Mitsu's eyes were hollow and unfocused as she made her way down the hallway with Shun on her back. The prognosis from the nurse had been less than favorable. While she had been able to heal the wound there was nothing she had been able to do for Shun's eye. The damage had been too great.
Trying not to let on how distraught this news made her Mitsu waited patiently for Nurse Cricket to do what she could before they were released. At least she didn't ask many questions, it wasn't uncommon for students to appear in a bloody mess.
Mitsu was allowed to help wrap Shun's injury, shown the best way to tend to it for later and given extra bandages before they were sent on their way. Bundling up what she could the lycan had hefted Shun up onto her back to carry him and now there she was, standing staring at the door to his room barely registering that they were finally back.
It seemed to take a new moments before she fished the key out and unlocked the door and made her way inside. With a slow steady pace she made her way to the bed where she finally stopped and eased Shun down.
"If y-y-you want to take your s-s-shirt off I'll grab a warm wash cloth to c-clean us up." She was trying not to stutter but it was hard to avoid. It was either stutter or just break down and cry and now was not the time for that.

Shun did not really want to be carried around. He personally felt that he could walk, but Mitsu did not leave much room for debate on the matter. It was a little hard to argue against it when she could easily pick him up. The news from the nurse was concerning but he wasn't all too surprised.
Once they were back to his room, he let out a breath and closed his eye for a moment. Cricket had done well to make the wound more comfortable to deal with at least. It still didn't feel great, but every little movement of his face didn't trigger a great deal of pain.
The Reaper breathed in and out for a few to relax, then slowly nodded to Mitsu. Opening his eye back, he sluggishly removed his shirt. It seemed that outside of the main injury to his face, he had a few other bruises and minor cuts from the rooms collapsing onto one another. Tossing his shirt aside, he turned his attention to her.
"You don't.. seem to be holding up all too well," he said quietly. There was a hint of concern in his voice.
He knew she was distressed earlier. And right now, the girl was stuttering.

Her eyes couldn't seem to leave the floor. They were focused like she had trouble just lifting her head. She had just started to turn and head to the bathroom when Shun spoke. Instantly her ears fell back her body going a little stiff and rigid. In truth, she wasn't fine, she wasn't holding up, what she had seen today was something she had never fathomed she would have to witness let alone encourage in her own silent way. Mitsu felt she might as well have been the one to draw the dagger across the Hunter's throat...and yet the person who had done it was right behind her. It wasn't that she blamed Shun, she could see the need but she almost felt there could have been another way.
That and his injury, was there nothing she could have done? Perhaps if she hadn't been so cautious and managed to land another blow the Hunter would have went down well before Shun's attack. Maybe if she'd tried harder when she had hit him she would have managed to take him down. If she had been more attentive, or maybe if she had forced Shun to go back sooner like she had tried to. Maybe those few minutes could have meant all the difference.
"I'm f-fine.." She said before she continued walking and disappeared into the bathroom and out of sight.
Her movements were almost mechanical reaching for a wash cloth and turning on the tap to run some hot water. While she waited Mitsu finally bothered to lift her head and at probably the worst possible moment. What greeted her in the mirror was a person she didn't recognize. She looked older, eyes worn from what she had seen, a streak of blood along her cheek from where Shun had tried to comforter and splatters of blood from Stacey. There was even a lone bloody feather in her hair which Mitsu was quick to fish out and drop like it was a hot iron.
The panic started to settle in then and Mitsu threw the wash cloth under the scolding hot water and scrubbed. She rubbed away the evidence on her skin until her flesh was pink with irritation and even then she felt like she wasn't clean.
Leaning against the counter Mitsu stared wide eyed at the blood running down the drain taking deep quick breaths. What could she have done differently? Would Shun have even listened? And would letting the Hunter go have really caused them more problems then they already had? It was too late to ask. Too late to do anything differently.
What felt like a long time after Mitsu finally emerged from the bathroom with the damp wash cloth. Her expression was blank as she made her way back over to the bed and sat beside Shun without a word and began to tend at the smaller wounds by gently wiping them clean. The area around her eyes looked a little puffy like it often did when she cried but the evidence of tears were not there.

"Wait.."
Too late. His wolf had already gone into the bathroom. Despite what she had said, he was certain she was just saying it. Shun would have gotten up and pursued her but he lacked the strength at the moment. The day had been exhausting for him and his body was wanting to just rest at this point. Rest and heal.
So instead, he remained, sitting on the bed.
Letting out a breath, he wondered just how badly she was taking everything. He was going to have to ask her once she came back out. In the meantime, he summoned his daggers. The blades were pristine as usual, as if they hadn't just slit a man's throat earlier. It was kind of strange. They had been bloodied before, from various fights and whatnot. But seeing Stacey's lifeblood on the steel earlier just.. felt different.
In general, he was having a hard time pinpointing how he felt about killing. In a way he didn't.. really feel anything. Was he supposed to? The reaper struggled a little more with that than the action itself.
A little later, Mitsu had returned to begin gently tending to his lesser injuries. Looking over at her, he noticed that her eyes were swollen, but no tear stains.
"You aren't fine," he said quietly as he sat there, "At all."

Even as Shun pointed out the obvious Mitsu continued to quietly tend to his wounds. Gently she scrubbed away the splatters of blood until finally she spoke again. "I...don't want to talk about it."
That was all she said, her voice as exhausted as she looked. It had really been a trying day both physically and especially mentally. Was she the only one having this much trouble? No, probably not. Israfel had fought until he was finally forced out the door. Mitsu hadn't been sure enough of her stance...did it make her weak to just stand by and let what she felt was wrong happen? More than likely. And some of the others had voted no. No doubt they were troubled with the outcome...but they hadn't been there to watch.

Shun furrowed his brow at her response, taking some time before he spoke up again. No doubt it had something to do with what had transpired, and now she was not wanting to talk about it with him. A part of him wondered if she now thought differently of him because he had just willingly took a human's life. But why did she stay?
"You must think poorly of me now," he said quietly while glancing back down at the weapons he wielded.
"I had to do it."
The Reaper wasn't going to make any excuses. But if she did think differently, then he was right all along in that she deserved someone better.

When Mitsu said she hadn't wanted to talk about it she had actually meant she didn't want to talk at all. She was tired and exhausted and wanted nothing more than to lock herself in the bathroom so she could drop the jack damn facade she was putting on and cry until she went to sleep.
She paused in cleaning at his words, finally pulling away as her eyes turned back to the floor. "I d-don't know who I am anymore. This...isn't me. I voted...." She trailed off then taking a deep struggled breath. "I...know the reasoning but there might have been another way."
Mitsu finally turned her head up then looking Shun in the face, her gaze instantly going to his injured eye. The tears started to well up then but didn't fall as a hand rose to gently rest against his cheek. "And I w-wasn't there to prevent this. I wasn't there to help Hel...I'm not...doing a very g-good job protecting anyone."

She didn't answer him. Instead, she said other things. The things that were troubling her. Grimacing, Shun dismissed his daggers and stared at the ground while hearing what she had to say. When she touched his cheek gently, he ended up leaning into her touch.. up until she began to blame herself for it. Then he pulled away.
"There was nothing you or anyone could do to prevent it. He struck me in the middle of my attack. The only other person who had ever been able to retaliate like that was Caelius," he said darkly, "I was careless. I under estimated him, and I paid for it."
It was said in a rather straightforward way. It was hard to say if he was looking down at himself for it. Most likely, he was. As for the whole life or death thing... he let out a sigh.
"Another way... Releasing him would have pinpointed his woes on us for certain. Depending on his state of being and what the Hunter policies are, he might have been slain anyway," he said before finally looking to her again. He tried to think for a few moments, then added a question for her.
"Did you only vote the way you did, because of me?"

Mitsu held her hand in place even after Shun pulled away. Her fingers slowly curled in on air before she drew back, her gaze falling to her lap. She said nothing more but instead sighed softly. It didn't seem she would be so easily convinced.
His question was also met with silence. Long drawn out silence as the mental struggle played across Mitsu's face. "I....I really don't know. I know it wouldn't have mattered no matter what I put but it wouldn't have made me feel any better to put no, knowing it would happen." She tried to explain. "Like I said...I understand the reasoning I don't want more of us to disappear, more of us to suffer and be weaponized. He knew names and faces and it was a greater risk to let him go than killing him but..." That's when the tears finally started. "But..." She couldn't seem to press passed that word, the dam holding back her emotions had broken.
She sniffled loudly rising off the bed. "Y-y-you should rest. Y-you need your sleep to feel better." Her voice was wavering and off as she leaned forward to press a kiss to Shun's forehead before pulling back ready to retreat to the bathroom and shut the door.

Listening to her response, Shun could see she was still struggling with it all quite a bit. A part of him was struggling to understand too. She knew why they had to do it but she still felt it was the wrong thing to do? He didn't... get that. While he was trying to wrap his head around this notion, he looked back at her, freezing as he saw the tears begin to drop.
For what seemed like a long time, he said nothing, even after she told him he needed to rest.
If she weren't so close to him, would this have happened? Would she have gotten involved in such a situation? Probably not. Not to mention she was blaming herself for his injury. Somehow, he couldn't help but feel it was his fault that she was having so much trouble with all of this. She said earlier she didn't know who she was anymore. It was something she was afraid of before, when he first admitted to her what he did in regards to his family.
"I'm not good for you... " he said quietly. Very quietly.

Despite how quiet Shun might have intended his words to be they still reached Mitsu's ears. Those ears fell back as she looked toward her reaper. Maybe it was true, maybe he was no good for her. A smarter person might have left, found someone safer to be with but Mitsu could just as easily leave him as she could split her soul in half. It just wasn't possible, not mentally or physically. She still loved him, despite everything.
"That's...not what I want to hear right now..." She admitted softly before she turned and quickly retreated to the bathroom. The door was closed and Mitsu pressed her back against it before sliding to the floor. There she was overwhelmed by everything at once. She looked to her hands that were covered in traces of blood from Shun's wounds and felt that blood would never wash away.
The tears flowed heavily as she curled in on herself, her hands gripping her head almost painfully tight. The sobbing started soon after, deep heart wrenching sobs that let the hours of pent of emotion flood out. Mitsu was a mess and it was going to take a while of crying before she could even think of putting the pieces of herself back together again to see what was missing.

Shun lifted his head as she spoke before retreated into the bathroom. Before too long, he was able to hear the muffled sounds of her sobbing on the other side. It was faint, but given how quiet the room was otherwise, he was able to pick up on it. It was... a completely and utterly heart wrenching noise. He wanted to go to her, but he wasn't sure what he could do right now. The Reaper started to try and get up, but his body wasn't really willing to do that.
Would seeing her only break her apart even more anyway?
Being around him.. was slowly destroying her. He had a feeling of this now. But he had already promised that he would never break away, not unless she wanted it. She really did deserve better.
Closing his eye, he slumped back onto the bed, then stared up at the ceiling. Despite how tired he was, he couldn't sleep. Not while he could hear her crying in the bathroom. Not while he knew she was falling apart and that he was likely at fault for it. It felt like it was ages that she was spending inside the bathroom too.
"What have I done.." he whispered to the air.

It was an hour before the sobbing finally subsided and the room was plunged into silence. It was another couple of hours after that the door to the bathroom finally opened and the lycan made her way out. Her top and pants had been removed, she couldn't handle the sight of Stacey's blood any longer. The clothes currently were stuffed into the small trashcan in Shun's bathroom. They would likely never see her room again.
On light feet she padded her way across the floor to Shun's bed and silently slipped under the covers. She said nothing but cuddled close, placing a hand at the side of his head to pull him closer to hold.

The sobbing had stopped, but Mitsu hadn't emerged from the bathroom. For what seemed like an eternity, Shun had just stared at the ceiling, thinking about this or that. There was a lot of things for him to think about right now, thanks to the events of the day.
When she finally came out, he glanced over at her, feeling her cuddling close to him. What was he supposed to do?
He really didn't know. Resting against her, his eye slowly closed. The warmth of her body and the feel of her holding him close was starting to lull him.
"I'm sorry..."
It was all he said right now. He was trying to stay awake, as he wrapped an arm around her in turn.

Gently Mitsu pulled Shun close enough so that his head was resting by her chest. There she cuddled him while stroking his hair. "Me too...I'm sorry too."
Shun had done what he thought was best and Mitsu couldn't even hold it together. Not indefinitely anyway. She had kept from breaking down in front of the others but the end result was once she was behind closed doors her emotions would get the best of her.
"Just rest for now," She said softly, her own exhaustion unwilling to claim her. Likely she would stay awake until her body finally forced her into sleep and that would be when the nightmares began.
