Just like the fire department, this two story brick building was the only law enforcement in town. Upstairs are some offices and a tiny amount of holding cells. Downstairs is the gun lockers and more desks. When push came to shove these men and women did their best to survive and help those in need. Many of the police lost their lives and some of them still wander the streets in their swat gear, a zombie with armor. It's been mostly untouched it's just getting in that's the fun part.

~ Sgt. Patrick OHare ~ Currently In: The police dept. foraging for supplies ~ Mood razz leased ~Currently with: No one Patrick was rather pleased. He was expecting to find nothing but trashed rooms and and empty armory in the station. Instead he found enough ammunition for his weapons to take out hundreds of walkers. Patrick crosses his arms and frowns. Just because he had the supplies didn't mean he should go out and just start shooting things. The longer the walkers ignored him the longer he would be able to survive and help others. Sighing, Patrick unslings his ax and begins combing the building for survivors or undead. Two hours later finds Patrick on the roof of the Police station. Combing the building from basement to the top had been a tedious but necessary process. While he found no survivors, he did however find pockets of walkers here and there. He was more than happy to cut them down. He also found enough food in the building that was unspoiled. Those supplies could last him a week with care. His slaying and foraging done he made it to the roof and silently made his way to the ledge. He was glad he decided to use his ax instead of his pistol. From his vantage point he saw swarms of the undead shambling about in a daze. If he had used his guns he would have never made it out in one piece. Making his way back down to the first floor, Patrick began the long process of barricading key positions and making "choke points". The choke points were designed to force the undead into a huddled mass allowing him to take out many at once. Patrick begins to work.

HEX // BECCA is currently... Looking Deadly at Location with No one and Nothing Feeling Dangerous "Surely you're not all as stupid as you look..." Take a look to the sky just before you die It's the last time you will Well, what is this that I can't see With ice cold hands taking hold of me? ══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════ HEX, the less than cuddly half of Rebecca Anne Haxley's shattered psyche, made her way through the town on foot, slowly and surely, her tire iron in hand, a small hatchet on her belt loops and her crossbow and bolts on her back. Upon spotting the police station, she bit her lip, thinking. It might be stocked to the brim with guns and ammo... or it could be picked clean... or it could be full to the brim with the dead... or worse, cops. Call her old-fashioned (like, prehistorically so), but Hex very much believed in 'every man for himself' and doing what you had to do. Call her crazy (well, she was, but that was beside the point), but she somehow had a feeling that the oh, so wonderful officers of the law wouldn't particularly approve of all the looting and killing going on in the last few weeks. And if they didn't, well, that was fine, but she wasn't about to let them lecture her when looting and killing was what was keeping people alive. She didn't see the army doing anything to stop the walking dead from decimating their population. Cops, neither. Really, they were sort of proving how useless they were. There had always been those people, those anarchists, who said that, if the people really wanted to rebel, the could, and there'd be nothing that cops or soldiers or the government could do about it. This little mess the found themselves in sort of proved that. After all, the corpses shambling around didn't have guns, or nukes, or anything like that; just their teeth, and numbers. And boy, did they have numbers. She didn't remember the last time she'd seen a living person, but even from where she stood, safely hidden away, she could count six of the dead, just walking about like it was nothing. Like they were defying all laws of logic and reason by doing so. THE YOUNG WOMAN SIGHED, figuring that, worse case scenario, they'd lock her up. Which really was an awful case scenario, when she thought about it. On the one hand, as long as they were there, she could rely on them to feed her, keep her safe. If they weren't, well, she was locked in a cell, and if she couldn't get out, the dead probably couldn't get in. But, if that happened, she'd have to sit in that cell, watching the dead claw and reach for her as she slowly died of starvation or thirst... not appealing. And that was assuming that these cops were the good guys; the could be the dregs of humanity, those cops who'd used their position for their own benefit. Served and not really protected, but taken the perks. They could be murderers or rapists just as easily as any other person she met... but if they were, she'd kill them. She had plenty of practice with that.CONFIDENT THAT SHE COULD HANDLE whatever she found inside the station, she quickly dispatched the six Walkers between her and the building, and, finding the lower floor barricaded from the inside, bit her lip, debating. If was barricaded, so inside, she'd either find a horde of trapped dead people, or a horde of hiding living people. Both things sort of sucked. But, she didn't see any other options. If she broke in upstairs and found it crawling with the dead, she could just slip back out the window she came in, right? So, she set about looking over the building, trying to find a way in. Finally, she spotted a window with bars just wide enough apart for the tiny girl to be able to slip through, conveniently located right next to a tree. Figuring the shattering of the window would only benefit her, seeing as it would alert whoever was inside to her presence and therefore the room on the other side would quickly be crawling with the dead if such a thing were a concern, she shimmied up the tree quickly, and, using her crowbar, broke the window in. The sound was loud, echoing both in the area and inside the building. She sat on the branch, waiting. If there was anyone inside, living or dead, they'd be investigating soon enough. If no one came after ten minutes, she'd assume that whoever had barricaded the doors had starved to death and go on in.══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════ Crack of dawn all is gone except the will to be Now they see what will be Blinded eyes to see When God is gone and the Devil takes hold Who'll have mercy on your soul? ~ Sgt. Patrick OHare ~ Currently In: Investigating the noise on the second floor in the police station. ~ Mood:On alert ~Currently with: someone is there Having finished his work on the first floor, Patrick surveys it and is pleased. But his happiness at making a well fortified first floor is quickly smashed to bits. A window breaking on the second floor caught his attention. Cursing silently about his foolishness on neglecting the second floor, Patrick pulls out his revolver and checks to see that it is loaded. Going off his training in the military Patrick slowly makes his way up the stairs and enters the second floor. Taking a slow approach he begins clearing the second floor room by room. After about nine minutes he was down to the last three rooms and was wondering if maybe there wasn't a reason he heard glass breaking. Maybe it wasn't even from this building. Opening the door in front of him he enters gun first and spots the broken glass on the ground. He also spots the small young lady perched on the tree limb outside the barred window. In fact it looked as though she was getting ready to enter the premises herself. Patrick notices the proud and defiant look on her face. And to be honest her eyes and the way they looked at him gave him some pause. This was obviously someone used to roughing it and wouldn't let anything get in her way. Lowering his weapon into a ready position just in case Patrick speaks to her in his usual manner. "You know young lady, there is a front door you could have gone through. Although given the circumstances I do not blame you in the least for trying to find an unorthodox way into a possibly well defended building."The way he spoke was cheerful and humorous, but his eyes never let her out of his sight and his gun never went away. Patrick decided on a humorous way to speak mostly to let the young lady know he meant no harm. He also did it to show that unlike most survivors out on their own his mind was very much intact. Patrick waited for the young lady to either fully enter or exit before he introduced himself. Last thing he wanted to do was give someone his history only to wind up dead.

HEX // BECCA is currently... Looking Deadly at the Police Station with some guy? Feeling Dangerous "Oh, goody! Meeting new people! As if I don't have better things to do." Take a look to the sky just before you die It's the last time you will Well, what is this that I can't see With ice cold hands taking hold of me? ══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════ HEX WAS A BIT DISAPPOINTED when the man appeared. There went her 'one person died of starvation' theory. This guy must've been the one to set up the defenses, then. Great. And he thought the front door was an option? As if. She'd seen it; it'd been way too obvious a place to enter from. There were several of the dead standing just outside it, and given the current state of things, she'd assumed that whoever might be inside would take out anyone or anything that entered from there, just to be safe. But then, Hex was more of a shoot first, questions later sort of girl. Becca might be all interested in a person's life story, but all her other half cared about was surviving. That usually meant taking the backdoor. THE NINETEEN YEAR OLD wanted to roll her eyes at his tone. He apparently thought he was joking around with her, but she was in no mood for jokes. She heard a rustle below her, and looked down to see a walker looking up at her, reaching for her ankles. She rolled her eyes, laid down flat on the limb she sat on, and cracked it's skull with her tire iron. She then looked back at the man, her eyebrow arched. "Call me crazy," because she totally was, "but I think using front doors is, like, so last month." She exaggerated the valley girl tone, and flipped her hair for emphasis, then began moving towards the window. "Do me a favor? Don't shoot me. I really am not in the mood to be shot today." She climbed through the window, careful to avoid the broken glass, and frowned. "Posh digs. No, really. I mean, check out this furniture! It's so chic."HEX'S TONE WAS CASUAL, but her demeanor was anything but. She eyed the man, and his gun, waiting for him to drop it. If he didn't, she was standing close enough to thwack him with her tire iron. Probably break his wrist, make him drop the gun. It was a threat, and she really did not like being threatened. Really, it was rude. All she wanted was one little gun... maybe some food or a bullet proof vest. Now that would be useful... if zombies tended to go for the torso. Which, they didn't. But she could maybe get one of those heavy duty coats and use that instead... She ruffled her hair a bit, her eyes flashing, her entire stance and demeanor changing for a fraction of a second, so quickly that it was almost unnoticable. In that tiny moment, she was suddenly lost, hurt. Alone. And very, very afraid. But it was gone as quickly as it had come, and Hex straightened her shoulders, eyeing the man. "So, are you living here? Because right now, this is some prime real estate, my friend. Don't gotta be a gun nut or a cop to see the perks. Although being either of those would certainly help." Hex really hoped this guy wasn't a cop... but she had a feeling, deep in the pit of her stomach, that he was. Hopefully, he was a normal cop and not one of those rapey ones... or those lawful good types. Really, both ends of the cop spectrum totally sucked. Being in the middle was only slightly better.══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════ Crack of dawn all is gone except the will to be Now they see what will be Blinded eyes to see When God is gone and the Devil takes hold Who'll have mercy on your soul? ~ Sgt. Patrick OHare ~ Currently In: Police station talking with a "guest" ~ Mood:Confused ~Currently with: ??? Patrick wasn't quite sure how to respond to this girl. She spoke like a valley girl yet everything about her demeanor was anything but that. He also noticed the tire iron she was holding in her hand. Patrick lowers his fire arm to his side and stands up straight. He decided to lower his weapon for two reasons: One being that he just realized that he was inadvertently threatening his new "guest", the second being that he figured he could take on one small girl with a tire iron. As long as she was in front of him that was. He listens as the girl comments on the building and its interior design. He had the strangest suspicion she was both genuinely impressed, and was genuinely making fun of him. Deciding that no harm could come from answering her few questions, Patrick Speaks to the girl. "Don't worry I would never shoot a woman, my mother raised me better than that. I was actually in the middle of , uh, fortifying this building and wasn't expecting a guest so soon to be honest. This seemed like a logical building to occupy. It has weapons, some food and a lot of SWAT gear in it. I supposed the gentleman should introduce himself first so here it is. I am, or rather was, Sergeant Patrick OHare, U.S. ARMY." Patrick stops there and smiles almost ironically. The fact that one of the worlds top military branches was so useless against this threat was not lost on him. Finally holstering his gun, he looks at the girl and speaks again. "I do agree this is easily one of the best buildings in this area do to its assets. You are of course welcome to join me here. There are plenty of places to sleep and room to spare. I only ask one thing, that you help me at least fortify this place a bit. If anything it should slow down both walkers and anyone who thinks to sneak up on us. That and it would be nice to sleep without the fear of being a snack. Oh before I forget, what might your name be young lady? I don't need your history, but I would at least like to know the name of person I will be sharing this delightful building with."Patrick moves away from the door and waits in the hall while awaiting the young lady's answer. He moved away so he wouldn't crowd her personal space. She looked like she had been through hell and back. And he knew first hand how much people could change during this crisis.

══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════ THE VALLEY GIRL VOICE DROPPED with Hex's next words, her tone serious and ever-so-slightly annoyed. "Would never shoot a woman? Dude, no offense, but you're eventually not going to have a choice. Even assuming you're not counting the dead ones, I mean... bitches be cray. And it's sort of sexist. What, a woman isn't capable of being enough of a threat to warrant shooting? Get off your high horse; it's the end of the world. No room for treating girls like a delicate flower; if they're still alive, they're as much of a threat as anyone else." The brunette swung her tire iron like a baton, eyeing him, an eyebrow raised. Chivalry was dead, along with everyone and everything else. Apparently, this guy didn't get the memo. Hex honestly took offense to the fact that he assumed he wouldn't have to shoot her. Really, it was incredibly rude of him. She kicked just as much a** as anyone else who'd managed to keep their insides on the inside these days; she deserved the respect. And the acknowledgement that she could kill him just as easily as some guy. Was that really too much to ask? WHEN HE GAVE HER HIS NAME, she bit back a groan. Great. Not a cop. A soldier. That was such an improvement... not. Hex sighed, looking around the room. She found a surface and jumped up on it to sit, staring at him, her violet eyes hard and haunted. Once again, there was the flash of the other girl, the scared, quiet one, the one who can't handle this horror. But, Hex pushed her back, away from the forefront, away from the controls. That moron was going to get them killed one day, Hex was sure of it. When he asked her name, she smirked. He had no idea what a loaded question that was. She considered telling him, 'depends on the time of day,' but decided against it. If she wanted some supplies from the guy, she needed to be nice. At least a little bit. No matter how much it made her skin crawl. "I go by Hex. Everything else is history, and like you said, you don't need it."THIS WAS PUNCTUATED by the growling of her stomach, and she scowled. Now was so not the time... or what it? Actually, come to think of it, now was the best time. He'd already done most of the fortifying, and he'd mentioned that there was food... She grinned at him. "More than happy to help. With the fortifying and whatnot. Provided I get some grub in me. I tend to get extra bitchy when I'm hungry. Extra extra bitchy when I have to work on an empty stomach." She didn't bother to add that she was always bitchy; if he hadn't figured it out already, he would soon enough. She just needed him to put up with her long enough for her to get something to eat and take a quick twelve-hour nap (it was a joke, but God, didn't it sound lovely?). After that, if he wanted to kick her out because he couldn't handle her, that was fine. She was used to being on her own; people tended to get on her nerves. They were all either selfish or stupid, and she didn't have time for either. Perhaps she was part of the problem, being rather selfish herself, but it was only because the only people willing to have her back were the stupid ones. And besides, she could take care of herself. As long as she could get some sleep.══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════ Crack of dawn all is gone except the will to be Now they see what will be Blinded eyes to see When God is gone and the Devil takes hold Who'll have mercy on your soul? ~ Sgt. Patrick OHare ~ Currently In: Police station w/ Hex ~ Mood:Indifferent. ~Currently with: Hex Patrick almost rolled his eyes at the young lady in front of him. Acting tough was ok but she was overdoing it a bit. Her condescending tone went in one ear and out the other. It was a trick he learned in basic when he wanted to ignore people yelling at him. A bit childish yes, but effective. He waited for her to get it all out of her system and instead started to study the young lady. She was coming off as unbalanced and maybe deranged but this wasn't unexpected. As he watched he saw it again, the slight change in her look and personality. He blinked his eyes, he thought he saw it earlier but didn't give it a second thought. He was trying to remember where he saw that before when he realized she had finished her talk and her stomach was growling. Gathering his thoughts Patrick begins to speak, "Well first off miss Hex, was it? I meant I do not shoot women who are at a disadvantage to me. I have absolutely no problem in shooting anything dangerous in the head or breaking their neck." Patrick stops there and gives her a look that meant he wouldn't be afraid to take her out either. Before the girl could respond Patrick continues. "As for food there is enough for one person with my training for a week in the kitchen. You may have that I have my own supplies. But I will have to go out and get more in a few days. I already know where to find good unspoiled food so don't bother asking. And I also seriously doubt that your bitchiness has anything to do with if your hungry or not." Patrick finishes this last sentence with a grin. He grinned mostly because he wanted to irritate the young lass. She was very interesting to him and could be a valuable ally. He turns and begins walking down the hall to the stairs. As he reaches the stairs he calls back to Hex. "Feel free to rummage around. We can do the second floor later once you get settled in. No hurries the barricades are just to slow down anything that gets to them so we can shoot them."

══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════ THE YOUNG WOMAN gave the man a small, sardonic smile. So, he'd caught that, eh? Good. It meant he wasn't stupid... or at least not that stupid. Of course, that meant he was pointing more toward selfish, which could potentially be more dangerous to her... if they ended up in a dangerous situation. That was the thing about selfish people, they tended to avoid those. Something to do with keeping their skin intact. So, she was at less risk having to worry about him getting her into trouble, but more risk of his not having her back. Which was fine; she did well enough on her own, anyway. "Key word there was 'extra,' hun. You're right; I'm always bitchy. But I can at least be the tolerable sort of bitchy if I'm kept in a good mood... most of which tends to be tied to food and sleep nowadays. S'not like I've got any creature comforts." Really, she'd kill for a bath, but there was no way that was happening any time soon, if ever again. She'd just have to do like her ancestors and stink up the joint. She'd given up on trying to diffuse the stench a week ago; by now, she hardly smelled it.HEX HOPPED FROM THE COUNTER SHE'D SAT ON, eyeing him expectantly. She didn't know where anything was in here, after all. Perhaps he should be so kind as to show her? When he started for the door, she smiled. "I've got some canned goods. All the label's are ripped off, though, so it's sort of a crapshoot. Opened a can of peas a couple days ago; hate the damn things, but it would've been a waste not to eat 'em. I've also got... some beef jerky. And that's it. Ate all my granola bars already. Same with the candy. Sort of sucks." Hex considered herself fortunate that she was so slight. It was extremely easy to slip around unnoticed, even by the dead, and procure supplies. Really, she'd be carrying a heckuva lot more right now, if she could carry it. Plus, she'd gotten cornered a couple weeks back and had to ditch a whole duffle bag of supplies. She'd replaced the most important items, but was seriously lacking in food now.SHE STARTED FOR THE DOOR, following the man, her eyes curious and intent. He knew where to get food. That alone was enough to endear him to her, at least in a practical sense. Scavenging was hard. Finding a special place you could return to again and again was a Godsend these days. She could hunt well enough, but she wasn't quite sure eating wild game was a good idea these days. After all, no one knew what had caused all of this. That meant that anyone who knew where to get food was valuable to her. His words made her wonder, though, if he intended to share that knowledge. It wasn't like she'd stab him in cold blood and take over his turf; she might be a b***h, but she was in this for survival and respected anyone else who felt the same. So long as they didn't cross her, she wouldn't cross them. Honestly, if he turned out to be capable of handling her attitude and didn't get all overbearing on her, this could work... for a while, at least. "Kitchen?" she asked simply, her eyes hard but not wary or threatening. If he was willing to give her a couple hours to eat and maybe catch a short nap, she'd be more than happy to help him do whatever fortifying he wanted. A couch to sleep on sounded like the best thing she could imagine right now.══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════ Crack of dawn all is gone except the will to be Now they see what will be Blinded eyes to see When God is gone and the Devil takes hold Who'll have mercy on your soul? color=darkblue] ~ Sgt. Patrick OHare ~ Currently In: Police station w/ Hex ~ Mood:bored ~Currently with: Hex Patrick listens to hex describe her supplies and nods his head. He knew that sometimes people ripped the labels off as a sick joke for anyone else who happens to pick up said items. He assumed a thoughtful face when she mentioned a whole duffel bag full of supplies. He made a mental note to ask her its whereabouts later. Any and all supplies were a godsend indeed. He also noticed a faint smell in the air. His first thought was that it was him, his last shower was a few days ago. To his surprise he noticed it came from his guest. He would have to work that detail into his next speech subtly. He led the way to the first floor and stopped in front of the what used to be the chief of police's office. Turning around to face his guest a thoughtful look was still present on his face. Anyone looking at him could almost hear the gears turning. Coming out of his thoughts he speaks to Hex. "Yes unfortunately many people find it funny to rip off labels to make anyone else to pick it up suffer. They also do it so we cant see the expiration date causing the unlucky person to be sick. And as I dont need to tell you those who are weak cannot hope to survive here. Patrick stops there for a second and sits on one of the few unbroken chairs and mentions for Hex to do the same. He didn't really expect her to but then again she often did and said unexpected things in the first few moments of meeting her. After moving his hair from his eyes and making a mental note to cut it next chance he got he spoke again. "When the time comes I can show you the best spots to find supplies in this town. I have plenty of bags stashed around this town to keep us in good shape. And it is not really a Kitchen, its more of a break room. But it has a microwave and a fridge and a sink. Its down the hall second opening on the left. The bathrooms are on the right."Suddenly standing up Patrick stretches a bit and grabs his bag and pulls out a change of clothes. Putting them under his arm his speaks to Hex again. 'Well I do not know about you but I am going to go to the shower room and get cleaned up a bit. Being clean on the outside will help us not get sick and may help us get by unnoticed if we do wander outside. The gun cage is in the backroom through the old chief's office."Patrick walks down the hallway to the room marked 'Showers' and starts the process of being less smelly.

HEX // BECCA is currently... Looking Deadly at the Police Station with Sarge Feeling Dangerous // Feeling Overwhelmed "Supplies all over town? My kinda guy..." "Who is this guy? Where am I? Oh, what mess am I in now?" Take a look to the sky just before you die It's the last time you will Well, what is this that I can't see With ice cold hands taking hold of me? ══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════ HEX FOLLOWED THE SARGE AND, when he indicated she should sit, pulled up a chair. She spun it so the back was facing him and sat astride it, her arms over the back. She gave him a small smirk. "Yeah, fortunately canned goods tend to keep. And, when they go bad, it's usually pretty easy to tell. Had a girl I ran into a couple weeks back get all up in arms with me over a can of carrots I'd tried to toss. Told me I was wasting food. They were moldy, like, visibly. She ate 'em and got sick. Had to ditch her after a couple days. Felt bad, but she was gonna get us both killed. 'Sides, she had some guy following her like a lost puppy. I'm sure he took care of her." Hex forced a bit of regret into her voice, truly felt but usually forced down into the dark recesses of her mind. She didn't typically want people to think she had any regrets. But, in this case, she thought it'd be better that her new companion know she had a heart, even if it were locked down in a box. But, she also wanted him to know, that if he decided to be stupid, she'd be gone faster than he could blink. She wasn't going to let some dumbass get her killed.THE BRUNETTE WAS CURIOUS when he mentioned having bags hidden around town. Bags of what, exactly? Guns, food, water? They must be pretty well hidden, then. She'd been all over town, and done a fair bit of nosing around, and she'd not found a single one. She wondered vaguely, if 'when the time comes' meant when they ran out of goods here at the base, or when he determined he could trust her. The first would certainly come sooner than the second. She didn't exactly scream trustworthy. Mostly because she wasn't... at least, not if they didn't make it worth it. But, if he was smart enough to have bags stashed all over town and to fortify a police station, he was definitely the sort of person who showed potential to be 'worth it.' All he had to do was prove he wasn't some idiot bleeding heart or a complete a*****e and she'd follow his every command (provided they were within reason, of course). HEX ROLLED HER EYES A BIT when he told her it wasn't much of a kitchen. She'd not really been expecting a proper kitchen, after all. It was a police headquarters, not a bakery. She stood, her backpack clanking. She dropped one strap and swung it around, digging for a moment, gazing up at the ceiling. "And today's lucky winner is..." She trailed off, pulling a can and can opener from the bag, and popping the opener on the rim. She gave it a small twist, then held it to her nose, sniffing. "Corn. And still good." She glanced at Patrick. "You want a can? It'll be the closest you've gotten to a home-cooked meal in a while, I'd wager." She shifted her weight from one foot to the other, waiting a second before walking in the direction he'd indicated. Wasn't like she wouldn't be able to hear him from there.AT THE WORD 'SHOWER,' Hex's eyes flashed again. She lost her footing for the briefest of seconds, and her hand went to her head, groaning. She gave her head a shake and then walked to the 'kitchen,' her teeth gritted, trying desperately not to let it happen. She could feel it, that weight, that shifting, clawing feeling in her mind. But no, this was not the time. It just wasn't. There was no stopping it, though. She leaned against a wall, and then slid down it, collapsing to the floor. The cold, hard front the woman wore melted, her eyes softening, growing terrified. In a matter of seconds, her entire demeanor had changed dramatically.BECCA SAT ON THE FLOOR, her eyes wide and wild, obviously afraid. She could hear the faint sound of the dead outside, the occasional moan or groan. The movements of another person as well, or she assumed it was a person, because there was no way Hex was hanging out with a corpse. Or, was she? What had Hex been doing here? She looked around, hoping for some hint as to what her other personality had been in the middle of when they'd swapped out. Usually something triggered the change, but she had no idea what it could've been. She stayed there, on the floor, vaguely aware of the smell of corn, the liquid spilling from a can through the small opening Hex had cut in it. She had no idea where she was, what she was supposed to be doing, or who she was here with. But for the life of her, she couldn't make herself stand up and investigate. That wasn't her forte; she was the scared one, the one who couldn't handle this. Why now, why now?! She curled into a ball, her arms wrapping over her head, and she shook, trying to calm down. This was too much, too much...══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════ Crack of dawn all is gone except the will to be Now they see what will be Blinded eyes to see When God is gone and the Devil takes hold Who'll have mercy on your soul? ~ Sgt. Patrick OHare ~ Currently In: Police station w/ Hex? ~ Mood:refreshed ~Currently with: Hex? Patrick thoroughly enjoyed his shower. Yes he only took ten minutes, but he did a good job nonetheless. While in the shower he thought about his new guest. This Hex was , different. Oh she was dangerous, extremely. But she was also useful, very useful. He almost smiled at her attempt to prove that she wasn't a complete b***h. She seemed to be resourceful in any case. He may even let her in on a few of his stashes. Finishing his shower Patrick redresses and heads for the kitchen. Patrick reaches the kitchen and is met with a rather confusing site. Where there was once a brash psychopathic little girl, was now a crying child. This was most unexpected. He was torn between going to check on her and leaving her be. Decisions, decisions what should he do? Sighing, Patrick decided to take a gamble. "Ahem, um Hex you alright in here? Geez I was only gone for about ten minutes or so. If you missed me that much you should have told me so." Patrick put on his best smile and stayed far enough back just in case his friend decided to try and beat him for his cheek. Now that he had a few minutes to look at Hex he noticed a few things were "off" about her. It was like her whole demeanor broke down. He couldn't help but think she might have PDST. If so this brought on a whole new list of problems.

HEX // BECCA is currently... Looking Deadly at the Police Station with Sarge Feeling Overwhelmed "Play it cool, play it cool... nothing's wrong, nothing's wrong..." Take a look to the sky just before you die It's the last time you will Well, what is this that I can't see With ice cold hands taking hold of me? ══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════ BECCA FLINCHED AT THE SOUND of a man's voice, making an odd little squeak sound at his sudden arrival. Her legs splayed and her hands hit the floor, and she stared up at him, still rather shaken, but at least less afraid. He'd spoken as though he and Hex were friends, or at least on friendly terms, since Hex didn't really have friends per say. Becca didn't think the other girl liked anyone... of course, she only knew Hex through the journal entries they wrote back and forth, a habit they'd been taught at a young age, before she'd been medicated to keep the brash young lady silent. Their therapist had thought that the two of them 'talking' back and forth might supplement a process of merging for them, that they would eventually become one. It'd never worked, and eventually they'd given up. But to this day, whenever they swapped, they wrote to one another, keeping in touch like some strange, twisted pen pal. It boggled the mind...THE TEEN BLINKED, realizing she was still staring at the man and at a loss for what to do. She couldn't tell him that she wasn't Hex; people tended to ditch them when they realized that there was something so fundamentally wrong with their psyche. SPD made them unpredictable, and therefore unreliable. Becca had learned that early on. She'd been with a small group of survivors, suddenly shots had fired, and she went black. The next thing she remembered was coming to and being alone. Hex had written an apology, saying she hadn't thought to keep their condition a secret; the group had decided they were unstable and unsafe, and left Hex alone. This had been followed by 'You're on your own for a bit, so do us both a favor and don't get us killed. I'll be really pissed if I wake up with a bite or some s**t.'THE BRUNETTE TOOK A DEEP BREATH, trying to compose herself. After a moment, she stood, trying to mimic Hex's haughty, bitchy stance (which was rather hard, seeing as they'd never, you know, met), eyeing the man. She had no way of knowing how long it'd been since the last time she'd been 'out,' and how long since then Hex had been with the man before her... she hoped to Heaven that there was a note explaining the situation, because if not... She pushed that thought away, giving the man what she hoped was a dismissive stare. "Miss you? As if. I just... Had a moment, yeah? Happens sometimes. People can have moments, you know." Becca recalled the can of corn, and crouched to pick it up. Before she stood, she winced a bit. Hex would've bent over. She was like that. Brash and showy. Far less genteel than Becca was. But, she played it off, her hand going to her back as she stood as though it hurt a bit, holding the can the way a snobbish woman would hold a drink, her other hand at her elbow. She figured she must've been about to... heat up the corn! She realized there was a microwave in the room. Oh, happy day! Warm food! She didn't remember the last time she had warm food!BECCA WONDERED IF PERHAPS this place were somehow safe from the Undead, and that had been what led them to switch. Hex tended to take over when the situation got stressful, and Becca usually just let her keep control, because there wasn't much about the current state of things she cared to be there to see. But, sometimes Hex... got... tired, sort of. Not in body, but in spirit. Becca did the same, although she'd rarely had opportunity to of late. And whenever that happened, they switched. Maybe Hex was tired... and maybe she'd felt safe enough to let go for a bit. That must be it, then! Becca gave the man before her a smirk. hoping her eyes were hard and cold, like Hex's would be. She had the hard part down, but the cold, not so much. She was a fair bit friendlier, and more trusting, than her double. But, she couldn't let anyone know that; she had to hide her secret. So, for now, she'd have to be Hex... and how hard could that be, really? As long as they were safe, of course.THE BRUNETTE ROLLED HER SHOULDERS BACK, adopting that haughty stance again, and looked down her nose at the man (which was hard, since he was taller than she). She held that for a moment, then sauntered the rest of the way into the kitchen, looking through the cabinets for bowls or something to heat the corn in. Microwaving cans was generally a bad idea. She found a ceramic coffee mug and smiled, then flashed a toothy grin over her shoulder. "I forget, did you say you were hungry? You're free to anything I've got... long as you plan on replacing it in the near future." There, that sounded like a proper, Hex sort of response. Offering help, because Hex was a firm believer in the 'I'll scratch your back if you'll scratch mine' mentality. Becca preferred to simply give and assume other would return the favor when and if they could, but then, she was an optimist. But, she had to play a part... meaning she needed to be stingy and at least seem mistrusting. She hoped that Hex and the guy hadn't been together for too long... and that they weren't close. She had a hard time imagining Hex getting close to anyone, but hey, anything was possible. She blanched at the thought that the two of them might be... intimate, and hoped that they weren't, because she had no idea how she would handle that. She needed to find some alone time to read Hex's new entries, and fast. But, for now, she'd just pretend she knew what was going on... shouldn't be too hard... as long as she didn't need to know the guys name.══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════ Crack of dawn all is gone except the will to be Now they see what will be Blinded eyes to see When God is gone and the Devil takes hold Who'll have mercy on your soul? ~ Sgt. Patrick OHare ~ Currently In: Police station w/ Hex? ~ Mood razz hilosophical ~Currently with: Hex??????? Patrick stood there at a loss, he was pretty sure he heard Hex squeak in terror. He shook himself mentally, maybe he had water in his ears? He watched as the young woman got up and stared at him. Soon enough the haughty bitchy attitude was back. Or at least he thought so, it sounded off, forced even. It was like she was trying to put on a mask to hide....oh maybe that was it. Patrick smiled a bit and spoke. "Oh I see what your going through Hex. Its ok it happens sometimes. I have seen hardened soldiers with years of battles under there belts go through this. I was starting to think I was hearing things but now I know what you have. You dont need to hide it anymore. Post traumatic Stress Disorder is actually very understandable considering what everyone left alive is going through right now. Dont worry my lips are sealed, I do need to sleep at one point." Patrick laughs a bit at his last remark and watches Hex scurry about the Kitchen. Maybe he was tired but something seemed off in her walking about as well. Maybe the PTSD was worse than he thought. But the next remark from Hex really worried him. She just smiled at him. A real smile not a sarcastic one like did did a few seconds ago. Further more she told him to replace the food after he already said he had more than enough supplies strewn about. Was memory loss a part of PTSD? Either way he had to approach the carefully. "Uh Hex you feeling alright? I told you to go ahead and eat your own supplies as I have my own. And only fifteen minutes ago I told you about the supplies I have around the city. Your PTSD must be worst than I thought, you are starting to suffer from memory loss. As soon as you eat some corn I insist that you go lie down and rest. There are some cots in the room over there to the left of the restrooms."Patrick's medical side was taking over now. He could act all hard and tough as much as he wanted. But the long hard truth was that he was a protector. He knew Hex could probably take care of herself but her stranger than her normal strange behavior had him worried. Normally he would check for a fever but he valued the use of his arms too much to try that. Patrick sits down and picks up an old newspaper and pretends to read it. In actuality he was watching Hex very carefully.

══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════ BECCA WASN'T SURE WHAT TO THINK when Hex's... companion? decided that they... she, Hex, she, had PTSD. He seemed calm enough about it, understanding... that was good, right? Admitting she had a problem and not immediately wanting to kick her to the curb? He even mentioned wanting to sleep so clearly he didn't think her condition was so bad that it warranted not trusting her. Although, if he trusted Hex... they can't have known each other that long, then. No one would ever make the mistake of 'mothering' that tough as nails, hardass b***h. Which is exactly what Hex wanted everyone she met to think she was. If she hadn't known this guy long enough to convince him that any attempts to take care of her would be met with a tongue-lashing, they can't have been together for more than a couple of days. Which, on that note... if she was going to be Hex, she needed to keep up the act.THE BRUNETTE KEPT HER BACK TO THE MAN, not daring to look at him, sure that if she did, her mask would fall through. She gritted her teeth, tried to summon some spark of anger, or moodiness, or something, anything that would lace her voice with venom. Her eyes sparked as she landed on a memory, and her stance stiffened, her back straightening. "Don't start trying to diagnose me and stick me in some stupid little box, got it? Everyone's got issues; mine are not up for discussion. Just know that however bad you think they are, they aren't bad enough to get me killed. Or anyone else." There, that was good, right? The first bit was taken almost word for word from one of Hex's old journal entries, from long ago. That sentence had been one of the first things to make Becca realize just how different she was from her other half. Becca had craved a diagnosis, wanted it so badly it'd almost hurt, because a diagnosis meant they could start figuring out how to fix her. But Hex didn't think they needed to be fixed, mostly because Hex had always been convinced that if they 'fixed' Becca, she'd disappear completely. Sometimes, Becca worried the girl still felt that way..SHE BARELY CONTAINED THE URGE to slap herself in the head when he answered her question concerning food. Of course he'd literally just answered that same question, of course. Because of course this would've been the one time Hex would've actually asked someone... wait! Hex offered to make him food! Which meant Hex was still working her 'hey look how helpful I am' bit, meaning that they had to've just met! Becca barely managed to keep the glee from her face. Oh, thank God! No more worries about remembering things, no more worrying about saying the wrong thing. They can't have known each other for more than a few hours at the most! STILL, THAT LEFT BECCA WITH THE PROBLEM of how to explain asking those questions again... she didn't want him to think that she was suffering from some hardcore mental issues (or would know she was be more accurate?). If she got them kicked out of this place, Hex would kill her... it was a silly thing, to be worried about a person she could literally never meet being angry with her, especially when Hex couldn't actually hurt her without also hurting herself, but Becca had never been able to shake the feeling that one day Hex would look at something she'd done to screw up, say "******** it," and Becca would wake up bleeding out while some dead thing chewed on her toes. Ridiculous, but she worried about it. So, Becca tossed her hair over her shoulder and looked back at the guy, her lip curled. "I don't have memory loss. I was just making another offer, giving you another chance to say you were hungry. What's that saying... "Women don't ask you to repeat yourself because they didn't hear you the first time, they ask you so you have a chance to change it"? If we're both stuck here, might as well pool our resources. I find it hard to trust a man who doesn't want to split the supplies... makes it seem an awful lot like he's gonna ditch me, ya know?" She paused, turning back to the kitchen, gathering up a bowl and pouring the corn into it before popping it into the microwave. While it was cooking, she turned to the guy, crossing her arms and looking down her nose again. "But, I'm not stupid, so if you're going to continue insisting I lay down, that's cool... provided I don't have to worry about waking up surrounded by corpses of the still-moving variety." Now that was honesty. A nap sounded lovely, because as rested as Becca's mind might feel from being locked up tight for however long, she did share her body with Hex, and Hex had obviously put it through more than a little abuse. It ached in all sorts of odd places, and her muscles felt like they'd been running laps for hours. She wasn't going to argue with an order if it meant she could catch a few winks... forty would be lovely, but she doubted anyone got that much sleep anymore. Maybe ten or so would be good enough for now.══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════ Crack of dawn all is gone except the will to be Now they see what will be Blinded eyes to see When God is gone and the Devil takes hold Who'll have mercy on your soul?
