User Image Red strands of hair fell into purple eyes and were promptly expelled with a lazy puff of air from the giant's lips, not that visibility was a problem. The all red lion enjoyed this time of the month, when the moon was full and bright, and UmiMekka was among the darker colors that didn't stand out, opposed to the day time where he's a walking target for normal sized or even smaller lions to prove themselves by taking down Goliath as it were. Honestly it was a nuisance, Umi didn't like fighting but as evidence he's still on his feet with no serious scars, he had obviously proven himself time after time.

While his feet followed the path that the moonlight laid out for him, Umi himself had no set heading, that is, until he heard the distinct babbling of a creek nearby. Curiously, he could not see it but he was to thirst to just dismiss the chance at some running water, but consequences to him, were more like obstacles meant to be overcame, so without much thought he headed in the direction of the sound.

Sharti was looking for trouble. It was a very bad habit of hers, and she could not help herself most of the time. Or so she liked to claim, when she was caught in her acts and made to explain herself. Usually, it did not work. She knew, though, that most folks didn't have a reason to believe her story that it was just 'in her genes', even if it was.

Because she really did just like trouble.

It was fun.

She wished she had picked a better time to look for it, though, as there were very few souls out and about this evening. She could not think of anything fun to do, either, which was dragging her down because she really didn't want to waste her time sleeping.

Boring.

She was laying near the water's edge, looking down in the water and waiting for a fish to swim by. Maybe she could catch one or two, and have a nice snack she did not usually indulge in. That would lift her spirits considerably.

As Mekka approached the water, a very fine scent wofted into his nostrels, his eyes narrowed in, he shook out his mane and his muscles flexed all down his body as if to wake-up; it was the scent of a female. The company of a female (for more than a few hours) was something that had been void from his life for longer than the large red lion would like to admit, and something he often thought of on nights like this.

Perhaps on this night, his thirst would be quenched by something much sweeter than water. Instead of following the sound of the babbeling water, his course altered in the direction of the smell and the female at the other end of it. His steps were slow and quiet as he kept calm and cool walking through the tall leafy bushes on his path. Suave and cool, Mekka stepped forward, not 6 feet away from the lioness and leaned down for a drink, pretending not to notice the lioness.

Sharti watched the lion as he walked to the water, smiling as she tilted her head at him and stared pointedly. She knew he was well aware that she was there, because he was trying so hard not to look at her. Why was it males thought they were so suave, when their attempts to look cool and detached just made them look silly?

But at least it did draw in her attention, which was perhaps the only goal, no matter how it was justified.

She smiled and bounced the short distance between them, splashing her paws in the water and getting his front legs with the spray, then she looked up at him in mock surprise, ears moving back a bit for effect, and she shook her head.

"I'm sorry! I didn't see you there. I was trying to catch a fish... I'm not very good at it..." Not the most truthful thing, though it drew on some facts. She had been thinking about fishing, after all. And now she was fishing for something else. Not anything in the water, perhaps, but the attention of this male. She smiled at him sweetly.

He was handsome, she decided, and she liked that. She had not spent much time with males, and found her instincts were on fire at the chance to get one to notice her.

A full bodied laugh echoed from deep within his trunk. Her rouse was as obvious to him as his was to her, but also in the spirit of the night he played into the game willfully. And he also knew how silly he looked, however, the female's pelt bouncing off of the moonlight was more than enough reason to do anything to keep her within his eyesight.

"They can be wily creatures! But under these circumstances I'd be more concerned about a mermaid catching me in those waters, lass." His baritone calming voice came with a natural chuff with his 'd's as if he was chuckling at the idea of the creatures he whole heartedly believed in.

"Dangerous vixens they can be, say anything to get a pirate into the waters to.. have their way with him in the depths." This was the kind of situations females tended to avoid with the towering red and maroon lion.
