Artifact Search This mission can be taken on solo or with a group. You can run this mission more than once. Equipment Pack:- red flag set (for marking your trail) - 1 bandage (roll 1d cool - 1 FEAR scanner - GPS mapping app for your cell phone (to record locations of FEAR spikes) - 1 days worth of MRE's - 1 pair of spare socks and an apple with a smiley face on it Division Bonuses:- Life hunters have extra bandage kits (trainees roll 1d12, intermediates roll 1 d20; the number of these heals is not unlimited, but rather equal to the number of people in their party) - Death hunters need to scout ahead of the group, looking for signs of danger, avoiding it when possible, and reporting back to the group. They're skilled in avoiding damage. (trainees get 4 auto-damage instead of 5, intermediates get 3 auto-damage instead of 5) - Sun hunters are usually a group's most effective offense force. (During a battle, a trainee is capable of two recoveries, and an intermediate is capable of three.) - Moon hunters create the defensive line that enable groups to take on and survive powerful opponents. (trainees roll to block battle damage using 1d12, intermediates roll 1 d20) - Mist Hunters fill the gaps as needed. (trainees can fill each role one time, in battle or in response to prompts, intermediates can fill each role twice. Both use the trainee rolls of other divisions) Prompts: Group leader rolls 1d100. If you have multiples of a division, they can all roll when prompted to try and thwart damage 1-20: A peaceful white landscape. Maybe a little boring, but better than certain alternatives. Careful! There's some precarious footing ahead! If you don't have a Death hunter to scout, everyone gets 5 falling damage! Death hunters: roll 1d4, if you roll 1-3 you successfully navigate the party around an icy path. If you roll 4 everyone gets 5 falling damage. (FEAR scanner reading: low) 21-40: There's a loud cracking sound in the distance! In the distance a large group of penguins flee the area! The ground begins to shake violently under your feet! If you don't have a moon hunter, everyone gets 5 quake damage! Moon hunters: roll 1 d4 for every member of your party to try and protect them. For every 1 you roll, you fail to protect 1 person from damage. (FEAR scanner reading: moderate) 41-60: You're crossing a a large stretch of ice, when someone looks down and sees something odd beneath it. Once you've passed beyond it and reached higher ground, you look back and see what resembles a massive eyes beneath the surface. It suddenly swivels to stare at your party. (FEAR scanner reading: SPIKE) 61-80: You hear something snap behind you, and turn just in time to see the last flag you've planted get sucked underground. When you inspect where it was you see nothing but a hole going down further than your eye can follow. All of your other flags have met a similar fate. Any party without a Life or a Death hunter lose 10 hp due to getting lost. Death & Life hunters: roll 1d4 to scout the way back or tweak your phone's mapping. If you roll a 1, you are immediately successful, no one take damage. Roll a 2 or 3, you take a little while to figure things out, everyone gets 5 dmg. Roll a 4, and you're unsuccessful, in a few hours the search crew finds you and leads you back to the base. (FEAR scanner reading: moderate) 81-100 BOSS FIGHT!Once again the ground beneath you shifts and buckles eventually cracking open as a massive tentacle bursts from the surface and strikes out at your party! When defeated, rather than dissipate, the tentacle slithers back underneath the surface. (FEAR scanner reading: SPIKE) HP: 20x3=60 Auto Damage: 5

Wilson would very much like to survive the end of the world, please and thank you. He eyed the image on the projector, scrutinizing the tiny artifact. The trainee bit back the urge to throw the doctor a dismayed look. He wanted the trainees to search for a grapefruit-sized artifact in the arctic? Yes, that would be a real piece of cake, but if it meant surviving this ordeal then Wilson wouldn’t mind searching for it.
As he began to gather equipment for the mission, Wilson realized that going out by his self was probably a bad idea. He stopped, drumming his fingers against the pack while he searched for any other trainees he recognized. His face lit up with recognition when he spotted Ryan and Dakota. “Ryan! Dakota!” He waved at the moon trainees. “Want to search for the artifact with me?”

Ryan listened, huddled under a blanket as Dr. H explained the details of the mission. He supposed they should be thankful that they could be of some use and remain here, but at the moment, he'd settle for finding a proper winter jacket. In fact, once H was done, and they were allowed to leave, he decided that that would be his mission before this mission.
About to exit the room and start said mission, his attention was snapped back when Wilson called to both him and Dakota.
"Oh, hey." He answered, tilting his head a little when Wilson asked them about the mission. "As a group? Sure but, can we find some winter jackets first? I'm freezing." He complained, rubbing at his arms to empathize his point. No way was he going to go one a wild goose chase without getting some proper winter attire. Just no freaking way.

Dakota yawned and shifted. He gave a small oomph as the pain from the Sahara ached and ******** Sahara.
Dakota nodded at Chama's words. He couldn't let the failure of protecting Julie continue to damper him, it made him useless and that was the EXCACT oppoisite of how Dakota wanted to continue on.
Her rainbow personality would be missed, Dakota was sure....He would never forget the Moon assistant anytime soon. Didn't that mean she lived on through him?
Chama sounded so wise to him that he could only agree.
It was because of the internal musing and talk with Chama that Dakota payed only half attention to the Life leader. A dangerous thing indeed but a leisure he would allow seeing as he wasn't ready for a mission.
When the details of the mission ended, Dakota pushed himself up and started to head out when he heard Wilson's voice. Followed by Ryan before looking over his shoulders at the boys.
He wasn't ready but....if they were going, he'd go and do his best to protect his brothers.
"I hate being stuck with you two dudes but....A day with the bro's ain't so bad." He shrugged, teasing the two. Too bad he wasn't bro's with a lot of girls. "I'll come along then."

He chuckled and poked Ryan in the shoulder. “Maybe you should have exchanged your jacket for one with long sleeves.” Wilson tugged at the edges of his own jacket, idly running his hands over the trimming. “Although…” He stared at the endless ice. “Once we leave the barriers it will probably be pretty cold, so finding some jackets sound nice.”
Grinning, Wilson rolled his eyes at Dakota. “I’m glad I could count on you.” He shook his head and began briefly peeking into the tents. “Anyways. Jackets. Jackets…Jackets!” The death trainee came back with a jacket for each of them—don’t ask how or why, death trainees were ninja like that. “And I got the equipment ready, so I think we’re set.”

Ryan huffed and tugged his blanket closer around him. "You mean something with sleeves?" He asked, seriously considering it for when he had to hand his coat in for a new one. Then again, most of time he was quite comfortable with his sleeveless one. All the other times, he could make plans for warmer wear. "I don't think our hunter issued coats are enough to brave the antarctic anyways. Hell, I wouldn't even use it for Canadian winters." He shivered again, giving Dakota cold stare.
"I do believe that's my line. I can't believe I'm stuck with you again." He gave a mock sigh, feigning disappointment. Though his expression quickly changed when Wilson returned with jackets.
Yes! Proper winter jackets.
"Ahh! You're a life save, thanks!" He took the one the death trainee handed to him, removing his own, and slipped it on. Relieved when he already started to feel the difference in temperature. "Can I put this in one of the packs?" He asked, holding out his hunter coat. After all, he didn't want to get his ear talked off for losing it.

Dakota grinned at Ryan.
"Lucky for me, Chama is like a heater, haven't been cold since I came here you know? Phoenix weapons...Fiyah. What can't it do?" He stretched again before slipping the ragged hunter coat off and putting the arctic jacket on.
For once as well, he took his bandanna off and placed it in the pack like Ryan did before nodding.
"Alright Leader, Lead us home." He joked at Wilson. "Let's do this."

Wilson snickered at Ryan. “True.” He tugged at his own coat, opting to leave it on and instead shrug the snow jacket over it. More layers would provide more warmth, right? It made sense to him. He nodded at Ryan while he zipped up his jacket. “Go ahead!” Wilson threw Dakota a look. “Lucky you and your fire weapon. Well, Chama definitely can’t spew out poisonous gas, that’s for sure,” he answered with a grin. He bent down to scoop up the pack and put it over his shoulders. Wilson gripped the straps and nodded for the other two to walk in that direction. “Alright guys, this way!”
He was careful about planting the markers and taking note of the FEAR readings, but even that couldn’t have prepared him when suddenly the ground began to shake. Wilson turned toward Dakota and Ryan with a look that clearly read This isn’t good. There was the noticeable sound of ice cracking and nearby a large split in the ground appeared, spreading apart wider and wider until something crawled out from her.
It was a tentacle.
Wilson appeared to be very dismayed.
"Dammit."

Ryan huffed, giving Dakota a light shove before he stuffed his jacket in the bag. "Yeah, yeah. Lucky you for having the fire type weapon. Remind me to borrow Chama later when my fingers feel like they're about to fall off." He said, rubbing his hands together in an attempt to warm them up before slipping the winter mits on over top.
"The sooner we get this over with the better. I just hope we don't get ourselves lost." He muttered, looking past the two and out the window at the thick snow fall.
As the trekked through the snow, Ryan remained quiet, listening to familiar sound of his feet crunching in the snow. It was a neat experience really. Moving this far across the world was something he'd never expect he'd be able to do, and maybe some other time he would have enjoyed a trip to the antarctic, but not now. Not in these dangerous times, and certainly not when it involved hunting for something they might or might not find and could very well get lost or killed trying to locate it.
:At least its too cold for bugs.: Locke chipped in, trying to look on the brighter side of things.

His mental conversation was cut short when the ground began to shake, followed by a loud crack and various rumbles.
An earthquake---no, not a--
"s**t! Watch out for the crevice! You fall down there and you won't be able to climb back out!" He called to the others, jumping clear out of the way himself, before the ground collapsed. He had no idea what was causing the ground to shake so violently, but he knew whatever it was, it wasn't natural and summoned Locke as a precaution.
When the creature did reveal itself--or part of it, it lashed out. The force of which was powerful enough that it knocked the moon trainee back a few feet before it swung back out of reach again. Though not before Ryan managed to drive every clawed tip of his gauntlets into the slippery flesh.
"That's too damn big to be an octopus...!"

Dakota fingered Chama's sheath and grinned.
"If you guys wanna cuddle Chama, you gotta cuddle me, and unless both of you sprout boobs anytime during this mission..." He paused and his grin widened, "Your SOL, s**t out of Luck." He didn't bother putting the gloves on as Ryan did and stared at Wilson who led them off.
In truth, he hated cold, as did Chama. Thank god though she kept warm, and kept him warm. His only complaint is if Snow touched his skin, then he'd be pretty pissed but other then that...
His feet dug into the frozen flakes of snow as they trekked out. The only thing he really added to his outfit was goggles so he could see...and they made him look cool.
"What's that?" He thought he heard one of the two boys talk...a small rumble. "Hey I can't hear-" He cursed as the snow opened, dropping into a crevice. He was that close to falling into a pathetic death. He looked over at his teammates and heard Wilson's dammit before a Tentacle came swinging ******** A, A Kraken in the ice?" Dakota summoned Chama and sliced at the thing.

His eyes immediately darted toward the crack upon hearing Ryan’s warning. While Wilson wasn’t dangerously close to the crevice, he decided to carefully scoot away from it further. The trainee attempted to create as much distance between himself and the tentacle before he dropped the equipment pack a safe distance away. Wilson briefly looked up to see both Dakota and Ryan handling the creature. He winced when Ryan was knocked a few feet away while he noticed Dakota about to climb his way out of the crack. He tried not to roll his eyes at Dakota. “Hold on guys!” he called out, pulling out his weapon and finally summoning it. The backpack was already over his shoulders when he ran back toward his bros, hastily slipping the mask on.
“Watch out!” Wilson warned before he unleashed a cloud of gas, managing to sort of stumble out of the tentacle’s way as it lashed out at him.

"K-Kraken!?" Ryan shot Dakota a look of annoyance. "How the hell do you know if its a kraken or not!?" He demanded. Why he was even bothering to bring up an argument at this point and time, was beyond him, There was more important things at hand, such as defeating this kraken imposter, and yet, he felt this argument needed to be said. "Don't kraken's live in the sea and not beneath the freaking ice!?"
Before he could say anything more, the tentacle swept across the ground, knocking the moon trainee's feet out from underneath him. He landed with a muffled crunch, cursing as he quickly backed away from Wilson's attack.
"Ahh screw this! I freakin' hate deserts!" And by that he meant both sand and snow covered ones.

Dakota blinked at Wilson who let off some gas and covered his mouth with a stifled cough. s**t, that stung and his eyes watered a little.
"Damn Wilson, Cut the cheese once in a while?" He waved any stray gas away before looking at Ryan.
Oh really Ryan?
"Sorry but I've seen Pirates of the Caribbean okay, There is no way in hell this huge thing is a octopus or a squid." He grinned at Ryan, "Unless you have something better it could be and..." He paused and waited a beat, "The Ice is over frozen sea water little Ryan...." Wasn't it?
It was wasn't it? It better be.
"Haha...." Dakota had to admit, he hated it too.

Wilson could care less if it was a kraken or an octopus. It could have been some mind-boggling combination of a kraken and an octopus—or even some kraken/octopus/squid hybrid—and his response would have been the same: take the damn thing down as soon as possible. The two’s bickering baffled the death trainee, but as long as they managed to attack the tentacle at the same time he did not particularly mind. A little bit of arguing never hurt, he supposed.
Behind the mask, he rolled his eyes at Dakota. “Very funny.” The tentacle managed to wrap around one of Wilson’s legs, pulling him up into the air until he hung upside down. “Hey!” he cried, indignant and whacked it with the blades on his cannons. He landed to the ground with a thud. “Ow…” he hissed and shot a look to Ryan and Dakota. “A little help here?”
