The Open Canopy

General setting: The open canopy is a series of simple wooden structures that may see at first, rather precarious, especially while climbing upwards. The structures themselves are actually rather sound and ironically, rather comfortable looking, similar in style to the dorm rooms, only much larger. Foliage and trees cover up a good portion of the view, but from the ground up, like all the other structures in the clan, the drop down would be rather far.

OOC: EVENT ROLLS AND PROMPT MECHANICS:

- When your student has arrived in this setting, you can CHOOSE to roll a 100-sided dice at any point in time. You can only do this twice per RP you make. Match your dice roll to the results below for a prompt/ small reaction that your student may discover. RP out results accordingly.

1-20: The area itself seems rather abandoned, though as you look a little past the area, you can see a few Clan members flying away, seemingly towards the portal exit. It looks like they're in a hurry, and heavily armed.
21 - 40: Black feathers are scattered all over the room. It looks like two clan members got into a fight here, judging from the heavy scratches on the ground, though what exactly happened? (see below for horsemen point prompt)
- Horsemen point prompt! You also see something glint next to you, but is it just a trick of the light? Roll a 6-sided dice. If odd you obtain one horsemen point! You can only redeem a max of two from all prompt prps/orps your student is in per OOC 24 hours. You can redeem these here and here!
41 - 60: You hear a strange shrieking noise, as you look out, you notice a series of bird-like minipets perched next to this place. They are staring at you keenly for some reason.... maybe they want food?
61 - 80: You notice a single painting in the room, featuring a rather bloody, but illustrative, depiction of several Clan members of war cutting off the heads of what look like humans.
81- 100: The small fireplace inset in stone seems to contain bits and pieces of burnt, charred notes. Only the edges remain, revealing - maybe some sort of map?

Deprived of the chance to see the view at the observation point, Edel made her way around the tree lofts, finding herself a nice open canopy where she could sit and look out from, though the view would not be as prime with the trees in the way. Finally, after a long day of sparring and the unfortunate attempt at the swinging ladder, the ghoul could finally sit down and relax. Upon entering the premises, she would notice a scattering of black feathers all over the room. A fight most likely, she concluded, unsurprised as she traced the scratches on the wooden floor with her foot. Edel crossed the room, moving towards the open balcony when she caught a glint of something on the floor...

Curious, she toed the object, dislodging it from a crack between the wooden boards. The ghoul bent down to pick the object up, examining it in the light as she held it between her two fingers. Edel really didn't like to thing that she was the kind with magpie like tendencies, but it was a rather peculiar and intriguing thing ... a souvenir? After a bit of back and forth on the issue, the ghoul decided to simply quietly slip it into her pocket and enjoy the rest of the abode. If that was considered an act of thieving ... well, she didn't have too many qualms about returning an innocuous looking piece of rock.

The ghoul eventually sat by the balcony, letting her legs dangle in the air. With the weather finally cooling down, she found herself enjoying her stay much more than she previously expected. Her quiet moment of reflection was soon interrupted by some activity in another area nearby; the ghoul turned to see a small group of horsemen taking flight towards the portal, startlingly heavily armed. Her eyebrows furrowed as she paused to consider what was going on, aware that the horsemen were not the type to move without reason. Was there trouble ahead? Edel didn't like the feeling she was getting but decided to put it aside for now. Perhaps they could resolve it quickly... hopefully. That said, she would be on the lookout for signs that said otherwise from then on.

Muka had no use for elevators or paths. The strix looked happier than he ever had, winging about the treetops. He was careful not to go anywhere he wasn't allowed and if he found a horsewoman blocking his path he simply turned and went another direction. The owl-boil seemed to be in his element amongst the high treetops.

He'd just learned to make knives and now was seeking anything else that could keep his mind occupied. A figure in blue and white caught his eye and he flew low, popping up at the last second to spook his dear friend Edel.

"BOO!" He giggled, landing next to her on the platform. His wings folded behind him and she'd notice he'd left his shoes behind. The strix was opting for barefoot, his toes just as taloned as his fingers were and much more suited to grasping all this wood.

Ah, the owl's silent flight. Edel wasn't so much startled than delightfully surprised that Muka had come to join her. “You're really enjoying yourself here aren't you?” she said with a laugh, noticing that her dear friend was barefoot. “How was your day today? Not spent getting beaten up by these strong warriors I hope?” she asked wryly, gesturing at herself and showing off the cuts and bruises she sustained from the sparring sessions.

"No fights for me." The strix milled around Edel, poking feathers with his feet. They were soft and black and everywhere. "I learned how to make a knife though. There's a weapon making area and the only fighting is against a leather dummy." He snickered.

The strix crouched to pick up one of the feathers and examine the scene of conflict. "Strange hmm? Do you think someone was fighting?"

There was a deep gash in the floor and Muka thought he saw something catch the light. He used his talon to scratch away until the shiny thing gave way.

"Oh look Edel!" He held up the small thing. "Is this like their money?" It reminded him of a pumpkin seed a little bit. He dropped it into his pocket as a souvenir.

Sounds... interesting,” Edel raised her eyebrows, unable to hide the notion that weapons making sounded a little dull in comparison. She could try that tomorrow though, the ghoul was certain she wouldn't be able to handle another day of being trashed around by the amazonian horsewomen. “I would think so, doesn't seem too uncommon around here,” she replied with a laugh.

The ghoul leaned back and turned around as Muka called her, seeing that he too had found another of those objects she had pocketed earlier. So they were everywhere weren't they? She didn't have to feel too guilty about keeping one now would she? “I have no idea, I found one of those earlier before you came .... makes a nice souvenir I suppose.

Looking back out of the balcony, the ghoul paused for a moment in contemplation as she watched another few clan members flying towards the portal. “Say ... do you think there's some trouble back in halloween? Or were the horsemen supposed to visit our school as part of the exchange program as well?

Just like a bird, he was preoccupied by the shinies. The strix glanced up at what Edel was looking at. His head tilted while his fingers dug into the cracks in the floor.

"I suppose the term exchange implies that some of them would go to Halloween. But would they need to be so fully armed?" There wouldn't be too much battling in Halloween, unless it was some sort of show of force. "Perhaps to show off?"

The strix did know very little about the horsemen and before going to school he'd never even heard of them. "Did you know about the horsemen before school?" They both came from wealthy and influential families. Well connected people usually got rumors and things.

Ulmuka let out a triumphant squawk as he pried another silver piece from the floor. Happy with this accomplishment he joined her, legs dangling and watching the War clan flying about.

Riley hovered up into the canopy quietly, just in time to see several winged clansmen dashing off, armed to the teeth and looking about ready for war. They were flying towards the portal exit, which only meant one thing to Riley. This place was not as safe as they were led to believe.

And somehow, that comforted her. If the danger was starting to leak even here, then the horsemen truly did have a reason for allying with Halloween. Their own safety was at stake. That was enough for her.

As soon as she landed on the precarious surface, she noticed several things. Edel and Muka were the most obvious of note, and she gave them both a solemn nod, before her investigation of the area led her down to the floor. She placed one hand on the scratches and marks of struggle, trailing a single finger down the cut surface before looking back out at the now empty horizon, where those winged figures had been a moment ago. If there had been a struggle here before leaving, then perhaps not everyone was as keen to join the fight against the hunters as she might have thought.

Dissent in the ranks. The Horsemen had more trouble than even she could have guessed.

A glint of light threatened to pull her attention away, but she was sure it was nothing, and stood to continue searching the area. She felt a little remorse for betraying the hosts she clearly respected, but the area would not have been so open if they truly wanted to keep it a secret. They encouraged exploration, after all.

She didn't want to interrupt the two in conversation, but she was rather curious to know if they had found anything more than she had. There was no real mystery to solve, but it was always good to know what secrets were being kept from you when you slept under someone's metaphorical roof. So she stayed nearby, inclined to listen, but keeping her 'mouth' shut for now.

Edel shrugged, her worries seemed to be confirmed further with Muka's input. “Maybe they're a part of a protection scheme of sorts,” she guessed aloud, thinking back to the previous few assemblies. That might make a little more sense. “I've not heard much about them ... my family isn't say, the most well-connected or well-informed rather.” Or so she thought, though as of recent she was beginning to suspect that her father did know a few things but simply refused to talk.

On to more trivial subjects, Edel rather cheekily asked, “How are you finding the fashion sense around here, hm?

Her slightly juvenile giggling that followed was quickly stifled as she soon found they were joined in the presence of Riley. The president of the student council ... she had seen her attacked by Caelius that day in the forest. It was a relief to see that she seemed alright, the ghoul had been at the infirmary to witness the struggle to put her back together. Still, she couldn't say that she knew Riley too well, but she could at least manage a smile and a “Hello, it's nice to meet you.

"My father has been very strange with me lately." Muka confided to Edel. "Apparently one of my siblings has disappeared. He was also concerned about what I may say during the trials. He didn't want unsavory comments drifting around." Muka giggled playfully though. "But I suppose he cannot hide his monster child anymore."

Muka snickered uncontrollably when Edel asked about the fashion. "It's... unique!" He patted her hand as he giggled then dropped his volume to a whisper. "It's pretty awful actually!!"

When Riley appeared the strix hopped to his feet, still giggling slightly but trying to get a hold on himself. He gave her a bow and a grin. "Good afternoon Madame President." He wasn't well acquainted with Riley and couldn't remember a time when he'd even spoken to her so he would never call her by her name as if they were familiar.
