The heat didn't bother him as much midday as it did the others. His white pelt, striped with cream lines, the color of his father, markings of his mother, seemed to take the heat well. Though no red graced his pelt, which, some days he wished he could paint upon himself, he truly felt as a well adapted firekin flame.
However, the heat he knew, affected others.
The stray canteen he had traded to that dark lioness was strung around his shoulder and fit loosely. It was empty this day. Though not a true waterseeker it did not stop him from trying to find a water source and bringing it back to those that requested.
He only hoped as he wandered no nergui would come across his path.

She was no Nergui, but Rashmi did cross Fen's path. The huntress, pale and blazing white like a few others in the pride, found crossing the sands... Rather therapeutic. Though it'd be a while yet before she found out, it may have had to do with how she'd come to the Firekin. The sands, while harsh, could be comforting, a familiar presence for those who'd grown up only knowing it and never anything else. She had no hunting to do today, as it was her turn to have a day off, but that didn't stop the white lioness, only having black rims on her ears as markings, from wandering the dunes. She paused as she topped a dune, spying Fen. Curious as to what he was doing, she went out to meet him, ignoring the sun beating down on her back.

His eyes peered about with an inquisitive manner, but his body stopped, eyes ceased moving when they settled on a moon light form on a dune watching him. Fen'wei's white mane fell into his eyes and he shook his face trying to clear his view. He was awestruck.
Fen'wei went to speak but, hesitated.
He'd never seen one so pale as himself before...
But she looked perfectly suited for the sands just as he was. Who was she? Intrigue captured his mind and he raised his head to roar a call out to her, inviting, and his voice then grew soft taken away by the wind.
A smile came over his maw as he stood still and waited, pressing his paws into the sand.

Suited for the sands or not, she still slid down the odd dune as she moved. Which was how she found herself on final approach of the other lion. As she got closer, the minutest of markings became visible. Rashmi found them fascinating as she began trying to count the stripes. She lost her count very fast, head spinning with numbers. She had to reach up and rub her face a little, then sit down. "Oooooh, I shouldn't have started counting your stripes..." Especially in the sun! It'd shift, and one stripe would vanish and a patch of white would look like a stripe... Or was the white striping? She wasn't sure anymore! "I'm sorry, I've lost my manners with my count... I'm Rashmi."

He watched her with bright eyes as she moved. It was so strange, so..encompassing, so see another one like himself here in the sands. No one could truly understand how out of place he felt unless they shared a simple coat of fur as he did. And here, just as he thought that he was truly the odd one out, there was another.
Perhaps there were things always in twos.
Fen'wei chuckled, shaking his head, his mane falling into his eyes some, "Do not worry, and no need to apologize. I know they are very strange for markings, its why I feel a little odd whenever a group has gathered..a white mass in a sea of red and black," he hoped she would understand the strange singularity he felt during those times so he wasn't just alone in his thinking.
"It's nice to meet you Rashmi, I'm Fen'wei," he said lowering his head a little, keeping his eyes on her, "what are you doing out here in the dunes today? Surely not to just count subtle stripes?"
