Star's janitorial duty should have taken four hours, meaning he should have been back to his and Tambrey's room around dinner time. But dinner time came and went with no sign of the lanky Grunt. After that, bed time came and went. On the upside, the room was nice and quiet in his absence. If not for the large black bag by his bed, Tambrey could pretend he'd never arrived.

It was 2 in the morning when the door to their quarters flew open, spilling light from the hall. Star occupied the threshold several moments, casting a shadow across the room. He didn't look very happy. He looked wet and had the strong bleachy smell of someone who'd been scrubbing toilets.

He entered the room, then slammed the door behind him.

She had remembered four hours.
She had also noted the fact that his bag occupied the room and had managed to stave off any temptation to snoop.
It had gotten the occasional frown of disapproval though, since she'd woken up from her nap.
It had been a couple of hours after Star and Lore had left when Tambrey had awoken. While Palu slept, she returned the bird to her pokeball and placed the ball beside the bed, within reach.
The quiet, she knew, was something she'd have to make the most of while it lasted and so she'd sat on her bed for roughly an hour reading a book that she hadn't had a chance to finish before the museum mission.
After that, she'd ventured out to clean up so that she could change for dinner, even though it was only to grab something to bring back to the room.
It was a slower walk, still, but she felt better about using her legs.
At bed time, her carton of juice, empty, (hm, that was a little disturbing, she hadn't been a fan of those before...) still graced the top of her drawer-set while an apple core graced an otherwise empty little cylinder bin.
She hadn't touched the dart since earlier.

The grunt, with a somewhat worried frown, and then the huff of an unsurprised sigh, had looked at the time, changed back into pajamas, then climbed into bed. It had not taken long at all, just minutes, to fall asleep and so she had been asleep for a while when Star returned.

His entry was jarring. She was in a much deeper sleep than the first time he had woken her up and she'd startled out of her dreams and found herself confused by the sudden light, sudden slamming of the door... and the very tall, bleach-smelling figure entering the room.
The scene was (and not helped by the content of her dreams, it had to be said) rather menacing and Star was only saved a repeat of the last time by the fact that Palu's pokeball, with it's round shape, managed to be knocked into rolling away a little as she yelled and groped for it.
Cell door was opening and closing! But she had pokemon this time! She di- where was the ball going! Her attempt to grab it and roll under the bed was further hampered by her bedsheets.
Seconds after his arrival, Star would be faced with a rather confused Tambrey, half on the floor, not entirely awake, as she grasped for a pokeball that had rolled just out of reach toward his bed.

Star watched, unimpressed as Tambrey had some sort of episode and fell out of bed, desperately grabbing for a poké ball rolling in the opposite direction.

Frowning, he crossed the small space, heels clicking on the hard floor until his boot pinned the wayward ball. A moment passed before he nudged it back in Tambrey's direction.

"Where is our bathroom? I require a shower." He was staring down at the tangled Rocket, looking tired and angry.

She was waking up.
The Galactic kicked the pokeball back. That was not what she expected.
Still, she would tell them nothing! They couldn't tell them anyth-... Had he just asked where the bathroom was?
She blinked up at him, head full of sleepy confusion, as she tried to process the odd request...
This cell looked.. a lot like her room.
That's what clicked it into place finally; the room, Star, the events of the day.
Her face flushed as she clutched Palu's ball to her, answering before she tried to get up.
"Uh... 'S a shared one... Wha' happened?" She was untangling herself now. Awake and keen to move away from any mention of what she'd just done. "Y'... smell funny." Her eyes narrowed. "And it's -really- late." In place of 'you woke me up' but with the same sort of tone.

Star's body went rigid as he was informed they had a shared bathroom. "Wh-what?? Shared you can't be- nnnghhh." He balled his hands into fists. It was another mark on the long list of insults. How was he expected to use a shared bathroom? It, like so many other things, was outrageous.

After a moment of quietly seething he dropped his arms back to his sides and stared down at Tambrey. "I smell.. like bleach." He shrugged off his coat and tossed it on the foot of his bed, then pointed at several white blotches on his shirt, "Look at this! Ruined!!" He snarled and started pacing. Monologue incoming in 3..2....

"I reported for duty promptly, as you'll recall. I was nothing but courteous but of course the Rocket on duty treated me like garbage. I explained in perfectly sensible terms that mopping, scrubbing and going anywhere near a restroom is well below my status and what did he do??" He stopped pacing and faced Tambrey, "The insolent whelp put me on restroom duty!!" His voice had gone from loud to uncomfortably high-pitched. He sounded like he expected Tambrey to be every bit as shocked as he was. "I protested and the arrogant swine refused to see reason. When no one would hear my complaints I was forced to relent and did the job, if only to get it over with. It was repulsive.. demeaning... unacceptable." He grunted and resumed pacing. Sweeping gestures had started accompanying his rant, "When I finished the work he inspected the facility and claimed I hadn't done the job properly. Which is of course, ridiculous. Just because I refused to place any part of myself inside a toilet or touch whatever filth had accumulated in the sinks does not mean my work was unsatisfactory. I explained that regardless of his opinion, I'd served my time, and attempted to leave. HE WOULDN'T LET ME!!" The Rockets next door could probably hear Star by now. "He actually used physical force to shove me back into the room and made me start all over again!!!" Star stopped pacing again. He was standing in the middle of the room now, hunched and breathing heavily, looking ready to strangle something.

On the upside, his monologue seemed to have ended.

"... I am." Tambrey replied to the unspoken part of Star's first reaction as she finished untangling herself and stood shakily; it had been a hard way to wake up.
She peered and fumbled to get her glasses on, sitting on the bed tiredly just after Star began to monologue.

She nodded warily as he stated he'd reported promptly; yes, she could agree there, at least- he'd gone quite soon after regaining consciousness.
The rest of the monologue was endured with her rubbing beneath her glasses at the bridge of her nose, then having to adjust them again after that.

"... g'nna wake people up..." She attempted to interject at one point as he started to get louder.
She listened to the whole thing, blinked at the spindly man and turned Palu's ball over in one hand.

"... How awful. You just... described a disciplinary janitorial assignment. Y'know if you'd just... cleaned the horrid stuff first, it'd have been over quicker?" She sounded as one might expect from someone woken up for this in the middle of the night; tired and a little notably irritated.

Star stared at Tambrey, blinking. "You.. you agree with that horrible man? Are you insane?? What I was subjected to was unacceptable! I have every intention of speaking with his superior!"
PostPosted: Sat Mar 31, 2012 8:34 pm

Tambrey gave up and took her glasses back off, putting a hand to her face before replying.
"No.. I mean, it's... there's really nothing to agree 'r disagree /with/. That /is/ janitorial. Y' scrub toilets and sinks... And sometimes it's worse than that... If you don't do it, you get made t' do it. /That/ is disciplinary."

She sighed at the last comment.
"D'you remember y' were going to make a 'dazzling' second impression? Seeking out the superior's probably just goin' to get you /more/ janitorial or... another dart or something." She put the glasses back on. "Not... exactly dazzling. Which, by the way, 's how the toilets and sinks are intended t' look after janitorial." She wasn't sure why she added the last part; it just sort of decided to tumble on out.

Star winced at having his own wording turned against him. He folded his arms, looking frustrated, "I tried to make a good second impression but.. well how can I be expected to make good impressions under such unreasonable circumstances?" Huffing a sigh, he picked up his bag, deposited it on his bed and started poking around inside it. He soon yanked out a towel, shampoo bottles and other such things.

"I take it ours wasn't the bit y' cleaned anyway, if you didn't realise about the shared bathroom thing?" She'd probably not be surprised if it had been and he just... hadn't noticed or something. "Uh. Well, you could try hard?" She offered up to his question of how to make a good second impression. "It's, I'm sorry, not that unreasonable a circumstance... 'S pretty standard for disciplinary from what I hear..." She watched him getting his things out. "I hope the hot water's still on". Another comment that she just couldn't help herself from.

"It is unreasonable.." Star muttered angrily. "It just means this whole place is unreasonable and none of you realize it." At the suggestion the hot water might be off he straightened up and glared, "Well if it isn't then whomever is in charge of it will hear about it until it is."

Gathering his armful of shower supplies, he turned and stalked out the door.

"... I don't know how to answer that, I really don't." Tambrey replied to the speech about the place being 'unreasonable'.
It was also a criminal organization that killed people rather than let them quit and had a very clear divide between different ranks.
"I also have no idea who that would be, so... I'll be ready to remove another dart?" She called after him.
Hm. How long would he be out of the room?
No, forget that... His last couple of entrances had -not- been things that she could sleep through.
Besides, if someone came to knock and complain at their door, she should probably be awake to placate them or at least pass the blame on to its rightful recipient.
She sighed, adjusted her glasses and sat up to read her book until he got back.
Frak, she was going to be tired tomorrow, she could tell.

After an overly-long shower, Star returned, looking generally displeased, but at least clean; hair still wet enough that his red spike was laying flat against his head. He was wearing a long dark towel around his waist that covered more than enough that he wasn't giving Tambrey a show. None the less, something about his posture said he didn't enjoy being exposed at all. It was subtle, but it was there. Maybe it was the scars. Without his shirt she'd be able to see they were as plentiful around his shoulders and chest as they were on his lower torso. He wasted no time in depositing his shampoo bottles on a table and yanking fresh clothes out of his bag. "I can't understand how you people can tolerate community bathing like that..." He muttered, despite the fact the showers had almost certainly been unoccupied this time of the night. "Does this place have any concept of privacy?"

Tambrey glanced up from her book when the other grunt re-entered, blinked, looked him over and promptly returned her eyes to the book.

"We... kind of tolerate it because we have to. I don't know about that ship but here 'n this building, you don't really get to do anything but tolerate the stuff that happens until y' work your way up." She explained, eyes having read the same sentence on her current page at least three times as he muttered,
"We make our own privacy- y'know, like what you have there; a towel, hiding behind a door, just occasionally there's a lock..."

"Hmpf..." Fresh clothes in hand, Star opened the door to his closet and stepped behind it to change. One thing Tambrey would never have to worry about was her new Roomate wandering their quarters half naked. "And Agents.. they get their own rooms?"
