The days had passed with the Queen's mouth still closed tightly. The unfamiliar world around her kept most of her attention away from it. With her organs removed, it wasn't like she needed her mouth for anything. For all she knew about the process of being reborn like this, she could have completely lost her voice. There would be no use for her mouth when she couldn't talk, eat, or drink.
The desert terrain had given way to grasslands. Near her thomb, there had been a river and oasis, many kilometers from it to the west. She was not the first or last Pharaoh to have been buried there. She didn't know where they were. Her father was in there somewhere. Perhaps near her own tomb. Her own now completely empty tomb. And her brother. They better not have dared to put him near her. He deserved to be buried deep in the sand without the honor of mummification. Just to be left to shrivel and rot in the ground without a mask to guide his soul back to his body.
It was almost tempting enough to retrace her tracks and hunt him out. Do to his body what he had done to hers. Nefertari almost did turn around, until she remembered the sandstorm just yesterday. Even if she retraced her steps, they would stop at a point. Forever washed away by the sands. The chance to find her ancestors lost forever to her. The thought made her growl deeply in her throat, a sound with a scratchy feel to it like the individual it belonged to hadn't tasted water in years. Not far from the truth.
Pulling at the trappings with her mouth, the Mummy Queen raised a back hoof to pick at the bindings on her muzzle.

Murdered, only to live again, her beautiful mane and tail gone along with her color replaced with bones... what most knew as undeath, unable to die, unable to live truly. Morrigan he had lost most of former shape and beauty only to walk as a corpse across the lands. Curse that stallion, she would find him only to end him personally, though, not quickly by any means, she would see him writhe in agony before she was through, oh she would watch and enjoy every moment of his pain as revenge for the wounds inflicted upon her.
However, he now led her former herd. Morrigan would need allies as much as it pained her to admit, she couldn’t go after her own herd, she just wanted him and his followers, however, only he would know how deep his infection had spread before Morrigan could purge it completely. Even then, her daughters her beautiful daughters how many of them would have to die? How many have already died?
The corpse snorted with distaste, she may have to destroy the entire herd, and so be it. She was resolute. Rather she destroys them by purging the infection before it spreads any further by her own hands than let it thrive amongst her former herd.
A black from standing amongst the grasses caught her attention, being wrapped in bandages was a rather odd sight. Never had morrigan seen such a thing in all her travels, but then again her travels had not brought her as far as the desert. Bitter and cold Morrigan was rather amused by the display a cold grin slipped it’s way upon her hard features... however too she felt an unknown kinship with this mare she could not explain. She approached the black and gold mare...

She was unaware she had an audience. Nefertari continued to pick at her bindings, using the sharp points of her cloven hooves to get under them. Much to her misfortune, her mouth was shut tied. She managed to loosen it a little. Not enough to open her mouth.
While she picked, the mummy made little grunting noises. She was longing for a scream, so long waiting for the chance to even sigh. Though she no longer took a breath, the comfort of the simple actions was missed. In life, she had taken advantage of these things. No one ever thought they would be in this situation. Dead, but walking, with gashes across one's stomach and neck.
Nefertari was only glad for the lack of physical pain she felt every time her stiff joints moved.
With a muffled cry, she gave one more great tear at the bindings, only to rake the hoof across her muzzle. Stomping the leg on the ground, she raised her head. The glowing red eyes locked on the other mare. Her nostrils flared in irritation, her ears laying back in aggression. The signal to the bone mare was obvious. "I don't wish your presence."

Morrigan continued to approach clearly ignoring the other mare's aggressive go away display though she paused a safe distance from the other mare to get a better look at her, "You may not wish for my presence but I am here regardless." An Algedi, she didn't see those often, Morrigan mused, and she seemed to have quite a story to tell much like herself.
With a flick of her bone stump of a tail she began to circle the algedi like a predator "it looks like you could use help.." the bone mare paused as she circled the algedi "say getting your mouth free perhaps."
Morrigan had been like this for a time already, and had relearned to draw breath, to others it made her seem like she was still alive made them feel safer... At least until her frigid body touched them but this mare she suspected wouldn't have the same reaction as those living creatures... no this algedi was like her, dead. So why bother to pretend to draw the presence of another risen creature.
This mare didn't want her help she wouldn't give it, not without a price. Morrigan kicked up a sharp rock from the ground and skilfully caught it in her mouth smiling darkly red eyes filled with a need for vengeance she was a warrior queen, such simple tricks were trivial.

Nefertari's eyes narrowed a little further at the approach of the other. She didn't even allow her ears to twitch, something very easy for a dead one to do. The muscles were stiff, but there was no longer any ache. Just a slight cracking as something that hadn't moved in thousands of years chipped. It was a wonder she didn't simply fall apart.
Maybe she was. One little piece at a time. Instead of all at once, she was being made to suffer before she would cease to exist entirely. And than what? Would it be considered an official death even though she was already dead? Would her soul finally find peace in the land beyond? She doubted. Without her body, there was nothing for her soul to hold onto to. Once it was finished with her, her soul would likely wander the earth, forever stuck in another limbo of which there would be no escape.
But how could one prevent that? Prevent the body from continuing to decay as it had been for years? She was preserved, but she was never meant to move.
A rasping sound came from the Mummy Queen's throat. The need to say something to this nerve of a mare was so unbearable. Her mouth pulled at the bindings, feeling more flakes of her skin and muscles fall away to the ground. It was taking away her mouth the longer it stayed on. She could feel the panic pound in her hollow chest, creeping along her spine to her empty head. Unwilling to appear anything but intimidating, she kept it hidden below, her years as a Princess and then brief Pharaoh of the sands making it all too easy to keep her features blank.
If the other mare was trying to scare her, she wasn't doing a good job.

Morrigan couldn't help but wonder who did this to such an interesting creature. A fool stallion no doubt... the very thought made her fume such a creature still lived while this one died? she seemed far Superior even in death.
"I can't hear you m'dear." Morrigan mused aloud as she was obviously trying to say something.
Mummy seemed distracted despite trying to hide it, worried almost about what morrigan couldn't say such a fearsome appearance it was a wonder she had anything to worry about at all, morrigan almost envied her almost. As soon as a piece of her fell off she understood, and it was something to use to her advantage.
"Then shall I just sit here and watch your mouth fall off some more till you have none?" Morrigan wasn't trying to scare her, she wouldn't have let herself be seen if she was, morrigan was starriest in battle something she used to protect her kingdom before that undeserving fool put a cancer in it destroying it from the inside out. Morrigan's red eyes flared angrily for a moment before she calmed watching to see what the mare would do hopefully it would be interesting.

Nefertari made a growling sound in her throat, the corners of her mouth twisting into a sneer. Her pride and irritation made it difficult for her to ask for help. Though she would gladly take it if offered. Only it wasn't. Could the stranger not see the flakes falling? Was she hoping to watch an ancient Pharaoh turn into dust before her eyes to go tell whoever she had at home to tell? Maybe her brother had also awoken and the skeletal mare was on his side. That she had been sent to find her and dispose of her. But instead wanted to let Nefertari destroy her own self. Wasting away bit by bit as the desperation to be free rose would be a tale to tell her traitor of a brother.
If that was it, Nefertari wasn't about to go down without a fight.
Turning to face the other mare, the mummy lowered her head as if to charge, then raised it back hoping the threat was clear. A Starborn against an Algeidi, even two dead ones, was not a true fight. Nefertari's horns were hard and always eager to split someone's skull in half.
Without waiting for a response, Nefertari turned her head this way and that, searching for something sharp to slice the thread off herself. There must be something here. Plants with thorns were everywhere.

Morrigan did see the flakes coming off the mummy which is why she was offering in her own little way, would mean this mare would owe her something. She sensed she had pride similar to her, Morrigan if she was in a similar situation would do the same, refuse help it was just a matter of time though.
"Oh, can't ask for my help?" She pondered fakely "now how should I offer it?" Morrigan saw the threat and mused, she'd been a warrior queen not just a queen, such threats meant nothing to her, even if this one was dead she wondered how much she'd risk to lash back out at the taunting mare.
The skeletal mare watched as Nefertari looked around for something sharp so she wouldn't have to ask the skeletal mare for help.
"Curious though, how did you end up in such a state, similar black magic I suppose?" she asked the other mare, she certainly had a story to tell, she wondered if she had one similar to hers, the bitterness and hatred the mare emitted Morrigan was certain she did.

Morrigan, however, was not accounting for the stubbornness of the mummy queen. Even if she flaked herself into dust, Nefertari would never ask for the assistance of another. Least of all to a stranger. To ask for help was to show weakness. She had been a Pharaoh. If she couldn't do one simple task on her own, what good was she?
It was with this mindset that the dried up Algeidi mare turned her back on the other one, flaring her nostrils in annoyance. She should not have to ask when someone of her status was in such clear trouble. Though she shouldn't be too mad, she supposed. With all her jewelry and the sure signs of her status gone she must look like all the other Algeidi mares out there.
Except, of course, for the fact she was dead.
Nefertari walked around in a circle, glowing red eyes searching the ground and the bushes around her. She settled on a rock on the ground and bent her neck as she would have done in the past to grab a mouthful of grass. In her new body this caused her more discomfort than she remembered as a few flakes fell from her neck. She ignored it in place of rubbing the side of her mouth gently against the sharp edge of the rock. Ignored the flaking as she ignored the other mare speaking. If she could speak she would damn well tell the skeleton what happened. This situation didn't benefit either of them. Not Nefertari to talk and feel more independent. Nor to give the other answers. If answers were what she sought and she wasn't merely speaking to speak.

Morrigan was quite amused in fact of the stubbornness of this other queen, reminded her quite a bit of herself in fact, when she'd been more, what was the word, alive? Now she was just a hollow husk of a creature. Oh how she lamented the days stolen from her and the revenge she would bring on the one who cursed her.
The look the mare gave her made Morrigan smile wickedly Oh yes this mare was very much like her. She loved it!
"That Rock is a little dull," she offered her hoof "My hooves is sharper than most metal, wouldn't you like to talk again instead of flaking away your highness?" she offered her help finally. She was genuinely interested in hearing this mare's tale, Morrigan was no fool despite this mare being dead, she carried herself differently especially one from the same class could see it clear as day. Morrigan carried herself in much the same way even being a dead thing herself it was muscle memory.
The mare gave a smile that could only be described as terrifying to any onlookers.

Nefertari, on the other hand, was close to physical violence. Even if it meant she would never speak, again, she wanted nothing more than for this mare to shut up. Shut up and go away or shut up and help her. But not go away if the help was wanted. The white mare was the first walking dead she had come across since her awakening. She couldn't escape the connection between them that left curiosity burning inside the Pharaoh. She thought she would have been the only one walking around. Yet this one didn't look like she was mummified. Either she had been murdered and couldn't have been or she wasn't from Nefertari's culture at all.
Curious, that.
After much rubbing, a gold thread snapped. Nefertari silently rejoiced before silently raging at the slowness of it. Hooves were indeed sharper than rocks, in some cases. But the pride of the Pharaoh kept her rooted to the spot. She would not go towards the mare, first. Would not make the first move. That would be to ask for help, something she never would do. If the other wished to help, let her come forward. Nefertari would keep her head bent. And wait. All the while with another growl threatening to sound in the back of her throat.
