Finally! He finally had time to properly spend shopping and he'd decided to spend some of that time at the mall. In the process of weathering the winter months he'd depleted his candle collection and needed, desperately, to restock. The candles he had, in no small amount, were used not just for their scent and calming effect but to add light and warmth during those cold winter months. It didn't hurt that the scents, and combinations you could make of them, could really give quite the tropical and warm feel to a room for a few hours. The point was, was he needed more candles, and so the mall was the only place to go.
Adjusting the zipper on the sweater he wore, the polo shirt underneath peeking from the opening of the sweater, he took a sip from the coffee cup he had in his left hand. Shifting the cup to his left hand as he headed down the mall's length with one destination in mind, not to say he wouldn't wind up in several other places before he left the mall and went home, the teen made it without much incident to Yankee Candle and stepped inside. Grabbing a basket at the door he let it dangle from his left arm as he went to inspect the candles.
Grabbing votive candle after votive candle each was brought up under his nose and sniffed. Some would go into the basket, and others of the same scent would follow, and some went back to where he'd grabbed them from. It was only because he had his right hand occupied, with the coffee cup, what he wasn't opening up the jar candles and sticking his nose right into them and sniffing - as was common for him to do. Drawing one votive from his nose he eyed up the wrapper, more specifically the name, and then pressed the candle back to his nose before it quickly was put into his basket along with several more of the scent and a small jar, seemed he liked it. His basket he noted, for a moment, was filling and he really wanted some jars also...those he'd need another basket for. First though he'd finish with the votives, though he did have the one small jar in his basket now as if it might grow legs and run away on him.

Alex wouldn't know that going into the candle shop and standing over the votive candles, which were right near the window, would make him an easy target. With a grin akin to creepers found on late night television, one Caleb Desrosiers eyed his prey and ducked into the shadows (more like the blind spots created by store displays, but we're not being that specific). The clerk gave him a strange look and Caleb raised a finger to his lips for silence, indicating he knew the boy in question. Alex looked a great deal younger than he actually was and the age difference between the two wasn't that great, but the height difference certainly was. Caleb towered a good six inches above Alex's tallest point with ease.
It was this fact the redhead counted on as he tiptoed behind the poor blonde. The young man dashed behind a plush display and whirled to perch beside a cabinet full of jars. Just as Alex turned away to browse more items, Caleb stepped out and gently placed his chin atop Alex's head, leaning slightly against him.
Caleb completely forgot was his mission was at the mall, but it no longer mattered. His smile turned gentle. "And a good afternoon to you~" he trilled. The clerk must've thought the man lost his mind.

Alexandre was rather sure the other had lost his mind, but he'd thought that for a while now. So it wasn't anything new to think such of the red head. What was new was being used as something of a perch. He should have jumped at the contact, but he didn't, he didn't want to drop his basket or spill his drink. The voice also helped in settling him. The voice he knew, though he hadn't spent much time in the red heads presence, he wasn't a person to be forgotten. "Caleb." The greeting was calm, even as he tried to escape the other and somehow scoot around the taller males body.
"What brings you here? And don't tell me you simply saw me and decided you simply had to greet me." Though he figured it really was that simple of reason, why would it be anything more complicated? He didn't think a candle shop, however nice it was, was the sort of place Caleb would frequent or even visit on occasion. While he'd been working on not judging people on sight he found it hard to keep from doing it, so already had deemed this not the sort of place the other would be normally.
Reaching one hand up, the one holding his coffee cup which was little less than half full, up to the others face he poked at his chin with a single digit. "Your also in a good mood." A simple statement of observation, even if he hadn't seen the other just yet the voice or rather trilling gave it away. Alexandre hadn't changed much since their last meeting, though his hair had grown an inch or so in length 9he'd finally deemed it long enough), he wondered if the other had changed at all.

"I'm always in a good mood, Alex. Haven't you noticed?"
The younger boy was really the only person he could use as a perch - Luanne would swat at him with whatever she could find and Lucia would scream bloody murder about injustice and misogyny. Caleb didn't much care for either one, so Alex was the unfortunate next-best-thing. A hand reached out to ruffle the blonde's hair like an affectionate sibling would. If he could take the boy under his wing, he would. Hell, Caleb would adopt half the city if given the chance!
Waving his hand, the redhead smiled. "Oh, you know me. I happened upon you and you were looking oh so terse, so I decided to cheer you up. And here I am!" Naturally, Alex had assumed correctly - he was simply spotted and previous plans for the day were dropped in favor of bothering the poor boy. Caleb knew Alex didn't care all that much. Besides, Lucia liked candles. Backing up to give Alex some much needed space, Caleb set his hands behind his back. "Are we stocking up, or looking for gifts?"

"That is true, you always are smiling and happy." He almost seemed...wrong, to always be happy and such. Alexandre couldn't help but wonder about the red head, he really was odd with how happy he always was. It was hard to see how a person could be so happy, all things considered, unless a person were blind to everything but the good and he didn't think Caleb was blind.
Taking advantage of the space he was given he moved around the other to continue his shopping, and sniffing, as he picked out more votive candles for himself. Different colors, and labels, were set into the basket as a sip of lukewarm espresso was taken. "Stocking up, I don't do the gift thing often." It was rare and it wasn't done with candles. He bought things more personal, candles were his personal thing.
"Do you plan to follow me as I stock up and then wherever else I decide to go? Ignoring whatever plans you had in favor of spending time with me?" He asked, glancing to the other as another candle went into his basket, Alexandre could spend a lot on candles and his parents understood - how could they not? But also the votives were on sale for half off, so rather than two dollars each one was only a dollar. They even had sales buy two jars and get one free. So he'd had good timing, he had not planned it at all.

Caleb chuckled and ghosted Alex through the store, following within a few feet of his companion. He ducked and maneuvered to stay out of the way of other patrons all the while wearing a Cheshire-like grin. He was in the mood for playfulness and only Alex and his girlfriend Makayla really had the patience for it. Digging his hands into his light jacket's pockets, Caleb whistled a little tune while his blonde companion did his shopping.
"That sounds to me like a desperate cry for help, Alex. Poor, lonely Alex. I suppose I could drop everything I'm doing and spend some time with you, since you asked so nicely." He dropped a wink at the boy and smiled, knowing full well they were both just playing around. Besides, if anyone saw them, the most likely things they would think were that these two were friends or were relatives in some capacity.
The tune started up again and continued for a little while until another thought struck him. "Alex, have you eaten yet today? Or do you have something else to do?"

He still didn't know where the patience for dealing with Caleb came from, he supposed it was the same place it came from when dealing with Bazzite. Not that it mattered, what mattered was he was learning to deal with and tolerate people that before this summer he'd have had no tolerance for. It was amazing what certain things could change, one thing could change something you'd never think related. But that was part of his new found ability to not say certain things to certain people, or to tame things down, that was something he was still working on though, considering his open mouth insert foot incident with Camelot.
"I'm hardly desperate nor am I crying to you for help, I assure you of this." Shaking his head he glanced at the taller male and gave him a fraction of a smile, an honest smile no matter how small or slight.
By now he was on a third basket, which was filling up with jars and little oil incense vials. Startled from the jar he'd been placing, ever so gently, into his basket he stared at the other and blinked once. "No, I've yet to have lunch, I had breakfast. Why?" It wasn't as though he never skipped, through forgetfulness or lack of time, a meal.
"What are you thinking?"

Caleb waved a hand to dismiss Alex's overt seriousness. "Someone's a bit grouchy~" he lilted, his ever-present smile flashing pearly whites. "You're much too serious Alex. What I think you're in desperate need of is ice cream!" Since he was holding nothing, the redhead could stand a jovial display or two. Arms lifted in the arm in bridled excitement. "There's a Dairy Queen here and I've been positively dying for a Blizzard or three. I can work off the calories later with some running or something..."
A hand snaked near Alex and tapped him on the wrist. "Do you need help with that? Maybe you should've grabbed a cart? Good thing you have a chaperon such as myself. I'd be worried about you carrying too many things and hurting yourself!"
There was an understanding between the two that most everything said was in jest and in a friendly manner. The dangling offer of a cold and tasty treat aside, the redhead was happy to have some company. He'd become lonely since his girlfriend's work and school kept them apart most days. Perhaps soon she'd be set free and they could see each other again?

Blinking he looked at the other. "No carts." He commented, stating a simple fact. Most places in the mall didn't have them, though he knew Sears had little carts and so did two or three of the other large department stores. "Your help, while not needed, is much appreciated Caleb." Which is was, he could handle the bags his items were being put in to as he had headed to check out while they spoke.
"Maybe I'll get something small, I'm not much for sweets." He had ice cream, several cartons at home, but he rarely ate any of it. It simply wasn't his thing, he'd never had much of a sweet tooth, to fill himself on sweets. But he knew there was no getting away from the other so he'd concede and to fit in Alexandre was sure he could manage a small cone perhaps.
"Of course you'll work it off, I'd wonder about what sort of....person...you were if you didn't manage that." He said figuring he'd get the idea of what word he really meant to say. "After that perhaps you can remember what you had been planning to do and I can help you, as you've helped me." The other seemed to need the company, and he'd ask about that later, so he'd spend the day with the other and keep him company.

"That's why you're grumpy all the time, Alex. You don't eat enough sweets. Some sugar in your system will perk you up in no time. Why, you'll be downright sociable with some ice cream in your belly~" His voice trailed off as he leisurely followed his charge around the store. He had nowhere else in particular to be, so ghosting the younger boy would be his activity of choice for now. Sure some of the shopgoers probably wondered why an older man was shadowing a younger boy, but stranger things have happened in Destiny City.
Like senshi and their wanton destruction.
Herding Alex towards the register was like herding cats. Caleb chuckled when the blonde picked up more items to place into his basket, all the while refusing any help. "My my, do you even have room for all these things?" He idly picked up a candle labeled Sea Breeze Surprise and gave it a sniff. It smelled of laundry. Shrugging, he put it back. Candles were Makayla's thing, not him. The redhead was more interested in mood lighting and fancy dinners than candles and bubbles and whanot.
But enough about that.
Caleb waved a hand dismissively. "Oh it's no bother. I'm sure it was some boring errand or other, but this is much more fun." He absently played with the end of his long braid. "Now, are you certain you don't need help?"

For a moment he wanted to question the other on just how many sweets he ate in a way, considering Caleb's general personality. But he didn't ask, instead letting the other continue, listening to Caleb talk about how he would be social with some ice cream - not likely.
"I have a dresser that I store just my candles and needed items in." Candle holders for various candle sizes, and of various types; stained glass holders, brushed glass, he had a collection that was the point of the matter. Alexandre Evans had a thing for candles and scents, obvious by the fact he stuck his nose into jars and picked the ones he liked most. Alexandre was in to mood setting with candles, it was a big thing for him and had been for a while now.
Turning, as he handed over the bank card, he stared at the other with something of a mildly shocked expression. "Did you forget what you were at the mall for?" Really, how had he forgotten? Shaking his head he smiled then. "I'm fine, I do this fairly often." Just ask either of the two workers. They both knew him well enough.
