Van had glided down from the gods haven on a whim one day and had been unable to return back home since. His little wings were unable to carry him back to his family. Worry was not something the little god did. That was Bara's job to do after all. The hawk his father had given him and his brother had probably been one of the better ideas in the history of ever. Van had wandering paws and like right now, with the little horned godling walking around the savanna, the case was clearly proven he needed to be watched at all times.

"You do realize that you could easily be stepped on and killed. Don't you?" The hawk squawked down at the young adventuring god. Van didn't say anything. He just continued on with a smile on his maw as he tried to crush a passing grasshopper.

"KILLED! K-I-L-L-E-D!" The squawking was louder and more angry.

"You keep saying that word like I should know what it means," Van looked up at the bird with an annoyed expression. Seriously what was Bara getting at. The grasshopper had longed been squashed beneath the god's paw. Van looked down at it and frowned.

"Like that bug! You'll end up like that bug!" Bara circled over head before landing on the gods horn.

"Thats silly Bara~" Van shook the hawk off his horn, "I'll never just stop being fun like that grass hopper.~ I'm just that awesome." And with that, Van took off in to the deep of the grass leaving a very annoyed bird to try to make heads or tails of what was happening. It took a moment for the bird to regroup and soar over head in search of the young godling. As god of innocence, Van had trouble understanding what danger was along with a lot of other things.

Alkaid had forgotten how long it'd been since she fled the God's Haven - she'd forgotten how long it'd been since she even woke up. Was it called waking up? Had she been sleeping?

The lonely cub had no one to guide her, no one to help her, and she'd been wandering alone for as long as she could remember - even if it wasn't that long. She'd stayed clear of prides for fear of them, watched prey beasts from a distance, and mostly sat staring at the world around her in seclusion. She wasn't unhappy, but she was lonely.

She heard the squawking in the distance before the figures ever appeared and chose to leap down from the rock she'd found amongst the tall grasses. She curled up as tiny as she could manage while still trying to watch them around the edge of the boulder. As small as she was, though, she was covered head to toe in reflective jewelry - camouflage was not among her talents.

Bara soared over head keeping an eye out for moving grass. Van, even though being clever was not among his talents list, managed to move through the grass as tender pawed as possible. Soon Bara had flown out of sight and Van could breath again. Not that he didn't enjoy the birds company, he did, but being reminded of this and that and all the nagging wore thin over time on Van's patience.

And now for a little while he could relax and do godling things. What ever godling things meant. There was a glimmer of something bright from the sun. Something shiny and just all around interesting. The godling felt his paws moving him before he could react. Van saw the jewelry before he saw the goddess wearing it. His small paw reached over and tapped one of the dangling pieces from her tail.

Tap tap. Van was like a cat with a string.

Alkaid's eyes had followed the bird and lost track of the cub, most of whom was hidden among the grass. By the time the bird soared overhead and she glanced back down.. he was gone. She edged slightly around the opposite side of the rock as he did, completely unaware that he was accidentally sneakin up on her.

The tap on her jewelry nearly made her jump out of her fur, and successfully made her jump straight up into the air with a terrified yelp. Her little wings flapped furiously to keep her afloat, hovering over the rock with shock plastered all over her pale face.

When she at last noticed it was the cub and that he too had a pair of little wings, she slowly sank back to the top of the boulder - though uneasy, like a bird prepared to jet off at any second. Her wings were still open and her paws were on edge.

"Don't sneak up on others!" She chastised, though her tone was more confident than she looked.

The jewelry started screaming and then floating away?

"Hey come back here!" Van demanded the fun gold things. Only then did he realize that the jewelry was actually connected to a winged goddess... that could hoover! He was interested almost immediately that this small godling could hoover! He couldn't do that yet. And then he got scowled. Ears flattened and his tail even went between his legs.

"D-Did I do something to upset you? I'm sorry..." The tone was small and timid. However, as fast as he was sorry, the god of innocence was over it. Ears popped back up excitedly as he stared at her wings.

"So you can fly ~? I can glide! Can you teach me?" He playfully jumped to the side into a play bow. His rump wiggled a bit before pouncing to his right side. This was more canine behavior then feline. Van probably missed the memo on what was proper for a feline.

It wasn't hard to tell that the boy was genuinely sorry for startling her, even though Alkaid wasn't exactly well versed in personality types. His tone and posture soothed her though and with a small hesitation, she refolded her wings and put her weight back onto her paws.

"I can't fly far," she said quietly, twitching her wings at the thought. "I can glide from really high up, or flap real hard like that and.. hover for a second." Her timidness faded in favor of a frown, at herself. "I can't really fly." She didn't know who the stranger was, but she felt bad for disappointing him.

"Do you know any big gods? Can they teach you?" But suddenly she was excited again, and not over the idea of learning to fly. If he knew big gods then maybe he could take her somewhere less lonely.

So she couldn't fly? Van found him self disappointed slightly but just for a moment. He knew her frustrations with only being able to do so much with such little wings. Then she asked about bigger gods and Van's face lite up.

"I do ~ My dad's got two sets of wings and my mom ... Well she has none. But she's pretty and has a horn and is pretty ~ But no wings." He unfolded his small godling wings, " Thats okay though. I have wings," That logic made perfect sense to the small god. He gave her a reassuring nod before turning to climb up the bolder the goddess had been hiding behind earlier.

"I got a better idea. Lets practice. Kay?" He tilted his head down at her. "We'll jump and fly and fall and then do it again. That way one of the times its gotta work." Again this logic made perfect sense to him. With out another word, the great god of innocence leaped from the top of the bolder only to glide a few moments before crashing down to the ground like an ungraceful sack of potatoes.

"Ophhhhh...."

"Oh.." He had parents? She.. didn't. For a moment she was sad, almost pouting, before he startled her as he began to climb up to where she stood. She edged a little sideways, giving him room and trying to avoid direct contact. He sure didn't have many boundaries!

She listened and nodded to what he said, even scrambling to the edge to watch him as he took off.. only to grimace when he flopped gracelessly to the ground.

"You have to flap!" She called down at him, though hesitated to jump off the edge as carelessly as he had. She took a step back, then faltered as she began to move forward. She repeated it, over and over - back, forward, falter. It wasn't even that far!

Finally, with one deep breath, she jumped over the edge and went into a flurry of flaps. It took her higher, but then as her little wings gave out she fell, even farther down into a heap with a louder 'oooph'. Her jewelry tussled and her long mane flop covered her little face entirely.

"I can never get the landing right," she sulked, pushing herself up a little and trying to see from beneath her disheveled hair puff.

Van watched from the ground as the goddess took off the boulder and did better then him only to fall to the ground afterwards. The god could only lay there in his heap of failure before getting up, shaking off the dust, and going to nuzzle her to make sure she was alright.

"That looked like it hurt... Lets do it again~" He gave her a bright smile before scrambling up the boulder again and leaping. This time his little wings flapped giving him a little more height before the god's wings just gave up. Van landed on his bump with a loud smack. It hurt for a moment and caused the lion to even tear up a bit. But he quickly was over it and up on his paws again.

"Hrmmmm...." He was inspecting his wings , "You think their dizzzzzzzfectuve?" He attempted to say the word defective and failed.

She managed the tiniest smile as he nuzzled her, shyly glancing down at her feet between her tussled hair. Once he left, she shook her head until it was at least out of her face, though somewhat wild now.

She hesitated, but followed, climbing slowly up the boulder just in time to see him take off. She almost laughed as his wings held him up - but widened her eyes in shock as he fell again, harder this time.

She walked to the edge and peered over with a grimace, then sat promptly on her rump, thinking.

"Noo, they can't be.. not both of us!" She sighed and spread her wings, flapping them a little where she sat. "Maybe they're too small? How big do they get?" Logically bigger gods meant bigger wings, but she.. couldn't remember seeing them but from a distance in the haven.

"Or.. maybe.." She glanced down at him suddenly, thinking. "We're doing it wrong! You glide really good, and I can hover pretty good. Maybe we gotta do both?"

The god still had a wing unfolded. He was giving it a suspicious eye unsure if the things were to be trusted. But the goddess had a point. What if they were doing it wrong. Van got back to his paws and shook more dust off his coat. This flying and landing was dusty business.

"Alright," He nodded. "Do you think it might work if we jump off the boulder at the same time? You do the hoovering and I'll do the gliding. That way its gotta work!" Van had missed the point entirely. It hadn't yet struck him that maybe Alkaid meant they both try doing both. But Van logic tended to mess most things up. The little godling was already clumsily making his way up the boulder. There he sat beside the young goddess.

"I think your really clever," He gave her a nod. "Are you the goddess of the clever maybe?" He was half kidding around but also kind of seriously asking.
PostPosted: Mon Apr 02, 2012 9:00 pm

She opened her mouth to say that she didn't think it worked like that, but shut it once he simply sat beside her. If they were just gonna take a break, she'd tell him later. And besides that, she wasn't quite sure HOW to hover and glide at the same time.

"Mm, no," she laughed a little at what she thought was a joke, then gave her entire body a little wiggle. It made all her jewelry glint and shine in the sunlight, reflecting and casting dancing beams of light over the boulder and grass around them.

"I'm the goddess of light," she stopped her wiggling and gave him a once over. Nothing seemed very.. telling. "Are you.. determination, maybe? oor.. happiness?" Those both seemed appropriate for him!

"Your not?" Van sounded a little disappointed that he hadn't figured it out. He could have sworn she was the goddess of the clever. Hearing that she was light, however, gave him a smile of approval. That was some how a much more fitting domain. Part of him wanted to pounce the dancing light in the grass but he refrained and instead stayed put on the boulder.

"Huh?" He tilted his head at the goddess, "Really? You think I'm happiness or determination?" His smile grew, "Those are neat but I'm not those things. I'm Innocence ~" He puffed his chest out quite proud that now he could pronounce his domain correctly. It took some work but now Van had it down to a fine art.

"I'm not entirely sure what it means though... But I'm pretty sure fire powers come with it. " He gave her a nod. He'd had his domain explained before but could never remember the exact explanation. It was more fun to make up the meaning.
PostPosted: Mon Apr 02, 2012 9:25 pm

She seemed a little embarrassed at the way he said that, glancing down at her paws and shuffling them a little. "Well, yeah, you're really happy.. and you don't stop trying to figure this out.." By the end it was a shy mumble and she was all too glad he changed the subject with his own domain.

"Innocence? Uh huh.." She knew the word, but not.. what it meant. Fire powers sounded just as likely as anything else! "Can you show me?" Her eyes lit up again, that familiar excitement of something new washing over her. "I can't use any of mine yet, I don't even know if I get any!"

"Show you?" The corner of his mouth twitched a little from nervousness. But still, Van gave her a nod. He'd try. So the young godling shut his eyes really really tight and concentrated on his horn. There were a few disgruntled focused grunts as he tried his best to focus all his power to his horn. His wings unfolded from his back and began flapping wildly and then.

Nothing.

Van opened his eyes and crossed them looking up at his horn.

"Did I do it?" He pawed up at his horn. "Was there fire?"
