Darkness. It was one of the few times that he actually liked being out and about. Quetzalcoatl wasn't one who just wandered around everywhere that he could. Honestly, he preferred staying within the herd boundaries than to leaving. It was irritating how he had wandered this far, but the Usdia didn't care. With his head held high, he walked quietly, the long black tail trailing on the ground some. With a gentle sigh, the Usdia glanced up, his eyes trailing the stares. Well, at least it was quiet tonight.
Quetzalcoatl's eyes flickered, locking within some woods not far off. He tilted his head, curious. He'd never explored that area before. Turning that way, the small male moved quietly along the path, his eyes flickering from one area to another, before he stopped short and glanced around, ears perking up. He would eventually find something to do, even if it meant he would have to go pick a fight with someone or something to find interest.

Elodin was standing between two trees staring at a branch that held a small clump of leaves. He'd been staring at the leaves since before dark. He was still staring at the leaves.
His eyes were gritty and sore and Elodin was actually beginning to be frustrated. He didn't know why the leaves weren't talking to him, but obviously they were prepared to wait out the staring contest.
The sounds of a scuffed hoof step behind him drew Elodin's attention. Grinding his teeth, he muttered something unsavory at the leaves and turned to see what caused the noise.
It was hard to make out the shape of an Usdia stallion against the darkness of the night. Only the red markings upon his legs and neck and the deep crimson of his belly shone against the night sky. No, his ears were lined in white as well, that wasn't a sliver of low hanging moon.
Strange, that the other moved as if part of a bloody night. Elodin found his lips stretching in a fang filled grin as he stepped forward to greet the other stallion. "Blue, blue, blue!"

Quetzalcoatl looked up toward a tall tree, his gold eyes flickering, admiring how it appeared. That was until he shook his mane out with a huff. He sometimes wandered what it would taste like, the leaves and fruit of trees. But due to his size, it was probably never going to happen. He could ask his gradfather, but that seemed to be too much of a hassle. The stallion let out a grunt, lowering his head to nibble on some sweet grass, before his ears perked at a noise. No one was supposed to be around here. His eyes locked on the white and gold colored horse that moved toward him.
"..... What?" His voice was on edge, body tight. Quetzalcoatl wasn't going to allow another creature to harm him. If he had to, he would fight his way away from the creature. But the color that was being shouted confused him. Quetzalcoatl wasn't blue... He didn't have a lick of blue on him, which was odd considering his mother. So confusion entered his eyes, and the stallion took a slight step back, his body tensing more.

Elodin blinked, as if surprised to see the other stallion. "Oh, hello! You aren't Blue! Have you been tasting the Night?"
It's possible he made sense to himself. Elodin was fairly certain he knew what he was talking about. At least until someone asked him to explain himself.
His eyes fixing on the other stallion's legs, Elodin takes a step forward. "There is a thing, watching me. Why is it watching me? I won't tell it, you know!"

Quetzalcoatl stared toward the stallion, his eyes narrowing some. He frowned, taking a step back. What was wrong with this stallion? First off, what was with the scales that littered his back and chest. The tail that seemed odd within the realms of any he had seen. And the split hooves. He had seen them on bigger Soquili, the ones with horns, but this... This wasn't a bigger Soquili, and he didn't look like a friendly chap, at least not to Quetzalcoatl's nature. He frowned, ears pinning. If anything, he'd have to keep this stallion distracted and keep him away from his family.
He was thoroughly confused. Quetzalcoatl eyed the stallion as if he was out of his mind, before he responded with a slight grunt, ears pinning. "... What in the world are you talking about?"

"Oh, sorry! The world you say? The world is always talking, if we listen hard enough. I've been listening really hard, but it's mad and doesn't want to tell me." Elodin actually manged to look a bit dejected. After all, if he was bothering to listen, the least the world could do was talk to him.
"But you have a something, with a face, on your legs. Does it talk to you? Do you listen?"

Quetzalcoatl was, to say the least, confused. And when he was confused, he got irritated. The stallion's ears flicked back, eyes narrowing dangerously. What was this odd looking stallion talking about? Honestly? Was he completely insane? Shaking his head with a slight grunt, the stallion stepped backwards, holding his head up high to make himself seem superior to the other stallion. "You're insane. The world cannot speak. It is just a hunk of rock and plants, melding together. And no, my markings do not speak. It's a pattern in my fur, nothing more."

Elodin sighs, "Pity. It might say wondrous things if it could. Though I am certain the world speaks, I have heard the voice of the wind, even if I don't always know what it's saying. And the earth creaks and groans, shakes and grows. Perhaps I am insane, but that is better than blind sanity!"
Insulted, Elodin turns to walk away, the leaves he had been staring at much more interesting than this close minded stallion.
