Personality ::
xxPositive Traits
- "Don'cha worry your head, we'll get outta this mess in no time. B'sides, could always be worse, yeah?" - Optimistic
Toby is usually an optimistic and cheerful fellow, though he can have his moments where he is generally overwhelmed or frazzled. It isn't unusual for him to have a smile across his lips and a few helpful words to share. Of course, said optimism can often be a front, a shield to keep from exposing his truer feelings towards those he doesn't know well. It's sometimes hard to tell when he is genuinely being plucky and hopeful and when he's covering for himself, as he doesn't like for others to see him down. His optimism wains when he becomes agitated, stressed out, or riled up.

Toby might be many things, but he is certainly not a liar. Er, at least within reason, that is. He understands the value of a white lie and won't hesitate to offer one if the situation calls for it, but he is a terrible liar in general. He's definitely not one to join a poker game. If he is too ashamed to admit to something or needs to hide something from others, he'd rather not say anything at all and would avoid broaching the subject.

Tobias is of the stubborn sort, which can be either useful or harmful, depending on the situation. It’s his stubborn determination that allows him to achieve his position on stage and he’s certainly not one to give up without a fight. At the same time, however, he can find himself in over his head and sometimes has trouble understanding just when he should throw in the towel. He's found himself in a few tight spots, for not being too willed to admit defeat in a bar room brawl or a street side scuffle, but he won't sit still when he or his friends are insulted.
xxNegative Traits

Toby isn't the sort to sit on his thumbs and wait for things to come to him, he's a hard worker... But there is still a streak of jealousy in him, to some extent. He's never quite been satisfied with his life in Clubs, even with all the flashy technology and carny rides. On the bottom rung of society, he's always looked out at those he catered to and wished that the fortunes had favored him enough to have landed him in a class that could afford schooling. Instead, he'd been working the carnival as soon as he was old enough to do so, and he hadn't had proper lessons in reading and writing.

This is, perhaps, what can make hanging around the politoed a bit more on the unbearable side. Despite his easy smile and his seemingly endless supply of words, he's often on edge. He doesn't like to disappoint his superiors, yet can have a quick temper when the mood suites him and something goes wrong, especially when it comes to an interference with his performances. One wrong move could have himself or others injured, so there is no joking as far as his career is concerned.
xxxxxLikes: Rain, a bottle of fine beer, a chilly night, and the adoration of the audience. Toby isn't hard to please and enjoys the simple things in life, when relaxing. He's also a mischievous bloke, enjoying a good prank now and again, though they are usually harmless and he nearly always fesses up to them right away. The look on the victim's face is always priceless and it's even better if they walk away laughing. Though he doesn't like to openly admit it, a good brawl is always something to get the spirits up and the blood pumping. He's not the sort to pick fights, but he sure as hell likes to end them, if he can.
xxxxxDislikes: Winter, balloons, and the fact that he's illiterate. He goes through great lengths to hide that last bit and struggles with trying to teach himself, which he also dislikes having to do. He also hates to be proven wrong, but don't most folks?
xxxxxFavourite Food: Ice cream. If there was one food that he would choose to live off of, if there would be no repercussions in health and weight, it would definitely be ice cream. Especially of the soft-serve variety, which is easy to obtain in the more carnival sections of Clubs.
xxxxxHobbies: First and foremost, Tobias loves and wholly devotes himself to his occupation. That occupation being fire-breathing, of course. He's spent much of his younger days practicing and steadily building up his skills. Who expects to walk into a show featuring a water-type to singe their brows? Working with such a deadly force gives him an exhilarated and powerful feeling. He's also fairly adept at dancing and moving to rhythm, as it plays an important part in his routine. The pounding and thumping of drums and bass shake him to the core, but in a pleasant way and he moves with a surprising amount of grace. Outside of the show ring, however, he prefers a less dangerous past time. He loves to make music and has his own flute, passed down to him from one of his "fathers" when he was just a small boy. He's never had any official lessons and trilled on the instrument in his spare time. Lord knows he wouldn't be able to read sheet music, but he doesn't need to to pick up a melody, just enough time to sit down and figure it out through trial and error.
xxxxxInterests: Toby enjoys pranking when out and about with his friend, Malo, but it isn't something he gets to do too frequently, as the pair are from different factions and he often has a tight schedule. He also enjoys other things, such as a spot of drinking and has dabbled in experimental drugs on a few occasions, though that trip didn't last long, as he feared how it would interfere with his profession, and has resigned himself to less harmful substances in moderation. He can't do medium art for anything, which is why he devotes himself so much to physical performances, but does dabble in painting when he can find time and coin enough for supplies. Just cos he doesn't feel he's good at it doesn't stop him from trying from time to time. He also, when having a moment, tries to devote himself to learning to read and write.
xxxxxFaction Opinion: His feelings for Clubs can be both positive and negative at times. He loves performing, but the party atmosphere and the loads of technology sometimes have him on edge, despite the fact that he was hatched and raised in Clubs. Their association with Spades has him a bit wary, too, as he's not fond of the dangerous lot. Clubs is his home, however, and though he tires of it now and again, he can't fathom leaving permanently for anything in the world.
xxxxxAspirations: He wants to make a name for himself as a performer. Of course, there are other things he desires, as well. Education is certainly one of them and he hopes against hope that if he can earn a high enough income on stage, he'll be able to pay to further his own education.
xxxxxFears: It might sound silly, him being of the water type, but he is terrified of burning to death. He's received his fair share of burns over his life time and though he commands the water element, fire is still painful and the thought of being wholly consumed and devoured by the element he performs with strikes a fear in his heart. He's also afraid of popping balloons, which is equally strange, given the atmosphere he grew up in. He just can't get used to the sudden pop, no matter how many times he's been around it.

xxxxxTitle: The Fire Tamer
xxxxxJob: Tobias performs on stage and though he can be rowdy off, he is all business when before the audience. He eats, breathes, dances with, and twirls flames for the delight of those who pay to enter the show. He's under the management of one of the carnival's showmen, of course, and answers to him, but he is proud of his position. His choice in performance material raised a few eyebrows when he was a wee thing, but in time it came to make sense. A water type breathing fire? It sounded absurd, but he proved to have a natural advantage, especially when it came to extinguishing flames when they became a bit unruly. The absurdity of it was really what drew the child to the flames in the beginning. A crowd would assume a charmander would be performing on stage, but a politoed? Now that would be an unusual sight!
Appearance::
xxxxxHair: Red, moderate in length, and slightly shaggy in style, though it's pinned back when he is performing, for safety reasons.
xxxxxEyes: Curious, inquisitive, and green.
xxxxxSkin tone: Pale with green freckles.
xxxxxPalette: Similar to his egg and baby form! Green, orange-red, yellow, and white. C:
xxxxxClothing: He usually wears a cap and what ever garb he can get his hands on. He prefers gloves and clothing that covers his arms and legs, hiding any scarring from past burns from the prying eyes of those around him.
xxxxxAdditional: As he ages, his vision might start to go a bit. He was also not raised by an individual, but by more of a collective. His egg was found by a rabble of carnies and they decided to keep him, but it never particularly bothered him and he was reared by whoever had enough time to keep an eye on him at any given moment. He's half wild, in a sense, and calls those carnies by name. When he refers to "parents," he means the ones who created his egg and he was told, as a youngling, that they had abandoned him with them. He's never questioned it and really doesn't care either way. The carnival is his home and his family.
