The room that the students are guided into is much less ornate than many of the other rooms in the building of Conquest, however that doesn't bar how striking it is on the inside. The interior is formed with distinct wooden beams that raise towards the increasingly high ceiling, several of the crossbeams bearing hanging tapestries that display some painstakingly detailed scene carefully woven into it. The beams themselves have been carved with the same amount of care and detail, sans one which stands at the center of the room. The thickest beam, the central one has a single thick sacred rope tied around it as it twists and turns, blackened from fire, but a careful look at it as it ascends towards the ceiling tells tale of an old and powerful tree.
On the other side of this tree, several mats have been set out in a circle meticulously, giving each student who enters a place to sit, but also a small box that they may investigate. The inside of each box is compartmentalized into three sections: The first of which holds an incense stand, the second of which holds several sticks for incense - yet seem to have no scent attached, and the third one has a bundle of punks in it. The top tray of the box comes off and underneath it are more compartments that hold various dried plants and other such ingredients.
There are no sources of fire nearby, however, so it looks as though you can't set anything on fire yet.
As you come in, you miss the figure sitting at the head of the circle, almost as though he has purposely masked his presence, but upon looking up it becomes more apparent just who you are taking this lesson underneath: It is Invictus, a face familiar around Amityville for his presence at the heir to the clan. The fact he is familiar may actually make this class less exciting for those who are more intimately familiar with how difficult his teaching practices might be.....

Perhaps it was lucky or unlucky for Serafina, but she had no idea who this Invictus was, only that he looked important, and that was certainly enough for her to sit up with her back straight and wish to listen, to hear what he had to say, perhaps hear where she could find a way to worm herself into whatever he was saying, doing, learn more about how people at this beautiful isle behaved and perhaps get in with their in crowd...
Perhaps Serafina could be a bit obsessive at times, but it came and went, perhaps very typical of a ghoul in more than one sense. The obsessive thought left her as she moved to sit in front of Invinctus, hands carefully knit in her lap, eyes looking up and observing every move with almost too sharp of a focus.
The heir, eh?
Then he was very important.
Perhaps luckily for her, instinct from a prior life, perhaps, Serafina easily fell into modes of 'behaviour' that was expected of her, manners very present and expression patient and waiting, not speaking up unless she was spoken to. Or perhaps she was a quick learner. Attempting to learn all the greatest gossip of their world wasn't exactly possible if she got herself bunted out onto her a** within the first few minutes of speaking.
Some people probably found the idea of Incense and Various Charms very ... boring. Serafina had, on purpose, signed up for these classes, intrigued by charm as she always was, wishing to learn ways to amplify her own natural beauty--and perhaps detract from the surgical mask present on her face, clear with designs today much like the designs she had found in the Isle of Conquest itself--but that was not something she would willingly say. To her, Charms meant ways to conquer others, through information and through knowing everything about the situation and the world around them, and rather frankly, that was ... right up her alley.
To say she was eager would not be a lie, and despite Invictus' smile which might make others wary, Serafina's manners were slowly becoming a more difficult mask, eyes nearly dancing at the thoughts of what she could learn from this heir of the clans.
Perhaps she could impress him.
Hm.

[ ENTERING ]
The Isle of Conquest sure did like detail, didn't they?
Quivering as he entered the - ah, could it really be called a classroom? - building, Fallow allowed himself a moment to take in the painstakingly gorgeous tapestries hanging on display, his ears swiveling around before his eyes even managed to follow. The Púca walked with a great deal of concentration past the tree - he was known back home for, ah, breaking valuable things - and certainly he did not want to get off on the wrong foot by doing the same thing here. Something told him the Conquest Clan would not take well to that. Anyways, it was not as though he did it on purpose, especially the breaking of other people's noses. That was simply their fault for getting in the way or being too stupid to know that sneaking up on ones self was not the smartest idea, and he would have none of the blame. No.
But still...
It was all very ornate, very respectable, in its own way, and while the Púca had no qualms about not fitting in, surely fitting in itself would help him out. Even though classes had, ah... never been quite a strong point for him. Accustomed now to the lack of chairs, the Púca dropped himself delicately onto one of the mats, wishing suddenly that he had not gotten here so quickly. After all, where was his herd? Surely they should have come by now! Rumbling softly in dissatisfaction, Fallows, fingers traced over the box with curiosity and lingering intrigue that never seemed quite dead in this place before the sound of someones voice stole his attention away.
Turning his head, neon markings glowing just a bit brighter, the Púca raised his head just slightly to get a clearer look at Invictus, who, of course, was someone as unknown to him as the bottom of the sea. Thus, there was no real concern inside of his brain - though when was there ever? The Púca's tail folded to the side and wrapped around his folded legs, ears bent forward to listen attentively to this strange little creature. And what a big title for him as well!
How... ah, interesting.
Remembering the greetings he had seen the Conquest Clan so commonly use around each other, Fallow bent slightly into a gentle bow formed only from his upper body, ears inclined and lips struggling not to smile. "Good afternoon then, Invictus, heir of the clan of Conquest." He murmured in a tone warped by intrigue and cold manners that had been driven through his skull at a young age and barely used. Even though contrary to some belief, they still existed somewhere in the dark corners of his brain. Straightening fully, he could not help another silent quiver through the tip of his tail, making his body tense with subtle interest. Whatever would this Invictus have to teach them now? Especially when it was - what had he said? - charms and incense that they were going to be playing with today. How very fitting a title for a class being taught in the Isle of Conquest. How very quaint.

The Heir of Conquest?? A horseman in training?? ... Faustus's suspicions seemed to be confirmed as he stepped into the rather opulent room.
Why would a horseman bother to teach such a simple thing as incense and charms?? he wondered, as he took a seat on one of the pre-placed mats. He made certain to choose one farther from his overseer, however, not at the very end. He wanted to save a spot for Amarus in case she happened to show up soon. He had quickly become rather fond of the girl, as she had seemed rather nice to him, and was about the only person he had really spent time with since arriving. And despite his anxiousness at being in a class tutored by a horseman of all things, Faustus had to admit, he was pretty excited. His tail kept swaying behind him, fingers drumming quietly against the floor. He almost laughed as he overheard a rather lazy boil nearby mention demons lighting fires. He himself was a case in point, and if asked to, he would gladly light the fire. It seemed just as exciting. He stared to the box before him, filled neatly with trays and ingredients.
But what would their homework assignment be?? ...

This was supposed to be a class, but the room was a far cry from the usual classroom setting Dev was accustomed to, though she quite liked the change in appearance. There was plenty for her wandering eyes to move across, glowing green sliding over the wooden beams until she reached the high ceiling. Her gaze naturally moved to the hanging tapestries, ears perking at the woven imagery on the cloths. They were beautiful, detailed and intricate. Dev scrutinized the scenery, wondering what the tapestries were attempting to explain to any and all who looked at it. She felt tempted to reach out and run a hand over the carved beams, but the Heir’s voice called out to her and the other students, luring her back.
She eyed the Heir of Conquest for a fleeting moment before she moved toward one of the mats, expression softening and her lips breaking into a grin as she seated herself behind Fallow. Dev kept her legs folded beneath her, hands smoothing out the tiny crinkles in her skirt while her tail lay curled behind her. There were no words for her to exchange, at least not when the young horseman was still speaking. Her ears remained attentive—though sometimes she suspiciously flicked her glance toward Fallow, wondering if he would do something odd—while she reached for the small box in front of her. Dev took a quick look inside, curiously taking in the incense and stand. Unsurprising, given the class title.
Dev threw Invictus a smirk as his voice trailed off. It certainly wasn’t an exciting subject matter, but the ghoul wasn’t looking for something exhilarating, so charms and incense suited her just fine. She leaned forward to try and sniff the incense in the box. Incense suited her just fine.

Amarus didn't know Invictus particularly well. In fact, she had only seen him the handful of times, now. She tilted her head, bells ringing, to look up at the beam which had a charred rope wound around it. Everything seemed to be ceremonial here, everything significant. It would surprise her far more to see something practical without ornation than the other way around.
And she wasn't looking forward to the business with the incense. She was still kind of off from the whole lotus thing, and her inability to stay away from the Lotus Pavillions. Well, it could be worse, right? Amarus walked past Zar and Chuppi and dropped herself onto the mat near Faustus and JD.
"Heyyyy guys," she greeted them, her voice a little... weird. She looked a bit like a cat that'd been into some catnip lately.
She paused, leaned forward and tried to open the box in front of her mat, taking things apart. "Huh, what's in these?" Then, another pause, and she turned to Faustus to say, "You know anything about incense?"
And to JD: "Where's your half-sister?"

((entering))
Sliding an arm against her eyes and covering her mouth to stifle a yawn, the rabbit entered the room - and felt instantly awake. Energy was here, though the room itself was calm, she could feel it down through her toes. Crossing that threshold and into the room she turned her glance to the mats, catching the sight of her dear Puca.
Delicately and carefully she made her way to sit near him, barely even noticing the other figure until the familiar voice broke her train of thought. Any attention she had been paying to her new friend was immediately shifted to the figure. Tilting her head with a few bats of her eyes she studied him over, her pink eyes shining. After his introduction she watched as Fallow spoke to him.
With a shrug she took her eyes from him and stared down at her box, rolling it carefully in her hands. It smelled... interesting, or perhaps it was the lack of a scent that was interested. Squeaking under her breath she sat down on the mat while her tail twitched impatiently. This was what she had been waiting for, and what she assumed her new friends had been too. To immerse in culture, to learn... to eat. She wondered if anything in the box was edible, but refrained from checking, lest she offend their host.
She wondered if there would be more tea house snacks...

A lopsided grin tweaked across Faussi's face as Amarus appeared, seating herself calmly and gracefully on a mat between JD and himself. It slowly faded however as he realized she didn't seem to be entirely alright. In fact, she seemed a bit too alright. He stared to her a moment, perturbed by the way she seemed to be staring, almost as if in a daze. "Hello to you too," he teased kindly, before arching a brow. "... What happened to you by the way?? ... you look as though you fell into a vat of ... of something verrry strange." He blinked curiously.
"Oh um, well ..." Faustus bit his lip as he thought how to answer her question. "No actually, this is my first time using them." He chuckled softly and sent her a sly wink. "I do know alot about burning things however. My family come from a long line of demons who control wildfires. So lighting something plant-based, such as that rope-" He pointed to the rope winding around the center beam at the middle of the room. "-Or even a few of the ingredients here is no problem for me."
"By the way, I don't think we've met." He leaned forward around Amarus to meet the the lazy boil's gaze, waving a hand. "I'm Faustus."
