Reina sighed happily as she dropped her belongings next to a bed and sat down heavily. She was currently in a small wood cabin near the lake, finally her endless requests for a week-long vacation had been approved by the higher-ups (if only to get her to stop harassing them) and she was finally, blessedly, alone. Now, Reina wouldn't consider herself a loner, but she did enjoy peace and quiet, which she got precious little of back at home. Between crazy criminals trying to blow her up, endless hours spent patrolling whatever dump they placed her in, and trying to find a Pokemon to help her (which was turning out to be harder than she thought) she was utterly spent.

After a few minutes spent just sitting there enjoying the silence and solitude she got to her feet, changed into a swimsuit, grabbed a towel and some sun-tan lotion and headed out the door to the lake-shore. She laid out the towel carefully and spent a minute applying the lotion then laid down. the feeling of the warm sun felt wonderful on her skin. It wasn't long before she started feeling drowsy and slipped into a light sleep. She was awoken not much later by an odd splashing noise, it wasn't the normal type of splash you would hear into the lake but rather the type of splash that is made deliberately by someone or something.

Quickly she got to her feet and walked to the water, scanning the vast expanse for anything that might have caused the sound. Before she could react, a orange shape erupted from the water and squirted her with a pathetically small stream of water then dissapeared beneath the blue water again. she scowled and glared at the spot where the orange something had vanished " Hey, what the hell was that for? Jeeze some Pokemon just have no manners." as if in response the orange blob returned this time only sticking its head out far enough to shoot a slightly longer, but still pathetically weak, stream of water at her then quickly sank below the water again. Reina growled " you call that a water gun? HA! i could do better than that!" once more the orange thing appeared, squirted her, and dissapeared again.

Reina narrowed her eyes, this stupid fish was interfering with her peaceful week. suddenly she had an idea, she hurried back into the cabin and returned moments later with a rod. " Alright, lets see how you like this she said and cast out the rod and sat down to wait. It wasn't long before she had a bite. She stood up and excitedly began reeling it in, as it got closer she was satisfied to see that whatever she had caught was indeed orange. When she had reeled it in far enough that it was almost out of the water she realized it was a Magikarp, no wonder it was so annoying!

The Magikarp, who until that moment had planned to squirt the two-leg-no-fins thing again as soon as it was out of the water, stopped dead, stopped squirming, stopped thinking, hell he even stopped breathing. The giant had the most wonderful shiny-thing on her head, of course he had no way of knowing it was her hair and was, if fact, attached to her scalp rather firmly.

With a joyful exclamation it resumed squirming and managed to remove itself from the rod and launch himself at her hair and clamped down on it. "owowowowOW" Reina exclaimed the stupid fish was in her hair! ugh, how gross, not it would be all slimy. She tried not to think about it as she reached behind herself and started swatting at the fish, trying to dislodge it. it took much swatting, shakeing and danceing around but finally the Magikarp could hold on no longer and dropped to the ground with a huff. Scowling Reina grabbed the fish and tossed him back out into the water. Quickly, she grabbed all her stuff and went back inside te cabin, giving up for the day, she would try again tomorrow and hope that the Magikarp was gone.

The next morning she woke up feeling refreshed and a bit more optimistic than before, it was ridiculous to think that that stupid fish had hung around, why would it? surely it had other fishy things to do far away from her. she grabbed her towel and sun-tan lotion, and after a moment of consideration brought her bag as well. she set herself up out by the shore again and pulled out a small MP3 player from her bag and layed down.

This time she enjoyed a good hour or two of the peace and quiet she so desired until she began hearing a horribly familiar splashing sound. She sat up and looked out at the water with dismay, there a few yards out was the same Magikarp from the day before. " ugh, why don't you just go away?!" she asked, not really expecting an answer. She stood up, grabbed a decently-sized shell and threw it in the direction of the fish. She missed horribly, and the magikarp just continued to sit there, staring. After a moment more it began to swim closer and closer to the shore, when it got within feet of dry land, Reina began backing away nervously.

Without warning, he launched himself out of the water and collided with Reina, knocking her down and knocking the breath out of her. as she collided with the ground and lay there trying to refill her lungs with air, he slid off her and flopped helplessly about on the ground, Without realizing it his flopping brought him closer and closer to her bag, and bumped into it. The bag fell over and the top flapped open and a poke-ball rolled out.

Now this Magikarp had no idea what a poke-ball was or what it was used for, and so had no idea what was going on when he bumped into it and was suddenly surrounded in a bright light, then the world was no more. Reina, who was up by now, watch in dismay as the stupid thing knocked over her bag, and managed to catch itself in one of her poke-balls. She watched in horror as it twitched, once, twice, three times then came the tell-tale ding that signaled a successful capture. It took her a minute to process what just occurred, the Magikarp had basically caught itself.

She knew she should be happy, she finally had a Pokemon, but seriously, why did her first pokemon have to be that pokemon! she groaned, there wasn't much she could do about it except abandon it. And somehow that didn't appeal to her, and anyway, didnt Magikarp evolve into Gyarados? Gyardos was pretty cool... if she could get the useless pokemon to evolve that is, it would be difficult, but hey, maybe she was up for the challenge.

Suddenly she was sure, she would raise the Magikarp as best she could and maybe one day if she was lucky she would have a Gyarados. With a firm nod she grabbed the pokeball and released the magikarp, wanting to get a good look at it before she named it. Overall it looked like a normal Magikarp, save for blue stars that dotted its body. She smiled, then sat down, holding the fish firmly so it couldn't wiggle free and get to her hair, and spent several minutes thinking of names.

Finally she decided on Aquarius, as it was a play on both its affinity to water and the stars on its body. " this it, your name will be Aquarius" she announced, but saw now change in the fish's expression which remained as blank and dull as always. She sighed and recalled the Pokemon and returned to her cabin. She'd had enough excitement for the day.
