Now that she had made it to the top of the observation point, not once but twice, and safely down by herself the second time, the Reaper ghoul was feeling a little more confident. She wasn't less scared, but she was finding that it paralyzed her less; she could keep going, as long as she focused on somewhere "safe" that she was heading towards. Which meant it was time for a bit more exploring of the village.

The higher parts still made her nervous, though, and she was working her way up to one of the larger rooms where she'd be able to pay more attention to examining the room than the edges and the fall past them. Which, on the other hand, meant that she wasn't paying too much attention to anything other than her goal.

Alex had yet to catch up to Yin since their second class had ended, not at all sure where to go or what to do after his mannequin had been defeated. It wasn't until much later, after he had wandered off and left the stitched, leather, humanoid form lying on the ground that he thought he probably should have at least taken it back to the clearing and shown his teacher that he had indeed defeated it.

Oh well, too late for that now!

Unfortunately, fighting out in the jungle, not paying any attention to where he had been going, had gotten the other boil completely turned around, and not for the first time in the past couple of days. He found himself wandering aimlessly, not at all sure which direction he was headed or where he should go. He was a little bit worried, but he figured at some point he would stumble across some type of land mark that would give him a clue as to where he was and where he should go from there.

Eventually he came upon a familiar sight. Canopied rooms, located up some trees. He made his way over to them, wondering if they were the same that he and Yin had explored on their first day on the island. If they weren't well..then he could at least climb up and have a look around, and try to get his bearings.

And so, he grabbed ahold of the ladder, and began hauling his way steadily upwards, not stopping until his feet were firmly planted on a wooden platform. A noise caught his ears, like the creaking of feet on a floorboard and his heart lurched in his chest. Oh jack, what if he had just climbed into somebodies home! On the other hand...it may have just been another student. Hesitantly, he called out, as he shuffled further in to the open room. "H--Hello? Somebody here?"

Although Mitzi hadn't been looking to find anyone here, neither had she expected that it would be empty, as there did seem to be both Amityville students and horsemen all over. So although the sound of a voice startled her out of her thoughts, she wasn't particularly surprised. She frowned, leaving the walkway into the nearby building where the voice had originated.

She came out into the room as Alex reached about the middle of it, and now she was actually surprised, specifically that it was someone she knew. "Hey, Alex!" she called over, too distracted by seeing the zomboil to think for the moment to look at the room itself.

As Alex shuffled further in, He peeked around but didn't actually see anybody until Mitzi came into the room. "Oh..Hi Mitzi!" He said, somewhat startled but also relieved that it was her. He hadn't actually talked to her at all since their 'spar' and he wasn't quite sure that they were really on friendly terms, though she had waved to him in the orientation room upon arrival.

"I was just uh..trying to figure out where I am." He said, frowning as he glanced towards one of the open windows.

"How did you do in that class today? That was kind of intense." It wasn't really, Alex had kicked his mannequins a** and he knew he had, but he didn't want to sound boastful or anything.

"Oh, I can show you the way back, if you're lost," Mitzi offered. Because yes, she made sure she always knew how to get back to the places she knew (mostly the obstacle courses). It helped her feel more comfortable, knowing she could return to the areas that wouldn't bother her.

She entered the room the rest of the way, looking around and kneeling to pick up a feather. It looked like some sort of fight had broken out in here... that seemed to happen a lot, actually, so she didn't think too much of it, just tucking away the feather to look at later.

"Oh, one of the first ones came after me, but I got lucky and found some good things to hit it with. At the end I hit it with a hive of some sort of buzzing insects, but, well, then I was stuck until they calmed down enough for me to get by," she admitted. "It's lucky they killed the mannequin, or I'd have been an easy target."

Alex nodded along with her, listening but not really listening as he took a glance around the room. He did believe this might actually be the same one he and Yin had explored before. It did seem to be set up exactly the same, at least. Though there was a painting on the wall that he hadn't noticed before.

Hrmmm...

"Well, I don't know if I really need any help..." He mumbled, even as he frowned at the picture and started moving closer towards it. "I mean, I was actually just trying to find Yin, but he's probably gone off to do some things on his own. I just..slow him down too much sometimes I think. He's much more active then I am."

Ya, he was rambling now as he shuffled closer and closer to the painting on the wall, his hands shoved into his pockets.

"I might just head back to the dorms from here, if you could point me in the right direction."

The painting....it was...quite disturbing really. Were those horsemen cutting off the heads of reapers or were they...human? It was hard to tell.

Just as the ghoul was about to stand, she saw another of the odd stones that seemed to keep popping up here. She tucked it away, and stood up. Seeing Alex's attention on the painting, she frowned. Hadn't she seen one similar to it before, in another room? It certainly looked familiar.

She walked over beside the zomboil to get a better look, since he seemed intrigued by it, but quickly decided that she didn't really want to know. So instead she just shrugged. "Sure, I can point you back toward the dorms. Well, toward the main part of the village, anyway." Now that nothing was occupying her attention, she remembered that she had wanted to ask him... "It looked like you got things patched up fine with Yin?" Really, as long as he'd worked things out with the other boil, she didn't have any reason to still be upset with him.

Alex suddenly shook his head a little, blinking his eyes as he backed away from the painting. It was really quite disturbing, and gruesome, which done in the right way was fine with him. But killing humans unless they were hunters, even as much as Alex enjoyed the thought of possibly eating one, was just plain wrong.

Wasn't it?

"Hrm?" he said, suddenly snapped out of his thoughts by Mitzi talking. "Oh! Yes, thank you, that would be great." He gave her a warm smile, glad she was at least still talking to him after what he had done...

"Oh, well uh, yes we have." He said, with a small laugh as he reached up to run fingers through his white hair, now streaked with black. "But not before I made a bigger idiot of myself and did this to my hair, and bought a bunch of new things, and somehow made Yin think that I'd left him for good."

Yep, it had been a real mess, and Alex was glad that they had managed to get past it, and now things seemed to be going great.

Well....most of the time, anyways. Yin still seemed off at times, but Alex wasn't quite sure why or how to even explain it. He was choosing not to harass the other boil about it, not wanting a repeat of the fight they had had before.

"Look Mitzi I...I am really sorry about what happened with that spar. I know you don't believe me but...sometimes I just can't stop myself. I'm trying to get better, and I think this meditation thing the horsewoman taught us in class might help." He didn't know what else he could say to her except that.

Oh, birds screeching. Alex glanced outside, again. Yep, same creepy a** birds with their creepy a** black eyes staring into Alex's soul.

Somebody should think about snaring a few of them and frying them up for dinner.

She took one more look at the painting, reasonably convinced that it wasn't the same one as she'd seen before, and then turned to the zomboil with a sigh. "Alex, wasn't the point of that supposed to be to knock some sense into you? Seems like it was kind of a waste if you then didn't do anything with it." She gave him a wry smile, though, taking some of the sting from her words.

As he apologized again, she waved it off. "Look, it's fine. Boils can make you crazy sometimes, right?" she asked, teasing him slightly. "The meditation should help, though, if you're losing yourself in fights. And it's definitely better to keep your head, if you go berserk like that it can get you in way deeper than you can handle."

"Well I..yes, I mean, it did knock some sense into me at the time." He replied, as he shoved his hands deep into his pockets and rocked back on his heels and forward again. "I took some time to think, and I went back to Yin's room for the night but then..well...the next day he left and I didn't want to be alone so I found some money and went shopping..."

Found money? Well, he did find it, but then he had also basically stolen it.

"When Yin came back and saw my things were gone, he thought that I had left him for good." He explained. "Then I came back to his room and well...we talked and ya, everything's good now." He stopped rocking to scuffle one of his feet against the floor. He never really felt comfortable talking about his relationship with Yin, for whatever reason. Maybe Yin had said it best. It was their own business and nobody else really mattered. But still, Mitzi had been pretty damned good about everything so far, and she seemed genuinely interested in making sure things were okay.

"I really hope the meditation does help" He said, grasping a hold of the topic change eagerly. "I just don't want to be put in these situations anymore where I lose control and revert to my basic instincts. It's really not a pleasant feeling, when you come out of it and realize you've hurt your friend, or somebody that you care deeply for."

When Alex decided to explain the situation further, Mitzi just found a good pole to lounge against and listened with a slight smirk. When he finished, she shrugged. "As long as it all worked out," she replied, genuinely glad to hear that things were going (relatively) well between the two boils now. She didn't actually care that much about the details, beyond that her spar with Alex hadn't been a total waste, but she also didn't mind listening, and Alex's self-consciousness was kind of adorable.

So she was happy enough to let him run with the change of subject. "So you really have done that before? You really should work on getting it under control, then. Especially if it's a recurring problem, and not a one time thing." She frowned; she'd actually been assuming it was a fluke, but if he knew he did this, then why hadn't he been working to fix it? Or maybe he had, and just hadn't found a way yet.

Again he shrugged, not sure if he was comfortable talking about this now either, come to think of it, though anything had to be better then discussing his weird relationship with Yin.

"I've been reading about it a little bit. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that I've grown up and been around zombies my entire...un-life, so I've never been in a situation where I've wanted to uh..well, bite or tear apart things, other then the animals we hunt. I thought I was getting better at controlling it but...it just gets out of hand when I'm highly stressed out. Fight or flight, you know? Apparently, because of what I am, I prefer to fight." He gave her a wry smile, but he had a sad look in his pale gray eyes.

"It should get better as I get older, I should be able to get more control over myself. Being around so many different types of halloween denizens, while it may sometimes be an issue, is probably actually helping me as well."

He wasn't sure if any of this would make sense to the reaper, but if she understood, then maybe she could forgive him for what he had done.

"Anyways, it's over now, and it'll hopefully never happen again. Were you about finished up here? Did you need help getting back down? I'd like to see if I could find Yin"

His explanation made enough sense, and honestly, she'd pretty much forgiven him as soon as she calmed down. If she had realized he was explaining because he was worried she was still angry, she probably would have set him straight; as it was, she just shrugged. "I'm sure you'll get it figured out then, Alex."

In response to his question, she started to head for the door back to the main walkway. "Yeah, I'm done. Did you want me to point you back towards the main part of the village, or were you going to look for him on your own?"
PostPosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 11:57 pm

He sagged in relief, since the ghoul did not seem upset or put out with him in the least, and was even still offering to help him find his way back to the main part of the village. He followed her towards the doorway, hands still shoved in pockets as he shuffled along at his slow and easy going amble.

"I think I'll just go back to the dorms then, thanks. If anything I can wait there until he comes in for the night to sleep. That will really be a lot easier then my struggling through the jungle all afternoon looking for him." He grinned.

"Though..uh..if you see him...maybe mention to him that I'm looking?" He asked, then at the last second realized that might not work so well.

"I mean..ahhh jack. Sorry, Mitzi." He reached up to run his hand through his hair again, suddenly feeling awkward. Of course if she ran into Yin, the other boil would more then likely run from her, or at the very least, try and get away from her as quickly as possible.

"Forget I asked?" He said, sounding rather meek as he made his way though the door and towards the walkway.

She had been just about to tell the zomboil to follow her when he suggested that if she saw Yin, she should tell him that Alex was looking for him.

And then apologized.

She turned back towards the zombie, remembering what had happened earlier that day. "You were the one who told me I should stay away from him... And I guess I understand now why you said it." She didn't come out and say that she had run into the weremantis, but the heavy regret in her tone probably made it clear enough. She was sure she'd made things worse with him, rather than better, even if she still was completely lost as to what was going on there.
