Boss Battle Guide

YOUR TROLL BEGINS THIS BATTLE WITH THE HP COUNT THEY HAD AT THE END OF THE CYOA

IF YOUR TROLL IS A DRONE
You're have 40hp and +1 to all attack damage due to being an adult. You also have a small, one use medikit that can heal 5hp on any troll. However you can't use it on yourself, as it requires two hands to operate.

IF YOUR TROLL HAS TRAINING
{Novice-1 Journeytroll-2 Master-3 Grandmaster-4}
Medics - You know where the heart is, and how to stop blood coming out of a body! This is a good thing. During battle, you can heal another troll half their total hp, as many times as your training level in Medic.
Combatants - Bashing into other trolls all day has made you strong, and given fresh muscle to your swing. Increase the damage of any of your attack rolls by 1. This can be used as many times as your Combat training level.
Tacticians - You can imagine the results of two different directions to attack from, and judge which one is better. You can re-roll an attack, and use the higher number to determine if you hit or miss. This can be used as many times as your level in Tactic training.

~*Combatants who are Journeytroll or higher, you can now use Berserker as an afk mode*~
Berserker = Do 3 dmg per round, but only loose the amount of hp equal to the total amount of rounds you missed.

~*Tactitians who are Journeytroll or higher, you can now use Direct as an afk mode*~
Direct = Name another troll when you afk. All accuracy rolls to hit done by them while you are afk increase by 1.

Clap. Clap. Clap.

The tall figure of the redblood stepped out from behind the jagged rock where she had been lurking. The sound of applause rung out in the cavern, though her face was stoic and seemed to radiate anything but approval. Crossing her arms, she strode over to stand in the entranceway to one of the tunnels.

"Well, more of you made it through than I was expecting. It seems you just thrive on strife. So much, that if there isn't any around, you create it yourselves. Impressive! But not something that will be put up with for long in this army. You are a team, and are expected to learn how to cooperate together against a common foe, rather than turn on each other. Keep this in mind, and pass it along to sleeping beauty when he wakes up. Now, come with me. I have a discovery that just might turn this wreck of an expedition into success."

Turning her back on the group, she began to march calmly down the path. Following behind, the bedraggled group of troll eventually emerged into a large, well lit cavern. The light, crackling from hundreds of small eggs, illuminated that the place was some sort of hatchery. Not for trolls, but some other species. Halting in the enterance, the commanding officer pointed up at a small burst of colour curling around a pile of eggs at the far end.

"Sanare flos cornos. One of the rarest plants on the planet, and said to be able to bring back any creature from the brink of death. Well, when I say said, I mean can. One of our previous queens disliked the idea of any other troll getting their hands on it, and had her troops comb the planet, burning every specimen they could find. Bring that back to the queen, and we might just be able to save our grub. I'm too heavy to climb up the eggs and harvest it, but one of you kids will do nicely. So step to it!"

HP 1400/1400

A slow, lazy rustling sounded from above, like two pieces of parchment rubbing together. It grew quicker, and was soon followed by a low whine. Some trolls who decided to try and scope out whatever was making those noises might've noticed a large shifting mass. If they didn't, they certainly noticed it when it let go of the ceiling, plummetting towards the ground, turning over in midair to land on its feet.

It shook the cavern slightly as it landed, stretching out its wings like it'd joke woken up from a pretty great nap--which it had--before snapping into focus, aiming its tube-like head at each of the trolls surrounding it, like it was looking them over. The dull whine started up again, raising in volume until it was an all-out screech, the beast apparently deciding the intruders were quite unwelcome.

Like the boss battle thread says, roll two D6!
For your dodge roll, listings go as follows:

If you roll a 1, your troll, whether struck dumb or just born that way, simply stares up at the beast as it plummets towards them like a stringed lever-based music apparatus from a cartoon your ancestors probably watched as wigglers. You take three damage and deal no damage this roll, being much too preoccupied with prying yourself out from underneath this fatso.

If you roll a 2, you're knocked to the ground as he collides with you, but it isn't with his bulk, so you recover quick enough. Take two damage.

If you roll a 3, you try to roll out of the way, but the force of something so large landing next to you knocks you silly. For the rest of this round, any additional rolls will require a third die, to be used as an accuracy roll, like in a normal battle RP. Take one damage.

If you roll a 4, you deftly avoid being smashed by the beast--what kind of idiot even...--but you're right in his line of sight when he starts screeching. It's incredibly loud, causing physical pain. Take one damage, and do one less damage than you would have.

If you roll a 5, you're simply a victim of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. You aren't hit by his landing, but when he stretches his wings, one collides with you, knocking you to the ground, and kind of humiliating you. What an embarrassing way to be hurt. Take one damage.

If you roll a 6, you casually move out of his way as he drops down. You aren't blind, after all. You end up being behind him when he lands, well away from his screaming maw, and in a prime position to attack. Deal an extra two damage this roll for your strategic positioning(even if it was just an accident).

At the sound of the clapping Minist's head jerked back toward the tracker. So, Sir had just been hiding and spying on them the whole time, huh? What a sneak. With one last glance at the water she made her way towards the redblood and listened to what she had to say. What had she found? Surely it couldn't be another Mother Grub. She would make a bigger deal out of that, right? Following her to the hatchery she couldn't help but stare wide-eyed at the glowing mound of eggs. This was just so cool. She barely listened to Sir as she rattled on about magical plants, or something. She was more interested in these glowing eggs and what kind of creature lays glowing eggs. Glowing eggs! How weird and cool is that?

"I'm too heavy to climb up the eggs and harvest it, but one of you kids will do nicely. So step to it!"

Uh-huh, right. Of course. Make the kids do it. Sure, why not. Might as well get this over-OH MY GOD WHAT IS THAT THING?!

Before she knew what was going on Minist found herself trapped under some massive creature. Gasping for air she tried to drag herself out from under it's foot, but before she began to muster her strength the ting began screeching. The cavern filled with the grating noise making it very difficult to focus on getting herself free. However, she was able to drag herself out from under it's weight and make it to safer ground. Not without some serious injury, though. She could barely move her right arm without her shoulder screaming in pain. Not to mention a few cuts that were now bleeding on her legs. This wasn't good.

Minist did 0 damage.

Cheese tactfully avoided the drama that had engulfed the younger trolls in the caves. And that's all there is to say about that.

Cheese gazed thoughtfully at the eggs. The spectacle of eggs and plant would make a great lawnring sculpture, she thought, only half-listening to the redblood. But then the big lusus glided down from the ceiling with surprising gentleness, and Cheese scrambled to get out of its way before it squashed her. She succeeded, but she didn't get far enough to avoid having the air knocked out of her when one of the massive wings unfurled to its full length.

On the other hand, perhaps the lusus was the worst for wear for that encounter. Cheese's armor had left a small scratch in its wing...though, admittedly, she had not done much damage.

Cheese did 2 damage.

14/20

Jesus christ she could not catch a break around here.

Her scuffle with Zeylla had left her exhausted. After plummeting from the cliff and dragged herself out from the confines of the water, not only was she a... drowned out rat, but every single muscle and bone in her body ached. She was so tired, exhausted... she wasn't sure how much longer she could of gone on like this.

She had seen her Commanding Officer knocked out, Zyella nowhere to be found, Pyruet chatting up two other trolls with the aforementioned officer, and the redblooded commanding officer (her Commanding Commanding Officer?) stroll out with a series of claps and congratulations.

Still, she was worried about what their next trial would be, and how her... exhaustion might inevitably cause her to fail it. Trolls got up and started to gather around the redblood Officer; Sleeping Beauty, she wasn't sure whether to laugh at that or feel somewhat angry at the remark, but a superior... she stayed quiet. She ought to try to wake him up.

But as she walked over to regroup her foot caught something. A small clink clink of something sliding against the ground. Looking down, her eyes found that of a trench knife, painted with a vivid blue-- blood of course-- she knew who's it was then, and bent down to retrieve it. Sir must of dropped the thing when he was knocked unconscious. She would have to return that, it was only proper.

But she combs under the cliff first, just too- ah there we are; her gun idly laying there. She snatched that up too, something told her she would need it soon. She absentmindedly hoped that she still had plenty of ammo left in her pocket... that the water hadn't washed most of it out.

Speaking of which, she checked her other pocket then, and the fluffbeasts were somehow... still alive! And intact. She had herself a small smile then as she wandered over to the group, weapons in tow.

But she still had to wake up Sir. Mumbling halfhearted pardons as she pushed through trolls over to the unconscious blueblood, she finally got to see the extent of the damage. His glorious horn-- missing, snapped off-- presumably from the fall. She frowned, a small understatement to the anger she was starting to feel bubble up inside her chest. How dare that grayblood do that! If her priorities weren't already set, she'd go hunt her down again... if she ever crossed paths with her, she might have trouble resisting the temptation to snap off one of the hemoanonoymous' own horns in retribution. It would of made for a nice present to Sir.

Ah but she was getting distracted. How even was she supposed to wake Sir up, anyway? She didn't want to touch him, but she couldn't raise her voice. Still, as the other's chatted and moved along the caverns, she finally gathered courage- or perhaps it was a new found lackadaisical attitude that followed with being exhausted- to bring a hand up and shake the blueblood shoulder.

Out cold. Of course.

Maybe she wasn't trying hard enough. She tried again, c'mon wake UP... Christ who even knocked him out? She pursed her lips, not ready to give up with the shaking but... not sure what else to do.

Screams erupt out then.

OH JESUS MOTHER OF--

There's a huge abomination suddenly erupting out a guttural bellow and monstrous sound. Flapping it's wings, terrifying, her eyes are wide. Her nerves are shot, and they aren't reacting well to the new rush of adrenaline. It was making her sick now, not energized or renewed, just sick with the fear and rush of it all.

She dropped everything- gun, knife- and started shaking Sempur frantically now-- oh but this wasn't working jesus christ what was she expected to do "S-Sir S-SIR WAKE UP WAKE UP--" and she gritted her teeth and slapped him across the face as hard as she could.

She hoped that would be enough, since the beast was almost upon everyone. She picked up the trench knife quickly, pupils dilated with overwhelming emotions, hands shaking now. She tries to speak but nothing comes out, she hopes he's awake, hopes so much that he is because she can't rip her eyes off of the grotesque thing.

...it's impossible and yet she does, looking back at her Officer, she see's he's starting to come too. If there was any room left for it, she would be terrified of his reaction too. Instead she just shoves the beloved knife into Sempur's hands and grabs her gun, scrambling to her feet. "S-Sir w-we have a bit o-o-of a prob-problem."

She'd apologize to Sir later for acting so horrendously disrespectful, but right now she had to fight for her life.

17/20

Pulled out of the darkness rather abruptly, a burst of pain throbbing in the back of his head, and then a sharp stinging drawing blue to his face, for a moment Sempur was actually docile for once, blearily staring at Pathetic, mind reeling as the pain momentarily dulled his rage. That she had slapped him barely registered, in his dazed stupor he was more hung up on the fact that she looked more frantic than angry now. And then it came to him. This was Pathetic, she had just slapped him, and the rage was back in full-force as Sempur snapped back into action.

"THE PROBLEM, PATHETIC, IS YOU—" his outburst was fortunately cut short as she shoved the trench knife he had dropped into his hands and he stilled, stomach dropping for a moment, mortified that not only had he left a man behind, but he had left his favorite behind. He slipped his scarred and calloused fingers into the brass knuckles of the trench knife and as he gripped his ever-beloved weapon, Sempur might have actually thanked Pathetic, if she weren't already off to fight.

Yes. Preferable. Rather than wasting any time on frivolities. He had taught her well, and privately, might have even been impressed by that slap. But then, it would make sense—she had learned by his example. The best example for slaps.

Realizing he was wasting time when there was a monster to fight and redemption to be had, Sempur quickly pulled himself onto his feet, body aching, head still splitting with pain, but all of that easily ignored as the familiar rush of adrenaline propelled him. All he could focus on now was the wyvern's mouth, lined with teeth like the symbol of the grayblood, and if he couldn't very well kill her then this would have to do. Bellowing a war cry nowhere near as deafening as the wyvern's screech but announcing his hate all the same, Sempur charged, knives slashing at the head of the monster too much like the symbol of the traitor.

HP: 1361/1400

The leech-like wyvern shook itself like a wet dog as the multitude of attacks landed. He whipped his head around, very suddenly lunging towards the wall, where a strangely blue stone stuck out against the browns and greys. Even stranger than the color was the fact that the beast pressed his face against the wall and took a bite of it, swallowing it whole. He turned back around, and with another sharp yelp, regurgitated the rock at the group.

It was glowing as it left his mouth, which maybe should've been a warning sign, but still, it was almost mesmerizing as it arced through the air.

And then hit the ground and blew up. A bright light completely illuminated the cavern as the rock went off like a flash grenade, even creating a miniature explosion at the point where it landed. It was obviously intended to blind, however, not concuss, as the explosion was infinitely less impressive than the flash--though admittedly, a vomited rock doing either of those things is probably pretty darn impressive regardless.

The dodge rolls go like this:

If you roll a 1, your troll, just as fascinated by staring at 100% dangerous things as the first lot, is hit almost dead-on by the flashbomb. You take three damage from the small explosion, and do no damage this turn, as you're so dazed and blinded that you can't even see where to attack.

If you roll a 2, your troll is smart enough to turn away and cover their eyes, but are still hit by the explosion, taking three damage.

If you roll a 3, your troll is far enough away to not get hit by the explosion, but still gets damn-near blinded by the flash. You take one damage, and you must roll a three or higher on your attack roll to shake the spots out of your eyes to attack properly, otherwise deal no damage.

If you roll a 4, try as you might to shelter your eyes from the blast, it's still just too bright when your eyes were so used to the dark. Subtract two from your damage dealt for a poorly aimed attack.

If you roll a 5, you almost escape unharmed. Your eyes remain un-scorched, but your clothes can't say the same, as you were caught by the very edge of the blast radius. Take one damage.

If you roll a 6, you cover your eyes and blindly attack, letting your warrior's instinct take over, which isn't a totally stupid idea for once. Deal six damage, regardless of what your attack roll was.

Cheese had been knocked to the ground when the wind was knocked out of her, and she was still trying to recover when the flash grenade exploded practically on top of her, knocking her down again. She received several nasty bruises from stray shrapnel; fortunately, her drone armor weathered the hit and she was able to crawl away, stunned and blinded. No way she was hitting that thing this turn.

Minist was going to make this ugly beast pay for squashing her. Drawing her wrench she carefully watched for an opening as it chomped down on some rock. As it regurgitated the glowing mineral Minist did not allow herself to become distracted again. She stayed clear of the impact site and closed her eyes to protect them from any shrapnel and the sudden brightness. Focusing herself she ran at the creature and began hitting it as best she could without opening her eyes. Her combat training seemed to have paid off as she got in a number of blows before heading back to safety and finally opening her eyes.

17/20

Between drawing the creature's blood and the cacophony of its cries, the shouts of other trolls, and the sounds of bullet fire echoing throughout, Sempur was practically euphoric—he lived for fighting and for once, he was fixated more on actually killing the beast than hoping he would die in a fittingly spectacular and glorious way. He was fighting to win, so driven by his anger for everything that had happened, so determined to prove the nightmares wrong, and hell maybe he was having fun, feeling a little better taking his aggression out on something after making an idiot of himself but not, because he didn't, we weren't going to think about that thank you.

But because it is a universal constant that Sempur's good moods—whatever very vague maybe-decent feelings he might have—must always be cut short and ruined, the leechdragon spat out an explosive rock and being blinded was bad enough, sure, but the pain that had taken a backseat to all the carnage returned, bigger and badder than ever, so sharp it felt like he was being stabbed by one of his own trench knives. Except even Sempur was smart enough not to stab himself in the head, OK, that was only once. Ears ringing, eyes wrenched shut, he swore and could only slash wildly in the wyvern's general direction. Whatever hits he might have landed did next to nothing.

This was what she had been waiting for! Frossa braced herself, whipping out her flail as she watched the winged creature dart and attack the trolls around her. She managed to stay unharmed, although fell and scraped her knee whilst dodging one of the screeching wyvern's attacks- which hopefully went unnoticed by her peers. Picking herself up off the floor Frossa lunged at the pale beast, landing a decent hit on one of it's shoulders.

However, the leech-thing soon got it's revenge as it spat glowing rocks at the highblood. Frossa winced, shielding her eyes from the incoming light, but was still hit with the exploding attack.
