A Moon Hunter nods as you intercept them at the barrier dagger construct. "Thank god for backup. Just keep an eye in my position here, and call if you need help. Make sure to keep you headset on at all times."
They stiffly head back into the resting quarters. OOC: PATROLLING/ STANDING ON GUARD - Your trainee can choose to ICly do patrols, with others or simply by themselves. If they wish to SOLO or PRP, simply copy and paste the mechanics below to their own thread and label it PRP/ SOLO IN THIS SUBFORUM. If you are wandering closer to base, this thread is the ORP. Anyone is free to interact with anyone else "patrolling" in this ORP thread. - Simply ENTER the base patrol area when your trainee feels like it and EXIT it when they need to leave ROLLING DICE: (you can roll up to 3 times per patrol) - 1- 20: You see nothing, but you hear the sound of something rumbling, of clashing noises in the distance. - 21- 40: You encounter a large, oversized insect. It screeches and hurls itself at you! You manage to barely fend it off but you take -10 damage. - 41 - 60: You see a strange hole in the sand, walking closer towards it. It's a trap! A giant six-foot scorpion springs out and nearly disembowels you with its tail. You barely avoid the attack, but take heavy damage while taking it out. -20 damage - 61- 80: You hear screeching noises a little further away, and see a Moon Hunter battling with an oversized scorpion. You go to help them, but take damage in the process too. -10 damage - 81 - 100: You walk around and suddenly hit something odd in the ground. They look like strange flecks of dark red, but the sand quickly sweeps it away.

Dakota didn't want to wander to far from the tents in case of anything but he was concerned about Harrison. Mostly because he didn't seem himself.
Though with this mission, it was hard to say you could be yourself. Everything was on the line. Lives at Stake.
Dakota kicked at the sand and adjusted his headset. He'd listen for Eva to come but Harrison was right here so...he waited, If the moon hunter wanted to talk, Dakota would be there to listen.

"Dakota." Eva greeted quietly, announcing her arrival. She had lagged behind him a little, having been lost in thought, but she had finally caught up. However, the fact that she called him by his name rather than his nickname was a clear indication that she was still not her original, cheerful self.
As if aware of this fact, the girl let a small smile spread over her lips, trying to dispel the cloud of gloom that was probably hanging over her head. "You were here during...the first mission, right? I mean, we're both hatchlings, so..." Probably not the best topic to bring back up, but it was the first thing that had come to mind. When she thought "Sahara Desert", all she could think about was when they had been ordered to retrieve the bodies of all those fallen Hunters.
Eva's jaw stiffened. She took a long, deep breath, letting her shoulders relax as she exhaled. No point in thinking about that now. First and foremost, the most important task was to make sure that nothing was--
Her thoughts cut themselves off as a strange noise reached her ears. Brows knitting in concern, she shot a look over her shoulder at Dakota. "I...hang on, Dakota, I'll be right back." She didn't bother giving a better explanation before she was off, her feet sinking into the sand as she ran into the direction of the noise. Just what was that?
It didn't take very long until she could make out a figure--a Moon Hunter, judging by the coat--fighting with something nearby. A few more steps, and she realized that that something was, in fact, a rather large scorpion. Grimacing at the fact that the sand was hindering her movement, Eva moved forward as quickly as she could, Chara already summoned and in hand. Approaching the oversized scorpion from behind, she spun her weapon around and swung the bladed side down on the creature's backside.
Of course, needless to say, it was not very happy by this suddenly assault. All it took was a strong flick of its tail to send the girl flying back, sand clouding her vision and filling her mouth as she tumbled backwards. When she finally came to a stop, she pushed herself to her knees, choking and spitting out the sand that had found its way into her mouth before standing back up with a pained grimace, her hand moving up to find the spot where the tail had smacked into her.
That...was going to bruise.
But no time to dwell on that now. Shooting the Moon Hunter a quick look and a nod, she moved forward to strike out at the scorpion again.

He blinked as he heard his name come from Eva's lips. Like...I suppose it wouldn't be odd to most but Dakota it was. He was her gumdrop, and since she had given him the ridiculous name, she had called him nothing less.
He watched her closely, seeing her withdrawn expression and nodded. "I didn't even have time for the briefing, kinda of woke up late in the Pods..." He sighed before looking back over the desert...."That monster, The sea of bodies, the first time we saw Julie and..........." He shrugged, "I remember the mask, and Ariane. First time I hit on a girl in a mask, not a good choice of location." He joked before stiffening.
"No way, we don't separate!" Dakota didn't allow her to get far as they came upon another Moon hunter, fighting off a scorpion. Eva took a hit which had the boy moving to strike out.
"s**t, Not even out here for five minutes and we get attacked?" He nodded to the older hunter who looked thankful they were there.
"Damn, could this thing be bigger and uglier?" He moved to attack again.

Harrison was in a foul mood. Too close to death today. The stakes were too high to have to worry about- and he shouldn't have had to worry about...
Could he even trust anybody?
No. And he didn't know why he had. Protect and serve. Bullshit. What was he doing, any way? It only got him beat up half the time. Find a buddy. Ha ******** ha.

"Harrison? Thirteen?" Candace called out as she left the tent, slowing to a walk when she was outside. The sunglasses were put back on as she looked around to find him, spotting her friend not too far off. "Harrison, wait.." She hurried after him until she was close enough to reach out and put a hand on his shoulder, gripping it in a definite 'not gonna let go' way.
"What the hell was that? E-13?" Seriously? She knew he knew better.

Whoa. Whoa. Wait. What. "..Rep...tried to kill you? A..are you sure?" Not that she trusted Rep over Harrison but, well, heat of the battle..it was possible to accidentally walk into friendly fire if you didn't pay attention. Candace looked Harrison over for sign of injury. He..looked fine. "He...why the hell would he.." Candace was so lost. Why the hell did Rep try to kill Harrison? She thought they were friends! They flirted so much!

With three people beating at the scorpion, Eva actually felt confident that they could take it down. Though it was large and powerful, it didn't seem all that smart--at least, not as smart as those horsemen and Halloween creatures seemed to be. She rolled out of the way when the creature swept its tail out at her, just narrowly missing the attack. Nodding to Dakota--who she was now in speaking distance of--she jerked her head in the scorpion's direction.
"Let's take it down before it tries to get to the tents. I'll watch your back if you'll watch mine." Her smile grew slightly at this suggestion, and then she was moving again, lifting a hand to block her eyes when the creature attempted to kick sand in her face.
Lunging forward, Eva stabbed the blade down and into its backside, immediately cringing at the loud screeching noise that it emitted. With some effort, she jerked backwards and tugged her weapon free. It was almost finished off, she was certain. Just one more hit...

Dakota felt the excitement of battle rise as himself, Eva and the moon hunter dodged, rolled and attack simultaneously. It wasn't long before Eva gave the cue.
And indeed he watched her back.
"Looking nice Angel, your shorts are becoming a fascination for me as they show your round-" He jumped back as the tail of the scorpion came crashing down. Irritated at it for interrupting him, He moved in, right under the snapping jaws and stuck Chama into's jaws.
"Eat Fire b***h." He whispered as Chama screeched with flames. The scorpion didn't giveup much of a fight over as Dakota pulled his weapon out and wiped the slime on his jacket.
"Nice teamwork Angel..." He looked over at the Moon hunter and nodded, who gave them a sweet thanks for helping him out. "We got you covered bro." Was all he said before taking Eva's hand in his and walking away. Harrison and Candace could be seen not too far away and Dakota gave a wave.
"YO, CANDACE AND HARRISON." He yelled, flailing his arms now.

The scorpion was dead. That was good. However, Eva's mind was focused on something else entirely. Something that Dakota had been saying before he had been interrupted.
Looking nice Angel, your shorts are becoming a fascination for me as they show your round--
"Gumdrop!" Eva yelled, though the sudden return of the nickname indicated that she wasn't really mad. In fact, she was clearly struggling to keep the grin off her face as she shook her head, looking exasperated. Even at times like this...same ol' Dakota. "Remind me to go back to my leggings when we get back to Deus Ex."
Whenever that would be. The thought sobered her up immediately, and her expression grew even more concerned when she made out two familiar figures on their way back to the patrol spot. It looked like Harrison and Candace were having a serious discussion of sorts. She opened her mouth to suggest that she and Dakota turn around and do another circle around the premises when the boy suddenly called out to the pair. Loudly.
Eva facepalmed.

"It was on purpose. You heard him in there." Harrison looked up at the distant sounds of fighting. Dakota and Eva were jogging back from out in the sand. Dakota waved.
Harrison didn't wave back.
"That's the whole reason we got everybody here, right?" He muttered. Eva and Dakota were coming over. What did it matter. "We got a better chance...but if you guys want to kill me too, what chance have I got? I'm just lucky it was Julie in there. Anybody else would have ripped us both wide open." Harrison's hand shook. "I gave everybody that talk, and I was about five seconds from skewering him."

There was quite a commotion outside the tent by the time he arrived, one of the hunter intermediates clearly livid about something that happened during that fight. As far as he could make out from all the yelling and exchanges ... someone, their own people, had apparently attacked him? Dillon kept silent as he worried over that thought, deciding it was best not to interrupt or ask them about it ... he didn't quite know them anyway so it would have been rude to intrude. The trainee took in upon himself to patrol the site in the other direction, which may have turned out to be a big mistake as an oversized insect homed in on him, cutting thin strips of wounds on his forearm in the time he took to summon Inez and take it down. Great, he was getting himself hurt and adding on to the number of injured the medical team would have to look after. Really not helping here.

Candace frowned. "I'm sorry. I had no idea..." She fell quiet, and then suddenly slapped him upside the head. "That still doesn't mean I'm going to let you snap at me like that a*****e!" Candace's eyes narrowed as she gave Harrison a stern glare, just glaring until she reached to hold his hand and give it an affectionate squeeze. "I'll never try to kill you. You know that."Dakota called out to them and Candace smiled again, giving them a wave with her free hand. "Hey there, you two. Good to see you're looking fine~." Her phone buzzed, a text message reminding her it was there. Oh! Right! Candace grabbed her phone out of her pocket and finally checked the text, her smile softening. Oh, Clarice. Yes, when they both returned she could have her runic gloves. lizbot Text to Clarice:Sounds like a plan. I look forward to it! She'd be fine.
