Quote: Garo (牙狼<GARO>(ガロ)?, literally "Fanged Wolf" in English), sometimes referred to as Golden Knight Garo (黄金騎士ガロ Ōgon Kishi Garo?), is a Japanese tokusatsu television series. It was broadcast on TV Tokyo from October 7, 2005 to March 31, 2006, lasting 25 episodes (with one additional "Overview" special, summarizing the events of episodes 1 through 13, aired before episode 14). On December 15 and December 22, 2006, a special entitled Garo Special: Beast of the Midnight Sun aired. A 2006 article in Total Licensing Magazine about a Licensing Asia event mentions Gar o as having been "sold into the US and Spain," but the buyer is not named in the article.[1] Since 2007, the show has also been aired in other countries like Italy (on MTV), Malaysia (on 8TV), and Spain (on Canal Buzz). On October 30, 2010, an original film titled Garo: Red Requiem was released in Japanese theaters. In May 2011, two new projects in the Garo franchise were announced: a second television series titled Garo: Makai Senki, debuting on TV Tokyo on October 6, and the spin-off V-Cinema Kiba Gaiden. The catchphrase for the series is "Where there is light, shadows lurk and fear reigns... yet by the blade of Knights, mankind was given hope...". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garo_(TV_series)___________________________________________________________ All things GARO post here. Since, it is a Tokusatsu, and we don't have a thread relating to it... why not start talking about it here?____________________________________________________________

Garo is a pretty awesome series. The first season of it was pretty interesting and presented some new concepts while reusing old ones. It had a lot of great moments to me and I really enjoyed a number of things presented in it from how the knights functioned (and it's consequences) to the concept of the Horrors. I was sad to see it finish up, but it ended well. I didn't think we'd end up with another season of it, but here we are with Makai Senki. I need to watch more of it (only have seen two episodes as of posting this) but it seems to keep the same vibe and action that the first season had.

To be honest, I haven't watched much of GARO. Maybe like three episodes of the first series, so I really don't know much about it other then the basic plot and the Armor's time limit. It does look cool though.
Can any one of you educate your old Captain? xp

Apparently there is another movie being made. GARO: Soukoku no Maryu. Interesting that they already have one being made while the second series is going on. If I recall right, the first movie stuff came a bit after the series. Must mean good things for the franchise's future.

Mr Jes To be honest, I haven't watched much of GARO. Maybe like three episodes of the first series, so I really don't know much about it other then the basic plot and the Armor's time limit. It does look cool though. Can any one of you educate your old Captain? xp Kouga is the main character, who is a Makai Knight. His job is to "cut down" Horrors. He's a very focused individual, and gets the job done. He seems very cold, anti-social, among other things, but seems to have a hinted human side, when he decides not to "cut down" a tainted human victim. Initially, using her for bait, to make his job easier, the audience wonders whether there is another reason he keeps the individual alive. There is so much detail in this series, and I don't think my own writing can do the show justice, so you need to go watch it instead. The CG is absolutely gorgeous. The storyline is written perfectly. The art and thought put into EVERYTHING down to the very last detail is flawless. The characters are consistent, and never go out of character. You expect Kouga to be Kouga, and he is. The stories are consistent. The villains or "Horrors" reflect more of a mature tone. The demons are so very plausible, that they "could" exist in real time. It isn't a shiny metal guy fighting a rubber suit. This is the highest level of a Tokusatsu that I have ever seen. The main characters do more fight scenes outside of costume then in costume. Every character is extremely dedicated to their role, and it never feels forced or like the "Power Ranger-I-don't-know-how-to-do-martial-arts". These actors KNOW what they are doing. The stunts are flawless. The CG is inter-weaved so perfectly with the live action, that you forget it is a Tokusatsu. (If that even makes sense). The bar is raised for all Tokusatsus from this program. Season 2 wasn't a remake of season one. But it had expert writing, awesome art work, great inter-weaving of the CG characters. There were other characters brought in, but each of them had great depth. I've been rewatching the series, because there is so much information, and all of the subtle hints tie in together throughout the entire storyline. Nothing is wasted. I highly recommend this series to anyone who wants to experience a MATURE, and DARK Tokusatsu. This is the most grown up series that I have ever spent time on, and it rates high on my list of ANY show that I've seen. I actually rate it above my American television counterparts. The closet show that I can compare it to, and I'm not being mean, is The Cape. That's it. I don't know of another American show that is dark. I suppose you can claim the Batman movies...but then I guess we'd get into the comic books. So, if you need an equivalent, then go to the darkest American comic books, and GARO would be in that realm. I hope this helps, Captain....' ~Nadira~

Really? Just reading that hooks my interest. Hopefully I'll catch a break and be able to watch the series soon. About how long is each series may I ask? Same as any Tokusatsu?

The first series (2005-2006) is 25 episodes, and each episode is about 25 minutes long. The second series (2011-2012) is 24 episodes, though a special 25th episode aired yesterday...so I will be scouring the internet to see it. It is also very captivating, so you may want to open time up for 1 or 2 episodes at a time. Because I work is blocks, I watch 3-4 episodes at a time. It's very addicting. So I forewarn you. (I watched the first series in only 1 week. Once I realized there was a season two, I continued on to that, until I caught up to the latest aired episode...I must have watched the season two released episodes in a week, and then waited with the world for the last few episodes to air). There is going to be another GARO film is the future (2012)!! So lets all keep our fingers crossed for a Season 3...

Well the first few episodes I saw a few years ago had me hooked, the videos were removed before I could get back to it, so I kinda forgot. Definitely something I'll look into soon. Luckily I'm not taking in Summer Courses. (^^)v Well If there's already a movie announced I'd say its a good indicator for a third season. Just so long as it gets enough money, anything is possible.

Now days, all of my summers are: work work work.. But, since I've discovered the tokusatsu genre, I throw in an episode or two too keep it fresh).

I love Garo and I only had 19 episodes downloaded before the Megaupload fiasco. My antivirus tells me something is embedded in the TV-N Torrent page and I'm not inclined to disagree or bypass the blocked access. I doubt any of the files are infected, but I wouldn't be surprised if something nasty was embedded on the page. And now, Fileserve doesn't allow me to ddl Garo either. I accessed the TV-N Torrent for Garo from Nyaa, but the torrent is a dud.
I'm also picky about my file formats. I prefer avi or mp4, because I love to watch them on my tv via my PS3. I don't think wanting two specific formats is a lot to ask, but apparently it is. XD
I am more than halfway through the first season of Garo and am pissed that I can't finish it. I'm also a**l about things and won't watch the second season without seeing the first. stressed

Though just searching the net is a lot like one big haystack.
