This is a private RP between: Malo and Kennard
Where: The castle gardens What's happening: The jovial jester meets the future executioner for the first time.
It was an extremely boring day, as it often was for the infant Litwick. He bobbed up and down the rows of shelved books in the library, picking up a book at random and looking through it. These were boring. They were all big tomes with small print and no pictures. He got bored of this quickly.
So instead he started to tumble and do rolls through the large aisles. He was soon laughing and giggling and banging into things. "MALO!" He stopped and frowned. "Yuh?" "Keep it down, please. And you know the rules. You're going to break something." Malo stuck his tongue out and drifted out.
Preston sat at his desk, doing scholarly pursuits. He glanced up as the litwick approached. "Don't touch anything, Malo. I'm busy." "Whatcha' doin?" "Routing a map. It had to be just right." "oh...can I watch?" He drifted, bobbing around the Noctowl's head. "No, I need to concentrate." "Oh..." He paused. "Are you done now?" "No, Malo." "Will you read it to me?" "Malo! Please...Just be patient. This is really important." Malo pouted and folded his arms. Preston shook his head and lifted his feather pen, digging into his scraps and offering Malo a few pieces of paper and some charcoal. "Why don't you draw?" Malo's eyes brightened. "Yeah!" He took the paper and brushed his cheek up against Preston's. The noctowl nervously grabbed his inkwell so the affectionate boy wouldn't splash or spill it. "Yeah yeah...."
Malo settled down on the floor and hummed as he drew a big, smiling sun and what looked like some kind of four legged animal. "Preston?" "What?" "Does this look right?" "Yes, Malo." He didn't even glance at it.
The litwick pouted and drifted up, lowering the picture infront of his face. "Malo..." "Does it, really?" "YES, ITS FINE." He batted at the ghost. "Shoo!" Malo frowned as he was cast aside. "Preston?" "Malo, go outside and play. Please. I'm busy." "..." The litwick frowned, then brightened. "Okay! I'll draw some flowers!" "Good idea. Now shoo."
Malo took his paper and charcoal out of the library, leaving the door open, which annoyed Preston beyond belief. He floated out through a large hallway window and down into the garden.
It was an overcast but warm day. Malo landed and stomped about, looking for something pretty to draw.
There! A large, beautiful rose. He plopped down on the grass and set to work, his tongue sticking out as he sloppily doodled the red flower. Preston would be so impressed! He hummed as he drew, getting charcoal all over his hands.

Kennard had just visited the kitchen. Thus, as he made his way through the rose garden towards the guard barracks, he was tottered along with a very big belly. But as usual his eyes had been bigger than his stomach. In one held he held his axe, dragging it along the ground behind him, and cradled in the other was as much food as he’d been able to carry. A few pies, bread rolls, fruit and a muffin. He would occasionally stop, dipping his head in an attempt to nibble anything that was close enough to his mouth.
As he came slowly around the corner, the bear spotted Malo and he shuffled over, giving a bright smile. “Whatcha doin?” He asked as he got closer, peering at the other infant curiously. He had never seen anyone his own age before, having spent the majority of his time after hatching being spoiled by various members of castle staff. In fact, it was rare for him to be on his own, and no doubt one of the guards would come searching for him sooner or later….
His ears twitched and leant forward, eyeing the flame on the Malo’s head. “Oooooh.” His movement caused the muffin to roll off the food pile and drop to the ground. “Oh.” Kennard pouted.

Malo turned as the teddiursa approached. It sounded more like a herd of elephants with the axe dragging behind him. Malo batted his eyes at the bear, then a grin pulled across his face. All that food! It made his belly roar just looking at it.
"I was just looking at the flowers." Malo said quickly, eyes darting as he put his paper and charcoal down. The drawing was terrible, mostly scribbles now. He got to his feet, wobbling a bit, and walked over. He rarely walked, since he could float, and it showed.
He stooped and picked up the muffin, gobbling it down and licking his lips. "Where'd you get all that yummy food?" He'd never met anyone his own age either, since he was mostly kept in the library. He'd seen eggs though.
His flame burned brightly and his grin beamed more so. "Sorry to be rude, but...what ARE you?"

The pout quickly slipped away as the strange Kennard-sized candle got up and the bear gave his biggest and best smile. He watched Malo gobble up the muffin, happy to share that little bit (well, it had been on the ground) but his arm tightened a little bit around the rest of the food. “From the kitchen.” He replied proudly.
The bear blinked as the fire grew brighter. “I am Kennard.” The bear answered and shuffled forward a few more steps so he could look at the drawing. “Hm…” He made a ponderous sound and then nodded. “It looks good. Needs more blue.”
Kennard did love the roses in the garden, but he had a habit of stumbling into them, and that was never fun.

Malo looked eagerly at the rest of the food, but he'd have to steal it later. For now, he walked beside him. He knew who he was now, but not what he was. "i'm malo. a litwick." He waved the flame on his head back and forth as he toddled after his new friend.
"Oh...Well I only have black." He frowned. "Preston says that colored stuff is too 'spensive to waste on goofy drawings." He shuffled a foot with dissapointment, then walked a circle around Kennard, looking at him from all angles. He came from behind and floated up, shooting a hand over kennard's shoulder and swiped a tart, gobbling it down.

“Malo.” Kennard repeated and nodded. “Litwick.” It still did not occur to him to explain what species he was. He shuffled forward a bit to get a better look at the picture. “Ah…”
He was busy trying to work out where they could get more colours from when the tart was yanked out from his grasp. Kennard didn’t move, just stared down at the rest of his food a sad expression. That tart had looked ever so delicious.

Malo licked his lips and paused, some tart filling on his cheek. "That was good and it gives me a great idea! We'll...substi....subbbstiiiiii.....substoot." He dropped cross legged before his drawing and dipped his finger in the red goo on his cheek. He pushed his finger onto the paper and turning the rose a sloppy red.
"See? Think there's more colors in the tarts?"

Kennard watched as Malo dropped down and used the tart filling to turn the rose red. It was a haphazard way to colour something, but the bear was fairly impressed. Except that it would mean wasting the innards of some very delicious tarts. “One of them is blueberry.” He said eventually.
He knelt, putting all the food on the ground in front of him. Selecting the blueberry tart he took a big bite (despite the very full groan from his stomach) and offered the other half, blue insides oozing out, to Malo.

From that half, Malo took another half with a big, crunchy bite. He now had blue jam on his lips and flaky tart pieces all over his cheeks. "Hmmm hmm." he mumbled as he dipped his finger in the quarter of tart and began to color in the sky around the flower.
"Gots any lemon ones?" he asked. "I need yellow!" He looked with determination at the picture, then paused. "Oh! If you wanna draw too..." he offered Kennard one of the pieces of paper and broke the charcoal in two.

With a reluctant sigh Kennard produced a lemon tart from the bottom of the pile. “Here.” He settled down on the ground beside the food, reaching out and grabbing the offered paper. The bear sat studying it for a long moment, playing with the charcoal and trying to decide what he would draw. He had never drawn before. Nobody he knew had thought to introduce him to the world of arts of crafts. Perhaps they thought it would be a silly hobby for someone destined to be an executioner.
He began drawing, also trying to do a rose, but only ending up with a few scribbles. Still, it was his first drawing and he grinned proudly.

Malo's eyes narrowed, but he grinned at the other's drawing. "That's really good!" he exclaimed. "It looks just like whatever you were trying to draw." He nodded sagely, then used the lemon tart to make a center for his rose and a sun in the sky. "Hmmmm." he tapped his chin, getting gooey insides all over it. "I think its done!" He exclaimed with triumph. "See?" He held it up for Kennard to see.

“Does it?” Kennard smiled and did a few more squiggles that were supposed to be bees. He looked up when Malo presented his own work, and he wrinkled his nose as he stared at it for a long moment. “It looks tasty.” He eventually decided with a grin.
Deciding his own drawing was complete; the bear cuddles his axe handle and stared at the leftover food.

Malo drifted over to the leftovers and began to put some in his mouth, not minding the grass blades on a few. The ants that had clambered onto the danish he shook off, then offered it to Kennard.
"Do you wanna go see if Preston will hang these in the library? i'm sure he'd be so happy. He draws a lot. He was even drawing when I left!" He rolled his paper up like Preston did, the jellies and jams all melding together and dripping out the bottom.

“Mmm.” Kennard took the danish, nibbling one corner. He really was very, very full. “We’ll go say hello to Preston.” The bear stood, giving Malo a cheerful grin. “Lead the way.” He was quite excited to go to the library. He had only heard a few things from the maids but it seemed like a fascinating place.

Malo grinned widely, his eyes flashing brightly. He grabbed Kennard's little hand and tugged him along, inside, leaving the tarts in the grass for the ants.
The way to the library on foot was long and winding. The castle was cold, but the carpet made it cosy and the fires in the hearths lit the way. Malo's hand was cold, but heat flashed through it every few moments in a strange alteration. His eyes glowed up the long staircase and he pushed open the large door in the hallway beyond.
The library was huge. Books upon books upon books, all neatly shelved, save for a few stacks that had not been sorted. Preston looked up with tired eyes as he saw Malo and his new friend tracking mud across the floor. He sighed. "Don't make a-"
Malo was shouting at this point. "look! look! look what i painted!" he slapped his drawing open and flapped it around, getting jam all over the place. "...ooops."
