Yakujo had spent the majority of her life with her sisters and father. Her mother was still quite the mystery to her but the young adult lioness was not about to go searching for her now. The thought of finding her mother and asking her questions had faded and died long ago in the rogue lands. Some time had passed and Yakujo had separated from the little bit of family she had. The current where abouts of her sisters and father were unknown to the cub.
But it didn't matter.
What did matter was finding a nice place to lay her head. The sun had dipped down over the horizon and left only darkness. Thank goodness for cat night vision or the lioness would probably be tripping over a lot of rocks right now. Finally, the lioness stopped. There was a strong scent of feline in the air. Something told her that she was possibly trespassing in some ones pride which made her step even lighter. Conflict was not something the lioness was looking for right this moment. Sleep on the other hand was something she wanted very much.

it wasn't easy. There were so many cubs in the pride now... so many his age. He was never alone, never wanting for company per say but in a small way... he felt somewhat isolated. He played with them, wrestled, and laughed with them but at the end of the day when all the cubs curled up between the protective bellies of their mothers, side by side looking up at the stars he fell into the shadows. The cubs would talk about anything and everything, if only to stay off sleep. Dalziel's thoughts were his own. No one knew what he thought the stars were, if he believed that the heavenly bodies were the kings of the past or not. No one knew his favorite color or ...anything. One thing he had to his advantage- he was a good listener. He made no enemies here but now and then it got to him. It was late, and he really should be back at the den but he needed time to clear his head. The pale cub was a sliver of moonlight among the shadow of the grass down below. His over-sized ears pressed back against his head and his paws padded blindly forward. So lost was he in his thoughts that he barely noticed the large form moving his way. With a quiet grunt the cub bounced off the lioness' front leg and went bouncing back to his bum.

The dark lioness gave a yawn. She was so tired of traveling and just wanted sleep. Something white and silver in the distance caught her eyes though. At first the lioness thought maybe something to eat but to her surprise.. a cub?
Yakujo padded over to the little thing cautiously in fears that watchful eyes may be watching this cub from afar. It was also possible that this cub wandered off on its own.
"..Hey.." Yakujo took a seat in front of the silver cubs path.

The cub rubbed at his head, quietly growling. It wasn't a hard bump but it left him startled. As his obstacle moved he started, his eyes going wide. He didn't know this lioness, either in sight or smell. She wasn't one of the lionesses of the pride. A fearful grimace tightened his features and the cub began backing up, kicking at the ground and scrambling backwards. He hadn't the mindset to flip around to his paws and running off.
Her greeting, however, defused the flood of horrible thoughts in his mind. He wasn't going to be gobbled up by some rogue.
In response he offered a quick, tight smile.

The cub had bumped in to her, but the bump did not bother the lioness at all. The reaction the cub gave Yakujo got more of a reaction then the bump. she tilted her head at the silver cubs reaction. Her confusion soon turned to a smile and a small chuckle. It was clear that this cub was frightened which was smart on its part. Yakujo mirrored the tight smile with one of her own revealing big sharp adult lion teeth.
"Its alright don't worry," Her tone was mixed with a cheerfulness and sleepiness. "You wouldn't happen to know where this is?"

The smile didn't help things. One of those teeth was almost as big as his front leg. He glanced down to his paw then up to the lioness. Just one bite... he'd best watch himself in front of her.
Her assurance earned a slow relaxation of his small body and a large sigh of relief. He wasn't going to be gobbled up. Thank the kings... the question, however, had his eyes going wide again. Looking back to her he raised a claw and took a deep breath, his mouth falling open. Snapping his mouth shut he looked to the ground and began drawing small circles in the dirt.

The little cub still seemed frightened which baffled Yakujo but at the same time the cub earned a few points for being aware of strangers. Some cubs were so naive that they'd walk up to any adult and happily accept them as safe. Yakujo had been like that when she was small and luckily no grown feline had taken advantage of that fact.
The drawing perked the dark lionesses interest. Yakujo leaned in to observe a little closer.
".... Circle... I'm at circle....?" It hadn't dawned on her that this cub might be mute.

The cub jerked his paw back. What? She thought he was.... oh. Well that was actually a good idea! He'd not thought about using drawings to talk! Then again...he didn't know how to draw. He'd have to start on that soon enough. It would be a way to get at least a few basic ideas across.
Oh right. Lioness.
He looked up to her and shook his head. Pointing back towards the pride lands he stopped and blew raspberries. Well shoot how was he supposed to pantomime 'pridelands'?

Yakujo was still leaning in and admiring the small cubs work when out of no where a wild raspberries appeared. The lioness almost fell on her a** from surprise. Was he making fun of her or something? She stared down at him with her jaw hanging open in shock. What did you say to a small cub insulting you?
So she returned the favor and blew raspberries his way.

Dalziel jumped as she blew raspberries his way. He frowned and slowly tipped his head. After a moment his eyes went wide. Oh. She thought- oh no! He lifted his paws and waved them around, hoping she'd know to disregard the raspberries.
He sighed and slowly settled himself on his haunches. How embarrassing...how was he supposed to tell her the pride's name or...anything? Perhaps he could escort her in? Let someone else tell her. Sighing, he looked up to her and...croaked. It was a guttural, horrid sound with a complete lack of voice. Just wind moving through a tightened throat, a sound made from the stomach.
Embarrassment flooded his features.

Were they playing a game now? What was all this paw waving? The dark lioness could only watch. This must be game or something. A guessing game of some sort was what Yakujo decided. The young cub opened his mouth and a strange soundless sound echoed through.
"Hmmm that ones tough..." The lioness sat and pondered, "Is it ... seven mice drowning in a small well? Did I win the game?"

The cub's expression fell, his ears dropped, and his eyes sank down to the ground. No... no it wasn't. It was a terrible sound but it was his to make. Shaking his head, he brought a paw up to his throat and croaked again. Maybe she didn't get it? But still the comment hurt. He didn't want to make that sound...
Dalziel rose up to his paws and waved the lioness after him. The least he could do was take her to someone more helpful.

Now things were clear. At least the following part was clear. Yakujo had yet to figure out the reason for the silence. It was still a little odd to her that the cub wanted to play such silly games. The more she thought about it the more it made sense with him being a cub.
"Alright lead the way," She let out a tired yawn and followed after the moon silver cubbin.

Dalziel wrinkled his nose but kept on trudging. She'd get it eventually... maybe. It wasn't a big deal if she didn't. He had friends that he could go back to and....share their company. He wanted someone to know how frustrated he was, someone to know that he just wanted to be able to tell people he couldn't talk...somehow.
His small form parted the grass as he went forward. Eventually they passed well over the border and entered the heart of the pride. Plopping down, he pointed with a paw forward. There she was. The pride. She could help herself.

The dark lioness followed faithfully behind the moon silver cubbin. The strong scent of lions was now only growing stronger by the paw step. It made Yakujo wonder what exactly this cub was really up to. She kept her maw shut and followed in silence.
And then he was pointing and finally the lioness got it.
"Your not allowed to talk to strangers are you? Alright. I'll go find an adult. Thank you for your help~" She nuzzled his forehead and went off in the direction the moon silver cub had pointed. It was very blatant she still didn't get it.
