WE ARE HALLOWEEN Death Hunter DEATHSWEEPER General Information The large stone cavern with the tiled floor and large yellow smiley face is likely familiar to at least several trainees, and may even feature in a few nightmares from time to time. Welcome to Deathsweeper, the training course that may only be attempted via c-type golem, and often acts as a testing ground for the Life Division's more painful creations. Stealth and detecting imminent danger are vital for Death Hunters and anyone who has to spend extended amounts of time near Caelius. The Deathsweeper chamber is full of hidden traps that only the finest of survival instincts can survive unscathed.
If you fail: you get to once again relive the sensation of dying. Painfully and sometimes quite strangely.
If you win: you have survived stepping 5 tiles into the room. Anything further is purely for peen and bragging rights.
Mechanics roll 1 d10 check for hp loss and death decide whether or not to use your bonuses if you survive, repeat. roll list: the traps are ICly constantly changing, so feel free to get creative as to what exactly those traps are! -50% HP is off your full HP, so if you hit -50% twice, then you are 100% KO'd

Bonus Mechanics This bonus is consumable. All participants get a flag, this flag will allow your character to notice something about the area they're stepping into. OOCly this means you can adjust your rolled number, up or down, by one point. Instinctive moves are used in the same manner as flags. These are stackable, so if you have 1 flag + 1 instinctive move, you can use them up in order to adjust your roll by two.
(If you roll a 1, you may not move your number down to 0, -1, or 10. And 10 cannot be adjusted to 1 or 11.)

Jude coaxed Eva to come with him to the Deathsweeper. Will they die horrible deaths repeatedly while here? Probably but at least it wasn't ... entirely them dying. Just their ... golems. It totally won't create just more nightmares for Eva. Not at all.
...Nope.
"Alright, let's do this," Jude said trying to get some sort of enthusiasm going.
Also? In case Eva fell asleep behind the wheel Jude was there to help her out. Totally a bonus to being here with her instead of just letting her do this on her own.

Oh god damnit.
Eva looked not unlike a deer in the headlights when she realized just where she was. Well, considering the name Deathsweeper, she really shouldn't have been surprised to find that she was in front of a life-sized minesweeper game, but...
...But this was definitely bringing back some bad memories of her death on the Island. Still, it wasn't as if she could back down right now--she needed this training, and since she had let Jude pull her along, she might as well go through with it.
"...So, Jude," The girl said conversationally, though she sounded rather nervous as she took a step forward, "Tell me...what compelled you to choose this particular course?"Status Step: 1HP: 50/50 Flags: 1 Instinctive moves: 1

Jude moved toward his first tile, cringed for a moment and waited for inevitable doom but it did not come. He glanced over at Eva and shifted a shoulder, "It is ... usually pretty quick to go through, plus y'know...It is linked to our Division ... So it is our training place."
He didn't know how it dealt with research and information gathering unless it was research into the best ways to die. Status Step: 1 HP: 50 Flags: 1 Instinctive moves: 1

Jude had a point, she had to admit. They probably did have a bit of an advantage here since it was linked to their division but just...goddamn. Considering who their division head was, she shouldn't have been surprised that their course seemed particularly dangerous and sadistic.
"This is the third time I've been on something like this. The first time was on the island." She eyed the tiles warily, and then lifted a foot to step on the one to her left.
Eva froze. Maybe it was just a feeling, but that tile felt...
Frowning, she decided to choose the one directly in front of her instead. Phew, safe.Status Step: 2HP: 50/50 Flags: 0 -- Using it this turn to go to 9! Instinctive moves: 1

Jude frowned a little at her recollection, "That doesn't sound pleasant at all," he said in a moment of understatement, "but you can't fear everything forever. Gotta go through and try to do better each time...I mean it isn't like you're really dying. It is just..your golem, right?"
He went to step forward and paused. Hm...He noticed something off so he flagged it and went to a different safer looking tile. Status Step: 2 HP: 25 Flags: 0 - Used it to avoid horrible death. Instinctive moves: 1

Suddenly fire.
The last thing that Eva had been expecting was for a burst of fire to shoot upwards from the tile that she was standing on. As the fire burnt at her golem's body and her clothing, she leaped onto the closest tile in an attempt to get to safety.
...Or what was hopefully safety.Status Step: 3HP: 25/50 Flags: 0 Instinctive moves: 1

Fortunately, the new tile that she selected was indeed a safe one, and it was with great relief that she--
"Jude!"
Golem or not, it was still downright horrifying to have to watch a friend die. In the end, Eva found that she had to tear her gaze away, lips pressed into a thin line.
God forbid she let that happen to any of her friends for real. Certain that Jude would return in another golem, she took a deep breath and continued onto another tile.Status Step: 4HP: 25/50 Flags: 0 Instinctive moves: 1

Though, to be frank, the only way that she would be able to protect her friends would be if she herself lasted long enough and survived.
Eva was not at all pleased when she felt the tile slide out from under her, but "not at all pleased" was a great understatement to how she felt when her golem was sent falling into a pit of spikes.Status Step: 5HP: 0/50 Flags: 0 Instinctive moves: 1

"I think Caelius is laughing at us."
Here they were again with two fresh golems, ready to meet their doom in another gruesome death. Was this course any fun? No, of course not, but there was something in her that was now really determined to get through this course, no matter what it took.
Of course, it did suck when her first step had the tile exploding from beneath her. Fortunately, she managed to dive onto the next tile over before she was charred to a crisp.Status Step: 1HP: 25/50 Flags: 1 Instinctive moves: 1

NEW TRYIt was unsettling dying and then jerking back into his original body only to determinedly dive back in after a quick breather to regain his breath but there were things to be done. When he was back in a new golem he stepped forward..And got a heavy rock to the gut. Oof. He'll take it. Whatever. Just keep going. Status Step: 1 HP: 25 Flags: 1 Instinctive moves: 1

Good thing she had managed to choose a lucky tile to dive onto. Groaning, Eva pushed herself back up to her feet, rubbing the shoulder that she had slammed into the ground. Could golems bruise? She wasn't really sure.
...Welp. Next tile.Status Step: 2HP: 25/50 Flags: 1 Instinctive moves: 1
