THE INTRODUCTION And explanation
● In Barton Town you will usually find roleplays described as: semi-literate, literate or advanced literate. Here, however, we have a slightly more detailed system (know as Role Play Level or RPL) so that those who start roleplays, and those who are looking to join roleplays, have a better idea of what they are getting into.
● Writing ability levels are separated into five categories, starting with the most basic and going all the way up to a would-be novelist. When you first join this guild you should take a guess at which level you are. If you're under-confident or a little unsure then feel free to go for one level below what you think you are. This becomes your 'unofficial' level. Your 'official' level is decided by a process described in the third post.
● You may keep your 'unofficial' level for a month (during which you may join and make roleplays) before you must take the test to decide your 'official' level. Of course, there is always a chance that your 'unofficial' level and 'official' level is the same, which is great! The test is a rather quick process. It will take around five minutes to fill out the form plus the time you take to write a roleplay post.
● You may take the test as often as every week to re-assess the level. So, if you feel as though you have advanced to the next level, feel free to take the test again to reassess your 'official level'.

ROLE PLAY LEVEL CRITERIA Also called RPL
★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ● You can only write a few sentences per post (between one and three). ● Your spelling may be in need of a spell check. ● Your grammar may leave something to be desired. ● Full stops may be absent. ● Distinction between speech and actions may be blurred.
★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ● You can write a decent paragraph between four to eight sentences long. ● Your spelling is generally correct. ● Your vocabulary may be a little basic. ● Punctuation is used adequately.
★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ● You can write two or three paragraphs well.* An average paragraph may be around five to eight sentences. ● Your vocabulary may be wider than those at Level 2, but it's how you use your words which really counts. ● There is use of a range of sentence lengths and structures. ● Posts begin to look at the feelings, thoughts and motivations of your character.
★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ ● You can write two or three paragraphs well.* An average paragraph may be around five to eight sentences. ● Your vocabulary is more developed than elementary level. You may be making use of that thesaurus on your desk! ● You are able to write for more than one character at a time (in the same roleplay). ● Character development is now your forte.
★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ● You can write four or more paragraphs well.* An average paragraph may be around five to eight sentences. ● Your writing skills are beyond the average. Metaphors, similes, rhetorical questions, lists and symbols - such writing techniques are becoming apparent in your posts. ● You can write and develop at least two characters in the same roleplay. ● You do not pad your posts with unnecessary paragraphs or events. The eight hours unaccounted for in the roleplay do not need to be drawn out in deep detail for six paragraphs. You are confident enough to use one or two in order to keep things concise and interesting for other roleplayers.
* Please note: Post length is the least important of the criteria.

APPLICATION x How to register for a level
● First, take a guess. What level do you think you are? ● If you're confident then take that level. ● If you aren't confident (because you're unsure or naturally unsure) take on the level below what you think you might be. ● Apply for the RPL Test below.
THE TEST x Take this to be given an 'official' level ● You will need a link to at least one current roleplay you have posted in at least three time. ● You will also need to write a new post in response to a short scenario given to you. This is why you must choose a 'Genre' in the form below. ● And finally, you will need to fill in the form below and post it in this thread. ● Where there are multiple choices, delete the options you don't want.
THE FORM x Copy and paste this ● Username: Your username here ● Current Level: Unofficial ____ / Official ____ ● Genre: High School / Realistic Horror / Fantasy / Modern Romance / Medieval / Science-Fiction / Post Apocalyptic ● Links: links to your current roleplay which has 3 or more posts from you in it
