Well, if nothing else Lou was persistent. And it was that persistence that generally led to his victory. That and the threat that he might wreak havoc on hard work that wasn't even his.
"This place reminds me of downtown. You know those cheap china shops you walk into that want to sell you good luck charms that have been reproduced at least one hundred times over? Yeah, that's exactly what I think of when I look around." Not that anybody asked him. The vampire was just spewing whatever came to his mind. He had finally managed to drag Xiu away all by her lonesome, and he was going to relish in the company.
"Stop me if you see anything you like. I mean, just because I think it's a dump doesn't mean you do, right?"

Sigh. Why did Xiu let Lou accompany her again?
...Right, because she was worried what would happen if she left the vampire alone. Not worried for him, mind, but for the island in general. Valentino had already destroyed enough of the dorm walls without Lou having to chip in, and while there may have not been a way for her to fix the torn paper, the least she could do was prevent any more incidents from taking place.
And then there was the fact that she was trying to keep the residents of the island safe from Lou. Or rather, to be more specific, she was trying to keep the horsewomen safe from the vampire's advances. The horsewomen probably weren't people to be reckoned with in the first place--Xiu was certain that they would be able to hold their own--but the last thing the baku wanted was to offend their hosts.
While Lou didn't seem so fond of the place, inside, Xiu was a ball of happiness. All these pavilions and gardens--it was so pretty here! She was so distracted that she nearly missed Lou's offer altogether, which earned a rather startled stare from the ghoul.
"My, that's...awfully surprising of you. You actually sound kind of...courteous." Kind of. Unfortunately, it seemed that she was speaking a little too loudly for the horsemen's liking. Upon realizing that she was being glared at, a blush rose on the ghoul's cheeks. Quickly, she gestured towards one of the tea rooms and lowered her voice to a murmur.
"Er, why don't we go have some tea or something?"

"Baby, stick with me. I'm full of surprises." A gentle finger slid across the baku's cheek before Lou grinned and glanced towards the tea room... Then the horseman who had just glared at her.
"You should slap his s**t." The vampire pointed out as they entered the room, grimacing at the dinky little tea sets and 'treats' that had been laid out. "... Were these things alive at one time?" Lou's fingers reached down to pluck one of the items off the plate before sitting down. It wasn't that he cared whether or not they were, it's just that he couldn't tell. "And what's with sitting on the floor? are they too cheap for chairs? Are these people with furniture like the french monsters are with razors and soap?" Meaning they used such things scarcely. The twigs on the floor for a bed proved that.
Grumbling, the boil raised his nose to the ceiling as if mocking the snooty air around them and grabbed the teapot and placed the snack back where he had found it. "Ahahahem, one lump or two, my dear?" wrong tea setting, but he poured some into her cup nonetheless. "Ah yes, Mr. Pennyweather is looking rather fashionable today, is he not? I'm sure you heard his shoes were polished with off-brand black. How scandalous." Lou mocked with a nasally accent.

Xiu chose to respond to his request with a puffed out cheek--just one cheek--before she shot a quick, nervous towards the horseman. Lou, on the other hand, received a slightly more incredulous expression.
"What--Lou! Don't you remember what Arel said? About being respectful to our hosts?" She wasn't upset by the horseman's glare, truth be told. More than anything, Xiu was just embarrassed that she had been talking so loudly (or rather, at a normal tone that was too loud for the silence of this place). Whatever the case, she made a mental note to be quieter before she finally turned her attention to something else, namely, the room.
...The room. Even Lou's grumbling and sarcastic comments didn't seem to faze her as she moved around the small space, taking everything in with a smile and a wide-eyed look of wonder. Despite the room itself being rather small, the simplicity coupled with the lovely center courtyard...sigh. Xiu was clearly in love.
Perking up when Lou spoke, she moved to kneel across from him, giving him a small nod in thanks when he filled her teacup. The expression on her face looked uncertain at his mocking tone--it looked like a strange mixture of both amusement and disapproval--but she simply shook her head with a sigh, pushing the plate of snacks towards him. "You should try some of the snacks, Lou. The candied lotus root isn't bad."
Her expression didn't change too much when she took a sip of her tea, but the fact that her tail was sweeping behind her happily was an obvious indication of her opinion.

Did Lou care about what Antlers McGhee said? Oh hell no. Moreover, one of the few things that bothered him in this world were snobby people. Generally it didn't get his goat THAT bad, but the fact that they were surrounded by a bunch of overpowered, egotistical snobby people seemed to magnify everything.
And go figure, instead of being twitterpated with him, Xiu had become quite taken with the room. The small, insignificant room. Well he'd just have to work harder now, wouldn't he? "You know you want to laugh." The vampire said with a smile, pouring himself a small cup before dousing it with as much sugar as he could find. "Wait, did you just say 'lotus root'? That item doesn't sound like it should be edible. It sounds like a cure for warts." Good gravy, why did this little dinky room make her so happy?
The vampire was about to ask if she'd act the same way towards him if he wore bamboo, but some jackass decided to approach him and... Point towards his feet?
"Oh, you like my shoes? I happen to be a shoe connoisseur myself." No, wait. The angry look said differently. There were some slippers at the entrance. Seriously? He'd rather Lou wear some ugly sandals than his nice, expensive shoes? wasn't it MORE respectful to wear something nicer than expected?
"Yeah yeah, whatever." The boil mumbled, grunting as he stood back up to kick off his shoes and socks. At least his feet didn't smell as bad as his attitude.
"Well Xiu, now I look more like the tea room. Does this turn you on?" The grin came back, and so did a waggle of the vampire's eyebrows.

Oh...oops! The slippers! After the look that the horseman had shot Lou, Xiu was quick to slide off her own shoes, slipping them into a pair of the provided slippers. Oh, this was quite nice, wasn't it?
Lou's question, on the other hand, was not. Or rather, she wasn't entirely sure what he was trying to imply. The vampire received a blank stare from the baku. "Turn what on?" His question made no sense at all!
She settled back down by the tea, eying the plate of snacks thoughtfully. "Candied lotus root is pretty popular among my kind, Lou," Xiu informed him, lifting her brows as she tried to pick out one of the sweets, "I used to have some during the New Year back home. You should give it a try, at least." Reaching down, she carefully picked up one of the slices, and then reached out to push the snack against Lou's mouth. There was nothing cute or suggestive about the way she was doing it either--her expression was firm, and it was more like she was shoving the lotus root against him mouth.
It really wasn't a bad snack in her opinion, though. Sweet, and a little bit chewy.

Well. Many might've found Xiu's obliviousness disheartening, but not Lou. Oh no, on the contrary. Lou found it quite adorable. She was a prize indeed. Untouched by the hands of other men. Like a little diamond in the rough. "Don't worry about it." The vampire said with a sly smile before sitting down, promptly resting his elbows on the table. Yes, he realized it was rude. That was half the reason why he did it.
"Well if 'your kind' is so fond of them, then why don't you go to- mmmfrr." Town. He was about to say town before he was stopped by the... thing at his lips. For a moment, and only a moment, his brows furrowed with displeasure.
Eventually though, his desire to please got the best of him. As the boils mouth opened, two elongated fangs sunk into the treat like a knife cutting butter. Honestly he'd rather taste the fingers of the ghoul that fed him rather than the 'food' itself.
Lou grimaced and chewed for awhile before he finally swallowed, immediately opening his mouth to pick the remnants out of his teeth. "That texture is Jack awful." The vampire mumbled, finally taking his fingers away from his mouth when he was satisfied that the rest of the root was gone. It didn't taste bad, but taste wasn't the only thing that dedicated itself to the enjoyment of a meal. "I've had burnt spookies that were more pleasant." Lou certainly was honest. Brutally honest.
"But." His eyes narrowed as he leaned in, resting his head in his hands. Those spiral eyes honed in on the baku. "I think I'd eat about anything if you fed it to me." A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. Xiu seemed to be enjoying the scenery, so why shouldn't he? "So how about that sleepover? I happen to take great joys sleeping in my birthday suit. Hope that's not a problem."

Xiu stared at him with round eyes, her expression expectant as she awaited his verdict on the lotus root. The grimace on his face was enough to make her face fall, though it quickly changed to a wry smile as she shook her head. "I guess it takes some getting used to. Now, a durian," The baku lifted a hand and rubbed at her chin thoughtfully, "I'd like to see your reaction to that sometime."
Truth be told, durian fruit made even Xiu gag. It was definitely an acquired taste, and it was a taste that the baku had yet to grow used to. It would be interesting seeing the vampire's opinion of it.
(Maybe behind that innocent face, Xiu was really sadistic).
She frowned at the sleepover comment, and opened her mouth to scold him when something else that he said caught her attention. "Birthday suit? What's that?" She looked genuinely puzzled, brows creased, head tilted, and a frown on her lips. "Do you vampires have a special outfit that you wear only on your birthday?"

Durian fruit? Lou only quirked a brow for a short moment before the topic turned to something much more intriguing.
Oh goodness. Oh gracious. Xiu didn't know what a birthday suit was. How exceptionally wonderful.

"A birthday suit, dear Xiu" The boil started, taking on his best 'matter-of-fact' tone. "Is something we actually receive on our birthdays. You were close, though. It's very slick, and very rarely does one not match the person it is given to." Oh, he was bad and he knew it. "But it can be worn any time and fits most occasions. People are generally in awe when you wear it around in public, you see." To this, his victory, the boil finally took a sip of his sugar drenched tea. "I would be more than happy to show you mine if you are that interested."

One day, Xiu would look back on this day with a great deal of embarrassment at how naive she was. Right now, however? The baku was leaning forward curiously, her tail swishing back and forth as she listened to Lou's explanation. Her brows her furrowed in deep concentration as he spoke, and it was clear by the look in her eyes that she was trying to imagine what this mysterious birthday suit looked like. Something that they received on their birthdays...
"How strange! But when you say 'we', do you mean all vampires? Or...all boils, maybe?" At the very least, Xiu was pretty sure that she had never received a "birthday suit" on the birthday, though she had once received a very pretty dress for her 5th birthday.
...
Was that what one called...a birthday dress?
"How old are you when you first receive this suit?" It was clear that the baku was interested--and very confused--by the way that she leaned forward even further, "Do you need a new one every year, or...? I mean, if you receive it when you are young, surely it will no longer fit after a year's time."

"I say 'we' as in everybody should receive a birthday suit. I suppose there are select species that may go their entire lives without knowing the pleasures of such fine wears, but all boils and ghouls most likely have one." This was pretty rich. It took a lot of control to keep from laughing, but he was trudging through this like a champ.
When Xiu leaned in, the vampire leaned in as well to meet her, enjoying the temporary closeness. "90% of us receive it when we're born. You see, it's made out of this material that grows with you as you age. Very fancy. And the best part is, it's free." Would she catch on soon? He sort of hoped not.
"My birthday suit is quite fetching. I've always taken good care of it, but I only show it to the people I deem worthy." Better play this up while he could. Lou knew he was in for a beating when she realized what he was talking about.

Everybody? Boils and ghouls? Xiu was looking more and more confused by the second, her brows scrunched up as she tried to imagine what this mysterious outfit looked like. Lou wasn't giving her too many details about it appearance wise, though.
She either didn't notice or simply didn't care about the fact that the vampire's face was so close to hers, her pink eyes bright and alert as she listened to him speak. So it was something that they were born with, and something that grew with an individual as they aged--
--wait a minute.
The baku's expression suddenly grew suspicious, her eyes growing narrow as she suddenly leaned backwards and stared at Lou with a frown. "...You don't say? Tell me, what color is your...birthday suit?"
