It had been some time since she had travailed to the swamps and made the pride her home. Its secretive ways and watery land suited her perfectly, though she hadn't as yet made that many friends, she had met several of the pride, one male in particular who seemed to have taken her under his proverbial wing and shown her the ropes, despite his almost silent and cold mannerisms. But ever so often she got the urge to stretch her legs and hunt for something a little different than the usual fair. These hunting trips would take her out beyond the pride's boarders and back into the rogue lands, a place that was both familiar and alien to her now, with its bone dry landscape and yellowing tones, a discord with her rich brown coat that blended so well in her new home.
Still, it was with a contented mind that she stepped out, head up and senses alert for any potential prey, but the main aim for the day was to enjoy the warmth of the sun and the whisper of scented breeze past her ears. She had a home, a secure place where she could live ad raise a family, a place she could trust to still be there when she returned from her hunt, and other lions that were slowly becoming dear to her, friends and allies forming that she knew would last a lifetime. It was a very different way of life than being alone in the rogue lands, but she was discovering a deep connection to the swamps she had only ever been able to dream off before her arrival.
Suddenly a sound, as faint as a leaf rustling int he wind, and a scent, delicate and almost indecipherable, caught her attention and she sank down into the dry grass silently, ears pricked and alert as her miss-matched gaze swept the plains before her.

After a languid morning of sunning himself on a jutting bolder face the brilliantly colored flame-point king had spotted something of interest in the distance. A dark, earthy colored shape that stood out boldly against waves of golden grass, demanding to be noticed. It was definitely a lion and upon his more scrutinizing examination the male decided it was definitely a lioness. Not that gender had ever played a huge role in the tomcat's life.
Fuuenken was dictated by intrigue. Nothing more. Nothing less.
At the moment his intrigue had him slithering off his regal perch to stalk his prey, tailing safely several feet behind amidst surroundings that catered well to his pelt. Except for the sunset tones of his mane Fuuen nearly disappeared into the rolling savannah. And if he ducked his head? He did disappear.
For a while he simply tailed her. Breathing in her exotic scent. Admiring her sleek physique and long limbs. Attempting to make heads or tails of her origins. The usual information that he tended to gather whenever he considered approaching a feline that piqued his appetite. Some were easier to read than others, most failed to escape his incredibly shrewd powers of observation.
When finally she fell still, attracted to some small sign of life that seemed worthy of her attention the rogue too paused in his step, deciding it was the perfect moment to ambush her with his presence. A cheshire grin upon his muzzle as he purred sensually, greeting the lioness from his position downwind of her. Not from around these parts, are you?

The scent that had teased her with its brief, delicate flavour was nothing compared to the rush of notes that filled her ears. The rich, deep tones coming from behind were both accented beautifully and yet strange to her, their tonation and depth seeding a deep pleasure in her breast before the knowledge that they were a stranger's gift made her spin round and plant her paws, head up and tail high in a posture of self-confidence.
The sight that met her twin-toned gaze was as welcoming as the voice that had teased her senses.. a male of fine stature and lithe tone stood not far off, his golden coat a rich shadow amid the sun-dried grasses. The blaze of his vibrantly coloured mane certainly eye-catching though that was not what held her attention. It was his mis-matched eyes, so like her own, and the simple, casual confidence of his baring that had her doing a double-take rather than simply dismissing him as she had so many before him.
Twitching an ear she cocked her head, her own gaze running over the tomcat with interest, impressed enough with his physical condition that she was willing to sample the stranger's intentions and personality as well.
"Once, but not any more." She agreed lightly, a half-smile flickering across her muzzle briefly, her own gaze alight with intelligent curiosity. "I've not seen you near here before either.."

Silently observing the gloved lioness in her impressive ability to turn about-face without tripping over her own elegant limbs Fuuenken realized that he rather enjoyed being the hunter over the hunted. Being an ambush predator suited his desire to always have the leisure of watching his prey, more for his own voyeuristic entertainment than for any real tactical advantage. Most encounters with strangers--no matter what he could tell of them simply through keen analytical skills--were handled in a swinging-by-the-tail manner of fashion. This one was no different.
Devouring every inch of her poised frame with his eyes as she in turn examined him, the sandy figure held himself in a casual way, yet there was an unspoken prowess in his statuesque physique. Delight poured into his expression when their eyes met and it dawned on them in the same instant that they shared the same rare physical trait--heterochromia. Normally, the fire king would have waited to see how temperaments meshed before staking his claim, but Fuuenken knew in an instant that tonight, she would be his.
Intrigued by her answer the captivating smile upon his maw turned upward with his cavalier nature. You sound surprised.

Her smile widened at his reply, his expression of delight caught by her a moment earlier. It was surprising certainly, but she found herself fascinated with this unusual male. His vivid, confident personality that was so clearly visible in the way he held himself, his supreme confidence that was, judging by his lean frame, born not only of an over inflated ego but well deserved from the exertion of effort and struggle.
Watching him with her bright, intelligent gaze, she chuckled at his comment, voice lightly accented and warm with the richness of life and the act of living it to the full. "Surprised? Not really.. interested, most certainly." Having pinpointed the fact that he was not a threat nor a male she needed to be wary of, she padded closer, moving silently through the dry grass despite her obviously ill-fitting coloration that suggested she lived elsewhere.
"Was there anything specific that drew you to this area?" Her curiosity was not usually this blatant, but he was so different to the other males she had met before she joined the swamps, that she felt compelled to try and work out what it was about him that drew her.

With a personality as brilliant and magnetic as the sun poised over head it was no surprise that the gravity of Fuuenken's presence eventually drew the enticing lioness nearer to his side. A few effortless steps--despite how well calculated they seemed--closed the distance between them until his short, velvet coat meant for surviving in sweltering, desolate and rugged terrain brushed against her own invitingly. Her answer intrigued him, perhaps because she too possessed a visible interest in the virile stranger. Warmth flooding the rumbling chuckle that rolled off his tongue in a rather relaxed fashion. Even better.
Blue and green hues flicked over the female's figure a second time, though now he allowed his eyes to linger upon all the things about her that pleased him. Touching her with only a self-indulgent glance as his smile crooked with a hint of impishness. Would you believe it was you? Fuuenken followed you nearly as far as the sun.
With a nod of his shaggy head skyward the buff pelted lion indicated that he had been tailing her at least as long as the pale globe had stared down at them, shrinking their shadows into nothingness. Fuu travels with the wind, but if an angel should chance by Fuu is always obligated to see she makes it safely back home. So, will you let Fuuenken escort you... back to heaven?

His deep, rumbling reply teased her smile back, those mis-matched eyes alert and amused as she watched him. The look he returned to her made her body warm deliciously, as if she could almost feel his gaze brushing over her dark fur. It was a sensation that made her aware of her feminine side, not something she did very often, being the consummate tomboy since cubhood, but it was a feeling she discovered was really rather nice when gifted from such a handsome male as the one before her. And what set him apart was the fact that he felt genuine... no put upon airs or ulterior motives, he was entirely unapologetic about his interest in her and she enjoyed his honesty.
An amused grin curled across her muzzle at his poetic reply, though she followed his gaze skywards to the fiery sun before looking back at him, one brow quirking upwards. "You are a very skilled hunter, Fuuenken." She replied, the grin warming into a full smile even as she chuckled, rather amazed that anyone would follow her for the better part of a morning across this arid landscape. Tilting her head, eyes dancing with amusement she dipped his head. "I am certainly no angel, but I would not refuse a Wind Spirit his request." Flicking an ear she wondered if maybe her words, meant in playfulness, were in fact a little closer to the truth than she imagined. He was so unusual, certainly not like any regular lion she had met, and he had turned up here, in the middle of no where, before her.... Being an ex-rogue she was not steeped in the religion of her adopted pride, but she certainly had not discounted their beliefs and now.. with this male suddenly coming to her at this time in her life... she felt a little thrill run down the fur of her spine.
"It would be an honor to be accompanied by you, sir.. My name is Maisha." She added with that same amused smile.

Skilled? Heh, think that may be the nicest way anyone's ever put it. Most just call Fuuen obnoxious. Chuckling lightheartedly it was clear that the male possessed the sort of self confidence that made poking fun at his own expense easier than it might have been for most. Sensing the inviting warmth in her voice the flame-point relaxed his stance beside the female invisibly. His own head canting at the new title, Wind Spirit, it had a nice ring to it and immediately Fuuenken decided that he would adopt it as one more to add to the list of many monikers he was known by.
Granted, the brute couldn't help but scoff softly at her dismissal of his own pet name for her. All females were either angels or devils in disguise--hell sometimes they didn't even bother to hide it--but it didn't change the fact that it was true. Given the lioness' demeanor so far, Fuu was all too glad to put her in the category of the former. Walking slowly at her side, with a more guardian-like demeanor now, the flame maned rogue queried with blatant interest, repeating the new piece of information with indulgent emphasis. The honor is all Fuuenken's really. So.. is there anywhere in particularly you need to be Maisha?
(OOC: I dunno why but I hit a brick wall on this post. x___x;; Finally got myself to gut through it. Is her name Maisha or Mashika? Cause it's different on her cert. I'm sure curious though.)

Tilting her head she flashed him a dazzling smile, expression amused at his blunt words. "Obnoxious? I haven't really known you very long but I've not seen any such thing so far." His confident yet somehow elf-depreciating temper appealed to her in a way that went beyond simple interest. There was something magnetic about this male, and it wasn't his good looks, which he undeniably possessed, or his supreme confidence which was also without question. But she sensed something else, a depth to him that was as bold and honest as his words.
Finding herself on the path back towards the swamps she now called home, she flashed another bright, amused smile at him, quickly finding herself fascinated by his manners and way of speaking. So many questions raced around in relation to this male, but she was content to slowly discover the answers, one by one. Maybe on the walk back to her home, maybe in more... interesting activities later on.
"Hmm... Not really, my Knight." She chuckled, finding herself enjoying making up names for this stranger from the savannah. "I was going to simply head home, since my hunting trip appears to have been rather more successful than I had planned." She gave him an appreciative glance from the corner of her eye, letting him know just what kind of hunting he put her in mind of.
(Eep.. not so happy with that post but I promised you I'd post one!)

Rather enamored with the smile that graced him Fuuenken seemed to give no indication of whether or not he was relieved to know that she didn't have the same unpleasant opinion of him as some. Then again, he hadn't really given any indication to whether or not he cared either given how offhanded the comment had been in the first place. Instead the suave rogue concentrated on every little movement of Maisha's body as he followed beside and half a step behind her. Allowing the lioness to lead the way, at least for now.
With proposition filling the space between her words Fuu could only grin debonairly, though it was defused by his nonchalant shrug. Despite the regal way this rogue King seemed to become lord of any land he walked on, he enjoyed overshadowing his superiority with acts of humbleness. Fuuen is hardly deserving of such flattery, just an average cat of simple means who happens to have done enough traveling to know a thing or two. Like a lioness worth admiring..
The words held intimate meaning as he returned a glance that would have been inappropriate to be witnessed by cubs. Chuckling wryly, However, if you've got some time to spare for a rogue, Fuuenken promises to earn the look of approval you offer so freely.
It wasn't a matter of if she would accept his offer, only when. And as they continued on their journey just about every sparse bit of overgrowth was beginning to look more and more inviting. Who would have known angels could be such teases?
