It had been some time now since the attack on the Padmapani herd, yet Mittrei was still missing. The last she was seen was sheltering with the Padmapani. Samsara had initially assumed that she was continuing her infiltration and would be back to report shortly, but that appeared not to be the case. It was now starting to look like she either was discovered and killed by Padmapani or that she had deserted Mahapadma, in defiance of Samsara's orders.

Samsara was angry about this.

In truth, she didn't really feel like journeying back to Padmapani to check on Mittrei's whereabouts. Samsara considered her journey with those soquili complete and didn't want to waste any more energy on them. Mittrei was safe for now, but Samsara decided to at least check the area where she found the flutter mare as soon as she had the time. Until then, she needed a replacement. Mittrei had been their infiltrator and their spy. They needed another mare who could charm and deceive their enemies into the traps the rest of the herd had lain.

Samsara thought she had found just the mare.

It had started off a day like any other during this time of year. With the arrival of spring came new life - both in nature and in creature-form, and with that came more annoyances than anyone should have to deal with. Laughter; love; happiness; silliness; games; fun; soquili. All of that was at a rise as the land grew warmer with each passing day and the winter became spring.

And that was terribly unfortunate, because Giorgia was really beginning to love the solitude and emptiness that was the cold, dark and damp season of winter. It fit her quite well. There were very little run-ins with other soquili and on the occasional meet-and-greet, the young mare tended to end up kicking and screaming. It wasn't her fault, really. She just hated everyone and everything.

In a sense.

That hatred had started at an early age, when she had found out her 'father' had abandoned her 'mother', and she was the product of her mother wishing her father would come back to her. Blessita had wished upon a wishing tree, and then a basket appeared to her in the middle of the night. Inside the basket was Giorgia, new to the world and waiting to be loved and welcomed.

Not quite the case.

Umo, her father, never returned and it made Blessita sad, which in turn then, caused Giorgia to resort to raising herself. Now, when you have to raise yourself at such a young age, you grow to hate everything pretty quickly.

"Keep your god-damn kids away from me, or I swear I'll eat them!!" She screamed at a young couple who seemed to be enjoying the sun out on a nice family playdate. "I'm not kidding I will eat the little buggers!! You have no ******** right to be out here, on MY land, and on MY time!! I don't ever want to see your ugly faces again!!" Her hoof stomped at the ground as if she was ready to throw a tantrum. Really, she wasn't that angry at the family for being out and about, and more angry at the fact that it was spring.

Samsara had to be amused. The mare was out there, screaming at a family. Their crime was simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The striped mare had a bad attitude and didn't look terribly fond of her fellow soquili. That sort of misanthropy was what Samsara required. Once she acquired the mare, she wondered if she might have to train her to control herself better. While it might be amusing to watch her terrorizing soquili at random, her Mahapadma needed an element of self-control.

She let the mare yell at the family for a time. It was only when it grew dull to watch that Samsara emerged from her hiding place. She walked with a deliberately slow pace from behind the mare. She wouldn't be immediately visible to Giorgia, but the soquili family would be able to see her. Her wings glittered in the sunlight and were as beautiful as her skinwalker pelt was unnatural. It was obvious what she was, and obvious she was fixated on Giorgia.

The family of Soquili scampered away as Giorgia was going through her little rant and the larger mare smiled to herself. Success. The annoyance at the young couple and their children had paid off!! She had gotten her land back and her freedom back, and no longer did she have to deal with them ugly buggers. Or so she thought.

"I amaze myself." The mare spoke out loud. It was a simple statement, meant for no one or for nothing, she was just pleased that her attempt had been successful and was now able to relax in peace. Yes, today was going to be perfect.

Until she heard hoofsteps behind her. Prepared to pounce, the mare whipped around with such force, it sent her braid flying around the other side of her neck. Usually the mare would have cried out in a bit of pain (braided hair was strong and tough! It could hurt), but in order to keep up her track of successes for the day, she needed to act tougher. Until she saw who it was walking behind her. A skinwalker. Giorgia had never personally seen one, but her mother told her stories of their viciousness, and Gigi was always extremely impressed with what they could accomplish. Blood and gore? Not really her thing, but anguish and torture to another? Yes, very much so. Gigi used her words and her looks to her advantage, while she learned skinwalkers used their claws, their teeth and their overall strength.

"Did you see me scare away that family of idiots?" She giggled at the skinwalker mare, her voice shaking with fear. Gigi wasn't stupid and she knew her life was in danger - she could barely fight back, so maybe if the mare was impressed by her, she'd spare her life. For a price.

Her mouth creased with more amusement. The terrorized family were the intelligent ones. They ran in fear as soon as they saw her. The brown-striped mare was less in tune with her instincts. She didn't even notice Samsara until after she had given herself a victory nod. Ever patient, Samsara waited for her to turn and discover her herself. It didn't take long.

She somewhat liked that, though obviously frightened, the mare's first action upon noticing her was to boast to her. It was an unusual reaction and those were always notable. She had seen soquili who dismissed her danger before and were friendly to her as if she were any regular mare. She had also seen soquili streak away in terror as the family had just done. She rarely saw a mix of the two.

"It was an entertaining show for a while," she told her. "But I've seen better."
