followed after him and the rest of the students, though the look in her eyes was uncertain. She slowed slightly, her gaze sweeping over the crowd as she searched for Shun among her classmates. Were they really going to go and fight the humans? Though she was certain (or at least, pretty certain) that this scene was merely set up for this class and that they were not, by any means, fighting a real battle...

...Well, considering what had happened at the Haunted House just a few days prior to this student exchange, one could not be surprised that the baku was so hesitant to take part in this fight.

But that could not be helped. The moment the armored humans came into view, Xiu took a deep breath and steeled herself.

At first, Shehk hadn't been sure what to make of the temple they had walked into, almost flinching away from the floors themselves. They were near immaculate, carefully tended to. They were simply.... perfect, to say the least. She hadn't been sure what to make of them. Perhaps it had been the echo of her own feet that had made her nervous as she walked along.

For such a large temple it was increasingly empty, to say the least.

However, at the center of the room was a very nice smelling pyre and the Pricolici found herself sitting next to it, taking a deep breath of the scent it made. It was so pleasant. Soothing.....

Foggy....

This would have made Jericho nervous. she thought to herself about the fog and how white everything was turning, yet she couldn't find it in herself to be bothered. Then again, she was partially fog herself. She liked fog well enough.

However, the landscape wasn't without some company, Shehk looking at the figure in purple curiously, bowing back when the woman did, even before introductions. Medea? Head Priestess?

She was lovely, really.

So lovely.......

However, as she spoke of their futures she found a dull questioning coming in the back of her head. Questioning she had to swallow because she was going to have to at Medea's guidance.

As the priestess moved through the first of her three doors, Shehk followed after, curiosity hard to contain as she did so. The landscape on the other side of it was curious and she found herself looking at everything questioningly. Spears..mountains... the temple.. her clothing...

A centaur.

It was a lot for the Pricolici to take in as she watched everything seeming to happen all around them, a mass of chaos and confusion. She tried to pick up every word that was being passed around, trying to figure out what was happening. Battle. This was battle.

What kind of battle?

They were going to be squashing a rebellion, it sounded, according to the words of 'Theseus'. That was kind of a nice name, it rolled off of her tongue - her mental tongue, anyways, as she did not say it out loud.

A weapon. They could have chosen a weapon. However, Shehk had no use for a weapon. She was a beast - she had fangs. They were the only weapon she truly needed. She was always ready in that sense, trailing along after Medea and Theseus as they were lead further along towards what seemed to be the frontline of an invasion - and a cliff.

From the cliff she looked down into what looked like a fray of humans. So many humans. So organized. They moved to defend themselves and to an extent she could understand. And yet, there was something about the thought of that which angered her.

The humans moved easily to come and attack them, and Shehk discovered she wasn't quite as ready as she would have liked to have been outnumbered by humans...

While this was not the first time Xiu found herself on a battlefield, it was certain the first time she had had to fight against humans who were donning armor. This was not to mention the fact that the sheer number of them was far greater than anything she had ever had to deal with, not to mention the fact that she had a weapon that she was unfamiliar with in her hands.

...In hindsight, perhaps it would have been best if she went with something simple. Like a sword, or the daggers. Too late for that now, though--when one of the humans came charging her way, the baku moved instictively, whipping the chain out as hard as she could. Feeling it wrap itself around her opponent's legs, she gave it a sharp yank, feeling a little sense of satisfaction when the man fell down with a heavy thud. She loosed her chains and reeled it in, turning away when one of the other soldiers--one of the horsemen, from the looks of it--finish her opponent off for her.

Jack. W-well, it was...better this way, she supposed. She could find ways to disarm and immobilize their opponents, while the others did the actual killing. That worked, right?

She certain hoped so, at least. Being surrounded by people from both sides fighting amongst each other, it was hard for Xiu to pick out targets, but she did what she could. If it looked as if one of her classmates found themselves in a tight spot, she would swing her chain out (which would sometimes take her half a dozen times until she didn't miss) to incapacitate the human. Someone would...take care of the human, Xiu would pull her chains back, and rinse and repeat.

She worked through this with a kind of grimness, her lips pressed into a thin line as she whipped her weapon out around the mounted humans, pulling them off from their horses. Even if this was only an illusionary world, she was still not feeling particularly pleased at this task, but...not only was this a class, but she felt that it may have been going against the "respect the clans' traditions and culture" rule if she refused to take part.

The baku had been doing a decent job, but the disadvantage of her chosen weapon proved obvious when she yanked yet another human off from their mount. With her chains wrapped around the human, she had no way of defending herself when the freed mount suddenly charged at her.

Seeing what was clearly about to happen, Xiu dropped her weapon and braced herself for the impact.

She had to move to transform. Shehk's joints made no noise as they shifted and realigned to plant the pricolici and four paws rather than two feet before she moved to throw herself into the battle - it wasn't her battle, but it was a battle.

No, that was a lie.

It was her battle as well. She needed to fight this and she wasn't exactly sure why that was. Was it because humans had angered her in the past? But she didn't even know these ones. Were they hunters?

Were they something else?

She didn't know, but even as she moved through the numbers of humans, her paws could only avoid so much attack when a spear caught one of her legs, swiping it out from underneath her all of a sudden. Shehk suddenly tumbled to the ground, rolling in the dirt before the human came to finish their job, poised over her with a spear in their hand.

Shehk flinched, waiting for the end to come too quickly when someone shouted; "VOI!"

...Jericho?

Shehk looked away for a moment, but when she looked back something came by and with giant claws took her assaulter's head clean off. The smell of the blood nearly had her frenzied to begin with. Blood. Blood. Blood. Blood. She couldn't help but lick at that, illusion or not.

It....

It was an illusion, right?

The taste of blood in her mouth got an almost addict-like reaction from Shehk who began to twitch a bit before she suddenly lunged onto one of the humans, her teeth immediately seeking out their neck. Blood, she wanted more of it. She'd given herself a taste and that deep hunger that the scent of the human had given her the first time had come over her in a rush.

For a moment after they'd gone down, she sat there, chewing on the man's windpipe and licking the blood off of her teeth, licking the blood off of the dirt. As she did so, another human aimed a swift kick at her fact, but she retracted away from them, snarling before she suddenly turned her attention onto them, clawing at their face and sinking her teeth into their nose, their shoulder, their windpipe. She held her jaws firmly, shaking her head back and forth.

It was like hunting very large squirrels, only this tasted so much better.

They tasted so alive.

So fresh.

Even as she sat there chewing on the tender meat of her second kill - what seemed to be a young boy, she heard a cry from over her shoulder - some human male, yelling about a brother. She looked up towards them briefly as the horse came charging towards her. At first, it almost seemed like a joke to put an ungulate up against her - a running ungulate. She could kill that! She snapped as the horse's legs, causing the passenger to be thrown off by the surprised mount.

The surprised horse began to kick and buck about in retaliation as Shehk moved to bite out the throat of this new human.

SMASH

A hoof caught her in the side of the head and Shehk jerked to the side, shaken by this, snapping at the horse some more before she finally moved on the human, snarling as the pair began to wrestle with one another. However, the horse still thrashed about even as the Pricolici sunk her jaws into a very thick and delicious vein in the rider's neck.

Unfortunately, she didn't move before the horse's hooves came down upon her ribs.

Truth be told, this was probably one of the odder deaths that Xiu had experienced. She had died by fire, by being shot, by being pierced through with an icicle, and now...

Being stomped to death by a horse was not, by any means, the most elegant way to go. It was not the most painless or fastest way to go either--in fact, of all of her deaths so far, Xiu had to rank this particular one at the very top. Being able to, not only feel, but hear the crunch of your bones as you're being stomped to death...

...Well, no one in their right mind would categorize that under any level of fun. Unfortunately, that was nothing Xiu could do--as much as she struggled, she found that she could not roll free from where she was beneath the horse's hooves, and with each crack and sharp jolt of pain, she found that struggling wasn't even an option anymore. It hurt too much to move.

So she simply lay there and shut her eyes, trying to focus on something--anything else as she began to dissipate. Maybe she should have paid more attention to that meditating suff earlier.

CRUNCH

Shehk yelped, teeth suddenly pulling from the neck of the human as she felt something in her body snap. She went down, growling before she moved to get up. However, the horse had her right where it wanted her, and it stomped again.

SNAP

It was painful, actually, and she felt like something had ruptured. Something had broken and was bleeding inside of her - perhaps it was all of that blood she'd been eating. All of it so delicious...

THUMP

Another downward strike of the horse's hoof as it planted into her ribs and right through it. She felt her flesh rip as a dark haze seemed to start overtaking her body. Shehk focused on that feeling of being devoured even as the horse stomped again, even as less and less of her body was there with each stomp for it to step on.

It was painful, and yet...

The entire thing was invigorating.

Too bad she hadn't been able to fight more.

To slay more.

To eat....more.

It was so white. The feeling of the ground disappearing under her feet had been unnerving, but even more unnerving was how calm she still felt about it and all this uncompromising white. It had to be the incense, but even knowing that, she felt herself grow calmer as the time ticked by.

When the Priestess showed up, Kemnebi smiled and bowed to her before moving to the door she indicated. The ghoul was suddenly in a random, unfamiliar landscape that looked nothing like anything previously seen on Death. Looking around she spotted the weapons.

If her experiences on War had taught her one thing, it was that weapons meant fighting. Her muscles tightened accordingly and Kemnebi was already trying to center herself as she learned to last week.

They were going into battle. They were attacking...humans? Kemnebi frowned, but ran to do as Theseus said. She brushed her hand over a sword but, remembering her defeat with one just a few days ago, she opted for a pair of daggers instead.

They were all silent, waiting for the battle to start. And, suddenly, the battle did just that. Kemnebi was surrounded by screaming humans and dodging weapons. Looks like it was time to fight.

Fighting humans was different than fighting mannequins. These humans were really trying to kill you. Also, they were everywhere; like ants on honey. Kemnebi tried her hardest to block and dodge her attackers, slashing back at them when she got the chance. A well aimed blow to her stomach downed her.

She looked up, winded and defenseless as the human who had knocked her to the ground stood poised to thrust his blade through her. She was dead, she knew it. Her body was still trying to catch it's breath, but what was the use? The sword came down, down, down...

And one of her allies shouted, grabbing the human's attention for a brief time. Unfortunately, it was just long enough for another of her allies in natural form to come flying from nowhere. The beast decapitated the man, sent her a cursory glance, and leapt back into the fray. Kemnebi finally caught her breath, found her daggers and resumed fighting.
